93 | What to Do When Your Job Search Is Taking Longer Than You Thought
Jun 26, 2023 Season 6 Episode 93
Karen D. Weeks and Dan Carr

Job searching can be a long and tedious process, and if it’s taking longer than you expected, you are probably not doing anything wrong. In this episode, we’re sharing the timelines to expect when you’re looking for a job, what to expect from a recruiter’s perspective, and what to do if you feel like your job search is never ending.

Some key takeaways from this episode include:

  • There are a lot of factors that can influence how long a job search might take. Three to six months is pretty standard, but your industry, season of life, and companies you’re applying to can all impact how long it takes.
  • Summer months, holidays, and vacations can slow down the hiring process on the employer’s side. September through mid-November is peak interview season to get roles filled before the holidays.
  • This season of applying to jobs is a good time to reconnect with your network and build relationships with professionals in your industry. Additionally, make sure you’re practicing self-care and doing things that make you feel confident and grounded.
