Join me to hear a real story about a guy named Noah and his birds.  Also hear about his rescue vehicle, an ARK.  Most importantly, hear about the Rescuer that REMEMBERS him.  This is very important to you, as he is your great grandfather.  No rescue of Noah = no you.

Ultimately, we are heading towards BELIEF.  Proclaim with me, "I believe in the flood. I believe in the rescue. I believe in the Ark."

I believe in the ARK S155 Gen8:4

But God remembered NOAH, the pertinent question is: will we believe in the God who remembers Noah? In the God who rescues with an AKK?

Goal: I believe in the ARK

Sweet sentiment of God: He did not forget our great grandfather NOAH

By that we mean thinking of and acting on behalf of; benefit of

One of the reasons that books are frequently better than movies is because you get more of the internal life; hear thoughts, motivations

He TELLS us what He is thinking as NOAH is in the ARK

I remember and enact to save I remember and then I do only God thing, I exert DIVINE HELP*******

Given Noah a heads up on a vehicle suited for particular rescue ARK

Given Noah a prediction, a prophesy, that flood is coming

Given Noah a promise it is you I am doing something special with

I am going to make a covenant with you

He’d better make a covenant with us that is dependent upon HIS faithfulness—we didn’t make it even ONE generation without sin

Just like you might not make it to lunch without sin

Don’t forget God’s remembering of NOAH***********

We have a God who remembers

8 But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided. 2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained, 3 and the waters receded from the earth continually. At the end of 150 days the waters had abated, 4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.(exactly 5 months ) 5 And the waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

To stop the flood two things had to functionally happen:

Fountains of the deep had to abate from below

Windows of heaven had to close

Rain had to be restrained, withheld, imprisioned

Get a picture that the wrath was extensive, justified, ongoing, epic in size, appropriate

WRATH restrained: Justice getting what you deserve,

                                             = flood, appropriate, just, proportional

Mercy is getting LESS than you deserve

= restrained, withheld, fact that the judgment stopped

                           Waters subsided, and fountains abate

Grace is getting MORE than you deserve

= covenant of a big holy God with not so holy people

Unfailing covenant keeper with always failing covenant people*****************

                  Substitutionary atonement

                  Payment for sins

Plan to justify an unjustifiable people

Cannot do this without a God who remembers

God who knows we are but dust

Waters prevail 150 days 5 months floating

         Then hit Mt. Ararat

Abate x 150 days

         Within that time

Other mt. become visible 2.5 months (7.5 months in

40 days after that visibility a RAVEN sent out

                  9 months in DOVE #1

9 moths + 7 days DOVE #2 returns with OLIVE

                  9 months + 14 days Dove #3 doesn’t return

End of Abated time 150 days, 300 days in

         Earth dries x 70 days

                  Removes cover

1 year +10 days Noah leaves ark

6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made 7 and sent forth a raven. It went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground. 9 But the dove found no place to set her foot, and shereturned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him. 10 He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth thedove out of the ark. 11 And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth. 12 Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, and she did not return to him anymore.

1.   Real story; real guy using the tools he had.  He knew the Raven was clever

2.   2. Specificity of details give credence to the story

a.   If this is a myth than it’s lessons are optional, not authoritiative

3.   3. Hope you can entrust yourself to the story and in so doing, entrust yourself to the ONE who Noah is entrusting HIMSELF

I believe in the flood. I believe in the rescue. I belive in the ARK
