The Bible Provocateur

LIVE DISCUSSION: Abigail & David - (PART 3 of 3)

The Bible Provocateur Season 2025 Episode 136

Send us a text

The divine ultimatum stands before every human being: peace with God or war against Him. In this thought-provoking Bible study on 1 Samuel 25, we unpack the rich gospel typology hidden within the story of David, Nabal, and Abigail.

The name "Nabal" translates to "fool" or "senseless one" – a fitting description for this man who foolishly rejected David's reasonable request despite receiving protection from David's men. This rejection mirrors humanity's irrational response to God's grace, reflecting Paul's words that "the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing."

Abigail emerges as the central Christ-figure, embodying redemption through her decisive action. Four times the text emphasizes that she "made haste" or "hurried" – illustrating the urgency with which we should respond to God's call. Standing between David's righteous anger and her foolish husband, Abigail intercedes with gifts and humility, seeking peace just as Christ mediates between God's justice and sinful humanity.

The narrative reaches its powerful climax when Nabal dies and Abigail becomes David's wife – moving from union with foolishness to union with the future king. This transformation perfectly captures the gospel in one sentence: "God slays your Nabal and marries you to Christ."

Our lively discussion explores multiple layers of spiritual significance, revealing how Scripture contains endless treasures for those willing to look beyond surface details. Participants share personal insights about finding Christ throughout the Old Testament and how these ancient stories directly apply to our relationship with God today.

Whether you're new to Bible study or a seasoned student of Scripture, this exploration will deepen your understanding of how God reveals himself through every biblical narrative. Join us in discovering how these ancient words speak directly to our most pressing spiritual needs today.

Speaker 1:

David was talking about peace to this man, and so the opposite of peace is war. There's no peace, and with God there is only peace. Or you are at war with him, one or the other. God did not leave any human being to be indifferent to the situation between man and God. There is no room for indifference. Man is not what is referred to as adiaphora, not indifferent. You are either on one side or the other.

Speaker 1:

When you reject the peace of God, when you reject the measures that God has put in place to establish peace, which is reconciliation to God, there's nothing left but to be slaughtered. And David was that kind of a man. And here's the thing David is the one that God said was a man after my own heart. The world don't like hearing that, but that's the god who we serve, amen. That's the god who we serve, the captain of hosts. There's a reason why we were captives that he took into captivity. We're not messing around. He's not messing around, he's a king, the king, king of kings, lord of lords, sovereign in salvation, like my brother Star Tide says. Sovereign in salvation, sovereign in providence, sovereign in every aspect of our being, aspect of our being, and we all, mankind, at any given point is either at peace with God or he is at variance with God. And if you are at variance with God, there's nothing left for you but his sword.

Speaker 1:

You got to read Psalm, chapter 50, verse 20, a sword that hangs over our heads, a sharpened, glittering sword, and people are going like I don't think I should believe, because I don't like this message of fear, because it doesn't matter. You should fear If it brings you to Christ. Fear If love brings you to Christ. Fear If love brings you to Christ. Love Whatever it is, get to Christ Whatever it is. So in verse 19. Nope, not yet 18.

Speaker 1:

Oh 18, yeah, no, I'm at 14.

Speaker 2:

No, she just read 17.

Speaker 1:

I know, but she read a block. I want to get through this part. So in verse 14, no, she read a block, but I wanted to go through it. She read 14 through 18.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so one of the young men told Abigail he went to Abigail and he says and he says Nabal's. He went to Abigail, nabal's wife and he says Nabal. He went to Abigail, Nabal's wife and he said to her behold, david sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master. So this is a guy who worked for Nabal, who knows David, that he was good. And then he says but then, when we told him what David said, he railed on the servants that David sent. He railed on them. David was nice and kind, but he railed on them. So this wasn't good, this was not good. Then the guy goes on to say in verse 15, but the men were very good to us.

Speaker 1:

This is one of Nabal's guys in verse 15. He tells Abigail David's men were good to us. We were not hurt, neither did we miss anything as long as we were conversant with them. As long as we didn't miss anything as long as we were conversant with them when we were in the fields. In other words, we had communication. In other words, we had communication and there was no problem, everything was good. And he gives a testimony. One of Nabal's guys joined up with David's people, got along with them, and now he comes back giving a testimony to Nabal that Nabal rejects. So then this one servant goes to Abigail, nabal's wife, because he obviously knows she's the smart one of the two Nabal's wife for now, nabal's wife for now, exactly. So then he goes to her and basically his expectation is for her to do something Right. That's why he goes to her, and basically his expectation is for her to do something Right. That's why he goes to her. What other woman in the Bible had a similar experience?

Speaker 4:

as Abigail. Anybody think of one?

Speaker 1:

What was that? Lisa, queen, esther, esther, perfect, that's what I was going after. Esther was a perfect example of this Because she had to make a big decision because of what Mordecai had discovered. But by the time Mordecai discovered what was going on, there had been a law that was already made and established by Haman to wipe out all of the Jews. But at this time, ruth, uh, esther, so, but the queen, nobody knows she's a jew, nobody knows she's a jew. So mordecai. Mordecai goes to her and basically says you can go to the story. I'm paraphrasing, paraphrasing. But mordecai basically says first of all, they pass a law to kill the jews. Don't think you can escape that, because you're a jew too. Don't think that because nobody else knows that. They won't find out and come take your life too, because it's the law.

Speaker 2:

And Mordecai is a type of Christ in Esther.

Speaker 1:

Mordecai. He's a type of Christ, but also Esther is a type of Christ, Just like Abigail. Just like Abigail. This is what I'm getting at.

Speaker 7:

That's what I was saying, I was just about to say.

Speaker 3:

I was like I don't know if you can have two, but she's looking like the one.

Speaker 8:

She's looking like Christ.

Speaker 1:

This is what I'm talking about. This is a good group because you guys got your minds going this is what's happening, she. This is a good group because you guys got your, you got, you got your minds going that this is what's happening. She is standing in the gap. She is. She is the one that is expected by this guy to be able to bring about reason. She's a reasonable woman, she's intellectual, she's beautiful and she's smart, and she's intellectually smart. Now then it goes on and it says in verse 15,. It says in verse 15, but the men were very good. I already mentioned that. Let me go to 16. They were a wall unto us. This is what the servant says, nabal's servant about David's servant. They were a wall unto us both night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. What does that mean?

Speaker 3:

They were a wall Protection.

Speaker 8:

Yes, protecting all day and night all of the things. They protected them.

Speaker 1:

They were a wall, they guarded them, they made sure nothing harmed them. You see, david was good to Nabal's people. You know what I mean. And we need to look at this and see the goodness of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He's good, he's good to us.

Speaker 7:

It's the grace of God, brother Jonathan, that we all walk in all the time, that we don't realize. Nabal's servants actually saw that grace and said this protection has been there the whole time. Look at how many. We play the role of Nabal a lot of times because, man, we're walking in this grace of God every day and then we just act like it's nothing. Who is that? Oh, you know, I worked for this, whatever.

Speaker 2:

And Nabal's name means fool or senseless Yep. I always tell people that what's really cool is like when you're studying like this and you see names pop up. Find out what their names mean, Because it ties so much to the story.

Speaker 1:

Exactly. Yeah, his name means fool or churlish one. He's just an evil dude, he's like. He's like. He's just like an idiot. You can't tell him anything, you can't talk to him, you can't reason with them. I know a lot of people like that. I meet somebody like that at least once a day. Them, I know a lot of people like that.

Speaker 2:

I meet somebody like that at least once a day. Yeah, so yeah, but the the things that you want to look at are people's names and the towns because the towns have names and then they translate to something, and it it brings the story together.

Speaker 3:

God did not waste a single word. No, he did not. You.

Speaker 1:

You know what, if I might Hold on? Hold on, hold on one second everybody.

Speaker 3:

Mariah go ahead. I wanted to add to there is a scripture that says that the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

But to those who are saved. It is sorry, you know, but it just reminds me of that because, yeah, I think Paul is a fool. He was given and he was given that gospel and turned away like a fool Right To perish.

Speaker 1:

Right, he was for sure. Now here's, here's something interesting. Now here's, here's where it gets. Really I can't say really gets good. It just gets better and better. Right, so, verse 18. Notice the first three, the first four verses.

Speaker 1:

Angie, you got your Bible in front of you. I sure do Read the first four verses of verse 18. What in front of you? I sure do Read the first four verses of verse 18. Now, keep in mind the servant that used to be Nabal's, who worked for David, comes back to Abigail and says you need to do something. So look at verse 18, the first four verses. Look what it says Does Abigail wasted no time in taking 200 loaves of bread? Hold on, stop right there. Stop right there. Read the first part, the first part. She wasted what Abigail wasted no time. Abigail wasted no time. In the version I'm reading, it says Abigail made haste. You see, now I want to point something out because I want you to see this as we go through the rest of the passage. So, angie, if you will read just that part again in verse 19. I mean, I'm sorry, in verse 18, the first part.

Speaker 8:

That Abigail wasted no time.

Speaker 1:

All right, stop there. Stop there. Now go down to verse 23.

Speaker 8:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Read verse 23.

Speaker 8:

When Abigail saw David, she hurried to dismount from her donkey.

Speaker 2:

Same hasted.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, she hurried. She hasted, she fell on her face. That was a good one too, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm focusing on her hasting and her hurrying. Yeah, all right, now stay with me, go to verse 34. Read it Now. Stay with me, go to verse 34.

Speaker 8:

Read it. Okay, that's fine. What is 34? There we go. As for Adonai, the God of Israel lives. Who kept me from harming you if you did not rush to meet me?

Speaker 2:

Stop there it says haste too.

Speaker 8:

Yep, there you go If you didn't rush to meet me in my translation, but yeah.

Speaker 1:

Same thing. This is David talking.

Speaker 8:

David's telling her that, had you not hasted, things would have gone really bad and see that's three times it's mentioned in that chapter. Go to verse 42.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you're going to find it's not Go to verse 42.

Speaker 8:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Read it.

Speaker 8:

Verse 42 says Abigail did hurry. There it is again.

Speaker 1:

Right there, abigail hurried, hurried.

Speaker 2:

And that's why we run to the father. Brother man, we don't haste, we haste running to the father. Does everybody see this? Does?

Speaker 8:

everybody see this. That's so good.

Speaker 1:

This the Father Does everybody see this.

Speaker 7:

It's so good, it's beautiful isn't it?

Speaker 8:

Yes, I love it.

Speaker 1:

Now you see why the scripture says today is the day Now. Move immediately, if not sooner. Now, in verse 18, you got these four instances where it talks about Abigail hasting, hurrying, rushing. You know what? She was A person that did not waste time Because she saw what. What did she see? That?

Speaker 7:

caused her to haste.

Speaker 1:

She saw that what was about to come? What did she?

Speaker 7:

see. That caused her to haste.

Speaker 2:

She saw that what was about to come, and so she was making a peace offering to these people, and she wasn't playing no games. She was sitting on G waiting on O. Amen, sister, amen.

Speaker 3:

Say it out loud yes, I love that.

Speaker 8:

I do too.

Speaker 1:

Meg is like that person at the party Doesn't get started until she shows up.

Speaker 4:

Well, me and her would get along very well.

Speaker 1:

But Abigail, all these things, and Abigail is a tribute To the faith and she's definitely a tribute to women, because Abigail is a person that was about her business. Amen, he was about business.

Speaker 2:

Just like Jesus was about his father's business.

Speaker 1:

Luke 2 49, my favorite verse in the entire Bible yes.

Speaker 8:

That's what I tell a lot of people too. I said it's only business.

Speaker 1:

So in 18, she makes hast, makes haste. She got food, she got all the stuff that david was asking for. She puts it all together, verse 19. She says to her servants you go before me now, behold, I will come after you. But she didn't tell her husband. Why do you think she didn't tell her husband? Why do you think she didn't tell Nabal? Because he was being a hater. Because he's a fool.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, he says that.

Speaker 1:

Because he's a fool. He's a fool getting away Right. So she did what he should have done. So she made haste to do it. Okay, Because she wanted to stop what she knew was coming If she didn't do something she took his place.

Speaker 8:

Go ahead, brother. She took his place.

Speaker 7:

I just want to relate one parable that we see in the New Testament. When people, when people, jesus kept asking them to come follow him and they kept making excuses Well, I need to go bury the dead, I need to go do this and another. That's why we don't go do those other things. You make haste to go follow him when he calls and he commands, and that's it.

Speaker 1:

So she says. So she says it says she made haste. She got the 200 loaves, she got the two bottles of wine, the five sheep dressed, five measures parched corn, 100 clusters of raisins, 100 cakes of figs, and she laid them on the asses and carried a burden. And this is what she said, verse 19. She said to her servant go on before me. Behold, I come after you. But she told her husband, he did not tell her husband Nabal. And it was so, as she rode on the ad, that she came down by the covert of the hill, by the secret side, by the blind side of the hill, and behold, david and his men came down against her and she met them.

Speaker 2:

You know it's interesting about this too. I think one of my favorite words in the entire Bible is behold. It said one thousand two hundred ninety eight times in the entire bible is behold, behold. It said 1298 times in the bible, and while she is moving fast, when you hear the word behold, it causes you to pause in the scripture and it and it causes you to really take it in, like listen and something's about to happen, or revelation comes after behold. So I encourage you, like when you see these we're about to see it again but just pause and let the spirit speak, because I really feel, like when it comes to behold, like there's something in the spirit that happens when you read that and what's after that, right. So that's encouragement. When you're reading as well too, it's really good.

Speaker 1:

So she says in verse 19,. She said to her servants go on before me. Behold, I come after you. But she didn't tell her husband Nabal Now in verse 21,. Well, I'm going to stop there until tomorrow. I'm going to stop there until tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

No, let's just get to 27. What?

Speaker 8:

Not going to do it, let's do it.

Speaker 3:

Nah, we can't be the cliffhanger like that.

Speaker 8:

Then we'll all come back tomorrow. Make sure we're back tomorrow. Let's just make this come back tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

Brother Jonathan, just get done with her peace offering. Brother, that's 27.

Speaker 3:

I'm on notifications now.

Speaker 4:

It's so all night. It's so all night.

Speaker 8:

We're hasted, brother Jonathan, we don't get tired of the word.

Speaker 9:

Leave him wanting more than he'll come back tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

Okay either he wants to stop or he has tacos waiting for him. One of the two.

Speaker 1:

I already ate. This is just like you know. It's too much. Brother Jonathan, don't act like you're excited. It's never too much.

Speaker 2:

Hey, this is the first night I've seen Brother Jonathan rocking back and forth in his seat, so I know you're excited he wants to leave us wanting for more.

Speaker 1:

You know what you guys.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, leave them wanting more, They'll come back tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

It's the hunger for the Lord I don't know if you guys Are ready for this. You guys can't handle Too much tonight. Too much.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we can, we're believers.

Speaker 8:

I'm going to call Lisa and me and her Will continue on.

Speaker 1:

I love that we do it all Lisa.

Speaker 8:

There's another woman here. Lisa's in my study group.

Speaker 1:

Lisa's in.

Speaker 8:

Mariah. There's three of my girls from my study group in here tonight.

Speaker 2:

You know what? I just want to say something really secular for two seconds. Every time you've called on Mariah's name, all I want to say is me and Mariah go back.

Speaker 1:

I keep thinking about Mount Mariah when I see your name.

Speaker 3:

Never felt he's like I heard that a thousand times.

Speaker 1:

Before Come up with something original. I know right.

Speaker 3:

All right?

Speaker 1:

so here's the thing I'm going to give everybody the last word.

Speaker 2:

Okay, everybody read a verse and we'll get through this. That's the last word.

Speaker 1:

And we're going to pick up at verse 20 tomorrow. Okay, all right. Last word Mariah, go ahead, because I know you got the babies with you.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Mariah, read verse 20. That can be your last word.

Speaker 3:

And so it was that this was great. I'm really intrigued to see and understand your point of view on David and Abigail, because I see that they're both a typology of Christ. As every time, I'm going to marinate on it.

Speaker 1:

Good, good. That's all I ask. Is that people marinate on it for sure? That's all I ask is for people to get engaged with this kind of stuff and find Christ in every page of scripture.

Speaker 2:

Brian just told on you, brother Jonathan, so now you have to go to 27.

Speaker 8:

Oh, I got something to say about 19. Because when she said to a young man, go ahead of me, that reminds me of John the Baptist, because it's the Christ-like thing and I will come along after. And Brian is right.

Speaker 1:

So we got a me and Brian are going to do, we're going to sort of co-host tomorrow talking about the church. So I will pick this up again on Saturday, if anybody is listening. But I'll pick it up. But I'm definitely going to finish it because one reason why I wanted to hold here Cause I was teasing you guys for real, but for good reasons, because there's something else I want to point out here. Uh, tomorrow or the next time we, we that we're together, hopefully on Saturday, but um, that I think is going to be interesting for a lot of people.

Speaker 2:

So what time? On Saturday, Brother Jonathan.

Speaker 1:

Jedi's asking. It'll be the same. It'll be 8 o'clock.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Speaker 1:

It'll be 8 o'clock. Yeah, because me and Brian do have something scheduled already, so I'm glad he reminded me of that. So Mariah already spoke. So, Brian, yours is your last word for tonight, brother.

Speaker 7:

All I want to say for one, this has just been good, this has been fantastic. But I get so much encouragement from everybody that's up on this panel. Y'all do not know how much y'all bless me, that I know y'all are in the scriptures, y'all are studying, y'all are eager to learn it. Just I know it does the same thing to both, jonathan. It just makes your heart swell that y'all have a hunger, not for anything. You know us as people, but you're hungering after God and his word and to know more about him. That is just such a blessing. I love you all so much.

Speaker 2:

We love you too, brother Brian, we do.

Speaker 1:

Of course, Candy Girl. Last word.

Speaker 3:

Candy Girl.

Speaker 6:

All I can say is I love how the host has literally provoked and persuaded me. Okay, to go from the New Testament and see how it applies to the Old Testament in the ways that it does. Meg, I think you were probably the first person that I actually heard say something of the fact of characters. I'm saying characters, but people from the Old Testament portrayed to the New Testament with the Father, son and the Holy Ghost. So both of y'all, I love y'all. Thank you, Everybody on this panel.

Speaker 1:

I love all y'all.

Speaker 2:

This is a good time.

Speaker 3:

I look forward to this when I get off work.

Speaker 6:

I look forward to this every night and I hate that I'm on the road, but hey, I ain't got nothing better to do with my time out here but this right here. I'd be on here all night if I could Just learning and listening and intervening. But man, I'm blessed and thankful that I found you guys. God is good all the time.

Speaker 3:

Amen sister.

Speaker 1:

Angie last word. Sister, your turn Last word.

Speaker 8:

Thank you, Candy Girl, Appreciate your word, I'm also proud of the ladies that joined here too. I love the panel. I love the panel, I love the study tonight. We were all in one accord in the Holy Spirit. I mean, did you see that we were all getting there? We were all. There's not no idea.

Speaker 1:

We lost you, Angie. You're kind of muffled now.

Speaker 8:

Oh, I'm sorry. I just want to say this is such a blessing. I really enjoyed it. I'm on fire for the word, so I'm down anytime and if you want to keep going, I'll stay on here. Just like Handy said, all night long I'll fall asleep at the window and fall out the window at all. I'm just right there with it. So I just you know, I got to meet some awesome people on here, and some of the women from my Bible study group is on here, so I just think it's just amazing. You did a great job, such a blessing brother. So thank you so much. God bless you all.

Speaker 1:

God bless you too, Angie.

Speaker 9:

Brother Todd, last word. Okay, when I came to know Christ, I would have a question for God and I'd be like Lord. I'll give you an example. The first time was my parents weren't really the greatest of parents and I'd go to church and the message that day was how to honor your father and mother despite not being honorable. It was always an answer. Today's message is an answer in my personal life. I don't want to really get into it, but it's interesting how, how, when you think of it in the flesh, it kind of like blows up when you look at it in the spirit. You know, I never really read this and looked at it from this perspective and I thank you for bringing that to my life and I'm thankful for that. And I thank all of you on the panel for your contributions, accepting me. Sometimes I kind of cut in at the wrong times, but it's all because I get excited and I'm excited to be here and I appreciate you all.

Speaker 2:

We love you, Brother Todd.

Speaker 9:

Thank you, you too.

Speaker 1:

Yep, love you too, my man. I love having you guys here, and so, greg Brother, greg, you there.

Speaker 2:

Ready for Greg? He's going to blow it up. Seinfeld.

Speaker 5:

Okay, so here's what I'm thinking. So, if we're looking at david as a type of christ and david is a type of christ in in this right, this is a point in david's uh life before he ascended to the throne right, he's being chased by saul right now, right, so he really hasn't you know, uh, he hasn't received his kingdom yet. So I think it's analogous to like the first coming of Christ, where he did in fact come in peace, yep, right, yep, he did nothing but good, right, healed the sick, you know, raised the dead, cleansed lepers, did nothing but good, but he was rejected anyway, right. And when he was rejected, you know, and now it's no more, mr Nice Guy, right, the second time he comes in, and you'd mentioned it earlier on, you said yes, sometimes people complain about using fear tactics.

Speaker 5:

Right, and I think it's in Jude, I think it says on some have compassion, making a distinction, others save with fear, pulling them from the fire, not from the father, pulling them from the fire, hating even the garments spotted by the flesh. So, yeah, I'm trying to look at it in the light of Christ's first coming. So in that light, and we don't have to go into it now, we can save it for next time In that light. So it's during Christ's first coming. Who is Nabal? Who is Abigail? Right, right.

Speaker 1:

And I think that you're right. But here's the thing I think that we're going to see, you know, like you see, like even Abigail we're going to see is here. That can be used, like you said, greg, to sort of make us understand how God deals with us, because most of us, because, first of all, the first person we should see ourselves as is Nabal. That's how we should start seeing ourselves, right, so as sinners, as fools, as people who stand outside Christ, and because here we get this picture of what a fool looks like to God, you know. And so I just got a light bulb, go ahead, but let me, greg, do you finish? I'm sorry, I cut you off, I'm done. Yeah, all right, meg, last word, your turn.

Speaker 2:

All right. This just came to me when you said that. So Abigail was with Nabal and Nabal was senseless and foolish, and so you could. She was then a typology of Christ, because we see later that she gets with David. Typology of christ, because we see later that she gets with david. So she comes from. It's almost like she, it's like she's coming from the flesh going into the spirit, because nabal was her husband. That was of the flesh and she clinged with christ and it and it and it makes me also think of a man shall leave his mother and father and cling to his wife and the two shall become one. But we really see how later on that happens. But I want to tell you all one more thing.

Speaker 2:

I believe there's three parts to scripture. There's the written word, there's the spoken word and there's the living word. And in order for you to speak the word, you have to read the word. And in order for you to live the word, you have to speak the word. So I encourage people to you know, when you read, to get into your Bible and read, read it out loud, because it's the spoken word once it comes from our mouths, and get that into you. The Bible says that he will take and write the scriptures on our hearts. You know what I mean, and so many times you will see that the Lord will start blessing you to remember scripture and hold it in your heart. Because think about this, and I'm gonna leave y'all with this thought If there were not one Bible in the world tomorrow, how would you be able to bring someone to Christ?

Speaker 2:

It would have to be you getting that word inside of you, and so I just want to encourage y'all to continue to study the scriptures, to so yourself approved unto God, not man. Remember that that's a big one and, brother Jonathan, we love you and I thank you for the preparation that it takes. I know it takes time. You then edify your, re-edify yourself and then come to help edify us all, and so I'm really grateful for you, brother, and I love you like my own for you, brother, and I love you like my own. Oh, I love that. And you can take and the phrase is sitting on G, waiting on O, so you can take that if you like, brother. That's a good one.

Speaker 1:

I'm stealing that one, and it's good. I'll steal something in a second, me too. But I want to say something that, before I get to Lisa because she's the last one to give her word but a brother, a brother of mine who you guys have seen, star Tide, he says something that was really beautiful. He says that God slays your Nabal and marries you to Christ. That right there, let me tell you something that right there is this whole story in a nutshell. That's the whole. That's a summary in one sentence, come on, star Tide, of this whole story God slays your Nabal and marries you.

Speaker 8:

Amen yes.

Speaker 1:

So the picture that he's painting here is that Abigail is the church.

Speaker 8:

She's the bride, the bride, she's the bride. That's what I saw her as as the bride, because he came down to get her.

Speaker 1:

But see, the thing is brethren, look here.

Speaker 1:

The thing here for all of us to understand is that there are so many things and so many ways we can glean God's truth out of the different perspectives that we have on any part of his scripture. And when you hear something like this, like to me, I'm a simplicity freak. So this right here says it God slays your Nabal and marries you to Christ. And you know what that is the gospel Amen Christ. And you know what that is the gospel Amen, Amen. That statement is the gospel.

Speaker 5:

Hallelujah.

Speaker 8:

Yes.

Speaker 5:

I don't know, my nabal keeps getting up and haunting me too often.

Speaker 8:

Prayer request. Praying for you, brother. Praying for you.

Speaker 1:

Exactly Lisa, last words, sister.

Speaker 4:

Well, I don't have anything profound, as usual, but I but I just want to express my appreciation for you, jonathan. This was good. This was good. It's what I needed. It's what I needed today. Honestly, I've been a little bit disheartened.

Speaker 4:

Um, just, you know, just you know, nothing, nothing in particular, but um, this kind of brought, brought the fire, you know, um, it reminded me how I need to look and just look for Jesus. You know, Angie was speaking of our Bible study. We were doing reading in Leviticus one time and I saw the gospel so clear in Leviticus I can't even remember what verses it was and it's, it's like it is right here, it's, it's so beautiful and you got to be shown those things. I mean, I've I've been through the Old Testament three, three or four times now and it just was that time that I saw it. And it's glorious, it's like it's amazing. So thank you for this. This was beautiful, beautiful tonight, thank you.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know I'm looking forward to doing it again, and so I want everybody to think about. So remember the part where I talked about her hasting, right, her hurrying, and we see that in four verses in this chapter that Abigail hastened or she hurried or she rushed. So for the next one, think about that. But also, if you take the time to read this chapter again, I want to give you a little hint into what I'm going to show you in the next section about how the return, about the return of Christ, what he, what he, how he comes back, what takes place, and I'm going to explain how the pre-tribulation rapture thing is wrong and what it actually is.

Speaker 1:

But you see it in this chapter and so look for it in advance and we'll talk about it on Saturday or Monday or whatever. But either way, if you can't make it, then I will definitely have it posted the next day. But hopefully you guys can make it, because I want to have a quality group like this so that things don't go off the rails like they can do depending on who comes up. But anyway, god willing, I'm going to be ready to do part two of this on Saturday night if you guys are available and in fact, every night I will try to be on between 8 and 8.15, generally speaking. So look for that Wednesday. Tomorrow, brian and I are going to talk about the church, today's church, going to church, should we go to church, the building, what it means, all that stuff. So we're going to get into that tomorrow, so that should be fun as well.

Speaker 2:

Hey Brother Jonathan, I just want to give you something real quick. My dad follows me around in lives and says hi to me every now and then. So I want you all to say hi to my dad. He's a new believer. My dad's 74 years old. He was a Jewish man, just got saved eight or nine months ago. He's a child of the Lord and, uh, I love him and I've been praying for him my whole life. I remember when days he used to come up to me and say, megan, if, when I was a teenager, he would say Megan, if you talk, talk that Jesus stuff to me one more time, I don't know what I'm going to do with you. And guess what? The Lord got him. And so he's right there. Yeah, he's, I think he's still in here. Yeah, what's his name?

Speaker 1:

His name's Greg. Give him the phone.

Speaker 2:

No, he's in the chat.

Speaker 1:

Oh, he is.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he sneaks in here and says hi to me All right Greg wins. Yeah, that's my dad.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, dad, how you doing there my man. I'm going to follow him right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he just got. He had some melanoma that he just got surgery on today. Glory to God, it's all gone and he's just. I love him so much and I honor my dad. He's such a good man and I thank God for him. So I just wanted to say hi to him and welcome him and if he has any questions I know Dad, you can follow anybody in here. They're great and they're men and women of God and, yeah, I'm a fan and he's a fan of me.

Speaker 1:

Brother Greg, I appreciate getting to get to meet you this way and I got to tell you your daughter is an absolute blessing, absolute blessing, absolutely.

Speaker 7:

What's that? What she is? She is a force and we love her.

Speaker 1:

She's a blessing. And I tell you it's like there's certain people that you, just you, you're always when you turn on the, when I turn on my live, or whatever, the certain people I'm always looking for. Greg, brian, lisa, you know, you know, and that list grows every day. But but now I'm blessed to have all of you people here, and and Mr, mr Greg, I hope that one day you get to come up here or get on with Meg and talk with us and chop it up, because you know it's a challenge to be a Christian and it's hard.

Speaker 1:

Christians people a lot of times people make Christianity out to be something easy, that God is going to be like some kind of Santa Claus. But I tell people all the time that Christianity is the most difficult vocation any person can ever have, but it's also the biggest blessing that any person could ever have. And so, and my brother, greg, here, he says he's just a beginner and he's learning. Well, I tell you right now your daughter, sometimes you never know where it comes from, but she knows what she's talking about and all I can say is stay in the word of God diligently, stay in prayer diligently, be a part of a good congregation where the word of God is preached truthfully, and continue to grow, and hopefully you can join us on these lives and whatnot. But anyway, welcome, sir, and welcome not only to this, but welcome to the family of God. And now you're stuck with me as your brother, so I'm going to talk your ear off, hopefully.

Speaker 3:

Amen.

Speaker 1:

Amen. So God bless all of you and all these things. Be provoked and be persuaded until tomorrow. God bless you guys and Candy. Girl peace out there.

Speaker 8:

God bless you guys.
