Saving Cities

Ruby Lopez Harper, Americans for the Arts

Season 1 Episode 8

Welcome to the Saving Cities podcast. In each episode, a member of our team hosts a conversation with an expert in a place-related field, from Accessibility to Zoning, and everything in between.

Join Diane Larusso as she talks to her friend Ruby Lopez Harper, who sets her own headline as Mexican, Mother, Wife, Dancer, Photographer, Poet, and Social Justice Warrior. She serves as the Senior Director of Local Arts Advancement for Americans for the Arts—a national organization whose mission is to build recognition and support for the extraordinary and dynamic value of the arts and to lead, serve and advance the diverse networks of organizations and individuals who cultivate the arts in America.

Ruby works with local leaders all over the country that represent a cross-section of business, non-profit, and arts sectors that are pursuing creative placemaking and offering arts enrichment for the benefit of their neighborhoods. Listen on to hear us weave through the “whys” of art and then on to best practices, trends, and resources—including those in pursuit of cultural equity in and through art. If you’re interested in leveraging the power of art to transform your community, this conversation is for you.
