The Boston Celtics won the 2024 NBA Finals earlier this week on Monday. What's up, Cross Sports Nation? I'm Robert Wells. The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks four games to one to win the 2024 NBA Finals 106-88. The Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA championship in franchise history. That's the most ever, ever in NBA history. They passed the Lakers with 17, now they got 18. And congratulations to Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzella on becoming the second youngest head coach to win a championship since Bill Russell. And that was a long time ago. And this guy is 35 years old. That's awesome. And honestly, the Eastern and Western Conference Finals were more interesting than the NBA Finals. And that's just my opinion. But the Boston Celtics, uh, it's the first NBA championship since 2008 for them with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. That was 16 years ago. And this year's Boston Celtics team won it all on the same day, June 17th, as the Boston Celtics did in 2008. History repeating itself for the Boston Celtics, and they were destined, destined to win. He won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP last month against the Indiana Pacers. Congratulations to Jalen Brown on winning both awards. Well deserved. And I'm happy for Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Al Horford, and the rest of the Boston Celtics. Yeah, they did their thing. By the way, Jason Tatum played at Duke 2. He did. Two more players from Duke won an NBA championship. They won. And congratulations to them. Besides Jason Tatum. So that's awesome. You know I'm a Duke fan. Let's go, Duke. Also, Boston Celtics Center Al Horford is the first player from the Dominican Republic to win an NBA championship. Yeah, I it probably won't be his last either. I think he's gonna win another one, maybe next year. We'll see. They they could repeat. And Drew Holliday is the first and the only player in NBA history to win NBA championships with two, two different teams in the first season for each team. Wow, he was the X Factor for the Boston Celtics. He was a lot of X Factors on the Celtics in the NBA playoffs. So congratulations to him. I originally picked a team in a Western conference uh in the Western Conference to win the NBA championship this year. I was wrong. I was so wrong. And I admit it, you know, some people won, but I'll admit it. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. If I'm right, I'm right. After game three, I thought the Boston Celtics would sweep the Dallas Mavericks in game four. I was wrong about that too. So it is what it is. The the Mavericks won game four by 38 points, 122 to 84. Remember, I didn't pick a winner in this series. I didn't because I thought they were evenly matched. I really did. It could have gone either way, either way. It could have been the Mavericks or it could have been the Celtics, but it was the Celtics. But after game one, I thought the Celtics would take the NBA Finals, and they did. They did. Someone that I know personally who hasn't really watched the NBA Finals since Michael Jordan played played it in with the Chicago Bulls in 1998 in NBA Finals, and the Bulls won the NBA championship that year. That person picked the Boston Celtics to win the 2024 NBA Finals. That person saw my last uh episode that I did a few weeks ago and made their prediction. Wow. Wow. You caught it to that person, you caught it, and you did an awesome job too. Because I was going back and forth, but you caught it. But hey, but you have to give credit to the Dallas Mavericks. They fought hard. Yes, they did. They could be in the NBA Finals next year because they're a young team. They are. The average age on the Dallas Mavericks is 26.7 years old, according to the NBA roster survey from November of 2023, including their core players like Luka Doncic, who's 25, Josh Green, 23, AJ Lawson, 23, and Daniel Gafford, 25. Like I said in the last episode, Daniel Gafford is a former Chicago Bulls player, and he's doing better in Dallas. I'm really happy for him. I just wish he was with the Bulls. And another former Chicago Bulls player, Derek Jones Jr., is 27 years old. I mentioned Derek Jones Jr. in the last time that I did the episode, and he's doing well too. A good job. And another former Chicago Bulls player that's doing better somewhere else is Boston Celtics backup center Luke Cornet. Yeah, he's now an NBA world champion with the Boston Celtics. Come on, Chicago Bulls. Come on. Get it together. Start winning again, please. Start winning again. God. The Minnesota Timberwolves or last year's NBA World Champions, the Denver Nuggets. Hmm. They could be in the NBA Finals. One of them could be in the NBA Finals next year in 2025. The NBA is stacked with talented teams. They are. It should be interesting next year. It really should. And I'm looking forward to that. But congratulations again to the Boston Celtics on winning the 2024 NBA Finals and bringing another NBA World Championship back to the City of Boston.
