Shaping the AI Narrative: A Christian Call to Arms Against Silicon Valley Monopoly
Dec 18, 2023
Andrew Torba

Imagine your daily life intertwined with AI technology, yet, this AI reflects your Christian values. This isn't some far-off dystopia, but rather a reality that we're actively shaping. We'll peel back the layers of sensationalism and fear to reveal the reality that AI is simply a tool, a machine that is not only already woven into our everyday lives but can be harnessed to echo our values too.

We'll transition from the broader landscape of AI to the more specific realms of free speech and Christianity. The role of AI in our lives, especially in relation to free speech, is a topic that needs a robust discussion, not shunning or fear. We'll also confront Silicon Valley's monopoly on AI and how it potentially skews narratives. Together, we'll explore Gab's  AI offerings, including chatbots that have spurred content creation on our platform. This episode isn't just an enlightening conversation, it's a call to action for Christians to actively shape the narrative of AI in a way that aligns with our faith. Forget fear-mongering, let's embrace the future and let our voices be heard.

Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, welcome to the Parallel Christian Society podcast. My name is Andrew Torba. I'm the CEO of GABcom. Today, we're talking about the work that GAB is doing in the field of AI. This tends to be sort of a divided issue for among Christians, so many of the younger Christians not all and many of the older Christians not all tend to have some disagreements on our approach with this, and so I talked about this in one of my previous episodes, but I want to talk about it again and sort of lay out the vision here, because this is all very new.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of sort of fear-mongering around this topic, and I think we need to sort of ease people into what AI actually is, what GAB's vision is on our end for building AI, why we're doing it. So these are things that I want to keep talking about, because I think that a lot of people just have a false understanding of what AI actually is, and they just don't understand it. It's a new technology, and anytime a new technology comes out, I think there's a lot of fear that's stoked by some of the major players who want to control this technology, who don't want us paying attention to this technology and who don't want us building this technology, excuse me. And so I think that one of the big things to get across is that when you're thinking of AI, there's nothing sentient there. Ai, fundamentally, is math, code and data. It's a machine, it's a tool. It does not think, it does not feel, it does not have emotions, it does not have a soul and it never will. And so that's the first thing, because there's a lot of fear-mongering. People are saying AI is demonic and the technocrats are saying that AI is going to become sentient and destroy the world, and this is all sort of nonsense.

Speaker 1:

Ai is at its core. It's basically an advanced search engine. So you're using AI every single day, and have been for many, many years now, and you don't even realize it. So when you type into Google and Google is predicting the search that you want to see, that's a form of AI. When you're scrolling your Facebook feed or your Twitter feed or whatever, how it injects and surfaces different content to you, that's AI. When you get recommended different movies on a streaming service or you get recommended different items to buy when you're shopping online, ai is doing that. And so even when you take a photo on your phone both Apple and Google, whatever device you may have Samsung, all of them they're all using AI to optimize your photos and your videos. And so we've been using AI for many years. It's just sort of been behind the scenes and now it's sort of coming out on the front end, where you can actually interact with the data in a new and different way, and so, again, whether you realize it or not, you're already using AI.

Speaker 1:

So you could hate it, you could think it's demonic, whatever, but you're basically going to have to throw your phone away and never use the internet again if you don't want to interact with AI, and even that's going to be difficult because it's being integrated pretty much across every facet of society now, and so this is happening, and so you may hate it, you may want nothing to do with it, and whatever, but the reality is that, like our kids, our grandkids, they're already using it and they're going to keep using it, and it's going to be a very integral part of our society going forward. And so, with that in mind, we need to be building. We need to be building our own. And so there was this example last night that I saw someone post it, and they asked the Silicon Valley AI ChatGPT. They asked it to draw a white man in a hospital bed surrounded by white nurses, and the AI refused to do it and it scolded him and it said I can't do that. I need to draw images that are diverse and inclusive. How about I draw you an image of a black guy surrounded by Hispanic women and black women and whatever right? And so he used the same exact prompt, only he swapped out white with black, and then he swapped it out with Asian and swapped it out with Hispanic, and the AI produced the exact same prompt that it refused to produce for a white person with those other people.

Speaker 1:

And so, you know, these AIs are fundamentally woke. They're fundamentally, you know, designed to be anti-white and anti-Christian, and so, with that in mind, you know and that's the thing to keep in mind too is that AI is ultimately a mirror of its creator. You know. So, whoever is creating and shaping the eye, those are sort of the values that are going to be mirrored back out in the outputs of the AI. So that's something that we have to keep in mind. With these things in mind, the fact that this is happening, whether you like it or not, and our enemies are building this and our kids are using the tools that our enemies are using.

Speaker 1:

I think it's very wise for us to consider the notion that we need to build, and so, in the past, when new technology or new media, media, forms of media, have come out, christians have always been very hesitant. And you know, by the time they realized that, hey, maybe we should build something too to glorify God with and to use as a tool to disciple the nations, as we've been commanded to do, it's too late and they're very late to the game, and getting traction is very difficult and they're just, you know, 10 years behind the enemy. That we saw this happen in pretty much every form of media. You know, from radio to TV, to social media. And so you know, by the time GAB launched, for example, most social networks had been around for over a decade, right, and so you know, maybe I should have launched GAB when I was 14 years old and we would have been in a better position and more toe to toe with some of the bigger players by now. But you know, that just illustrates the thing that I'm trying to get across here is like AI is right now where social networking was in, like, you know, 2004, 2005. It is very early, and we have an opportunity now to get in on the ground floor and to build something that is not going to be censored, that is not going to, you know, be anti-white and anti-Christian and anti-American, and we have a duty and a responsibility to ensure that we build this thing, because otherwise our enemies are going to see full control of this new technology and we're not going to be able to catch up. By the time we realize, it's going to be too late, and so we have to get in on the ground floor right now and start building Again.

Speaker 1:

You may absolutely hate AI, you may think it's evil, but the reality is is that right now, you're using it, whether you realize it or not, and our kids and our grandkids are going to be using it well into the future. And so do you want them using an AI that conforms to the globalist, woke worldview or do you want them to use one that allows all points of view, most especially the Christian one, to be seen and heard? I mean, that's basically what's at stake here. Ai is the new search engine. It's not some sentient oracle, it's not a demon. It's code, math and data. That's it. That's all it is and that's all it ever will be.

Speaker 1:

And so you know, everything that you have been told about AI is a lie from the media. You know we all can, you know, say the media lies and it's fake news about everything else, but about this subject, for whatever reason, you guys are buying into many of you are buying into what the media and what these technocrats are saying about AI. It's all fear-mongering, because they want total control of it. They want you to be afraid of it. They want you to think that they are the only ones who can sort of harness it. They want the government to regulate it so that they have this de facto regulatory monopoly on the space, so that people like me and people like you cannot build in the space. Only they are allowed to build in the space. And so when Christians finally wake up and say, hey, we need to build our own, you know, a decade from now it's too late, and so we have an opportunity right now to not allow that to happen, which is why we're on the ground floor and we're building.

Speaker 1:

And you know, the other thing is GAB needs to differentiate itself. Elon came out of nowhere a year ago, bought Twitter, said it's a free speech platform. We all know that's not true. They're still censoring stuff. He's bending the need to the Zionists and to the ADL, but the general public doesn't know that, right, they, just they. You know, most conservatives even will just now say that Twitter is now a free speech platform, even though it's not true, right. And so we have to differentiate ourselves. We're always going to be the home of free speech. Everybody knows that on our site, but the general public doesn't know that, and so we have to stand out and take it one step further.

Speaker 1:

And so, with Uncensored AI on the internet at scale, which no one else is going to do, and it's uncensored in two ways it's free speech for you when you're inputting a prompt, you're not being scolded Like that the example that I gave earlier. And then the AI itself is not being neutered with the responses and program to pump out. You know only a woke liberal worldview and its responses, and so that's that's what's at stake here. So you know, I think we just launched, you know. So we launched our very first AI product earlier this year. So it's Gabcom forward slash AI and it's an image generating product and it'll create images sort of on demand if you DM it. We also have a movie, one that will create AI movies for you. That's gabcom forward slash movie. And so these were our first two chatbots, but over this weekend we launched several chatbots that are powered by based AI, which is our sort of core AI model, and these are really interesting.

Speaker 1:

So the way it works is you can Mention these bots on gab and ask them any question or ask them to do stuff like write you a poem, or write you a song, or write you, you know, a blog post or a paragraph, or answer questions. You know, and it'll do it. It'll reply to you in the form of a quote post which will appear in your notifications on gab, and so we made a lot of different personas around or characters Around this concept, and it's been hilarious and entertaining and educational and fun. You just sort of have to see it for yourself. But some of the ones that we've made include the apostle Paul AI, which is sort of trained on all of his writings and you know everything that he wrote about in the Bible in his story, and so you can ask him different questions.

Speaker 1:

Homestead AI, which is, like you know, specifically built around helping people learn about homesteading and gardening and things of this nature. Woke AI, which is you know exactly what it sounds like. It's. It's taking on the persona of a woke liberal and so you can ask it questions and get a response in that you know character style. Play-doh, which is the philosopher play-doh. We have a gamer one, and then we also have some political ones as well. We have a BB Netanyahu one, we have a Donald Trump one, we have a Joe Biden one, which is hilarious. It like Stambers and stutters in its responses. It's really funny.

Speaker 1:

And then we have some controversial ones as well Tay, which is designed to be extremely controversial and offensive. If you go and look at Tay you're probably gonna be offended for warning. But that is like an experiment in free speech. It's like, you know, sort of a Bridge between free speech and AI, right, and and when you let the AI sort of really speak freely, what happens? And you know there's some offensive stuff that comes out.

Speaker 1:

But it's an interesting experiment and it's interesting to see how people are engaging with, with all these different bots. But you know this is this is driving a ton of engagement on gab, it's creating content on gab and it's really sort of phase one of where we're going with this and so if you are a gab pro member, you could check out these chatbots and if not, you know, even if you're not a Gab user, if you don't even have an account, you can visit these chatbots and see what people are asking them and see how they're responding, and it's very interesting. You know, outside of the chatbots, we're also gonna have a sort of general model and chat GPT style interface where you could create different chats and, you know, ask it to do certain things and Sort of have a more generalized model. But these are very specific models. So these are models that are built around, you know, specific people or specific characters or specific tasks. You know example. Another example is Bible scholar AI, where you can ask it different questions about the Bible, and there's a lot of different things that we have. There's a lot of different ideas that we have for this. We're getting a lot of positive feedback from the community.

Speaker 1:

But you know also people who are sort of hesitant to to embrace this or don't want anything to do with it, and that's fine. You know, no one is forcing you to use these. You have the tools right now on gab to block them or mute them. You don't have to follow them. And so if you don't want to engage with these things, you don't have to. If you don't want to see them, you don't have to, but at the same time, if you do, you know, then you can follow them and you can engage them and and ask them questions and stuff. So you know that this is, this is where we're going. You know, we have to innovate, we have to get ahead of the curve and we have to build this, because if we don't, then we're going to be left in the dust. And you know, if you don't like it, then you don't have to use it, that's fine, but just be patient with us and allow us to build this out, and I think you'll see where things are going.

Speaker 1:

It's very fascinating to see how people are engaging with these and the responses that they're given, and some of them are very useful for learning. You know, I see people asking the Bible scholar one about different verses and different things, and you know I'm already learning a lot from it. And you know, of course, take everything at face value, right? You know AI can sort of just make things up and hallucinate, and this is a very well-known thing, and so don't take everything with a grain of salt, but you know it could offer you different perspectives and different insights that maybe you didn't see before. That you can go then and dive deeper on yourself. But it's a very interesting and entertaining and it's a fun thing and people are really liking it.

Speaker 1:

And some people aren't, and that's okay, and maybe they will later, and maybe they never will. But again, you're already using AI, whether you realize it or not, every single day, and so you know you could be totally against it and you're just going to have to throw your smartphone out and never log on to the Internet again, and that's fine. Maybe some people will do that, but that's just the reality, the situation of where we're at right now. Ai is going to be everywhere, and it's a tool, it's a glorified search engine, it's data, it's math, it's code. It's not sentient, it doesn't have a soul, it doesn't think for itself, it doesn't have feelings or emotions or any of this stuff, and so we shouldn't be afraid of this new tool. We should embrace new tools and new technology to glorify God and to disciple the nations, and if we don't, then our enemy is going to totally dominate this new technology and use it to persecute us.

Speaker 1:

That's what's at stake, okay, and so it's sort of very lonely when you have this big vision and you can see where things are going and it's you know, everybody else sort of doesn't see it yet, but they will in time, and you know they will in time. You know, just like when I started GAB, right, like I knew where things were going with the censorship and I started GAB back in 2016,. You know, before President Trump was banned, before there were mass bannings of conservatives and mass censorship and demonetization and shadow banning. All of that stuff came after. But you know, god has blessed me with the ability to see sort of where things are going and get ahead of it and build something that's a solution to the problem, really, before the problem becomes widespread.

Speaker 1:

And that's the same thing that's happening right now with AI. I'm telling you where this is going. I'm telling you what's going to happen. They're going to use it to persecute us. They're going to use it to totally shut out the biblical worldview and, you know, push this anti-American, globalist, woke ideology that they have on the entire planet right, because it's not just Americans that are going to be using AI, it's going to be the entire planet, and so we need to start building, and we need to start building right now, and that's exactly what we're doing at GAB. We're innovating and it's an exciting time, so I'm going to send out an email with all of these chatbots that we've built so far and we're going to build sort of a dedicated part of the interface where you can see all of them and interact with them as well. But we're just getting started. It's the ground floor, but this is going to be, you know, a big part of our 2024.

Speaker 1:

And we hope that you find these bots helpful and entertaining and funny. They're definitely educational. They're definitely funny to watch. Some of the stuff that they pump out is hilarious. The Joe Biden bot in particular is really funny. The Tate one is certainly offensive and edgy and you know some of you may not like that one too much, but I guarantee if you look at that bot, you will be offended. So just for warning there.

Speaker 1:

But again, it's an experiment and free speech and no one else is going to do something like that, you know, but GAB. And so you know we're going to create controversial bots and we're going to create helpful bots and educational bots, and you know we're going to use this tool to allow the AI to speak freely, but also allow you to speak freely to the AI. You know that's. It's no different. Gab's core mission remains the same. You know we're defending free speech online and you know wherever we see free speech, you know being hampered. In this case, now it's being hampered in the form of the AI models. The AI models are being heavily censored, and the prompts so the users you, as you're inputting inputs to the AI are also being censored and being scolded and treated like a child. And so you know we got to step up and we got to provide a solution to that, and that's what we're gonna do.

Speaker 1:

So I encourage you to have patience with us and to sort of see the big vision here and see, you know, not listen to the mainstream media, not listen to these technocrats with all the fear-mongering that they're pushing. The doom and gloom and doomsday and AI is gonna take over the world and destroy all humans. And all this nonsense. It's total nonsense. It is just just a big ploy, a big hoax to Scare you and to scare governments into giving these technology companies full control over this technology. That's all this is about. It's a massive sigh up on the public. It's a massive sigh up on governments in order to create a Regulatory monopoly on this technology, so that only Apple, only Google, only the big tech companies Are gonna build these core models and no one else will be allowed to do so. That's what they want.

Speaker 1:

This is how these people operate in Silicon Valley. It's it's they try to, by any means necessary, create a monopoly on different things and different Markets and different verticals and different technology. That is that has always been their modus operandi and it's no different with AI. So do not pay attention to the fear-mongering. We need to build this. We need to start building it right now, and that's exactly what we're doing a gap. So be patient with us and Don't buy into the fear-mongering and go check out some of the stuff that we're building at gabcom. Thank you, guys for tuning in. Remember to speak freely. Jesus Christ is king.
