Humanity’s search for knowledge, pursuit of wisdom and pilgrimage into revelation has been throughout the ages. This relentless quest is found in every aspect of history.

Humanity reasons that knowledge is the search for truth, yet continue to deny truth itself. Knowledge is seen as a doorway into the unseen, the unknown and even to eternity.

Civilisations have come and gone. Wisdom through life experiences are rarely embraced. As the nature of humanity never changes. So humanity repeats its past offences.

Knowledge, wisdom and revelation of the seen and unseen world is at the heart of the divine. Throughout history God imparted knowledge, wisdom and revelation into those who He officially commissioned to testify of Him. Who gave their allegiance to Him and acknowledged His right to rule and reign. One such person was Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ.

So let us go to the second recorded letter of Peter and discover what is the most valued and honoured in God’s eternal kingdom.

2 Peter 1:1-4 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Peter writes to those who have obtained precious faith. Obtained is the primary action word that actually means, given by divine allotment. Faith is the truthfulness of God, especially in the reliance of Jesus for salvation. Precious in this context is of equal value and highest honour.

Justice in God’s kingdom is equality for all. It is because of God’s righteousness that He gives equal honour and value to every individual throughout the ages. This is true justice. The justice of God. That no matter what circumstances we are born into in this life, God honours and respects each one equally.

So God has given to the collective us, intimately and personally, equal value and honour. God has placed the highest value upon every individual’s salvation. The ultimate value of Himself becoming the sacrifice for us, so that we could receive and believe.

God honours and values each one equally. As salvation is a gift of God Himself to us. Salvation is there, for anyone to receive and believe. Having received God’s sacrifice in Jesus and His right to rule and reign, we are partakers of the divine. Peter reminds every disciple of Jesus this truth.

Then Peter declares Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Grace being the divine influence upon the heart of humanity. It is the merciful kindness of God towards humanity. Where God gives everything of Himself to humanity, collectively and individually. He gives His joy and delight to us.  For it is His desire that each one grows in the knowledge of His affection.

Peace is quietness, rest, harmony, a tranquil state of being and by implication prosperity. For the greatest wealth is the knowledge, wisdom and revelation of the living God. The eternal one who knows all things, in wisdom and love created. He freely gives wisdom to all those who are His.

The eternal one is continually revealing Himself to humanity. Bringing revelation and enlightenment in who He is, what He has done for us and what He will do. All so that we can live in the fullness of all He has given us. His salvation and freedom, grace and peace, life everlasting.

No matter where we are in this life journey, there is always more with God. For He is the eternal one, the giver of life and godliness. In full discernment, that is the precise and correct knowledge of the divine, God’s grace and peace abounds. The knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord not only abounds but multiplies individually and therefore collectively.

Wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God is a gift from God. Knowing this the Apostle Paul prayed to God the Father for the saints to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Ephesians 1:17-21 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

It is the will of the Father that all will come to know and experience Him. That all that come to Him and receive His right to rule and reign so that they can be truely free. God does not need us to know Him as He is in a perfect love relationship within Himself. Father, Son and Spirit. Yet God knows for us to be truly free from the destructive forces of our selfish desires, evil and death, we need to receive His salvation. To receive His salvation we need to receive Him.

To be truly free is to know, experience and see the reality of who Jesus and what He has done for us in our everyday. To live not only in the future hope of His inheritance, but in His transforming life giving power.

The Apostle Paul continues in the same letter emphasising that increased knowledge, wisdom and revelation of God is in the Son.

Ephesians 4:13-15 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

So just as Peter stated in his letter, so too does Paul. The daily journey is to have the full knowledge, wisdom and revelation of God being a reality in our everyday life. However there will come a day when we will come into the fullness of the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God. This unity and oneness we have already received, yet it is the daily journey to grow in the knowledge of Him. To have this oneness collectively experienced in our everyday lives.

Back to 2 Peter 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

Through the knowledge and experience of God, which is a work of God and a gift to us, we are partakers of His divine nature. One with Him. As such He has given to us, all things that pertain to life and godliness.

That is the absolute fullness of life that belongs to God and is God Himself, He gives to us. When we say yes to Jesus, yes to God, we are blessed with the Spirit of life dwelling within us. The precious Holy Spirit of God.

Godliness in this context is the reverence and honour that God the Son has for God the Father. In Jesus’ humanity the surrender of His human will, to that of the divine will of God the Father. The surrender of human will to that of the divine will, is our continual daily journey. In surrender is victory and freedom. As we surrender each day, all blockages of the day are removed from receiving more of Him. In surrender we are growing in the knowledge, wisdom and revelation of Him.

2 Peter 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

In surrender of self will, there is the natural production of His character in us. Through the fulfilment of divine will in and through our lives, we are partakers of His divine nature. That is in fellowship and in oneness with Him. Freely receiving more of Him. More of His love, His joy, His peace, His patience, His kindness, His goodness, His gentleness, His faithfulness, His self-control.

Each day is a new day to surrender the lust and corruption of this world and receive more of Him. In surrender, God is working, growing us in the knowledge, wisdom and revelation of Him.

Peter continues.

2 Peter 1:5-11 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Given that we have been given by God the righteousness of Jesus and in the daily journey of surrender, we are partakers of His divine nature, we give all interest of one’s self to God.

Knowing that it is God’s desire for us to know and experience Him more each day, and that He has given us everything to be able to receive and believe, we can trust in Him. As we take a moment each day to surrender and receive from Him, it is a natural and supernatural certainty we will grow in our knowledge of Him. We simply need to be willing and take that moment.

We are the praise of His glory, as each day He transforms us. God will produce His good fruit in us as we surrender and receive from each day.

Peter explains that if anyone lacks in these things, then they have forgotten having received Jesus they are cleansed from passed sins. Forgotten what Jesus has done and given, in His life, death, resurrection and ascension.

To this day, through this letter, Peter reminds us that even though we are established in the present truth, through the daily journey of surrender and receive, we grow in the knowledge, wisdom and revelation of God.

For there is no greater pursuit in this life than knowing and experiencing the living God. Living each day in the fullness of His victory of surrender of self will, to that of our Father’s will.

Giving our thoughts, whether positive or negative to Jesus. We cannot control the thoughts coming but we can give them to Jesus. So we can be truly free.

Each day being real with God and acknowledging how we are feeling. Sharing our emotions with Our Father in heaven. Acknowledging the highs and the lows of this life. Through them all He is with us and cares how we feel. We cannot control our feelings but we can give them to Jesus. So we can be truly free.

We live in this world damaged by evil, with sickness, accidents and injuries. Yet each day we can  surrender our physical, aging bodies to Him. Letting Him minister to us transforming us.

Spiritually in fellowship and sweet communion with Him. Taking a moment each day to surrender and receive from Him. Remembering what He has done and given to us. In worship knowing and experiencing His gift of that heart to heart connection of His Spirit within us with that of our Father in heaven.

Each day living in the fullness of His victory of surrender of self will, to that of our Father’s will. So that we can be truly free. Increased knowledge, wisdom and revelation. All this to the praise of His glory.
