Leaders in LiDAR

Episode Six | HanBin Lee, CEO of Seoul Robotics

Umbilical Technology Season 1 Episode 7

In this episode we speak to HanBin Lee, the CEO of Seoul Robotics, a South-Korean based 3D perception company with a speciality in developing LiDAR perception software.

Seoul Robotics were founded in 2017 after HanBin and the other co-founders met whilst studying AI, Computer Vision & Deep Learning together online.

Following their entry into the 2017 Didi-Udacity Self-Driving Car Challenge, where they placed 10th out of 2000 entries, they decided to found Seoul Robotics which is now considered one of Korea's most promising start-ups that has offices across the world including Germany & the US and collaborates with some of the world's leading OEM & Tier 1 suppliers as well as other organisations outside of the automotive domain.

Their 3D perception technology, SENSR, which is compatible with almost all LiDAR sensors uses machine learning to make sense of raw data provided by sensors to support a range of functions from basic tracking and monitoring to autonomous mobility.

Listen today to hear us discuss the following;

  • Their success at the 2017 Didi-Udacity Self-Driving Car Challenge and the founding of Seoul Robotics.
  • The need for a company to bridge the gap between LiDAR manufacturers and users so that there can be insights and actionable outcomes from the 3D data generated.
  • How they've been able to collaborate with some of the world's leading OEM's as well as some of the world's leading LiDAR manufacturers in order to demonstrate how LiDAR solutions can advance safety and efficiency.
  • What the future holds for Seoul Robotics and the LiDAR domain in general.
