Congrats to Bo who is celebrating 11 years of marriage and his Hulk-like golf skills! Our latest podcast episode tees off with laughter and personal milestones before driving into the heart of NFL discussions. From the promising rookies carrying their fathers' legacies, like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Frank Gore Jr., to the strategic plays of the 49ers, we tackle the burning questions of inheritance and strategy on the gridiron. But the conversation doesn't end there; we dissect the potential moves involving Samuel and Aiyuk, offering our take on the teams that might be eyeing these valuable players.
Transitioning from the football field to the diamond and hardwood, our banter takes a swing at the MLB, with the Chicago Cubs' surprising upswing and the White Sox's staggering decline. The NBA playoffs aren't safe from our analysis either, as we break down the Knicks' unexpected success and ponder their potential in the face of powerhouse teams. And for those who relish in-depth strategies and rookie evaluations, we slice through Shane Waldron's offensive playbook and consider the wide receiver opportunities in Chicago, all while sizing up the direction the New York Jets are heading.

Thank you, welcome back to the All Purpose Pod for an all-purpose life. Wherever you are and however you're listening today, call me Mr U, the podcast. Thanks again for making us a part of your morning, your day and your week. We're your weekly mirror check before you change the world. We are in the house this morning, another glorious Monday morning, with my guys. Urban Raj he's still with us. How are you guys doing this morning, man?
Speaker 2We're great. I think Bo is alert To us is what he's trying to tell us.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's right. That's right. Right, I missed it. Yeah, you're kind of breaking up there. It basically said that I'm allergic to you guys allergic.
Speaker 1Wow, what's that mean? Did we fall out of your favor?
Speaker 3no, it's because I sneezed. Oh okay, man alright.
Speaker 1Well, mom is already representing this morning. Good morning mom. Fall out of your favor? No, it's because I sneezed. Oh, okay, man, all right. Well, mom is already representing this morning. Good morning mom. We love you so much and thank you for joining us and supporting our show and dropping those dimes out there in the comments section. We appreciate you so much. Thank you for continuing to do what you do.
Speaker 3All right, shout out to my wife, because it's my anniversary today.
Speaker 2Oh nice, all right, shout out to my wife because it's my anniversary today.
Speaker 1Whoa, nice 11 years right. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 3Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 1Yep, yep.
Speaker 3Yep, yep, we did stuff on Friday.
Speaker 1We copied that. You got pictures of all the festivities that we can see.
Speaker 3Nah, Nah, nah nah, we pretended, like other people, didn't exist. It was nice Okay.
Speaker 1Wow, so unusual.
Speaker 2We will make up our own stories, then they would definitely involve waterfalls oh no, I got it. The usual, of course.
Speaker 3We went and hit a bucket of balls and hung out with some friends Pretty low-key.
Speaker 1I know Rod's going to ask this because that's where he goes with this stuff. Were there any waterfalls involved in this at all?
Speaker 3Zero waterfalls, although one thing that was funny is because we were hitting balls there. That was funny is because we were hitting balls there. I broke one of their drivers you can borrow. I snapped the fiberglass in my hands. I guess I was holding on a little tight because I was trying to murder the ball.
Speaker 1What are you trying to prove, man?
Speaker 3I wanted it to go. Far Must go far.
Speaker 2I walked, man, I wanted it to go far. Yeah, must go far, Must go far.
Speaker 3So I walked back in and I broke it in between my hands. So when I walked in it was like kinked to the side. I was like I don't think this is going to work. They're like how the hell did you do that?
Speaker 1Wow, superhuman strength.
Speaker 2They said I'm not even mad, I'm just kind of impressed.
Speaker 3Wow, I started laughing. I was like I don't even know what I did, cause I was getting ready to swing and I just felt it pop. I'm like oh.
Speaker 1I don't even know what to say after that. I can't follow that up, man. We're doing a podcast with the Hulk?
Speaker 3I mean I don't know what to say.
Speaker 1It was hilarious, though. It was hilarious. What's up west coast, how you doing? Thanks for joining us again, and she's giving some happy anniversary love as well. That's so thoughtful of you. Thank you, win. Appreciate you so much, all right well, I wish.
Speaker 3I wish, because it's raining all weekend here and hasn't been super warm, but, that being said, we just had sink in a mile, so we would have done it down in mexico. Uh, that's where we got married anyway.
Speaker 1Well, you recently came back from Hawaii, so I feel like we already did that story. Okay, we didn't just go to Hawaii.
Speaker 3It's time to go to Mexico.
Speaker 1Let's get up. Let's let let Herb and I recuperate from the last time you did Hawaii. Okay, let's just. Yeah, exactly, we're not over that part yet. Okay, we weren't invited to that party, so we kind of, you know, we're still dealing with Alabama and South Carolina, so we need to go ahead and just, you know, give us some time to keep going. Right, be kind. Hey, there's room. Was there room? I don't know that there was. What's up, rog?
Speaker 3Morning.
Speaker 1Of course, the obligatory roadside drop thing. I don't say go blue that much, man. All right, it's all good Roadside. Good to have you, rog. Thank you, brother, we love you man.
Speaker 1You know that we got a lot to talk about, so let's go ahead and try to jump into some of this stuff. Man, I had a question out, I think it before vacation, because I wanted to let it marinate a little bit. But all the NFL rookies that came out that had fathers, that was in the league. It kind of prompted a pretty cool question who had the best chance to surpass their father? The option that we had were, of course, marvin Harrison Jr, frank Gore Jr, luke McCaffrey, son of Ed McCaffrey, brendan Rice, son of the goat, Jerry Rice, joe Ault of course he's by the same name as his son, joe Ault Jr. I guess you could say Chris Jenkins Jr and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Speaker 1So a whole bunch of juniors out here, and I see the liberty of doing all of the math. I'm sure you guys did your own as well. How did we find out how the son surpasses the father? By what the father is best known for. I guess we know what Frank Gore is most known for 16,000 yards, 241 games played, which is a record. So we know what he's known for. You know what Jerry Rice is known for he's the GOAT. He's probably top three in everything.
Speaker 3Yeah, I feel like you can throw that one out the window, his kid.
Speaker 1I didn't.
Speaker 2I'm researching everybody else. I didn't research, I just wrote his name down and went. Yeah, sorry, kid.
Speaker 1I just kind of feel like it's not going to happen. If you ask Brendan Rice, he'll tell you that he's bigger and faster than his father, but I just feel like that goal is so high to reach that he can't get there. I could be wrong.
Speaker 2He also went in the seventh round, though right. Not everyone agrees with him.
Speaker 1I have an extension your stronger doesn't make you a better receiver.
Speaker 1I don't think he's going to do it, so I have an extension to his name. Honestly, I got an extension of Marvin Harrison Jr's name as well. I'm not going to go over well with some folks that love Ohio State, but I don't see him surpassing what his father did. There's just something he did that I don't think he's going to be able to surpass. I think his quarterback helped out a lot in that regard. I don't think Marvin Harrison has the same liberties that his father had with Peyton, so you guys can go ahead and chime in on that one, but I have an X in his name as well.
Speaker 2I won't see a chance. I think that the only thing in his favor is it is a more pass-happy league right now, so I think he'll get more opportunities than what his father probably did. But no, I actually went with Joe Alt in this one. Oh yeah, well, and his dad, john Alt. His actual stats come out to two Pro Bowls, I mean two All Pros, and what is it? I'm sorry. Two Pro Bowls, one second team All Pro and the Kansas City Hall of Fame. So you're thinking, if he's drafted with the number five, pick him surpassing that he should be able to surpass that.
Speaker 3No, I came out to the same spot you all as well, yeah.
Speaker 2Okay, and that's not a knock on John Ault. I'm just saying if you're taken with the five spot, you know if I get three Pro Bowls out of you and, like you know, hall of Fame career, that's already surpassing what John Ault did.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, and your other options are guys like Jerry Rice and Mark Anderson.
Speaker 2So like this is.
Speaker 3I don't know that that was a fair comparison.
Speaker 1Well, those were. I mean, I excluded those two guys. I also excluded Luke McCaffrey, three-time Super Bowl champ. I just don't see it, not right now. Anyway, we are in the game of predicting right now, that's what we're doing. So I asked who came out. It came out of Gore, alt, jenkins and Trotter.
Speaker 2For me, yeah, and that's the one I did Alt and then Jenkins and then maybe Trotter is kind of how I looked at it as far as my list went.
Speaker 1I feel like, even though Gore's name is not talked about, what he did was pretty awesome.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah. But there's a couple of things that go. First off, gore, you know his stuff was awesome. Then his son was an undrafted free agent and it's a league where we don't really value running backs anymore. I just don't know that he'd be around enough to do it even if he was a first rounder. But then going undrafted, I think the deck is definitely stacked against them.
Speaker 1Yeah, same here. Um, I think it kind of boiled down to, I think I think all where I probably would land to I mean whole thing at 13 years. I mean the pro balls and stuff. I mean I'm not sure that I don't got to get in a pro ball. You probably say I didn't, so I guess it's not really hard to accomplish that in today's times with how voting is done and everything.
Speaker 1I think Trotter has a nice chance of it being where he is in the kind of defense that he plays in. His dad was a four-time Pro Bowler 908 tackles, 12 and a half average sack guy, so high sack guy. I mean he can potentially do that and maybe Jenkins can do the same thing. I think he's a little bit different because his dad was like a tackling machine. I guess that's what he was most known for. So that's not really a super high bar, excluding the four-time Pro Bowls and stuff. I think Alt is the right call by you guys. Most definitely Don't have anything from you, roger, on that one. We'll keep the training moving here, all right. So you also talked about the best landing spots for a couple of guys out of San Fran. We know they have some issues out there.
NFL Team Strategies and Player Trades
Speaker 1Going into the draft, we're trying to make some trades for both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, one of the I think they've been filling offers on both of them. When Ricky Pearsall was drafted the former Florida Whiteout when he was drafted in with the number 31 pick, then the idea there was we hear from guys like Dan Graziano from ESPN they were saying that the idea is to move Samuel, not IU, because I guess they felt like Pearsall was similar in some way to Debo. We know the impact that he has on the game when he's not playing. We saw what happened. So he does make the offense really go. I don't know if Pierce Hall can do that, but they saw enough similarities that they said you know what, drafting him would be a good idea, especially if we're not going to keep Debo.
Speaker 1There's a lot of information out here, a lot of news, a lot of talk about the Steelers, the Pats, the Bills, a lot. In your opinion, is there any team that jumps out at you and says you know what? Well, first off, do you think that IU should stay and Sam should go? First question. Second question where would they land if either one or both of them were traded somewhere. What do you think the Niners should be focusing on?
Speaker 3I mean, if the Niners are trying to win this year, which is going to be their best year to do it because they're going to start paying people, they better hope they can hang on to them both. Obviously, you know if they do that they lose one of them next year and they don't get anything for them. So I get why you'd entertain letting someone go, but this is a win now team, so you probably want to hang on to all the pieces that can help you win now. So, as much as it would make sense to trade them and maybe get some draft picks, this may be the last year of this window to really get it done, so probably want to push all your chips to the middle and and double down on some bets here.
Speaker 1I think that's accurate. We talked about teams whose championship windows are closing. We didn't specify them as much because there was another team in the AFC that we thought was just the number one in that, in that, in that category. But really I feel like what you're saying is really accurate. Man, this team right here, this is it to me. I'm going to keep doing what they're doing right now. This is it right here For me, what you said was accurate.
Speaker 3That's why we didn't say it was closing, because theirs is wide open. In the future it's closing. This year, it is wide open. This is their last best shot. The other guys, their windows are already closing. This one is wide open. Just next year is going to be, you know, unfortunate for them because they got a lot of people to start paying Now. As a Hawks fan, I'm not sad about it.
Speaker 1That's probably that's why we do this man. We got all these different minds and personalities. We don't always agree on everything. I don't really agree with that, that's for sure. I feel like that door is not wide open. It's not the way I would use it. It's not closed, but it's not wide open either.
Speaker 3You don't think it's wide open for the Niners?
Speaker 1At the last year. I felt like that was a grand opportunity Because they had that opportunity, even though they didn't play what I think was their best. They had injury issues, that kind of stuff. That was a prime opportunity right there.
Speaker 1I don't know if this is going to be exactly the same as that Pistole makes it better, I guess. But there's a lot of things that you know. There's been some movement that we haven't even talked about as far as player personnel and stuff. I don't know if this is going to be an easy shot for them to go ahead and do the same thing again and just dominate everybody most folks that they played already. So I'm not saying they can't compete and they're not going to be in the talk in the playoffs. Of course they will. They got too much talent for that.
Speaker 1But I'm like if I was them, I wouldn't waste it. That's what I'm saying. So moving those two guys, I wouldn't do that. If there's money available for them to both stay, it might be tight. If you can do that, keep them both, because I don't care how many UDFAs you get these guys right here, they make your team go and you need them and Brock Purdy most definitely would not want to have just Pearsall and whoever fought I think his name is Jennings, whatever I think it is but he would not want to have Debo and IU to throw to.
Speaker 2So I'm sure Juwan Jennings yeah.
Speaker 1Keep those guys. What I would think they would do is the money. If they can make the money work, that's the part I'm not really sure about do if the money, if they can make the money work, that's the part I'm not really sure about.
Speaker 2Can you do that right now? Going into it'll work for one more year but then yeah somebody's gone after this year. So that's why he's saying that the because they can keep the whole team together for one more year. The door is open for one more year after this year. Yeah, it's, it's, it's shut, you're gonna play pretty and then he's gonna be thrown there and he's going to go. What the heck am I signing on for?
Speaker 3Oh yeah, I mean it goes from a mansion to a condemned sticker on the door. Next year they have to try and figure out how to pay everybody. That's why I say the window is wide open right now for this season alone.
Speaker 1It's not going to be kept in San Fran. Where do you like them to go? It it's not going to be kept in San Fran.
Speaker 2Where do you like them to go? It seems like the Bills comps are accurate to at least get one of them to add into that core, so I could see that one for sure. Pittsburgh I could see needing a wide receiver, but I don't know if it makes sense. Who wants to go from a Super Bowl loser to Pittsburgh?
Speaker 3But that's a whole other conversation. I see why they try to get him. Like if you're a receiver and someone's trying to bring you in, are you signing a deal that is going to lose their quarterbacks next year because you have wilson that's on a one-year deal and then you have fields that is on a one-year deal, essentially because they didn't pick up his fifth year option. So, like, are you signing somewhere that doesn't have a path forward at quarterback?
Speaker 2and then it's not about to win the whole thing the one year that you have those guys too.
Team Decisions and Preseason Opinions
Speaker 1I guess to add to that point yeah, now if you come out here and balls out, it feels balls out that you know they might feel more comfortable. But right now they talk about trying to do it now, like before the season. So I'm like, well, they're talking about fields returning kicks.
Speaker 2Uh like a little bit too, so I really don't know what they're doing, just yet.
Speaker 3The Steelers are just doing some like reality TV type stuff going on. Now, if you get traded there and you're not signing a deal say you have a year left on your contract, like in IUK or whatever then you make the best of the situation right Like you jump on an airplane, you go ball out and you keep it moving, because next year that team's going to be interesting to watch.
Speaker 1Yes, I got two names that I heard I want to get your guys' opinion on. Tell me how it hits you and then we'll do the ramifications of it. One name was we're talking about the Bills already and the Seals. We can let those guys go for now. But the Patriots was a name that was of express interest in Samuel and they got a lot of money available. They got the quarterback that they want. They got a lot of money available. And the other name, on the IU side of things, was the Washington Commanders. I think they have room for him there to play with Jaden Daniels. How do you like both of those teams if those both scenarios?
Speaker 2happen. I mean no, go ahead, go ahead, you're probably.
Speaker 3I was just gonna say like they fit there, they're not gonna win a lot, right like they're both rebuilding teams. Neither one of those teams is going to be good, regardless of the talent you have at receiver yeah, I was thinking for both of those teams.
Speaker 2If I was going to go after one, I would take iuk, just because of less miles and the injury history for debo. So if I'm going to rebuild, I'll take the younger guy just so maybe he can grow into it, not not skill set based but just based on age alone. Like if I'm going to trade for iuk and then want to resign him for a couple of years, I think he would probably fit your window better than Debo would.
Speaker 3Well, he doesn't have the injury history that Debo has either.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's what I mean. So that's both of those would lend me to do Iuke if he was going to go to a rebuilding team.
Speaker 1That's fine.
Speaker 2For me, if I'm signing Debo, I'm more like I can win in the next year or two.
Speaker 1you know Well in the next year or two, you know Well, I don't think the pitchers can say that much no, or Washington.
Speaker 2So that's why I don't think trading for Debo makes sense for either one of them.
Speaker 1If you listen to these Commanders fans, they feel like this is their shot, this is their moment, if this is their moment.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1They were also really bummed that they lost Sam Howell, so I mean like I'm trying to figure out what happened that made them think that this is going to be. I mean, besides Sam, they got Austin Eckler. Everybody knows I love him, but is that enough? Take them to the next level, Even with IU.
Speaker 3Is the next level, making the playoffs yeah, I was going to say next level, meaning that don't finish last in the league. Sure.
Speaker 1And I guess being competitive, see, I don't finish last in the league, sure Right, yeah that. And I guess being competitive, see, I don't know if.
Speaker 3I'd go that far. You're getting a wild card one.
Speaker 2They had the number two pick right. So if next year they're picking it like number 10, that's a win, right?
Speaker 3That's next level, right, that's what I'm saying Playoffs, don't talk about the playoffs.
Speaker 1No, I don't really care for them. You know that. It's interesting that we see them talking about that because these guys that have all their trade capital, they had to pay a heavy price to get there. A lot of losing to get to this place, a lot of cuts. They have a lot of losing to do. It's beneficial for them and everything, but it doesn't always, like you said, one of you guys said, doesn't equate to them taking a big leap, even having either one of these guys. So we'll see.
Speaker 1Maybe there's a team out here we haven't talked about that's going to be able to grab them up, because I don't think San Francisco to keep up, it doesn't feel that way. Anyway they should. It's a great idea, but it just feels like they're on the hunt. Well, I mean again, don't forget that we still talk about some more cuts, eventually, more roster cuts.
Speaker 3For sure. If you get the right trade value, sure, it's why I've made that comparison for the Seahawks and DK. If you can get the right trade value for them, you move on. What happened?
Speaker 1with that.
Speaker 3What's that?
Speaker 1They just died out. What happened with that? We talk about that stuff every week.
Speaker 3I was just saying that they should. I was just saying that they should. There is still rumblings. I guess the Steelers kicked the tires on him.
Speaker 2Really.
Speaker 3Yeah, so the Steelers are really looking for a receiver, obviously, Clearly. But yeah, I mean there's been a little bit of kicking the tires on DK. I just was, you know, through last season saying they they should entertain it because trade value is still going to be high and he has so many outside of the normal play things that go wrong that it would make sense to do right, Because you have incredibly talented receivers. Right, you still have Lockett, you have JSN. You have incredibly talented receivers. You still have Lockett, you have JSN, you have Bobo, so they have guys that can fill the role.
Speaker 3And it's not like DK had tons of opportunity to really stretch the field last year because the offensive line was so banged up. So I mean, one of the things he's really good at is one of the parts of the game they didn't really get to do. So now I think it'll be better this year. But, that being said, if there, if there was a guy you were going to miss, that would probably be the guy, because Jason has enough speed. You can still stretch the field.
Speaker 1OK, so let's see what happens here. Yep, all you guys are listening to the show show so far. What are your thoughts? Where do you think Brandon Aiyuk and or Deebo Samuel is best served to go? What team should they be going to? Drop it in the comments for us and we'll keep on moving.
Speaker 3What are you giving up for either one of those guys when there's one year left on their contract? Which team needs a rental for a year that you're not going to resign?
Speaker 2Right and the draft was so wide receiver heavy it was hard for, I think, a lot of these teams to think am I going to give up a lot for this guy or am I just going to sit where I am and draft? Take the Chiefs who probably really needed a wide receiver. They were like I can just kind of sit where I am, make a small little trade up and get a wide receiver that I like versus, you know, trade up a lot.
Speaker 3The problem with them is they went and got Clifford Franklin. So all the speed and no hands that injury issue is what gets to me, man.
Speaker 1I mean I don't play fantasy anymore, but unfortunately well, I don't mean that. Fortunately, I have to have fancy football-loving friends and they still talk about, you know, debo and stuff, and they've been crying about Debo all year. You know why? Because we needed him the most, because he was like the number one receiver that they pulled off of the board and he wasn't available that much. So it's like I think about that kind of stuff. I know that when he's there, highlight plays. When he's not there, it's like, oh okay, so for me, that team you're talking about you got to think about that part. You're going to get from a long contract a lot of guaranteed money and he may be sitting out eight, nine, ten games god forbid a year.
Speaker 3It's not cute, but I mean, if you're, if you're a fantasy guy and you're pulling odell, you haven't watched his career. You saw a highlight reel where he, one-handed, caught a ball.
Speaker 1Because now, a lot of people not odell. You know what I'm just saying. I just no, no, I mean comparatively right, because odell has been.
Speaker 3You know, he's like a four or five hundred yard a year receiver, like he's. He doesn't actually ball out like he's had some flashy plays each year but he doesn't. He doesn't actually do a lot. Debo, on the other hand, is a workhorse. He just gets hurt.
Preseason Games, Season Start, and Depth
Speaker 1Great. So your thoughts on the Roger Goodell Hayden preseason. I'm gonna let you guys just kind of wrap your thoughts on that and if you said enough, you can move on, because I'm like, wow, I don't understand what he sees that we don't see. But go ahead. You guys have some thoughts on Twitter. I heard some of your thoughts, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. So, basically, what he was saying was that he felt as though it wasn't necessary. He'd rather see regular season games in their place instead of so I don't know what he's talking about 22 games. I don't know what he's really implying there, but basically he was saying that the preseason doesn't have much value in his opinion, he wants to make more money.
Speaker 2Is what he's saying off the regular season, although I don't know how you.
Speaker 3I don't know how you'd evaluate talent at that point, because you're not allowed to hit in preseason, you're not really allowed to do any real contact speed drills, so I don't know how you'd evaluate talent. Something we talked about during last season is offensive line and receiver timing.
Speaker 3routes need real speed real time reps and we saw horrible offensive line play the first few weeks of last year because starters don't start in the preseason anyway. So it's essentially the first three weeks of the year are the starters preseason games, and it was terrible. Weeks of the year are the starters preseason games, and it was terrible. Uh, you know, I liked when your starters actually played some in the preseason because then you had a polished product when you got to the regular season I don't get the motivation.
Speaker 1I heard my head on the head with the money part, but I don't get the motivation. Definitely what it is radio. You really want to have a season start. I mean because the value, not the value. The quality of these games gets diluted a great deal when teams can't figure out, okay, who should be where they are. You don't want to figure that out. Game one while we're all watching this on national television, exactly All the NFL fans are converging together like, oh man, football is finally back. We missed you so much. We love you. And you see, they got to watch garbage on day one because the team's not even prepared for this. I don't understand how he can watch all these seasons and say something like that and not recognize the ramifications of it. When else are they going to do stuff, learn practice? They're moving guys around trying different positions when they're going to figure that stuff out during the game.
Speaker 3Game one what's going to have to be, because you're not allowed to hit or do anything in in otas and preseason, so, and of course you wouldn't even have a preseason anymore. So I don't know when you would actually get contact football before you go live. And if you think there's injuries now, man, it'd be brutal if you go from zero to 100 I agree.
Speaker 2I also think depth wise you would want some preseason, just because it's not necessarily for my star guys, like I know that guy's making it, but I don't know who's. My third and fourth wide receiver. Sometimes, like you said, just seeing them in some kind of game action is better to fill that out. We sit there and talk about oh, we don't need it, we'll skip all that. Then all of a sudden my star guy goes down. I'm like I really don't know what I have on the bench, because I've never seen these guys actually do anything.
Speaker 1Star guys do reps too.
Speaker 3That's why I said how do you evaluate? Talent.
Speaker 1You think Aaron Rodgers don't need no reps? Yes, he does. He'd appreciate being out there playing a couple of series coming off an injury. Sure he would. This is ridiculous. Is any less his thing? Is this like he's talking, or is there anything behind what he's saying? It's like a possibility that what he says can come to fruition.
Speaker 3So there is some truth behind what he's saying, because the league is going to ultimately end up as an 18 game season right.
Speaker 2Donors just want more money, so they want more regular season games, no matter how they have to get exactly, and so this will probably be true.
Speaker 3Uh, what roger's saying is it'll be two pre-season games because ultimately this probably becomes an 18 game season and it's like one of the only players negotiating points every time you add games.
Speaker 2All right, give us less preseason.
Speaker 3Yeah, yep, well, because then you're still playing the same amount of games, right In theory. But you know you get those two, so but if you go to an 18 game season they're going to have to expand the rosters.
Speaker 3Oh boy, yeah, oh boy yeah, I mean because there there's no way you can stick with a 53 man roster at and keep adding games. I mean you just get hurt too much contact sport, no matter how much contact they try and take out of it, dudes are going to get hurt they have to kind of limit the amount of cuts, then they do.
Speaker 1They can't do the uh, normal amount because you're going to need backup. Out here you're going to need depth. Yeah, here You're going to need depth.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, that's. The thing is, they'll probably have to add, you know, five or six guys to the roster to help weather. You know the added workload.
Surprising MLB Teams and NBA Playoffs
Speaker 1I guess if there is a silver lining, more guys get a chance to play and accomplish their dream, that's. Aside from that, the injury factor kind of concerns me a good bit. But well, this is gonna be interesting. All right back to the other comment that that raj dropped about not needing obj in miami yeah, I mean they don't uh he's.
Speaker 1He's probably gonna be a position receiver for you guys at best. Yeah, you guys got speed on the outside. You don't really need him to do anything like that anymore. So you're probably going to be a possession guy in the middle. He was kind of doing that in Baltimore anyway, so it wasn't like it was a new thing for him. He'd be accustomed to it and I'm sure he'd love to be a. Well, he's been passing from two. I guess it's cool. I guess I don't know. It's just All right. Any All right. Any thoughts on OBJ and Miami. We keep on moving forward. We got some more topics to jump into.
Speaker 2It's like they wanted to sign a name and that was it.
Speaker 3Yeah, I mean OBJ is a style Nobody on defense can sign.
Speaker 1No names on defense can get to the guy.
Speaker 3He's just a style piece, that's it, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1No defensive issues that it could have addressed, instead Nothing.
Speaker 2Oh, there's tons of them, like all of them. That's why roger texted me and he said we didn't need this. So the second the signing came out. That's the first thing he texted me, so I was like yeah it's like.
Speaker 3It's like you're riding a bicycle and your tire is flat and you're like you know, if I get some streamers on these handlebars, yeah, it'd be rad but you it'd be rad, but you're not driving anywhere because you don't have tires Exactly.
Speaker 1How long have we been talking about Miami's defense? I know a lot. You could probably go on and rant and rave and by all means dominate the comments, just like you always do, brother, dominate, but man, everybody knows the defense continually. No offense to OBJ man, he is what he is, man, come on, all they help you need on defense. That was a problem, you guys, it wasn't. No, we don't have enough speed on this team. No, it was your defense and you didn't really address that. I think last week Rodgers even said in the comment section I think he was or a week before that he really didn't address that to his satisfaction, I guess To anybody's satisfaction. So now you can go get OB, really, all right. Another comment from Rock Surprisingly.
Speaker 2What do you mean surprisingly?
Speaker 1I don't know what that means, but, as usual, I'm going to defer to you guys to work it out offline.
Speaker 3It seems early to be throwing daggers already.
Speaker 2I mean geez. It happens every single Monday morning.
Speaker 1So I mean, yeah, no, Best years are way behind him. He literally drafted Chop as our first pick.
Speaker 3Okay, yeah, no, obj's best years are long gone and even with that it's not like they were very long, right, like he had a couple of good years. He had one incredibly flashy catch and that catch Drives him forward because everybody remembers that and they played on SportsCenter every five minutes.
Speaker 1But yeah, you look at number day. I think it was a scene here Make a number for the Giants, at least that year. So it wasn't just a catch, but I get what you're saying.
Speaker 3Well, yeah, but the thing. That's why I said he had a couple of good years, but then from there it's been Everybody's picked him up Because of that one handed catch, because it definitely hasn't been Because of what has happened On the field. If you look at the stats, never too early to throw a dagger.
Speaker 1Apparently not.
Speaker 3If you look at the stats, if he didn't have that highlight reel, he wouldn't be on a roster.
Speaker 1Okay, I'm not sure about that. I don't know, I don't know. Guys get spots all the time. I'd be like how did that happen?
Speaker 3400-yard yard receivers you can find anywhere. You don't got to pay that guy happens all the time.
Speaker 1All right, we went to the next topic. We're gonna keep moving. Most surprising major league baseball team this season so far. Uh, a lot of storylines, so we're not gonna get into all of that stuff, but I think the one that jumps out at me personally is the chicago cups. I'm shocked. I'm shocked by that one because they got a couple of guys uh, bellinger and swanson and they got a nine game improvement out of it, which is pretty good for two guys. They changed the dynamic. They got a japanese lefty, uh imanaga, that came in and he's been able to replace marcus stroman, who's on the yankees now, thank god. And, uh, they made some powerful moves and they're competing man and they're playing hard man.
Speaker 1Nobody really expected that. I think they had a lot of guys that were in AAA, that were supposed to be the. They were getting ready for a rebuild. That's the whole point of all this. They were ready for a rebuild, or retooling, however you want to describe it. So they had about five or six guys coming up that were like awesome. I mean awesome bats, great pitchers, they're going to bring them up. They kept them all in AAA.
Speaker 1So what that tells you is that you know the guys that they had, that they were thinking about, you know, replacing whatever are overachieving and now they got a wealth of riches. Now you got guys that are right behind them that are fantastic and could use some more season in some areas, but fantastic. Right now it looks like they've been in a world where we're always tweaking something. The Cubs are just sticking with what they know doing the right thing, giving their quality guys some time in AAA to kind of get to that point where when they come up they stay up. I respect that. They're the fourth best team in the National League Dominant record at home they're average. They're kind of average away from home. I think about 500 ball away from home, which is pretty good, and 1% point out of the top spot in the West man. So looking pretty good man. How about you guys who surprised you so far?
Speaker 3Oh, the White Sox, oh wow. Being as bad as they are, they are on pace to be the worst team to ever put on a uniform.
Speaker 1Is that possible? The worst team ever.
Speaker 3Like ever, ever, even including shortened seasons, ever. That's not good. Amazing, that's amazing, amazing.
Speaker 1What do you do with a team like that? Do you fire everybody? What do you do? Do you just kind of just I mean, it can't get worse.
Speaker 3Wow, Are you kidding? Me, I mean if you're already on pace to be the worst team ever, I mean you, you're already on pace to be the worst team ever. I mean you could probably send them all down to AAA and bring a AAA team up and see what happens. They'll be okay, their differential right now is minus 82 for the whole year. Yeah, I mean I didn't look over the weekend, but going into the weekend they were on pace to, I believe, be a 33-win team, which would be the worst ever Wow.
Speaker 1That's amazing. This is a side note before you jump in there, herb, I feel like Chicago has issues with their teams, are you? Seeing a little pattern here. I'm just watching. Yeah, it's like it's not just the Bears, it's like, you see it, it's made the club so remarkable. I'm like y'all in Chicago too, but it's like it's not happening to y'all the way it's happening to anybody else. It's weird, but go ahead, herb.
Speaker 2Don't get me started on the Bulls. I went with Houston, especially like, as somebody who doesn't really watch baseball that much, you just kind of expect them to be In the mix every year, so seeing them Start off.
Speaker 1As bad as they are.
Speaker 2He said who the White Sox? Oh yeah, colorado's 8-26 also.
Speaker 1Good God.
Speaker 3Oh, okay, so the White Sox won A couple games. Alright, they're on a streak, that's right, good God. Oh, okay, so the White Sox won a couple games. All right, look at that.
Speaker 2They're on a streak, that's right.
Speaker 1They want to be the worst in the history of the game, and the game goes back to how far they didn't want that moniker 18-0.
Speaker 2No, I'm just saying Houston. I just like I said to somebody who's not watching every day, houston is just one of those teams I expect to always be in the mix. So seeing them start off as bad as they are, which is a little weird Weird to look at it. I just, I guess I just always expect world series contender. Oh, did you lose me?
Speaker 1Yeah, you back in, you back in.
Speaker 2Yeah, houston, houston's, who I went with. Yeah.
Speaker 1That is surprising. That is surprising, oh man. Okay, another comment Baseball. Luckily from Rog, I haven't heard from Rog's podcast. Luckily for them, major League Baseball seasons are 500 games long, so they have time to bounce back. Yep, we can see the more pandemic if they don't bounce back after a 500-game season and you don't bounce back, what does that speak? So I totally hear you on that, roger. All right, let's transition to NBA. We're just rolling through all the sports. What's next? Tennis and golf, not really oh cool.
Speaker 3You got nothing to add for those.
Speaker 1In the NBA playoffs they're also. I'm on record about the NBA. I'm not changing my mind. I say what I said and it validates to every single day that I see or hear anything. The 90s are the greatest era in in history and everybody was in that era. It's better than anybody else I've ever seen. I'm just saying I'm sticking with that. But storylines that make you pay attention so far in the nba playoffs, besides lebron getting, what else are you seeing and hearing that's making you pay some attention? Is it Joel Embiid? Is it the Lake Show? Zion Wilson is back playing the way everybody thought he would Durant Legacy. What are you guys thinking about from the NBA playoffs? What's the storyline? To kind of pique your interest?
Speaker 2Well, zion did the season hurt again. So at some point New Orleans has like a huge decision to make. I mean, you know they get out of the play-in, they do lose to the Lakers, you know, but they still get out of the play-in the eighth spot, and then he doesn't play that whole series. So it's like, what are you going to do on that end? So, um, new orleans has a decision to make at some point. So for me it was still you know, I gotta go with all the disappointing stories, the bucks. I know there's injuries in this series, but they were disappointing all year. You still got bounced, I know. The thing that bothers me now is they're gonna be like oh, it wasn't their fault, they had injuries. At the end you guys could have got bounced with everybody. So let's's not. You know, brought on the Lakers' future, Yep, the whole Ed Edwards thing. The only thing that's bothering me is they're trying to like already, do the Jordan comparison.
Speaker 1It's like why can't we just let the man be great right now, you know why can't we ever somebody actually posted on your thing?
Speaker 2oh, ed Edwards is better than Jordan.
Speaker 1Yeah, I saw that. I don't know why he I didn't ask for that Is that what we're doing now. I'm not doing that.
Speaker 2No, why can't you just let the man be great yeah.
Speaker 1This is not. He took a shot that was similar to MJ. That's all you're showing me. Come on man, why are you?
Speaker 3doing this, let that man live. Everybody's great, if you only show a highlight.
Speaker 1Yes, thank you, let that man live.
Speaker 3I mean to be fair. Obj keeps getting on teams because he has an awesome highlight.
Speaker 1I mean he ain't getting on that many teams. I mean he's low leg injury and guess what? It's all over. That's been going on for years now. So Anthony Edwards, don't do that to that man. Don't put.
Speaker 2Just let him play. Just let him play, let him be great. They've got a great shot at knocking off the defending champs right now, so just let him be great, yeah.
Speaker 3I mean, they did the same thing to Derrick Rose, right?
Speaker 1Like he was playing out of his mind and then he gets hurt. And I add also the Warriors dynasty. What are you seeing in that? If you see anything?
Speaker 3Yeah, it's done.
NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft Analysis
Speaker 2They're going to start blowing that thing up the problem is they just re-signed Draymond so he's staying, but Klay just went 0 for 10 in his last game. How do you pay him a lot of money? He was never a great offensive talent outside of the shooting Not to take away from a shooting but he's not a put the ball on the floor, drive past anybody kind of guy he's like no, he's a shoot.
Speaker 2Yeah, and a defensive guy, you lose your athleticism, you don't have the great defense that you want to have. So if you don't have the shooting, you're done.
Speaker 1Oh my God, again, surprisingly I agree with her. Rod says the Ant Edwards MJ comparison is uncalled for. Only one name can be discussed with MJ. I was going to go ahead and move on, but now I'm not going to move on because you sent that comment out.
Speaker 2here I'm sure he's talking about Kobe. Yeah, he's definitely talking about Kobe Bryant.
Speaker 1Oh, kobe, that makes sense.
Speaker 2Okay, that makes sense yeah, yeah, kobe Definitely, and I expect another Daggers yeah.
Speaker 1So do you have any predictions for who you want to see play in the finals? I mean, you don't have to share that, but if you have any, I'd love to hear it.
Speaker 3So the surprise thing for me is the Knicks still being in, just because I'm so used to the Knicks nicking it up.
Speaker 1Oh my God, I ain't taking the bait. No more, brother. I'm over that.
Speaker 3It wasn't made as bait. You've watched the Knicks, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1You can talk about the Knicks whenever you want to. I'm totally down with it. I mean, I'll say this right now, before the series is starting tonight. I'm going to say it before we even get started. They did more with less than anybody I've seen in quite a long time, but the fact is you still have less Yep. Look at the rosters for the playoff rosters and look at the guys the amount of people and ours is lesser than the other person's team. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2It wasn't lesser than the other person's team. You know what I'm saying? It wasn't lesser than Philly. It wasn't lesser than Milwaukee.
Speaker 1It wasn't lesser than Philly.
Speaker 2Why do you think that?
Speaker 1because guys was hurt and he wasn't playing him.
Speaker 2It's like Julius Randall's the only guy you're like really missing, right.
Speaker 1No, Precious was out for a good bit of time too.
Speaker 2Oh, but Precious wasn't even like a major person for y'all. You traded to get him in the middle.
Speaker 1He wasn't even he was a throw-in. He was a throw-in on the trade.
Speaker 2You're talking about bodies yeah, but Thibs doesn't play that many people anyway.
Speaker 3You know what you get. That value meal Sometimes. That free churro is still awesome.
Speaker 2I guess. So I'm just not, I'm not, I'm not buying the Nick Saab story.
Speaker 1Like you know, they got the number two seed, so for a reason Saab story.
Speaker 2Yeah, that was a Saab story. They made it with more with less than anybody else Like no, I'm just they're going to make the Eastern Conference Finals. I just don't think they're getting by Boston.
Speaker 1I'm just shocked. Ain't no soft story, baby, I'm just shocked.
Speaker 3You think they take down the Pacers.
Speaker 1Hmm, I think so, you think they take down the Pacers.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think they take down the.
Speaker 1Pacers. I think they do, I hope they do it in a lot less.
Speaker 3I mean if you roll up against Boston, it won't matter, but I do think Boston takes them down.
Speaker 2I think Boston's path to the finals is probably one of the easier ones we've seen, just because this team in the East and every other East team is like flawed in like minor to major ways. Well, yeah, I mean, the Knicks are lesser, yeah apparently they're doing more with less than anybody else they've ever seen.
Speaker 1So no, I'm talking about this year. Ever seen is ridiculous. I'm not saying that.
Speaker 2But yeah, you didn't say you've never seen. I like how you played. Boston I like how you played.
Speaker 1Boston in the dark. You see what happens. Y'all you know what.
Speaker 2Y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all y'all y and you're going to go back and my tape's going to say I think they're going to beat the Pacers and still lose to Boston. So I wouldn't mind it If it was Boston versus the Knicks, I would be rooting for the Knicks, so I kind of want to see Boston taken down.
Speaker 1We played them tough this year.
Speaker 2We didn't win all the games at all, but I just think they have one of the more talented rosters, I think, picking up Porzingis if he actually comes back and then with that Drew Holiday pickup, that was like a low-key, nice little pickup too. So they just got one of the better rosters overall I agree with that. The Knicks, I think, are still going to chase that other star. I don't think Randall was that guy anyway. Brunson, I think, got him a good piece. I think they need one more star if they're really going to make a push.
Speaker 1I don't say you're going to avoid it. I don't think most folks will agree about the Randle part of your assessment, but you got to do something else, you just have to. I kind of feel like it needs to be somebody who can consistently shoot and make their own shot.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1We don't need another point guard. I'm not saying we need somebody who can actually shoot and create their own shot. I'd get a wing.
Speaker 2Yeah, I would get a wing.
Speaker 1I feel like that would help. I feel like that would make us that's what's more competitive, I guess more on par with what's already out there matchup wise. But I haven't heard any names whatsoever, so I have no idea what's going on. So, okay, raj says the Knicks haven't won a title since 1973. Sorry, you had to throw another dagger for no apparent reason. Well, the rest of the guys doing it. So you might as well go ahead and join in, so I could take it All right. So last question then we go ahead and close this out, all right. So out of the top 10 teams and of course Chicago picked twice so out of the top 10 teams that picked in the first round, I guess the first 12 picks, I guess it would equate correctly first 11 or 12 picks. That'd be Chicago, washington, the Pats, cardinals, giants, Chargers, falcons, titans, vikings and the Jets. Who's most equipped to compete in their divisions? And why Do we have to run through who they picked up, or are you guys pretty familiar with who they got?
Speaker 1I'm going to take a look at the Bears. I'm going to take a look at the Bears. I'm going to take a look at the Bears. Jk Dobbins and Gus Edwards from free. Yeah, take your time to check it out, all right.
Speaker 1So the Bears got, of course, caleb in Rome and they got Keenan Allen. They got a new OC who's known to be very creative with his schemes. I think Bo can speak about Shane Waldron. Share your thoughts on him when you get a chance. The Cardinals got MHJ and they got Jonah Williams at their O-tackle spot and a couple of cornerbacks there, I think too, to help out with Calamari, the Chargers got JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards from the Ravens. So you know the hard-boiled boys are talking. That don't happen by accident. Give me all your running backs that you ain't keeping no more. But that's okay because they need help there. So that's fine as long as they're healthy. I guess the team that can shock in a bad way could be the Jets. So we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 1Tyron Smith is not really physically doing great. He's been mentioned in a couple of articles, but he's the old tackle Physically. Some things have changed since his time in Dallas. Let me just put it like that. They got Mike Williams from the Chargers as well. They got Javon Kinlaw, I think he's from the Niners. I think both meet with him as well. They got Fashanda in the draft too, I think at 11. I think it was. So you can name as many as you want out of that list. Who do you think is best equipped to compete? Why do you think that?
Speaker 3I mean, the Bears are going to be interesting to see because they have weapons. They have, you know, the defense got way better as the season went. Their offensive line didn't get significantly better and that's going to be the real question moving forward. So I don't know if they're going to be the best equipped to deal with their division, because their division is going to be tough, but they are going to be interesting, best equipped to deal with their division because their division is going to be tough, but they are going to be interesting to watch to see how this team comes together.
Speaker 2Yeah. I would say is it cheating to say the Jets, because they went 11 instead of 10 by trading back. But it feels like the Jets, like with Rodgers, this has to be their year, you know, regardless of what they drafted.
Speaker 2And then the Chargers are always an interesting one, you know, because you're like can they take down the Chiefs? Maybe not, but you got to think that, you know a little bit, keeps them ahead of the Raiders and the Broncos, right, and if you stay ahead of them you're at least making the playoffs. And then you got a shot there.
Speaker 3I mean, if you're a Broncos fan, are you excited about your quarterback room?
Speaker 1No, I mean you know you mentioned that last week. I don't think anybody's excited, even after they had a week to think about it. Nobody's excited about the room. I don't know.
Speaker 3I mean Bo. Nix wins the job, I'm sure, but I mean.
Speaker 1I wouldn't know.
Speaker 2He wins the job.
Speaker 1Did you win the job or the other guys?
Speaker 3just lose. Yeah, I mean that's the thing. Right, you got Zach Wilson instead of. I mean you're not exactly, you know, setting the bar super high.
Speaker 2Yeah. So that Wilson's biggest news was yeah, we're not picking up your option. He's like I just got here. You haven't even seen me do anything Like yeah, we're good, we're like yeah, we've done that before.
Speaker 3We don't care if you've done anything, we've already made our decision up.
Speaker 1So when they brought him in, did they see something new that happened, or would they bought him in just to keep him to the curb?
Speaker 2they were shopping at shopping a dollar tree that had an extra buck, they said here you go, we'll give you this for zach wilson I mean, that's kind of the thing, is they?
Speaker 3only they didn't. They didn't give up anything to get him and they're only on the hook for half of his salary. So they, they got to pay what? Just over two million dollars for him. So they're like oh cool, depth piece, don't even care if you play.
Speaker 1In fact we hope you don't, okay, okay. Well, I think the Bears, the Cardinals and the Chargers have the ability to kind of improve on what they did last year. The Cardinals definitely had the room for that. They had four win seats I believe it was last year. So there's room for improvement. Anything they do above that is a bonus.
Speaker 3I also had like 40 picks.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't Were they all colors.
Speaker 3What's that?
Speaker 1Were they all colors.
Speaker 3In this draft they had a ton of picks.
Speaker 1Oh, you're talking about picks. I'm looking at my interception. No, no, draft, they had a ton of picks. Oh, oh, you're talking about picks. I'm looking at my interception. Okay, no, no, they had like it felt like they were on the clock constantly. Yeah, I'm gonna look at all the people that they came in, because I'm curious about that part too.
Analyzing Offenses and Rookie Performances
Speaker 1Let me ask you about the bears, because that name is the one that seemed to be at the top of the list like this. Uh, that's a tough division. I want to ask you about shane walgren's influence there. I mean, I've read up on him. I kind, for conversations like this, that's a tough division. I want to ask you about Shane Waldron's influence there. I mean, I read up on him, I kind of did some checking on how he runs his schemes and I guess he's known to be creative and using formations that were not modernizing the offense, if you will, and people seem to think that that's going to help Caleb and all this talent they have out there with him. Now, what do you think about Waldron and what do you think about the Bears being at the top of this list for the most equipped to compete in their respective division?
Speaker 3I mean he's going to need to get Caleb on the move if they don't do something in the last part of free agency here to get some more offensive line help, because although they did draft a piece, it's still not a great unit. So I don't care how many weapons you have, if you're getting thrown in the grass a lot, you're not completing tons of passes. So they're going to have to be a little bit creative to get him on the move, get the running back involved in blocking schemes and release schemes in order for him to, you know, be able to complete some of these passes.
Speaker 1Okay, so do you like? Do you like Walden's influence in this particular offense? Do you think this is helpful?
Speaker 3I mean compared to what they had sure.
Speaker 1Do you like what you did in Seattle?
Speaker 3No, no, no, I mean compared to what they had last year.
Speaker 3I mean I would say most things are an upgrade compared to what they had last year. So do I think he'll be a benefit there? Sure, am I a big Waldron fan? Not really. I didn't love a lot of what they did. That being said, our offensive line was super beat up, so he was creative and using a lot of 13 personnel. Where you have three tight ends, you know some of those guys are in blocking just to try and keep Gino Smith upright. So, despite the fact that the entire offensive line was hurt until like week 15, you know he didn't get sacked a lot Still a lot of quarterback hurries because there's not a lot of tight ends that are going to win against an edge rusher, but he didn't get sacked a crazy amount.
Speaker 1So let me ask you this Did you see this creative scheming that people are lording or walgling with? Did you see that in his time in seattle?
Speaker 3well. So this is where. This is where I view it a little different than a lot of seattle fans. Like, a lot of fans hated him because they're like we're not seeing anything creative and it's because they are kind of topically looking at it. If you looked at the exotic blocking schemes he was creating to try and keep Gino from getting murdered, um, I do like what he was doing, um, in that way, but you didn't get to see explosive play calling because Gino was under duress all the time. Um, if it wasn't for his creativity, I think he would have been sacked an incredible amount of times. So, uh, I do like some of the things he did. That being said, it was not a great year overall and his creativity was mostly trying to create blocking situations as opposed to tearing apart a defense. So I don't know if we got enough real information here in Seattle to say if we loved him or not, but I didn't. I didn't like the way the offense ran overall.
Speaker 1Fair enough. One of you guys said they need to get some wide receiver help. I heard already did the research on the numbers. I think about twenty two million dollars of cap space left in Chicago, so maybe perhaps it's enough for them to get somebody else to help out when you guys are intimated. But the Cardinals, like I said, they got an opportunity to kind of make some strides, but they're not winning the division. I don't think they're going to get what they have right now. The Chargers probably won't do that either, but I think they'll be a lot closer. I think they can hammer down the second spot without it being a negative in the win column. I think they can do a lot with that. Alt being on that line is going to be a big help for Herbert. I think Herbert is like on his knees, thanking God.
Speaker 2That's why I picked the Chargers. That was your pick Not to win the division, but I feel like the opportunity for second Before we jump out of this whole episode, the Jets.
Speaker 1So that was your pick Not to win the division, but I feel like the opportunity for second Okay. So before we jump out of this whole episode, the Jets For me this is like the kind of shock that could be in a bad way. I don't really feel good about this, and this is not New York hate or anything. I just don't feel good about them doing what this whole plan was supposed to be about, which is to go into the playoffs and potentially win a Super Bowl. I just don't see it anymore. In fact, I didn't really see it then either. I thought it could be in the playoffs. We talked about it in our pre-production for several shows and podcasts we were on before the NFL season last year started and it's like I just I felt like they'd be in the playoffs but I wasn't sure about the division. But I wasn't sure about the division and I definitely wasn't sure about anything beyond that. How are you guys feeling about it based on what you're seeing right now, the moves that they made? I know they've got a tackling for Sean. That's supposed to help, I guess.
Speaker 1Mike Williams awesome guy man, but health-wise, a lot of issues there. Like I said about Tyron Smith. I'm surprised nobody's talking about this. There's some issues there with his health. Physically. It's like, probably nobody's talking about this, there's some issues there with his health physically. Just like, wow, you want him to be the? Uh, well, maybe he's gonna be a tutor for fashanu and he'll take over eventually. I don't know how that's gonna work, but you got ken law on the defensive side. Do you guys feel good about this? Real quick on a yes or no. Do you think he's this is a an opportunity for them to go somewhere, or just too little, too late now for them?
Speaker 3you know it's funny. I actually think they have a better chance at their division this year than they did last year, because the bills have gotten.
Speaker 3The bills have gotten worse, right, miami, I don't trust uh, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously, they still have a ton of weapons on offense and uh added another one for no reason. But, um, you know, the defense is still a real question mark. And then the, the patriots, are gonna be bad, right, like they're not gonna be a good team. So if there was, if there was a year, I think this is their better chance of winning their division.
Speaker 2Um, I still think it's gonna be a weird, still think this is going to be a weird year. What's that? It's going to be a weird year over there for that division it is. Yeah, you have no idea what's going to happen, like game to game.
Speaker 3I mean the Bills when you think of how inconsistent they were last year, and then you get rid of an offensive piece and a couple of defensive pieces. None of that says we got better right pieces that none of that says we got better right.
Speaker 3And then miami is just like you know what? We're getting rid of all of our defense. It wasn't a good unit anyway, so now we're not going to have any of it. And then the pats are the pets right like they're? They're in full rebuild mode, so like if there was a chance for them to take advantage of this division. This is probably that year. I still think they're only a wild card caliber team, but they could win this division with a wildcard caliber team.
Speaker 1All right, We'll see. I want to answer some time to jump on his question really quick, Rapid fire, if you don't mind, please, guys. So why did Dastan just kill to win the offensive rookie of the year? It depends on how you qualify. If it's a, if it can go to anybody, regardless of position. Some other guys might make a real impact, like a Joe Ault. He may change the game because they needed that and you give Herbert time, he can dissect you. So it's like it could be Romy. I don't want to call him Romy, but it could be him. I mean, I don't know. It could be Marvin Harrison Jr. Kyler may feed him the ball. He might have 1,100, 1,200 yards, I don't know. So it's kind of hard to say Raj, I don't know. But you guys got real quick thoughts on that one.
Speaker 2I would like low-key Jane Daniels would be a pick for me, just because the running ability. I think he'll be running a lot more. Not that his team will be good or he'll do anything, but I just think the numbers will probably be there.
Speaker 3I mean as we did at LSU.
Speaker 2Defense was terrible team loss game. They shouldn't. But he was great and won the Heisman so I'll go with Jake Daniels.
Speaker 1Got that vote.

Speaker 3If Xavier worthy can figure out how to catch, if he can figure out how to catch a football, he'll have a shot. He'll have a shot because he'll be able to stretch the field and when you look at the defenses in that division, they'll be able to do some work there.
Speaker 1So if he can, I'm going to die on that idea. Right, you keep your money in the bank. Oh, I'm not spending money on any of these, it's a voting it doesn't have to happen in stats. The day after your anniversary.
Speaker 3But yeah, I think Xavier, if he can figure out how to catch, could put up a lot of yards.
Speaker 2Seems like a big thing for a wide receiver Figuring out how to catch at this point of his career. Certainly Are you able to learn that late in your career.
Speaker 3It seems like a big thing for a wide receiver figuring out to catch at this point of his career? Certainly.
Speaker 1Are you able to learn that late in your career? Is that a possibility to learn how to catch late in your career? Is that how that normally works, or did you learn that early? It seems like you should learn that before you get to the NFL.
