[00:00:00] Hello. Hello. Hello, and welcome to another episode of Wonder Boldly Today's episode is a really special one. It's a behind the scenes in inside. Look into Harbor side, bath and body. Night spa routine that we did with Hayley rose.

[00:00:27] Owner and founder of Harborside Bath and Body.

[00:00:30] In preparation for the evening, she had us fill out a questionnaire. So she knew our skin type. And then she sent us samples of Elena. Organic products. We all came with our hair back. Some of us had our jammies on and over zoom. She walked us through these amazing products and we applied them. She told us how to apply them. And it was just an amazing experience.

[00:00:56] And I have to say personally for myself, Uh, I get bags under my eyes. And after I went through this routine with her that night, the next morning, when I woke up, I didn't have bags under my eyes. And I really think it's the products that we were using in the way she was teaching us

[00:01:12] on how to massage our skin.

[00:01:15] It was absolutely amazing. And I wanted to share this episode with you. And also in respect for your time. I didn't want to share the whole entire time we were together. It was a little bit over an hour. But I felt it was really important to share some of it with you. So I took a lot of things out. But I left in all the important information that Hayley shared with us during our time together.

[00:01:41] We had so much fun doing it. There was a lot of laughing and sharing of stories, which I did cut out of this episode, but I wanted to let you know that here, because if you decide to sign up for one of these spa nights, it was really so much fun to get together with your girlfriends and share [00:02:00] stories and just have a lot of fun while we took care of our skin.

[00:02:04]

[00:02:04] If you listen to this episode and you're like, I want to do that too. Maybe with your girlfriends or you just want to have a one-on-one. Hayley is offering this. You can either sign up for a free consultation and she'll meet with you and set up a five step plan. And then you'll schedule a time to get together either.

[00:02:24] Like I said, with your girlfriends or just yourself on a one. And she'll walk you through how to use all of the products and you could also just fill out the skincare questionnaire and then she will reach out to you and you can schedule a time to virtually get together.

[00:02:40] So, what she does is she gets to know your skin type. She'll send you samples based on your skin types. And she can walk through that with you. The samples are $25, and then if you end up ordering products after your session with her, you get that $25 towards anything that you're ordering.

[00:02:57] So I know after you listened to this episode, you are going to want to find out more details and really find out what will work well with your skin. So you can reach out to Hayley. I'll put all of that information in the show notes. with all that said, thank you so much as always for listening to Wonder Boldly as we support small businesses together and now let's listen into our spa night with Hayley rows of Harborside, bath, and body. Enjoy.

[00:03:24] Ladies, I want to introduce you to Hayley. I met Hayley online. We've never met in person.

[00:03:30] And, She has this amazing story, and that amazing story is that she had breast cancer when she was a young mom, she had always used products throughout her life. She was very into products and makeup and all the things so fast forward. She was just like, all these things I've been putting on my body, just wondered about it.

[00:03:52] Could some of these things that she was putting on her skin be affecting her health.

[00:03:57] She was in corporate works for a fortune 500 [00:04:00] company. Thankfully, she beat cancer. Hey, congrats. 15 years last month. That's awesome. Congratulations. And that's so exciting. So exciting. And so she decided that she, was going to leave corporate for other reasons, just she decided it was time and she wanted to help her, wanted to help her hometown revitalize their downtown.

[00:04:29] She opened a. Bath and Body Shop, Harborside Bath and Body, and she curates natural products, things that are good for us when we put on our skin, our body, and she works with women owned businesses, curating, and learning from them.

[00:04:46] so where is your shop, Harborside? So it's in northern Michigan, which I actually worked and had my career in Oklahoma.

[00:04:55] Yep. And when I retired there, my husband and I built our retirement home in my hometown. And thenI was like, I got to do something and decided I thought this is something completely different and it will be super fun,

[00:05:08] So that was a little bit about Hayley. And now we're going to jump into the skin products and going through her explanation. On those products and us, the ladies that were part of the spa night.

[00:05:23] Applying them because she sent us a bunch of samples. Let's listen in. I think I sent each of you an overview of Elina Organics products. She doesn't typically sell in retail stores. You're not going to find her on Amazon.

[00:05:36] You're not going to find her in stores where she does sell to. Because she's, Has a background in chemistry and she's a licensed anesthetician. She started her company 25 years ago. I like to say she was organic before organic was cool because that's all she ever, she's ever used.

[00:05:52] And she started her first skincare back then and she used it primarily, but then she opened up her spa [00:06:00] her first spa when over 25 years ago, and she used solely products that she developed, and then she opened up another spa in Chicago and another spa in Florida,

[00:06:11] she actually was named for having the best facial in the windy city.

[00:06:16] Years ago. So yeah, her products are really good.she has a limited clientele and she mostly does like celebrity clients and things like that. And then most of her time is spent in the lab where she makes the products and she's training her son, to do it as well.

[00:06:31] He works with her in the lab and they make all the products by hand. It's all small batch. She sells to over 175 holistic clinical spas across the us So that's primarily her market, and that's where people can buy her products at. So I was thrilled that she allowed me to sell in the store and she's been wonderful to work with because, I took my whole staff down to one of her spas in Michigan and, and we all got facials there and she did this big training session. And she is so good about answering any questions and everything. So I've learned a ton from her. Still have a long way to go. She's wonderful. So those are the products that we're going to be using.

[00:07:16] So we're going to start off with the cleanser and if you haven't used organic products before, a little goes a long way. So you don't really have to use a bunch. We have two cleansers

[00:07:27] a botanical and an herbal. So the botanical is more for the dry skin and the herbal is more for the combination to oily skin. But the reason I gave you both to try is because the botanical is much more gentle. So you have options. I just wanted to try both of them, see which one you like better.

[00:07:48] Skin care is, it's personal and people have, people like different textures, people like different scents, things like that. So I would say use like a nickel size. I use the botanical [00:08:00] and though I have combination skin as well.

[00:08:02] But even though I have combination skin, since I'm, past menopause age here, and my skin has dried out considerably, but I still get oil in my t zone, not bad, but I just prefer the botanical. The herbal is all botanicals as well, it just has some things in it that's a little bit differently, like it has peppermint in it, and peppermint's an antiseptic, it's going to help clear those pores out and things like that. So you choose whichever one you want to use. Just use maybe a nickel size amount and then you just rub it on your face. So it's good to just use really light fingertips and go on your face and your neck And just rub in a circular motion.

[00:08:44] This is fun. So now you don't have, ladies, now we don't have to wash up later. This is it. Yes, bonus. I was thinking that.

[00:08:51] Then when you take it off, it's always good when you take it off, you can either do it in circular motions or you can go up on your neck and then out. this way on your skin. And that's more for lymphatic drainage because you can get some drainage in your face here and through your lymph nodes.

[00:09:08] And so it's just a good way to help that drainage and it decreases puffiness if you go from inside out.

[00:09:13] Cool. Good to know. So we're going to do the whole routine tonight and you don't have to do this whole routine every night.

[00:09:19] If we mask and exfoliate, I would recommend only doing that one to two times a week. But we're going to go ahead and do it tonight just so you guys can try it. And we'll do the mask and exfoliating next.

[00:09:31] I have to say this cleanser is so soft. Okay good. Which one did you use? I used the botanical.

[00:09:40] Okay. Is it good enough to just wipe it off? You don't need to, I'm always like rinsing with a lot, rinsing with water. Yeah, if you use a wet washcloth and take it off, that's all you need.

[00:09:48] The next step in this routine would be to exfoliate

[00:09:52] You can have a physical exfoliator that actually has some level of grittiness to it, and you can actually feel it. And what that exfoliation is [00:10:00] doing, is it taking off dry or dead skin cells that have not been able to drop off naturally.

[00:10:06] So it just helps keep your face. Fresh and then there's chemical exfoliants, which people throw the Raiders up, but it's not a it's not chemicals in the exfoliated. It's actually a chemical reaction that happens. So it's natural alpha hydroxy acids, which come from fruit or natural beta hydroxy acids, which comes from like leaves and trees things like that.

[00:10:30] Those are great for people that don't like any grittiness at all, but they will dissolve the dead skin. So that's the chemical reaction that's happening. So when you put that on it just dissolves the dead skin away and you take it off.

[00:10:40] Those are the different types.

[00:10:41] So you guys all have different ones. I wanted to go over them really quick just so you guys would know. I think everybody had the amber collagen one. That one is a mask only. There's nothing in it to exfoliate the skin.

[00:10:57] It's her newest product and it's become one of my favorites. It's very hydrating. You don't have to use it. I'm just going to go over all the ones that I've sent out so you guys can figure out which one you want to try because I gave you each different ones depending on your skin type. But she also has an amber collagen cream.

[00:11:14] Which is super moisturizing.

[00:11:16] The next 1 I have is a Ronnie a berry so the ronniaberry is one of those chemical so it's going to be an exfoliant and a mask.

[00:11:25] It's very light. You don't even have to take it off. So it has a very fresh scent to it. You just put it on and you follow it with your toner and your moisturizer and it just, exfoliates your skin while you sleep. It's very gentle. The next one is the probiotic polish and the probiotic polish.

[00:11:45] is one that it's an exfoliating mask. Okay. It's the only mask that I would recommend doing in the morning

[00:11:52] It's a great polishing mask for all skin types, but especially those with very dry skin or those that are prone to [00:12:00] rosacea. So what it is it has a healthy bacteria in there. So it actually balances the pH of your. Of your skin.

[00:12:08] The cranberry rose skin refiner. That is another exfoliating mask. So it's a two in one product does both things. It is one that Is good for all skin types.

[00:12:21] I love it. It's loaded with antioxidants, which the antioxidants are really good for. oxidative stresses that are like Pollution in the air.

[00:12:31] It could be smoke, it could be if you were by a campfire and there's smoke coming up. All of those things can damage your skin. Stress can damage your skin. Eating habits, drinking habits, all of that stuff. If you do too much, you know it's gonna damage your skin.

[00:12:47] So these antioxidants actually fight. The bad effects of those. And so then I gave an amethyst polish. It helps reduce redness. It has honey in it to nourish your skin. It has fulvic acid, which bulbic acid is really good at it's an anti inflammatory, so it's going to help any type of, inflammatory skin conditions that you may have.

[00:13:11] It's, it won an award in 2018 by Dermascope, which is a national magazine for holistic estheticians, and it was the esthetician's choice in 2018

[00:13:22] The Sahara Souffle.is very good for dry or dehydrated skin. That has camel milk in it.

[00:13:29] I love this mask because one, it smells fabulous. It really does. But camels, they can go days without drinking water. They have these enzymes. Yeah, they have these enzymes that hold the hydration.

[00:13:44] And so the enzymes is passed through the milk, It's a chemical one. So you're not going to, you're not going to feel that grittiness at all. It's probably my favorite one to use in the winter because it is just super nourishing. And so you just put it on, you let it set for 10 minutes or so, and then you wash it [00:14:00] off.

[00:14:00] All of the masks are good for 10 to 15 minutes and you can, there's nothing wrong with leaving them on longer. In fact, some of them like the Sahara souffle, you can actually sleep in if you wanted to. And if your real skin is really dry and you needed to really get a, you could sleep in the Sahara souffle the cranberry rose they say to use that 10 to 15 minutes, but I leave mine on sometimes for 30 minutes because they say the longer you extend it, the better the anti aging benefits.

[00:14:26] I'm all about that. If the only reason you should take it off is if it's really bothering you, if you, if for any reason it's bothering you, then just take it off.

[00:14:34] I did not talk about sapphire. that's another really good mask for dry and aging skin is what they say. But it has hyaluronic acid in it, vegan hyaluronic acid. It has,

[00:14:45] gotukula, which I don't know if you've ever heard of gotukula, but it actually promotes collagen production. So it has crushed sapphires in it. Same with the amethyst polish. It has crushed amethyst in it, and that's what is the exfoliating stuff. But it's very gentle, both the sapphire and the amethyst one.

[00:15:01] It's not super gritty. So you can choose whichever one you want to try and we'll just go ahead and put it on. So I will warn you, I grabbed my Cranberry Rose Skin Refiner and It does look very orangey when you put it on.

[00:15:15] So, I might have a red face here, orangey face. And this one has, in addition to the antioxidants in it, it has beta carotene, which is the natural the natural version of vitamin A, which is what retinol is. so it's very good. Helps plumb up those fine lines and wrinkles. And a lot of the things in here as well in this particular mask will help any type of hyperpigmentation, dark spas.

[00:15:42] It helps it fade those. Are we supposed to avoid under eye? No, you can do it under eye. That's fine. Yep. All of these masks are gentle enough to do under the eye.Okay. Then would go to your serum or your treatment. And so we would be doing the night one

[00:15:59] [00:16:00] Serums are just things you leave in on your skin

[00:16:02] And what is the serum do? Oh, the serums they're typically called like treatments or serums and they They're geared toward more problematic areas. So it could be they're trying to correct an issue. So if there's inflammation, it may be trying to help the inflammation heal. If there's redness, it might be to help it.

[00:16:24] This particular one helps sun damage skin and helps with inflammation.

[00:16:29] So the eye cream, you guys should have either an emerald elixir or an intensive repair.

[00:16:35] They both work generally similar. They do have different ingredients. They typically say that the emerald eye is more for oily skin, and the intensive eye is more for. normal to dry.

[00:16:49] So for the bags under my eyes, will any of this help that? Or is that just the thin skin? No part of it is the thin skin.

[00:17:00] Yeah. Actually bags, probably the best one would be the emerald elixir, the emerald eye elixir, because that has It has like caffeine in it and so that will help perk up all that stuff. So the next one is the night cream And I think most everybody has the super antioxidant night cream some of you may have the peptide mask too the peptide mask Is a leave on mask.

[00:17:29] It's just really hydrating. But I would also say, and even though I don't have samples of it for that new Amber cream is thicker than either one of these products, but it is super moisturizing. It's really good. But this one, like I said, the super antioxidant night cream, this one is good for sun damage, inflammation.

[00:17:49] If you want to reduce any dark spas, anything like that, this is really good. It's loaded with antioxidants. That's good. Thank you. Super antioxidant night cream. Smells like a spa to me. [00:18:00] Yeah, it's really, it does have that scent to it. And it feels so smooth.

[00:18:04] I have to say how good my face feels. feels so good. Okay, good. Yay. Yeah, me too. I can't look at myself in the mirror. Yeah I just sent a picture before and after to christine and nicole and I see a difference It's awesome

[00:18:20] Oh, that's wonderful.

[00:18:21] Thank you so much, Hayley. Thank you so much for your time sending us all these samples. Oh, my gosh, so much work. We really appreciate it.

[00:18:30] Yeah, Hayley. This was really awesome. Oh, wonderful. Thank you. You so I hope you ladies have a wonderful evening thank you so much. Thank you so much guys for coming. I appreciate it. Okay. Bye guys. Good night. You don't have to wash up now.
