Coaching Kids Curling
The goal of this podcast is to help those who are involved with youth curling programs, including coaches, volunteers, program organizers and parents.
Our primary focus will be on "U12" or "Little Rocks" curling, but this podcast will occasionally touch on topics of interest to U15/U18/U21 coaches and organizers. Coach Glenn Gabriel will offer advice, share resources and give you the occasional pick-me-up when you need it.

Getting Involved in Diversity & Inclusivity With Brittany Tran
Brittany Tran is a competitive curler from Alberta who recently participated in the 2021 Scotties and Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship in the Calgary "bubble." An Asian-Canadian, she decided last year to step up and help with Curling Canada's and Curling Alberta's Diversity and Inclusivity initiatives, including CC's new D&I digital resource guide. In this episode, we talk about her early days of curling, what led her to get involved in D&I, and different ways for clubs and programs to encourage more BIPOC participation.
Some of the topics we discuss include:
* Getting involved in curling through her family (1:56)
* Learning about the sport alongside her Vietnamese father (3:51)
* Growing up in Red Deer, Alta. (6:30)
* Why she decided to get involved in Diversity & Inclusion (9:00)
* Why different formats to play the sport are good (15:53)
* Different ways to get BIPOC kids to try curling (19:44)
* Playing on a competitive team with other Asian-Canadians (23:43)
* Does she consider herself a role model for Asian-Canadians in curling? (24:35)
* What would she say to a young Asian-Canadian girl who wanted to try curling? (25:32)
