Why Making an UN-GRATEFUL List Can Help You Be More GRATEFUL
Nov 23, 2020 Episode 17

It may sound backwards, but making an un-grateful list can help you be more grateful.  In fact scientists estimate that we can improve our happiness level by up to 25% simply by practicing regular gratitude.

Gratitude is powerful, but our brains are sneaky.  They like to add subtle caveats to our gratitude statements that undermine our happiness.  It might sound like this; "I'm thankful for a healthy body." Then the brain adds, "but I'd be more thankful if I could lose a few pounds."  This sneaky follow up thought dampens the joy we get from gratitude.  But!  There is a simply way to minimize the brain's subtle maneuvers to dampen our joy.

In this episode we dive into why making an un-grateful list in addition to a gratitude list can help increase your gratitude.

What you'll learn:

  • Why gratitude increases happiness
  • Three reasons why a list of things you an un-grateful list can be helpful
  • All about how to join the 7-day challenge to share things you are grateful for now that were once on your un-grateful list.  Share these daily on social media wit the hashtag #theexpatmomthankful
