Speaker 1:

welcome back to the podcast. Today is one day, october the second, and we are back in the podcast we here.

Speaker 2:

It's wednesday, um, honestly, I don't really got nothing else. We gotta talk about college football, gotta talk about nfl football. We're going to do the recaps of this past weekend, so that would be week four of NFL football and that would be week five of college football. So I just want to talk about that. I want to talk about some recent trade news, and we'll start all that by just talking a little bit of basketball here. Only one thing I know Jace hates basketball, so I just basketball here. I know only one thing I know jay states basketball, so I just wanted to. This came up like since the last time we podcasted nick's trade for carl anthony, towns for julius randall and dante divincenzo, with charlotte being the third team in the trade getting a couple second round picks to make sure the money's right. I only have one question just off the top of your head doesn't have to be necessarily a long conversation does. Does this make the Knicks a formidable foe in the East, because they were already a fifth seed last year, right?

Speaker 1:

Based on what they are. No, I'd say it makes them worse. You trade the reigning six-man of the year. You trade one of your better scorers.

Speaker 2:

Julius Randle got played off the floor.

Speaker 1:

I understand with Juliusius randall because he's just not good offensively.

Speaker 2:

Your backup guard devon chunzo was like he. He broke the record for amount of threes, made um in a season in a nick uniform. So that part I get is is a debt, and not to mention he's a. He plays defense too. So he plays some very good defense and you trade those two pieces away and for as much as Randall is a problem, like he was still a good rebounder and he was still able play, you able to play a decent amount of defense if, maybe, if not the greatest, and you trade for a guy in carol anthony towns that, yes, he definitely upgrades you offensively, but defensively he's barely anything like.

Speaker 2:

Maybe he showed a little bit of a pulse when they played against Phoenix last year in the playoffs when he was with Minnesota, but I just don't think he's going to be a good enough defensive piece to kind of fit what that Knicks culture is. And I just and I also think that with it depends on how they want to use him right, because Carl Anthony Towns is really big for not wanting to play under the basket, not actually playing like a big man Most of the time. He wants to play on the perimeter, he wants to pick and pop, he wants to do all of that. He'll be good at that with Jalen Brunson. But what do they want him to be? Do they want him to be a true center or do they want him to be more of a stretch five type of thing where all he's gonna have to do defensively is just guard the bucket, guard the paint and then offensively he's not necessarily going to like assert his will necessarily, because if people have that problem with anthony davis chronically, towns ain't even close to anthony davis in the way that they play the same position, but I think they have the same issue. So I just don't think.

Speaker 2:

Maybe I think this like makes him a better offensive team, but just defensively it just doesn't fit the culture and not to mention, he had tibideau as a coach before and it didn't really work out all that well. So like, does that get better? Was, like it never an issue between them? Like who knows what, all the, whatever, the how this is gonna go? I want to say it makes them better, but I almost feel like it makes them the same, just based off what they gave up and what they were before and what made them such a good team. You're just giving up a little bit of your identity to make yourself a little better offensively.

Speaker 2:

But I don't know, I don't know, it's a. It's a weird thing. They were already one of the better teams in the East. So I don't think this makes you like the top team. I think it makes you more interesting. Like, maybe in a series it'll make it'll make it a little more difficult against whoever you're gonna face. When you have to go and face Joel Embiid and stuff like that, you'll have a guy that potentially can score, like them. But here's the only issue is that Cat isn't as you know. He isn't as, uh, what is it? It's not stable but, uh, consistent as some of the other big men you're going to be facing in the East. So I just I don't know, it's just a meh trade. I'm just not sure yet. Maybe there's something yet to see, maybe he'll have a spark in him knowing that he's now been traded away from the team that drafted him. Who knows? But I just figured we got to at least talk about that before the season, before the NBA season started, which is going to start here in the next month or so, I think Month or two, all right. So on to the things we actually talk about.

Speaker 2:

Ncaa football week five recap. I just kind of want to run through these games. I'm not going to go too long on any of them. Maybe the Ohio State game and then the Georgian-Alabama game, that one too, but other than that, that's what I want to run through the other ones. So first one Florida State's, now 1-4. After losing to SMU. We'll now go to the younger QBs on the roster, so literally they're 1-4 now. Based on the rest of their schedule, they could be an 8-7-8 loss team this year, 8-9, 7-8-9 loss team this year, 8-9, 7-8-9 lost team this year. And I just think this might be one of the first true tests on what a mostly what a mostly NIL type of not NIL a mostly transfer portal build of a team is going to get you right.

Speaker 2:

So when you start this year and you struggle and then you make the wrong decision bringing in the quarterback that you brought in from the transfer portal, it all kind of goes to crap. And then all the other pieces that you brought in through the transfer portal they're not invested in your team to try their hardest to kind of keep everything going. So it just felt like as soon as the hard, the hard times hit very early on, it just seems like it's not getting any better. So now, with this Florida state team kind of being the poster child for the way that they've been building their team over the last couple of years, it kind of shows what the downside could be If you start picking the wrong players to come into your squad.

Speaker 2:

And I and again, I don't think it's going to be as bad for, like the teams like Alabama, georgia, ohio state who don't need they. They still get most their players from high school but then they kind of want to like just fill in different gaps. And with transfer portal guys and jace, I think for you you you literally went through this as well with michigan state was that it was cool when you brought in a few pieces kenneth walker, and you brought in a couple, a few pieces here, there, and then you still had a lot of team that was still already there. You can kind of build something pretty special. But in the second year of having what was that coach's name?

Speaker 1:

Mel Tucker Mel.

Speaker 2:

Tucker In the second and third year of having him. It didn't go as well because you weren't picking the right guys and it wasn't coming together. You're like building a concoction on a year-in-year-out basis but the problem is that they're not ever going to have the buy-in that they're going to have when they're an NFL guy and you're going to be paying for your next contract or trying to stay on the team or something like that. So I just think there's ups and downs to this whole NIL not NIL slash transfer portal build for some of these teams, with Florida State kind of being the most high profile, probably along with Colorado, in doing that, and it's just kind of it can blow up in your face pretty quick if it doesn't go well. That's why I wanted to mention Florida State. Colorado, like I already said, shows that it can be dominant in a game against a conference opponent. They beat UCF 48-21. They showed after last week where they were supposed to win. They look actually no last week to win. They were an underdog. No, no, no, no. They beat Baylor. They came in. It was a game they thought they could win and they ended up winning it, and it was a close one.

Speaker 2:

Coming off of that game where, mostly under a Deion-led team, whether it's going to be with Colorado the last two years. Can they stack wins? Can they have a good week week on week and have another good game? Everybody was questioning whether they can do it. A lot of people didn't Like, a lot of people were betting against them. They came in and just beat the crap out of UCF. The game honestly wasn't all that close 48-21. And I just think it does show that maybe they still have their issues, obviously when it comes to their defense, but when it comes to offense their offensive line play a little bit better. Again they're playing against a UCF team, not necessarily the strongest of college football teams, but they at least protected um Shador a little bit better at there at that quarterback position. And then Travis Hunter still making a lot of plays. He's playing 130, some 130 snaps a game and that he's still looking like one of the better players in college football.

Speaker 2:

So my question is does he have a real shot to Heisman? I'm again, I'm not totally sure about that. Can he survive the whole season? I'm not sure can he, because he has up to this point. They're going into a bye week and they probably much needed at this point and then they're going to be able to play the rest out the rest of their season. So can he be a Heisman candidate? Possibly. I think that's key point in games. I don't think you can lose four or five, six games and potentially be a T and be have a Heisman hit candidate. But I think if they keep this going they could potentially do so and honestly, with their one loss right now, they are a player in the Big 12 to like it was one of the better teams in the whole thing. So I just think it's worth mentioning how crazy this could all go if Colorado does manage to defy everybody's expectations and make it to the big 12 championship game. If not, and if, maybe, if they win that, get to the playoff. And again, I'm not sitting here saying they're going to be a national title contender, because they're not. I think they are a team held up by two, a few superstar pieces and then you have a lot of dudes that are just kind of there. So I'm not necessarily trying to believe in this long term, but I just think the fact that we're five weeks into the in the college football season and they are here right now the only one loss in the year. I just think it kind of sets up for potentially a very insane storyline for the rest of the year if they keep playing the way that they're playing.

Speaker 2:

Uh, next, I just kind of want to do a shout out to Boise State running back Ashton Gentee. He is playing like an absolute maniac for Boise State running back, ashton Gentee. He is playing like an absolute maniac for Boise State as their running back Currently he has 82 carries, 845 yards and 13 touchdowns, and that is after four or five games this season. That's five. That's five games. So the fact that he has in there no sorry four games and they're three and one. So, with that being the case, and he has in there no sorry four games and they're three and one. So, with that being the case, and he has any, honestly he's looking like probably the best running back in college football.

Speaker 2:

The first question is can they, can he keep this up? Like when it comes to him staying healthy, honestly, who knows, it's football, but I just think the way that they're using him, they're giving him so many carries. The last game he played he had 26 carries for 259 yards and four touchdowns. So like he is all of Boise State's offense and they are looking like probably the best team in the group of five to potentially make the playoff. So if they keep riding him like this and he stays healthy and is able to keep going and they make it to the playoff, he might have a real case to try to potentially win the Heisman. And again, I think probably the only other guy that I can think of that even has a Heisman like really a shot right now at least have has a what is it a stake at it is potentially Milrow, and you talk about Travis Hunter. So I just think it's a very big storyline going with Boise State with that running back being as good as he is.

Speaker 2:

Clemson and Notre Dame are staying within. I just kind it's a very big storyline going with Boise State with that running back being as good as he is. Clemson and Notre Dame are staying within. I just kind of want to mention those two real quick. They are staying within striking distance of the playoff. Clemson after that very bad loss to Georgia in Week 1, they have managed to look better and better every week. Offensively their defense is still very good. And then Notre Dame even though they lost to NIU ever since then. They have been winning every game since and I just think this one is the bad one, because I think when you lose to NIU, there should be no good reason why Notre Dame should have a shot at the playoff. Still, I think a loss that bad should be something that should disqualify you from getting to the promised land, especially when they are pretty much by themselves. They don't have to beat anybody in a conference, they just have to play their schedule out. So the fact that you don't have to have a call a go to a conference championship game or anything like that, I just think with a loss that bad, it's just it'll be kind of insane if they went out the rest of their way and they still managed to get into the playoff. First off, I don't think they would deserve it and second off, with the schedule that they have, it's just not really all that tough as of right now and it would just be kind of gross if they managed to still get in even after having such a bad loss to NIU.

Speaker 2:

Next, I wanted to talk about Michigan Minnesota. I'm not going to go too far on this. Michigan kind of had very good control of the game up until literally the second half, where Michigan only scored six points. They let Minnesota score 21 points in the fourth quarter and really come back and be within three points At at the end of the game, with like a minute or like a little over a minute left, minnesota goes for an onside kick and they were called by the officials for being offside. They weren't offside and they managed to recover the onside kick with um in in that play.

Speaker 2:

So the fact that the officials took the ball away from Minnesota with a chance to win the game after they had surged all the way back from being down, what is that? 27-3? So, with all that being the case, it just sucks. No, sorry, 24-3. So the fact they managed to work their way all the way back and Michigan kind of played terribly enough to kind of let Minnesota back in it to where the referees came in and kind of put a stink on the whole game and kept Minnesota from really being able to at least have an opportunity to get down the field and try to tie the game up, if not win the game altogether, I just think that it sucks very much. And after this they did say that the officials are going to kind of do that differently, where they're going to do a little bit of review to where that doesn't happen again.

Speaker 2:

But I just think if michigan, with their gadget offense, played against a minnesota team where it looked like they were in control and then by the end of the end of the game they weren't able to really keep up the momentum, um, and I just think when michigan plays better teams than a team like minnesota, it'll be harder for them to play the game that they played, cause I think Michigan had, like what is it? How many 86 passing yards in this game total. So I don't think they can keep playing offense the way that they're playing and expect to be able to like win the games against the bigger opponents they have in their schedule. Um, usc plays well against Wisconsin, goes down early, able to surge back. Usc just shows they're a much better team than Wisconsin, even if they're not necessarily built for the way a team like Wisconsin is built when it comes to the offensive and defensive lines.

Speaker 2:

I just think it just shows how USC is probably not as good as probably people were thinking. Coming into this year, probably not coming into this year. People were undervaluing them and people started overvaluing them after some of the wins they had throughout this year. But it just shows USC offensively is able to do enough to beat a bad Wisconsin team. Who was it Bad offensively? All right, a few more games. Ole Miss, kentucky. Ole Miss loses. I mentioned Ole Miss as a title contender last podcast. Jace laughed at me and said no're not, and he called me an idiot.

Speaker 1:

Omis proved me to be an idiot. They lose kentucky and I called you an idiot as they were losing. Yes, you did.

Speaker 2:

I walked in the kitchen, called you a dumbass and walked out, didn't even need shit and honestly that was all that's all on me me giving any type of credit to omis and they lose the game like this. And honestly, kentucky just kind of like really controlled the game from start to finish. Ole Miss, who is much more talented than them, shouldn't have struggled the way they did and they did, because they kind of suck. Um. So Ole Miss still has everything in front of them, but when they have to go and face a team like Georgia at the end of the year, it just shows that like they're gonna have some really big issues against teams that are just as good as them. Um, when, especially when they lost to a team that's definitely not supposed to be able to beat a team like Ole Miss.

Speaker 2:

Um, illinois, penn State this is where the problem came in, because three good games came on all at the same time at 7 30, so I was pretty much having to flip through games. My Ohio State game came on at 730 against Michigan State. You have Bama playing Georgia at 730 and then Illinois and Penn State playing at 730. I'll mention the Penn State-Illinois game first, because that one was probably the most boring. Penn State and Illinois were like close in the first quarter, but everything after that it felt like Penn State had this game in hand. It just felt like that Illinois just didn't have the firepower to really make Penn State pay.

Speaker 2:

Penn State's defense was able to play a very good game. Their defense kept control of the whole game and then Penn State's offense was very slow to really do anything else for the second and like getting to the third quarter. But once they were able to do so they did score another 14 points to make it 21 to 7. But Illinois's defense came to play just offensively. Illinois wasn't able to make Penn State worry about get not only the pass but the run in a way that would really put Penn State in jeopardy of losing this game. But it was like the more boring game of the three Ohio State Michigan State. Well, I'm not going boring game of the three Ohio State Michigan State. I'm not going to talk too much about it. Ohio State took control of the game. Start to finish. Jeremiah Smith's a monster. Throw the ball up to him. He turns it to 50-50 balls and to 90-10 balls.

Speaker 1:

It is what it is. I'm not going to Dude Aiden.

Speaker 2:

Charles is fucking bad and he made bad decisions.

Speaker 1:

I don't understand. I do not understand his decision making. I watched the first quarter of this game and I was like I'm done with this bullshit.

Speaker 2:

Your defense played well, they always play well.

Speaker 1:

We have a very stout defense. They know what plays they're making. It's just we're making the plays and these motherfuckers are scoring seven.

Speaker 2:

Especially in that first quarter where it was 3-0. It was a three-point game in the first quarter, like your defense was making good plays and stopping Ohio State. There was a few turnovers, but it's just as the game went on. You could just tell Ohio State's depth kind of came into play and then offensively Ohio State started clicking and then the defense was kind of like oh, there's no point. The only points you guys scored was after a Will Howard terrible pick that he threw into double coverage and you guys got a short field and you guys scored off of that. But other than that your offense wasn't able to do anything. Nope.

Speaker 1:

We only let him throw 19 times 19, dude, and then we weren't really rushing the ball either. So it really feels like we did not have possession of the ball.

Speaker 2:

No, you didn't.

Speaker 1:

Time of possession. You had 35 total minutes, we had 24. So you had 15, almost 10 minutes more than we did.

Speaker 2:

We were running the football very effectively in this game.

Speaker 1:

If you're only going to let your quarterback throw 19 times, we'll hire a 331.

Speaker 2:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

No, I think Aiden Childs is more talented. I do. I think Aiden Childs is a more talented quarterback. I think he's a more physically gifted quarterback. I think he has a stronger arm than Will Howard. But you know what Will Howard's going to do. He's going to take care of the football a lot better. He's going to make better decisions.

Speaker 2:

Give it to his playmakers and let them do their thing.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to throw it to the dude over there. That is 6'67" and I'm going to keep throwing it to him, you know what's funny, he didn't even throw that touchdown pass to Jeremiah Smith.

Speaker 2:

He went out after he had gotten flattened and he lost all of his breath. All the air was out of his chest. So Devin Brown had to come in and he threw that touchdown pass to Jeremiah Smith and he just palmed that thing. Honestly, it's almost like his hands get bigger every time I see him play.

Speaker 1:

He's a monster. We stopped running the ball, which was a big problem we had.

Speaker 2:

You were able to run the football effectively when you were in the game, but then, as Ohio State got further and further away, you had to pass more, and it only accentuated that.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's the problem is we still didn't pass enough. If he only threw 19 times over four quarters, he's only throwing like what. That would be 4.1 times a quarter. Yeah, what the fuck.

Speaker 2:

They were trying to do a lot of like play action running the football. They yeah, what the fuck they were trying to do a lot of like play action running the football. They were like trying to do all that because again you're, when you do that, you're bringing out ohio state's third linebacker and then we're taking one of our best dbs off the field. It's a whole thing. Our linebacker core is probably like the weaker part of our defense and they can get lost a little bit in coverage and that's where you guys were able to get some chunk plays.

Speaker 2:

Um was throwing to your tight ends and then not only that, I think Ohio State was kind of playing where, like hey, we're not going to give up any deep balls, so they were playing off a little bit corner wise, so you were able to get a lot of short yardage underneath, especially on the Davison Igbenosin side.

Speaker 2:

Like he was letting your wide receivers get a lot of catches, but he was just kind of coming up and tackling you, because once he tackles you, like once he gets onto you, hold of you, he's not going to let go. Like he's a very good tackler, but when it comes to like being a one-on-one quarter, being stingy and keeping you from catching it. That's not necessarily his strength and they weren't telling him to. They were just saying, hey, give up anything underneath, we're going to take advantage, we're going to keep everything in front of us and then, once he gets to the red up, and it's going to be very hard for you to score, that's exactly how this game played out and I just think and yes, like you said, when Aiden Childs, he made a lot of crazy decisions, but you could tell that, you can tell that the, when he was able to step into throws, he can rifle him in. Physically he has everything. He has all the tools.

Speaker 1:

Physically he can sling the football anywhere he wants on the field.

Speaker 2:

He looks like he's playing on Madden and he's like I can fit it in anywhere and I can throw it.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

And there is no consequences for me throwing a bad pass. That's how he plays. And when he comes off the field and he has that face, he doesn't have the face of oh, I messed up, it was a face like oh, it's fine.

Speaker 1:

He looks like Trevor Lawrence and it pisses me off. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2:

It's. I just think he's not developed enough as a quarterback to know where you could have been better.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, dude.

Speaker 2:

And he just felt like he's out there just trying to make plays.

Speaker 1:

Yes, we have a high schooler playing for the fucking team. Yeah, when you have a dude that far goes his senior year, he's a little young and should not be starting. Yeah, this is the type of quarterback that sits for another year or two. Yep, because you know what? How old is Will Howard, 20?

Speaker 2:

Will Howard's like 22, man, he's a fifth year senior.

Speaker 1:

Exactly this motherfucker is a child.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

He is freshly 18. He was 17 at Oregon State last year. He is 18 at Michigan State this year.

Speaker 2:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

Unlike the motherfucker in Alabama who's 17. 17.

Speaker 2:

He won't be 18 until February. He won't even be able to vote. Yeah, like he's young, young.

Speaker 1:

Yes, by the time he is in the NFL, he'll be a top three receiver at 22.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

I know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he'll be getting to his money early, early.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because he's playing all of this year, so he'll play next year and then he'll play the year after.

Speaker 2:

He's only playing three years. Trust me, him and Jeremiah Smith will be battling to be the number one receiver.

Speaker 1:

So he'll be 18 going on, 19 getting drafted.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So then everybody's looking at this 21-year-old like fuck, we have to deal with you for tennis years.

Speaker 2:

Him and Jeremiah Smith. Man From what?

Speaker 1:

I'm looking at he's more talented.

Speaker 2:

This is where. I'll make the case.

Speaker 1:

Nigga did. You see what he did.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Okay, but I think he does it more like Devontae, he does it more with swiftness and finesse, while Jeremiah Smith's more powerful.

Speaker 1:

He's going to sun you. So we have DK Metcalf compared to Jamar Chase. Whatever you want to say, he's bigger, he's smart.

Speaker 2:

He's bigger, he's smart. He's faster than DK Metcalf. He's a better receiver.

Speaker 1:

Right now no Big body receivers don't last very long.

Speaker 2:

He's not like that big body receiver, he's only 6'3". He's 6'3", 2'15".

Speaker 1:

He's very good.

Speaker 2:

He can run every route in the route tree. He's Julio.

Speaker 1:

Oh, how many years Julio play.

Speaker 2:

I, yeah, he's. He's julio. Oh, how many years julio play. I'm not doing this. How often am I going down this road?

Speaker 2:

Speaking of the 17 year old bama georgia, the game of the night, pietro resistance. It didn't start that way. The first half was absolutely awful. Bama was up 30 to 7 at halftime. Honestly, it makes you think, oh, I don't need to watch this game because bama just poured it on to this georgia team over and over and over again, to where you're like what happened? Because nobody really thought. Honestly, it makes you think, oh, I don't need to watch this game because Bama just poured it on to this Georgia team over and over and over again. It's where you're like what happened? Because nobody really thought it was going to be this type of game. Everybody thought it was going to be close. Nobody really thought Georgia was going to destroy Alabama, but people generally was like, oh, this could be a good game, it's going to be close.

Speaker 2:

First half was not playing that way. Ryan Williams was making big. He didn't really make his biggest plays until the second half but Jalen Monroe was doing Jalen Monroe things In the first half. He had 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in the first half. So like he was on pace to potentially hit 400 yards passing and 200 yards rushing, which would have been like a crazy type of game. But Jalen Monroe went out there, played very well. Well, he went 27 to 33 on the game, two touchdowns and a pick. Miller also added 117 yards, uh, rushing with another two touchdowns. He was an absolute stud in this game. And when you compare that to carson beck, who had a very bad first half, like he wasn't really hitting any passes and then you kind of, and he was playing very badly in the first half, second half he kind of heated up. I'll just say overall his stats were 27 to 50 439 yards, three touchdowns, three picks. He had two picks in the first half wasn't playing all that well and in the second half it kind of felt like Georgia was like hey, we have to hit big plays to win, to get back into this game. That's exactly what they did.

Speaker 2:

Carson Beck hit a few big play, big deep balls down the field to get them back into it, and it all came back, came down to Georgia getting the ball back with a chance to go win it. Carson Beck keeps throwing another deep ball under, throws it, gives it to and then throws a pick to one of Bama's. It was a freshman corner that they had actually no freshman safety. They had actually no freshman safety. They had in their secondary that went and picked it to end the game.

Speaker 2:

I think the difference was in this game was that Georgia defensively kind of let Alabama go crazy and Ryan Williams actually not necessarily all their past catchers, but it was Ryan Williams who was an absolute superstar in this game. He had six receptions, 177 yards and a touchdown. On one big play he tipped the ball to himself after not catching the first time, tips it to himself and for a huge gain down the field. And then on another one this was late in the game where Georgia was able to tie the game back up. Or were they just down like two or something like that?

Speaker 2:

Let me make sure I had the. Let me see I make sure I have the store score right because georgia had ended up getting a touchdown to get the game back within a within a touchdown and then bama went down and scored in one play. They threw a short pass to ryan williams. He gets it, catches it between two defenders, does this little move to the left. It's almost like he was ice skating on a football field. Which is how he was moving, which is how swift and effortless he moves, and he was able to take it all the way down to the touch. What is it?

Speaker 1:

End zone.

Speaker 2:

To the end zone. Pylon Sorry, I was looking for Pylon. He's able to take it all the way down in one play in order for them to kind of go up seven again and pretty much put the game back into their hands. And then they gave the ball back to Georgia and that's when they threw their pick. But it was just Georgia was. It was a tale of two halves Bama looked like they would be unbeatable in the first half and Georgia looked terrible. And then in the second half Bama cooled off and Georgia was able to make a run to get back into the game and they looked like they could beat anybody when they were playing like that.

Speaker 2:

Offensively, I think both defenses have their issues. They're really going to be able to give up a lot of big plays down the field. None of their corners are necessarily world beaters when it comes to being able to stop big plays. And I think, offensively, georgia Carson Beck as much as he looked like he was supposed to be a number one overall quarterback coming out of this year in the draft, he has his issues. He's not really able to hit a lot of tight throws. He's not necessarily the greatest when it comes to his accuracy when it comes to putting the ball in a spot where his wide receivers can take it and get bigger chunk plays. And then on the deep balls he was throwing he was underthrowing them a lot. So he doesn't necessarily have the crazy arm strength that you would like. He showed some issues.

Speaker 2:

Jalen Millerell had a great game. I just felt like he still has his problems offensively where he can't really nickel and dime you all the way down the field. But he throws a very beautiful deep ball. He can run like crazy. But the problem was when Georgia started closing up the outside portion of the field where Jalen Miller was getting a lot of his rushing yards, it kind of stalled their offense a bit and they weren't able to get to a drop back passing game to be able to like get up and down the field in the second half when they potentially needed to hold on to the ball for a bit to keep Georgia from being able to score more points. But no, this game is absolutely amazing and I fear for anybody that didn't watch this game and had to watch it via clips afterwards, because in the moment in that second half it was insane. Energy was crazy. That stadium was great. I think you could literally feel it through the television. And as much as people don't like to talk about how Bama's fans are a little bit pretentious and they've already had all of their crazy success, but in this game they showed out and they were there, they were loud, they went crazy in this game. So I have to give everybody credit because that was a game to remember and both teams played well in spots to look like they're one of the best teams in the in the country, but then they also showed they have issues too, to where they can get beat by anybody. So a great game. But I just don't think it really shows like either one of them is like the best in the country. So that makes me very happy being an Ohio state fan, not being a part of this game. So that's all I got for college football Um, I know, jc, you really don't have anything.

Speaker 2:

So let's go ahead and go on to the NFL stuff Uh, recap those um, recap those games, and then we'll give our Thursday night football pick, um, so we can have that before next week's. Uh, before we podcast again on Saturday um, and give the rest of our NFL picks and pick, so we can have that before next week's, before we podcast again on Saturday and give the rest of our NFL picks and stuff. So no sorry Friday. So when it came to our records, we actually did well. Last week, jace, we went, we both went 10 and six very good weeks when it came to picking our games. And we'll just kind of go through the rest of the game.

Speaker 2:

So saints Falcons first one I'll talk about Falcons won the game 26-24. It seemed like throughout most of the game they kind of had good control. It was pretty much close. Either way, it took the Falcons to hit a last-second field goal to get the win from Young-Wei Ku. He had a 58-yard field goal with two seconds left, so huge leg to be able to hit that one. It was two teams that are kind of similar in the way that they're built. I think the Falcons are a tad bit better. But the Falcons were just able to do a little bit more defensively to stop the Saints from doing what they wanted to do. But, especially since it was an in-division matchup, definitely a big win for the Falcons to get Next game.

Speaker 2:

Rams-bears Bears win the game 24-18. Rams are a depleted team but we both still thought the Rams were going to win this game but the Bears defense came out and played pretty well. Caleb Williams was able to have a much better game in this one. Playing against the LA Rams defense. That isn't necessarily the most stingy Caleb 17-23, 157 at touchdown. He played closer to mistake-free football, even if it wasn't necessarily the most high-defying. He didn't really play like a guy that was the first overall pick. That's like the very talented guy. But he managed the game well, got them a win. It was definitely the more important thing for them to do. Matthew Stafford he just hurt back. He just as much as he's managing back there getting beat up with his offensive line not playing all that well against his Bears defense. He stayed back there, did as much as he could. Kyron Williams made a lot of plays. Kyron Williams 19 carries, 94 yards and a touchdown. All of his receivers hurt. I just feel like this LA Rams team will be better off later in the season when they have their guys back. But the Bears are able to take advantage of that and get the win here.

Speaker 2:

Next game Packers-Vikings. Vikings win the game 31-29. Vikings continue to be undefeated. Packers get Jordan Love back for this game, but you can tell there was some rust. He was missing a few passes here or there that you thought he would easily make. But even with that being the case, jordan Love still went 32 of 54, 389 yards and four touchdowns. So he still had a very. I think they did most of their damage in the fourth quarter to really make the game a lot closer than what it was throughout the first three. But the Vikings just kind of felt like they got all their points in the first half and they kind of let off the gas, thinking that they kind of had it in the bag and their defense just wasn't able to kind of keep the ball rolling to keep the Packers from doing what they wanted to do. This Vikings team might be a problem, sam Darnold, as much as we think Sam Darnold might rear his ugly head at some point.

Speaker 2:

I think this Minnesota Vikings team is so good it won't matter, because I think with everybody around him they have Aaron Joseph running back who's still playing very well. He had 22 carries for 93 yards, on top of another 46 yards, receiving off four receptions.

Speaker 2:

But, they have Justin Jefferson, who's amazing. They have Jordan Addison. They got him back for this game and it's just crazy when you think about how good Justin Jefferson is. He's getting all the attention in the world from a defense. And then Jordan Addison is a very talented guy too that you have to worry about now. They have a bunch of talent. Theirison is a very talented guy too that you have to worry about now. They have a bunch of talent. Their defense is still very good, even though they didn't necessarily hold up in the second half as well. But again, the screenbabe hackers team is a good offense like they have really good offense, especially when jordan love kind of got back into the rhythm of it, he was able to play a little better ball he was yeah.

Speaker 2:

so like this they have this minnesota vikings team is kind of like the Niners of 2024, because the Niners aren't the Niners right now because they're missing so many of their pieces of their offense. But like this Minnesota team might take over that thing and like, think about it this way it's Minnesota team in the Lions, looking like two of the best teams in the NFC, and those games are going to be absolutely epic when they happen.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they will be.

Speaker 2:

I agree, and I think this Packers team. There's nothing going like the fact they got Jordan Love so quick and the fact that he's back now. He'll only get better and better as he kind of gets more adjusted back into playing football again, coming off the injury. This Packers team is very good too, even though their defense isn't this. Obviously their defense got torched in this game. But offensively the Packers are good enough. They should be able to hold on to a lot of games that they play and they're going to win plenty.

Speaker 2:

Let's go on to the next game here Steelers-Colts. Steelers have an absolutely terrible first half. Colts go up 17-0 within a blink of an eye. It felt like they were up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, scored another three very early on in the set. In the second, steelers managed to get a three, get three points at the very end of the second half I mean end of the first half to kind of make it 17 to three second half. I was like we're just going to get stomped out in this game and it's going to be is what it is. But in the second half half the Steelers defense started to get back into it. They were able to. Um, not only this is what made a little bit harder issues because, um, richardson kind of went out and I think in that first quarter yeah, it was the first quarter with an injury it was a hip injury or something like that and they had to bring in Joe Flacco Joe Flucco, but again I have to call him Flacco.

Speaker 2:

He beat us in this game.

Speaker 1:

You have now lost to Joe Flacco on both Ravens teams. Yeah, I know.

Speaker 2:

Joe Flacco, ever since Big Ben left, has been our kryptonite. He beats us every time. He has played us, no matter what team he's been on Either the Browns or now the Colts, I think it went and the Ravens. Was it the Ravens? And the? Was it the Ravens? Well, no, he wasn't with the Ravens since Big Ben got retired he was gone.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he has a chip, bro. Fine, what you call him Joe Flucco, say his name, right, joe?

Speaker 2:

Flacco he's your dad for today. Yes, for this week.

Speaker 2:

Yes, because he beat us attaboy but here's, this is what made it an issue, I think, when he, once he got into the game. I think the steelers got used to it throughout the week of practice. They're getting ready to play against anthony richardson and then when he gets hurt and you have to go to a guy like joe flacco, a guy that knows how to avoid sacks, he's going to get the ball out quick. He knows how to run the offense and he's. He has a freaking still has a rocket of an arm. He's able to put the ball wherever he wants to. I think it's a little bit different of a scenario when you have to face such drastic types of quarterbacks in the same game. And Joe Flacco took advantage of it. He went out there, did everything he had to do. They scored the 10 points in the fourth quarter to keep themselves in the game and to stay up. But the Steelers, to give them some credit. Even though I may feel worse about the team, I feel better about Fields. Yes, did Fields have a fumble early on in the second half? That was like crazy that he even dropped it. It was a very bad play. Yes, but I think, other than that, he put the team on his back that day because the defense wasn't doing anything for three quarters before they kind of got their act together. They weren't able to stop a nosebleed that game.

Speaker 2:

Colts were able to run the football effectively. Joe Flacco was getting a lot. They were able to get a lot of third downs. Again, they were helped a little bit by the officials giving away some terrible calls, especially that one on Minka. It was a very unfortunate circumstance, but Minka had no, he didn't even hit him low or anything, they just ran into each other. After it was a bad ball thrown and Minka couldn't stop himself. And that is what it is. He even wasn't even helmet to helmet contact and that ended up extending one of the drives that Packers had in the second half to in order for them to get a touchdown or get some points. I forget what, exactly what they got on that, but they were able to extend, extend the drive and get points out of it. Because of that, that potentially, potentially was the game for the Steelers. But Fields played great Fields 22 of 34, 312 yards and a touchdown. Fields also had another 50 yards rushing and another two touchdowns rushing.

Speaker 2:

Like Fields did everything he could to win this game and at the end of the game the Steelers had a shot to take the ball down the field, hit a field goal to tie or touchdown to win. There was a botched snap where they were in the shotgun. Ball was snapped too early and Fields was ready for it. Hits him in the helmet. They go back. It was like second and 22. Actually I made it third and 22, and they couldn't get the first down in order to get back into the flow of the game, to keep the ball and try to go down the field.

Speaker 2:

Fields blamed it on himself because he gave the leg kick and the ball was coming and then he kind of saw something on defense. He got distracted and the ball hit him in the face mask. He took it. Whether that's true or not, I'm not sure, but I'm glad he took took blame for it Again. Sometimes you have to if you're going to get me the guy to get all the credit if you guys lose as well. So I'm glad he was able to do that.

Speaker 2:

But he put the team on his back. He played well, not to mention George Pickens. I can't go through this whole podcast without saying that George Pickens had a great game. But when you get the ball in the red zone with the five yards after Fields hit you with a nice pass and you're holding it like a Nerf football trying to make a play and they knock it out of your hand and it's a turnover. Those are seven points we didn't have because he was holding the ball like that and I. This keeps happening way too often where pickens making little mistakes here or there, that mess with the team, and this was the difference between winning and losing. And, yes, what is it the the big difference? I don't think so, but it was points that the stealers don't have because pickens made that mistake and if pickens can get his act together, he he's already a very good receiver. I don't think so, but it was points that the Steelers don't have because Pickens made that mistake and if Pickens could get his act together, he's already a very good receiver.

Speaker 1:

If he got his act together, he'd be even better you know what would have been better than Pickens. I'm not doing this. What would have?

Speaker 2:

been better than Pickens Javante.

Speaker 1:

Nothing. Brandon Ayuk. You couldn't give up Pickens for Brandon Ayuk. Do you regret that trade now? No, you're a dumbass.

Speaker 2:

We need more weapons, not less.

Speaker 1:

You need a better weapon, not that.

Speaker 2:

No, one weapon is not going to help us. That's our problem with our offense now you watch Brandon Ayuk hold the ball.

Speaker 1:

Look at our football and run like that and get the ball punched out for a turnover.

Speaker 2:

I'm not saying he can do anything because he sucked this year, because he didn't get a camp True but if he would have been traded, he would have been camp. Maybe Again stick.

Speaker 1:

Whatever you want to say, bro, you made a shitty decision. It's a bust. Can you nuts? Shitty decision.

Speaker 2:

Why you got to do that to me.

Speaker 2:

Because I won this league, I can do whatever the fuck but yeah, I just think that was an issue we would run. The cordell patterson as a running back for us was well, he was gashing before he ended up getting hurt. He was like, honestly, our only spot for a running game. That was good. Um, I hope we can get him back at some point very soon. Um, but who knows about that? Our offensive line took another hit. We lost a guard. Like we've had three season ending injuries on our offensive line. So it's something we're definitely have to put back together if we want to like do the things we want to do this season. But you know things are again.

Speaker 2:

If you would have told me before the season started we were going to start the season three and one, I would have taken it. But go like remembering back on this game. It sucks. We didn't win because we had an opportunity. We could be four and oh, right now, we could be 4-0 right now, but we didn't win. So it's disappointing, but it's not the end of the world and I'm feeling more confident about Justin Fields because of it. So I will take this as a slight dub, even though it's the massive L with no win on our schedule, but I do think it just makes me even more confident about Fields and what he can do. And honestly this is one last thing on the coaching staff it took them too long to let Justin Fields open up the offense and really give it to him. It almost felt like they were running the ball first down every time, even though we were getting no push up front. Why would you keep doing the same thing over and over again if it's not working?

Speaker 1:

It's the definition of insanity man.

Speaker 2:

Exactly when they finally let Justin Fields kind of run the game and they kind of let him open up the offense a little bit for him. He made plays and he was able to get you down the field. He kept you on schedule. Other than that one fumble that he had, he played the game pretty clean and he was honestly the only guy in this game that put the team on his back in order to win this game. So he's already been named the starter again for this week because Tom was going to keep playing this mind game. When it's a week-by-week thing, he's going to play, he's going to be the starter again this week.

Speaker 1:

Why does it need to be a week-by-week thing? Can't we just be like, yeah, he's the starter for the year?

Speaker 2:

Because you know what's going to happen. Because Russell Wilson is a baby, because as soon as Justin Fields has said he's going to be the starter, what Russell Wilson is going to do is put his feelers out through his people and they're going to put the PR machine on, turn on the PR machine and they're going to say he wants to be traded to a team so he can play. That's what's going to happen. But as long as Tomlin keeps playing this game like Russell Wilson will be able to play at some point, it'll keep him under wraps enough to keep him wanting to make a big deal of this whole thing. Because here's the thing you don't want to trade him because guess what, if something happens to Fields, you have a very good backup for $1.8 million.

Speaker 2:

That's a perfect scenario for the Steelers right now. So they don't want to trade him. But I think Tomlin has to keep playing this whole shenanigan, this whole charade, in order to keep Russell Wilson from making a big stink. And it is what it is. But I think Fields, every week, is playing well and he's getting better and better and he's showing why he should be the starter, not only for this season but long term. Broncos beat the Jets 10-9.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely awful game. This game was trash. This was one of the worst games I've probably ever watched.

Speaker 2:

It was in the middle of a monsoon. I'll give him that much credit. But again, if you have Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback and the Jets defense comes like if they have a little piece of paper that tells them what the future is going to be, and the defense gives Aaron Rodgers that paper and says, hey, we're going to hold this team to 10 points today, rodgers will be like, okay, I should be able to handle it and get us more than 10 points. He wasn't able to. He looked like an old man out there. He wasn't able to run away from any type of duress when he was in the pocket. Like he looked old out there and he wasn't passing all that well.

Speaker 2:

To be honest, garrett Wilson and Brees Hall look worse this year with Aaron Rodgers in the center. They looked better with freaking Zach Wilson last year. I just think with Aaron Rodgers, the way he wants to play football, he wants to play like it's the mid-2000s and he wants to play big thing football and like, do, like, do the cadence stuff, and he doesn't want to do any motions. He does. He's not. He doesn't want to run a, a diverse offense. That which is what offenses do nowadays. I was. I can you know what's crazy? My offense is more diverse than the jets offense, led by one of the best quarterbacks to ever play football.

Speaker 1:

Agreed.

Speaker 2:

And that's insane to think the Jets run a very fucking.

Speaker 1:

It's a bad offense, bland. It is not a good offense they don't do anything.

Speaker 2:

They just line up and let Aaron Rodgers go, try to read the defense and try to make the best play out of it. That's not modern offense.

Speaker 1:

They give the. That's the fucking Joe Burrow offense. That's the Jay Herbert offense. That's the offenses of motherfuckers who can't call plays. That is those offenses.

Speaker 2:

I just think movements and stuff make your job easier.

Speaker 1:

And I just think the fact that you— Quarterback-centric offense, where you just throw them out there, dude, don't work all the time it makes it easier for the defense to know what you're doing. Yes, everyone says oh, patrick Mahomes does that? No, the fuck, he doesn't.

Speaker 2:

Andy Reid is a fucking fanatic. Oh, he's a wizard dude At scheming motherfuckers open. Yes.

Speaker 1:

They're about to go out there with fucking. Xavier Worthy, what's left of Travis Kelsey and whatever the other tight end name is. I think his last name is Guy or Gay Gray Gray.

Speaker 2:

Noah.

Speaker 1:

Gray With Noah Gray and they're about to fucking figure it the fuck out. Yeah, and they're about to look like a fucking Super Bowl offense. Right, because that's what happens when you scheme an offense it makes it easier on the quarterback. Now the Jets don't scheme an offense. The Chargers are just now learning how to scheme an offense. They haven't schemed an offense in four years.

Speaker 2:

That's true, they're getting better. At least they're trying.

Speaker 1:

And the fucking Bengals can't see him in offense.

Speaker 2:

You know, what's funny is that when Aaron Rodgers was in the Green Bay with their coach they have now that was an issue. He wanted to do more movements and he wanted to do more stuff like that and Aaron Rodgers didn't want to, and that was an issue before Aaron Rodgers left there. So Aaron Rodgers wants to play the way he wants to play, but it makes it harder on everybody. If Aaron Rodgers is not going to be a hundred percent, guess what? He's 40 years old, coming off an Achilles. He's not a hundred percent of what Aaron Rodgers used to be. So if he can't now extend plays and like, do things outside of the offense, which is what he was his best, that you're not going to get the best of what he is and you're not going to get the best of what the offense can be. And he guess what.

Speaker 2:

The offensive coordinator is only there because Aaron Rodgers wants to be there. So it's not like there's anybody that's going to be there and heck, the coach doesn't have any power either. There's nobody on that team other than the owner that can go up to Aaron Rodgers and really make him do anything and guess what? The owner won't do that either, because this is their best shot at being relevant in years. So Aaron Rodgers is the most powerful guy in that building. So now, with this very inefficient offense, to where their best offensive players look terrible, guess what they want to do? They want to go after and get Devontae Adams. Another offensive piece, yes, but I think that doesn't help. It's another talented piece, but if Aaron Rodgers isn't Aaron Rodgers, it won't matter.

Speaker 1:

It doesn't help your system. Your system is just bland and awful and I'm just like all that I'll do is add another fucking decoy for you guys to not use right like you barely used Garrett Wilson this past week.

Speaker 1:

You didn't use Breeze Hall this last week, so I don't know what the fuck you guys are doing and I just and with an offense that talented coming from the fucking Bengals perspective, we, we, with an offense that talented coming from the fucking Bengals' perspective we run shit plays. The plays we run are ass. They are not good plays. No one should run those plays. They're better than last year, but I feel like we're back to fucking 2021. Where did Joe Burrow go out there and fucking sling the football around? And I'm going to be honest with you, it works better than whatever the fuck Zach Taylor's doing.

Speaker 1:

But it could be easier. It could be easier if we had an offensive line. Like hey, let's make this a scheme. Let's simplify this. Fucking Sean McVay's out there with who the fuck knows what.

Speaker 2:

With nobody. It's Matthew Stafford and Kyron Williams. He has.

Speaker 1:

Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell fucking running plays and they're doing okay. They're doing okay, they're not doing great. But again he's running with Matt Stafford, kyron Williams and random niggas and they're making it work. I legitimately did not know Demarcus Robinson was still playing.

Speaker 2:

I had no fucking idea.

Speaker 1:

They're able to stay in football games even though they don't have the talent they usually do. I think the Bengals have noticed that. I think teams that are like that, the Chargers, noticed that and they're like, oh, fuck this, let's go do something else.

Speaker 2:

The Steelers are doing it now. That's crazy.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and I think the Bengals made that notice of hey, because Zach Taylor tried to play down that conversation with Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2:

but it's a problem.

Speaker 1:

Joe Burrow brought that motherfucker in there and tore him a fucking new one. That's what happened.

Speaker 2:

So you want to jump into that game real quick.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 2:

Bengals Panthers Bengals won the game 34-24. But it wasn't pretty. The offense was pretty, Defense was not pretty.

Speaker 1:

I can't say the defense wasn't pretty. I can say the defense wasn't. Cam Taylor-Britz is going to do what he does. He's very, very good at what he does. He's a very good DB. Logan Wilson does what he does. Jermaine Pratt does what he does.

Speaker 2:

Linebackers do what? They do Now, we can't get to a 37-year-old, andy Dalton. He's 34.

Speaker 1:

He was wheeling and dealing out there my boy. And again, that whole team is probably a little more revitalized because, like, oh shit, somebody's stolen the football, so you know. But again, where? Why are we running four safeties? Why are three of them strong safeties? Why do we only have one free safety? Oh, because the other one's trying to play DB. Oh, he can't play DB and I watched him get burned by Xavier Leguette, who is not fast, he is a big receiver.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's more of a big guy, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And he's just fucking beating him on routes. If he bites to another, fucking go route again.

Speaker 2:

I will kill him One more double move, it's over.

Speaker 1:

Xavier Leguette don't run good routes. He look clunky out there running routes. He bites Trey Hendrickson. Can't get to the fucking nobody because there's no one else. On the other side of me, I am by myself. It is me versus me right now. He was fighting for his life out there. They are fucking double teaming him. They're having the running back come over to get him. He got into the backfield once just for Chuber Hubbard to fucking shot block his ass.

Speaker 2:

So it is in-fucking-possible for him to be doing anything. Can't blame him. He's trying and Lou Anaromo's over there pissed.

Speaker 1:

It's not like he's not trying his hardest. He's over there, fucking irate, yeah, because the reason they won't put DJ Turner on the field is because he plays slot corner. You can't put him over there at two. He's not big enough, it's like 5'10". He's 5'10", 5'9". He's really fucking fast, yeah, and he's really athletic. So he's not big enough to go over there. We can't throw him on Xavier Leggett. It's not possible, right. It is not fucking possible.

Speaker 2:

Legette, it's not possible, right, it is not fucking possible. And you have to keep Cam Taylor Britt on Deontay Johnson, even though Deontay Johnson still ate. He still did very well in this game. He did, but again, but again.

Speaker 1:

It would have been worse if you didn't have him on him and when he legitimately had no safety help Anytime. Von Bell came down for a fucking tackle on Xavier Legette and missed and I watched this motherfucker get another 15 yards. Vaughn Bell missed five tackles this game this was not a game.

Speaker 1:

That should have been this close, not the same. He once was, no. And then fucking Geno Stone. I don't know who the fuck that is, but that motherfucker is not a free safety. He is 230 pounds. You, a fucking linebacker up there At this point, bro. Throw Logan Wilson's ass up there. At least this motherfucker played free safety.

Speaker 1:

At least we can look at him and be like, hey, you played your entire career as a free safety and then we moved you to linebacker and it fucking worked out pretty well. Go back and go play free safety, see if that shit works out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, not so much with all those defensive line injuries that you guys have. It showed because Carolina was able to run the ball for 155 yards. Yeah, we have.

Speaker 1:

Murphys coming back, who I have not seen him play. I have never seen Miles Murphy play.

Speaker 2:

You need a body, you just need something. I've never seen him play Apparently he's stupid athletic. I remember that from when he was at Clemson he was a very athletic player for sure, I agree.

Speaker 1:

Okay, he's a defensive end, so it fills in for Sam Hubbard. I really miss Sam Hubbard. I forgot how many pressures he did. He was a great run stopper and he could get to the quarterback. I really fucking miss him right now. I've never not had him. He only ever got like nine to ten sacks. His best year was like 13. But he was a constant force, he was there, he was there. We've paid you three contracts for a reason because you're relatively cheap and you do your job pretty well yeah, and who doesn't like sam hubbard?

Speaker 1:

he's a fucking great guy, he's awesome, he is uh. So it's just been. Um, I, we need to figure out who we're gonna play at safety. Uh, I understand, jordan battle can't cover but he can run stop, and we can't run stop.

Speaker 1:

So I'm be honest, you, if you just want to take battle and fucking stuff the box with him every time and let Jermaine Pratt and Logan Wilson go cover, because that's what they do. They're both covering linebackers and in this day and age of the NFL, that's uncommon. And they work, though they fucking work. Tight ends do not get many yards that is a fucking constant thing. But Titans do not get many yards that is a fucking constant thing. But Logan Wilson ain't a run stopper. So it's just we need more run stopping, and then we need I want to make the playoffs, I would like to make the playoffs, but a top 15 pick Don't sound bad either.

Speaker 2:

Don't do this early on in the season Truly.

Speaker 1:

I truly do want to make the playoffs.

Speaker 2:

I really do. You're sounding like me from last year. I really, really, really really do.

Speaker 1:

Now, mims, real quick on offense, mims he has been very fucking good he has looked good.

Speaker 2:

I forgot to tell you that the other day.

Speaker 1:

He has looked good. He has looked good.

Speaker 2:

No, he still looks uncoordinated as shit.

Speaker 1:

I will not deny that fact. But for a dude that was not supposed to play, you were supposed to sit your ass out and Trent Brown just went goodbye.

Speaker 2:

No thanks.

Speaker 1:

Goodbye. Legitimately he is blocking and his knees just Like they both disappeared Knees is false. He has looked very good. He's looked good. I'm very proud of you.

Speaker 2:

And Orlando Brown just, and they have kept.

Speaker 1:

They have protected him relatively well, joe Burrow was not sacked this week, but again, it was, it was. They gave away all their good defensive linemen, but again have you ever seen Joe Burrow upright for an entire game?

Speaker 2:

No, Neither have I game, no, neither have I no now. And he played well he did because of it. Uh, memes, look good chase brown looked pretty good too they ran the football well they went. They had a total of 141 yards rushing in this game. Brown had 80 yards off 15 carries and two touchdowns.

Speaker 1:

Zach moss had another 51 yards yes, and then 15 carries jamar chase and t higgins both started to look like jamar chase and t higgins chase had three receptions, 85 yards and a Tee Higgins.

Speaker 2:

Both started to look like Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Chase had three receptions, 85 yards and a touchdown. Tee Higgins had six receptions, 60 yards. No touchdown, though. And then Zach Moss had a touchdown with office 27 yards receiving.

Speaker 1:

They're both starting to look better.

Speaker 2:

They're both starting to get back in the swing of it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I just think on offense we look better On defense. I don't know how I can see all the defensive pieces, because they fucking put DJ Turner in and he proceeds to get like two deflections and then they take his ass back out, because then they throw fucking Jonathan Mingo back in and that motherfucker is about to run a straight fucking post. He's bigger, he is like 6'4 and he runs a feast fast as shit, yeah, but it's just your offense is starting to look like in the.

Speaker 2:

But it's just your offense is starting to look like the way it's supposed to, especially over the last two games, and your defense is amazing Is your defense, even though you got the win in this one?

Speaker 1:

your defense isn't holding up. There under the margins I can see the pieces we have, like five of the 11 pieces we need and if we could just get the like, if we got one fucking safety. I am still very angry. We don't have Jesse Bates. I still don't understand that.

Speaker 2:

He's playing awesome for the Falcons right now and he was playing awesome for the Bengals.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what the fuck did we get? Why did we let him go? Didn't want to pay the man, Okay cool. So I need everybody to look around this room and look at the niggas we have at safety that we did pay. We went cheap at safety Cheapo. It's not working. We tried to draft a safety to replace Jesse Bates. It's not working. He's not working.

Speaker 2:

At corner. It's not looking all that great right now either. He was drafted in 2021. You're right.

Speaker 1:

This is coming up this year. Yeah, it'd be this year.

Speaker 2:

Is this last year the contract Next year? It'd be his last year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he was drafted the year after. Okay, next year do not re-sign him, let him go. Cam Taylor Britt has been re-signed. Right, that's a good signing.

Speaker 2:

Yes, that's a great signing.

Speaker 1:

Yes, keep it, dj Turner. Mike Hilton's old, mike Hilton's very good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, make him a slot corner. He's not a good enough tackler, though that's the only problem. Dj Turner's not much of a tackler. He's not. He plays very well at slot. It's just against a big receiver. He's just going to be Agreed.

Speaker 1:

but it's rare, it's rare there's a bigger receiver in the slot.

Speaker 2:

True, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And when there is him and Cam Taylor-Britt again. But that's how Lou and Aruba can make that fucking play call. He did it with fucking Eli Apple and Mike Hilton. True, when Eli Apple was a bigger DB, so he would just swap them.

Speaker 2:

He knows how to do that.

Speaker 1:

It's just we're not giving him the defense to do that with True. Let DJ Turner play. I understand he can't tackle with a fucking damn. He is 6'1 a tackle. He is six foot, like 175. He will be pushed off, yeah. But I can tell you this he can see the quarterback and he can put good play on the ball.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Let him do that Everybody else at Michigan was cheating, so was he, but he still had to be athletic to make the play. To cheat, yeah, that's not wrong. The ball may have been thrown his way and he knew it was coming, but he still had to make the play, so he may have been cheating you gotta be there.

Speaker 2:

You gotta be there to make the play.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, now Dax Hill's trash, ass.

Speaker 2:

Oh, he's so bad, that was a mistake so bad he was cheating and garbage. He doesn't work at safety, he doesn't work at corner, where the fuck, do you work? At. He doesn't work at the slot.

Speaker 1:

Dude I. There is no way a DB that runs a. He went a 4-3-4. How do you? Suck, he sucks so bad, especially as a safety so bad. Every DB that transitioned to safety was like oh, this shit's easy, dude, how do you suck at both? I don't know. Man, you are easily one of the fastest defensive players I've ever seen in my life and you fucking suck, yeah, like genuinely he's not good. You don't bite fucking. Who the fuck bites to every double move, dude every double movie bites, every time every time, and then von bell, let's just, he's just older, he's just older.

Speaker 1:

Keep teaching jordan battle. I've watched jordan battle in practice. He looks very good. Yeah, um, he looks like he knows how to cover. He's just keep teaching Jordan Battle. I've watched Jordan Battle in practice. He looks very good. He looks like he knows how to cover. He's just not fast. It's an issue. Well, you said that's wild, because I watched.

Speaker 1:

Gusecki. Just, they were posing close to practice and I watched Gusecki catch a ball on his ass and Jordan Battle's there with him and Jordan Battle's got to reach it. And Gusecki just legs, catch a ball in his ass and Jordan Battle's there with him, yeah, and Jordan Battle's going to reach his Because he just legs it out. And Battle's just he's not a fast guy, but again, he's a strong safety. Yeah, he can cover you. Just, you know, have this free safety.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, for sure, yeah, exactly, you don't have the fucking free safety, which is why. I'm okay with being a top Now safeties ain't really like a draft high position. No, it's not, but we drafted Jesse Bates at 10. True, I don't know if you noticed that fucking worked out pretty well, but again, let's stop drafting offense for a little bit guys, we keep drafting offensive players.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 1:

We now have like 85 receivers. We can't play them all. They're all very good, they're all very good, they are all very good.

Speaker 2:

You end up letting them walk anyway. What is the point Exactly? We can't.

Speaker 1:

I understand the idea. You draft T Higgins oh, he's really fucking good, 1,000 yards. You draft Jamar Chase oh yeah. You draft another receiver and you draft another receiver. Now, all of them have touchdowns. It's been four games. How the fuck do they all have touchdowns? Every single receiver in my fucking roster has a touchdown. Pick three of them niggas, to throw the ball to. Yeah, what the fuck are we doing? I understand that you have a different receiver out there on every fucking play, so no one's tired or hurt. But Joe Burrow's like who the fuck is that? He's out there looking like who the fuck wears 17? And he's just like. I guess he's open. Like what the fuck, dude, I don't know. Man, that's all I got for my team.

Speaker 2:

I'm glad that you can fight. You're 1-3, but your offense is playing well, your defense has it, you're going to get some guys back, it's going to get a little bit better.

Speaker 1:

I know, I just think we're getting two guys back this week.

Speaker 2:

I'm just not sure how much better it's going to get.

Speaker 1:

How much better it's going to get. Murphy hasn't really. Last year was his rookie year. Yeah, he played two fucking snaps, but that's how good our defensive line was last year. Bj Hill will be back like week six. He's who we're really missing, because we really fucking need a DT right now.

Speaker 2:

And you're getting gashed right now, so maybe Miles Murphy.

Speaker 1:

Miles Murphy's athleticism will let us be able to move him around the defensive line. Kind of use him like a Miles Garrett, because he's Miles Garrett's size and he's Miles Garrett athletic. He's just not miles garrett yeah, he may be miles garrett.

Speaker 1:

I've never seen him play, probably not. He's not again. Uh, never really seen him play, so I can't tell you what the man is. Um, yeah, so we're getting miles murphy back and, uh, mckinley-jackson are DT. They're both being moved from the IR. Okay, so they will be practicing this week. I cannot guarantee they'll be playing.

Speaker 2:

But if not this week, they should be back Definitely for next week.

Speaker 1:

Oh, BJ Hill was out there practicing.

Speaker 2:

Okay, good, so you're getting some guys back, so it should get better.

Speaker 1:

Practicing, but no one's saying that he's going to be back.

Speaker 2:

But he is. But it's on the horizon.

Speaker 1:

It's coming Practicing Probably not this week, but next week.

Speaker 2:

Again, you don't have to be the best defense in the league. You just have to be okay and your offense is going to be enough to win you a lot of games, as long as your defense can get a few stops, we don't need to meet up.

Speaker 1:

Okay, just fucking throw the ball further.

Speaker 2:

Just get a few stops. It's all you need.

Speaker 1:

Fuck the stops bro, every game can come down to a shootout, that's fine. Just don't make the stupid fucking decision to put Dax and Hill on the receivers that you need to not catch the ball.

Speaker 2:

True, that's not wrong, not wrong.

Speaker 1:

And next time, demarche. Stop bitching to the ref when we're about to win.

Speaker 2:

You're going to hold that over him all season? Nigga, we should have beat the Chiefs. You're going to hold that over him all season, Because that affects standings. If we beat the Chiefs, what are they? 4-0? Yeah, the Chiefs are undefeated.

Speaker 1:

Dude, this should be 3-1. We should be 2-2. Yeah, washington, no one's been able to stop Jayden Daniels, so I can't really hold that on oh we'll get to him. They are a problem.

Speaker 2:

Exactly. No one's been able to stop him.

Speaker 1:

He's blown every fucking rookie out the water and the Bears are looking at it like fuck.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We fucked up and DJ Moore is probably like fuck I want to, because what he's best at is downfield and they don't throw it downfield because that Caleb's struggling, caleb's struggling, all right.

Speaker 2:

Next game Buccaneers destroy the Eagles. It's not looking good for the Eagles.

Speaker 1:

I trust that boy, baker, bro Baker went 30. Don't believe in me that believes in Baker.

Speaker 2:

Baker 30 to 47, 347 yards, two touchdowns.

Speaker 1:

Mike Evans eight receptions, 94 yards and a touchdown oh, jamar Chase is one of four players who has reached 4,000 yards in his career over the first four years. Dang Wild, just so everybody knows. Before he reached 50 games this next week. This is his 50th game. So in 49 games he reached 4,000 yards.

Speaker 2:

Crazy, crazy good. Yep. Jalen Hurts another bad game 18 of 30, one touchdown, no picks. He is fucking trapped like he's missing both of his wide receivers. Both aj brown and devontae smith were both out of this game, so obviously that is that a show why they're having an issue dallas, goddard and saquon barkley. That's it. That's that's. That's the most of it.

Speaker 1:

Saquon probably feels like he's back in new york, probably right now, but once they get those in phon.

Speaker 2:

probably feels like he's back in New York Probably right now, but once they get those guys In Philadelphia.

Speaker 1:

at least he's closer to New York than he was in Jersey.

Speaker 2:

Once they get those guys back, it should definitely help them. But I just think that this team is disjointed as crap. Their defense is still not all that good in the secondary. Their front seven's okay, but their secondary is still Swiss cheese. And then, offensively, jalen Hurts and their head coach, nick Sirianni, are not on the same page whatsoever. You can tell they don't like each other. It's a problem.

Speaker 2:

Their coach may not last this whole season. They may end up starting to call Bill Belichick week four, week five, week six. Be like hey, dude, do you want to come coach us now? Because I'm like that coach doesn't do anything Like he doesn't do anything Like he doesn't do offense, he doesn't do defense and your team don't like you. Then what are you there for? I just don't get why he's even there. You know it's a thing that he's apparently not allowed to touch the offense. He was an offensive guy before he got there, but he's only ruined the offense. So they got in Kellen Moore to be their offensive coordinator. But they've told Nick Sirianni you can't touch either side of the ball during the week, so he leaves it to the coordinators during the week and then when you're on game day, your team doesn't like you. He's not doing nothing, so it's going to get very easy to get rid of him if this team gets worse and worse but it's just not looking good what?

Speaker 2:

do, you do.

Speaker 1:

If you don't call players, you don't write up players. If you don't call plays, you don't write up plays. What the fuck do you do?

Speaker 2:

Your team don't listen to you. They hate you. Your quarterback don't like you, he hates you. I'm just like he's losing any type of value in that building and it's just really bad. Buccaneers took control. They're 3-1. They're looking very good. They take advantage Heck, they have the Eagles number over the last few years. They just keep beating them. Texans, jags. This game was close for the first three quarters. Texans get the ball back with a few minutes left. With like six minutes left, they get the ball back to CJ Stroud and you know what happens. Cj Stroud is that boy. He takes the team down the field, gets the touchdown and then I think they left the Jags with like 30-something seconds left. Jags weren't able to do anything with it. Texans win the game 24-20. Cj to Nico. Insane combo, nico 12 receptions, 151 yards and a touchdown. They are just as long as they let CJ Shaw do his thing. They ran the football a little bit more effectively in this game.

Speaker 1:

They had over 100 yards rushing. He was drafted in the 2021 class. Who, nico?

Speaker 2:

Collins, yeah, but yeah, cj played well 27-40, 345 yards, two touchdowns, no picks. I already mentioned Nico Collins. Stephon Diggs had five receptions for 69 yards and he also had a rushing touchdown as well. So, and this Jaguars team is awful, their defense is bad. Trevor Lawrence isn't good.

Speaker 2:

Trevor Lawrence went 18 of 33 for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He's just not playing all that well. He doesn't look like he's in it. He's not fired up on the sideline, he's just he's not trying to will his team in any way to try to play better. Their defense is bad. They honestly don't have that many weapons that are, like, really effective. Brian Thomas Jr Is good. Christian Kirk isn't the same what he once was like. They are just missing. They just don't have a lot offensively and it's just. They're just not playing good football right now.

Speaker 2:

Jags are owned for. They're going to end up firing their coach before the season is over and they're going to try to call Bill Belichick to try to get him to coach them. Like. This team is absolutely awful. They just paid Trevor Lawrence a ton of money, so he's not going nowhere and I just don't know what they're going to do. Jace, I'll ask you a question who did you feel more confident with Jalen Hurts or Trevor Lawrence If you had to start a team today? Hurts Me too, me too, because you know what's funny. At least everybody loves Jalen Hurts, okay. Okay, you could tell he's going to do the work.

Speaker 1:

At least I can look at Jalen Hurts and be like you're just missing all your weapons and your coach don't call plays. I look at Lawrence, like what the fuck's wrong with you.

Speaker 2:

You have all the talent in the world and and it's not translating and you've been in the league for five years.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what the like this is totally, it's Lawrence.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yeah, yeah, he's on the fifth year. He's been paid.

Speaker 1:

He's the third highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 2:

Fourth so I'm just like, what is your issue? And you know what I can believe about Jalen Hurts? He has a chip on his shoulder to want to be better and, yes, is he a perfect quarterback.

Speaker 1:

No, no, but I think he's going to sit back like. This is not how I play football. I can play better than this.

Speaker 2:

I am better than these teams, and he's going to give his all and his team likes him and they believe in him. They don't believe in the coach, but they believe in him. And the same way I look at Trevor.

Speaker 1:

Lawrence like oh, click, it looks like he's looking for something else outside of football and I don't understand what you want, dude and if you were a guy that's a trevor lawrence guy that believes in him?

Speaker 2:

what do you believe of?

Speaker 1:

what do you see?

Speaker 2:

what in the nfl has he done to make you believe in him? I get it if you take out the, if you take, but the clemson stuff's awesome, take out the clemson stuff. What has he done in the nfl that makes you think he's not just another dude? Nothing, he's a nothing, he's a nothing in the NFL, just a guy. And it's insane because of how talented he is. It just sucks that he's nothing more than what he is right now. Commanders, like we mentioned, jalen Daniels is a problem, jaden Daniels.

Speaker 2:

He went 26-30, 233 yards and a touchdown passing. He added on another 47 yards and a touchdown passing. He added on another 47 yards and a touchdown rushing they. He is lights out right now. Dude, he kind of looks like CJ Stroud of last year. Their offense is playing perfectly. Their offense is like tailored perfectly for him. He's looking great there. He barely had a learning curve because of what he was doing at LSU and now what he's doing at Washington he's thrown to everybody on the field. Terry McLaurin's looking great.

Speaker 2:

They have a bunch of weapons. Their defense is not necessarily the best, but they were able to hold the Arizona Cardinals to only 14 points. Marvin Harrison got his five receptions, 45 yards and a touchdown, but honestly, they kept the Arizona Cardinals in check. Cardinals aren't necessarily all that great of a team. I thought they would be better. I thought they were going to be a sneaky good team this year. But again, outside of Kyler to Marvin Harris, they really don't have a lot of other weapons and it just seems like, defensively, that Cardinals team is just awful and they weren't able to stop a nosebleed that day, especially with Washington on the field. Washington just kind of took advantage of it. Jay and Daniels, they might make the playoffs. They might be the best team in the NFC East.

Speaker 1:

They're probably one of the best teams in the NFC.

Speaker 2:

They're 3-1. And again you played the Cardinals, who are the teams that they've played so far.

Speaker 1:

The Cardinals, the Bengals, the Ravens, the Bengals is a huge win.

Speaker 2:

But everybody else, they're all the Broncos. They lost to the Buccaneers, so they only lost to the Buccaneers week one, but they beat the Giants. They beat you guys, they beat the Giants, they beat you guys and they beat the Cardinals. So it's not like they beat a bunch of big players, but they beat you guys.

Speaker 1:

Those are all the teams.

Speaker 2:

I know what are we talking about the? What are we talking about the? Washington commanders might be the best team. Yes, broncos, of course. Yes, we talked about them already beating the jets. Sorry I said it, I was like that sounds fake. But yeah, jayden daniels is an absolute monster. Right now that team is humming, but the only problem is with that, with the office coordinator that they have in. What is his name?

Speaker 1:

He coached Kyler Kevin.

Speaker 2:

Kavansky Nope it's.

Speaker 1:

Carson, nope it's.

Speaker 2:

Brian.

Speaker 1:

Dawkins no Stewie Griffin.

Speaker 2:

Purple Kawhi McMahon.

Speaker 1:

Orange.

Speaker 2:

Offensive coordinator Black no.

Speaker 1:

Brown.

Speaker 2:

It's freaking. Cliff Kingsbury. I knew it started with K Cliff Kingsbury. He starts off the season hot and then, as people start understanding what they're doing offensively, they tend to cool down by the end of the season. So that's something to look out for. But Jan Daniels is on a freaking tear. He looks unstoppable. He's accurate as all hell. He throws a beautiful deep ball. He's very accurate. He's doing everything well right now. Every other quarterback should be jealous by what he's looking like right now. Every team that drafted a rookie quarterback should be jealous of what he's looking like right now, especially the Bears, with them taking Caleb Williams instead. I just think he's just insanely good right now.

Speaker 2:

Niners got back on track a bit, beating up on the Patriots 30-13. This game wasn't necessarily all that hard. Jordan Mason 24 carries, 123 yards on touchdown. Brock Purdy 15-27, 288 yards passing and a touchdown. Jennings played well. They got a few of their guys back. Debo Samuel's back. They got George Kittle back. So they're getting some of their big players back, even though Christian McCaffrey, they're saying, is going to be out till week eight, week nine, week 10, with potential with his injury. Apparently he has tendonitis in both of his legs. We're not going to go into that whole thing. You've already yelled at me plenty. I know I messed you up. I screwed you out of money. I owe you money. I question that part, but everything else I agree with.

Speaker 1:

I agree with the fact that you question me.

Speaker 2:

Look, it's a bad spot. It sucks. The Niners weren't honest about how bad this was.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to smash your head in with this fucking mic. They should have been honest about it, you, a bitch.

Speaker 2:

I hate you, but that's the biggest question about this Niners team If they can get their prize jewel back on this team.

Speaker 1:

Fuck you, I'm going to shove a jewel up your ass, but they're 2-2.

Speaker 2:

2-2. He's nuts. It's going to be a tough year for them, but I think they should still be able to make the playoffs. Can they get all their guys back playing healthy by the time they get to the playoffs? That is the big question for them. Um, because I do think they do have enough pieces to get through this regular season just fine. Um, it's just whether they can have everybody by the time the playoffs start is the big question for that Niners team. Um. Next game Browns Raiders. Raiders beat the Browns 6 20 to 16. Um. There was one controversial play with Deshaun Watson ended up negating a touchdown. But honestly, this game was absolutely gross. Raiders win.

Speaker 2:

I think the bigger story coming out of this game is the fact that Devontae Adams you know, did you hear about the story about how this whole thing played out their coach for the Raiders. He liked an Instagram post that stated that Devontae Adams has played his last down as a Raider. Yeah, he told me about this. So now Devontae Smith goes on a few radio shows, something like that, talking about some stuff, and they start asking about it and he's like I haven't talked to the team, haven't talked to the coach. All I can control is what I'm, what I can control. And then now the news has come out, pretty much yesterday and today, that he has asked for a trade, that he would prefer to get traded.

Speaker 2:

Um, the raiders are potentially open trading him. So it's not like they're not trying to. They're open. They're open to trying if they get the uh stuff, what they want. Apparently they want a second round pick and more. Apparently they want a second round pick and more. So they want a second round pick and more things. So they already kind of have what they're looking for. If you're going to get Devontae Adams for them and Jace, can you guess what teams when it comes to sources, what teams he prefers?

Speaker 1:

The Jets, uh-huh the Niners. Nope this one's more sad, but it makes sense when you really think the Jets.

Speaker 2:

Uh-huh, the Niners. Nope, this one's more sad, but it makes sense when you really think about it.

Speaker 1:

The Packers.

Speaker 2:

No, I'll give you one more guess.

Speaker 1:

Think the Expos.

Speaker 2:

Think old quarterback he's already played with before.

Speaker 1:

Derek Carter of the Saints.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, apparently his two preferred destinations with the Jets, who's playing terrible with Aaron Rodgers, and the Saints, who don't necessarily need him. The problem is with the Saints is that Devonta Adams does not fix the issues that they have.

Speaker 2:

They already have a very good offensive team. Their defense is pretty good. Sometimes they just get bottled up. Their offensive line is what their biggest issue is right now, because they have a bunch of injuries. Yes, Devonta Off the line is what their biggest issue is right now, because they have a bunch of injuries. Devontae Adams is a fix. Obviously he would supercharge what they already have, but they have receivers Olave and Rashid Shahid is playing great, so they don't necessarily need him. And the Jets? Obviously we've already talked about how bad they've been playing and Aaron Rodgers being old and not looking all that great. It sucks that. Those are the two teams he would prefer to go to and money-wise it's not necessarily that big of a deal because it's only going to be like $8 million on the books for this year that you have to have in cap space in order to get him. So me thinking, as a Steelers fan, there's a shot. He would have to be okay with it.

Speaker 1:

No, I don't want to talk about it. Let's continue on. I'm not just us. No, fuck off, fuck off. The Cowboys are also a potential liar yeah, yeah, type shit type shit, type shit, type shit, type shit type shit.

Speaker 2:

But apparently the Jets are the main guy. Everybody's thinking the Jets are going to be the ones to make it happen, but that's the biggest story coming out of it is the fact that somebody know how to put a team together and not like Instagram posts. That's insane. Chiefs Chargers. Chiefs win the game 17-10. They lose.

Speaker 1:

Rashid Jee, nope Ray Rice.

Speaker 2:

Nope, ray Rice, that's wild Jerry Rice. Nope, it's Rowan Ridley. That's wild, jerry Rice. Nope, it's Rowan Ridley. No, no, rasheed Rice. There it is. We're going to figure it out at some point. It's very rare that both me and you mess up names.

Speaker 1:

I'll be honest to you, I'm just kind of doing my thing right now.

Speaker 2:

Rasheed Rice. They lose him for the game.

Speaker 1:

I knew his last name said it was rice.

Speaker 2:

You said ray rice dude all I could think it was rice, and then I was like oh damn, rice sounds good uh, on a crazy play patch, when homes does a pick, he ends up trying to go after the guy he threw the pick to and then he ends up end up running blowing out his knee blowing out rashid rice's knee, but apparently they were saying that was going to be very bad and their future is going to be a torn acl.

Speaker 2:

Apparently it's not that bad and they're saying that he potentially only missed like half the season so he will be able to come back this season. As far as what everybody says along, there's no setbacks, but it is a weapon. They're going to be down for a little while when, honestly, all they have left is Xavier worthy. Freaking Travis Kelsey and everybody else. But freaking Travis Kelsey and everybody else. But that defense is still good for the Kansas City Chiefs. Oh, they still don't have Pacheco as their main running back, so that's going to be something that they're missing.

Speaker 1:

It's not in Kareem Hunt, though.

Speaker 2:

But Kareem Hunt was able to play in this game, played well 14 carries, 69 yards but Kareem Hunt isn't even close to the player that Pacheco is. But they were able to run the football effectively. They had over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown in this game. Mahomes literally this whole season. Every game feels like he's just clunky, making bad plays, throwing bad picks. But again, when you have that team around him, that defense is still very good. You have Andy Reed as the head coach, who's able to scheme things open and just make it a little bit easier on him. It just feels like they almost seem as inevitable as the Patriots when they were in their heyday, as if you can't put out the knockout punch on them. They're going to win the game because they just know how to. They know how to survive the storm and get come out of it. Just fine. You have to put them in the ground. They're not going to put themselves there. Even with the they, even if they have a few mistakes throughout the game, they're able to get themselves out of it. You have to put them in the ground and this Chargers team was not able to.

Speaker 2:

Herbert is still hobbled on the ankle. Herbert went 16 to 27, 179 yards and a touchdown, didn't play all that great. They weren't able to run the football. To date, jk Dobbins only had 32 rushing yards in this game. They only had a total of 55 total in this game and so they really weren't able to run the football whatsoever.

Speaker 2:

And they have a lack of weapons. Ladd McConkie is like their best receiver as of right now Quinton Johnston, as he started the season looking good, but he only had one catch for nine yards in this game, so like he can still have clunkers of a game that we've all grown to love of him. And it's just. They just they just have a lack of weapons right now that they definitely need. And then defensively they I think the big play when this game was freaking uh, my home was throwing a freaking bomb to Xavier worthy to kind of break out. This breakout, uh, in this game. And that was really the difference here, cause the game was pretty close otherwise. But again, it's just, if you can't put the Chiefs on the ground, they're not going to do it to themselves.

Speaker 2:

So you know that's for all the better teams in the AFC. That's what you're going to have to do, because this Chiefs team is not going to do it themselves. Speaking of the rest of the AFC, the two of the better teams in AFC, Ravens and the Bills, played each other on Sunday night. Ravens blew out the Bills 35-10. Derrick Henry was on an absolute tear. He had 24 carries, 199 yards, and he had a touchdown On top of that. He also had another receiving touchdown as well, with three receptions and 10 yards.

Speaker 2:

Lamar Jackson, also a big weapon in this game. Lamar had 13. He only had through the ball 18 times in this game 13 of 18 for 156 yards and two touchdowns. And then Lamar on top of that, through six carries, 54 yards and a touchdown rush rushing on top of that. So, like Baltimore really ran Buffalo out of their, out of the stadium, out of, uh, the Raven stadium. Um, justice Hill was the best receiver in this game Six receptions, 78 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Likely only had a catch. Rashad Bateman had a catch. Like this game was totally about Baltimore being able to run the football down Buffalo's throat. It does seem like that's. Like the biggest weakness of this Buffalo team is that you can really run the football on them, and that's exactly what the Ravens did. Can I ask you a question, Chase? Yeah, Zay Flowers was looking like their number one receiver last year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Has he looked like that at all this year?

Speaker 1:

No, he's looked kind of mid.

Speaker 2:

He's a gadget guy. Right, he has looked like a total gadget guy this year. They don't treat him like a number one guy. They don't throw to him like a number one receiver. So the same issues the Ravens have been having, everybody thought was solved in the middle last year because they were just force feeding him so much. But he's not that dude like. They still need a receiver. Apparently they're another team that potentially can go after Devontae Adams, but receivers don't like playing there because they don't have an offense that really puts the emphasis on receiving.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Hence why they don't have anybody. That's really all that good at the position. I agree, yeah, but again, if they're able to run the football this effectively on everybody, it's going to be very hard to beat them. I saw the second coming of. King Henry for like 100, almost 200 yards rushing, 8.3 a carry.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I got to play that nigga this week.

Speaker 2:

He had like a 70-yard scamper literally the first play of the game. He was a monster.

Speaker 1:

I got to play him this week and we can't stop the run. I'm fucked. Yeah, I'm fucked. It's going to be bad.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be bad Unless Derek Ernie is like sick or something.

Speaker 1:

Dax Hill chop, block that motherfucker, take his knees out. Serve your purpose. Get suspended. We don't need you.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, it's just like. It almost looks like they're like a perfect match for Buffalo, because not only can their offense do what they're doing, that's a great idea we have like goons, like in fucking hockey.

Speaker 1:

You just send the one dude out there who can fight and have him do nothing but beat the motherfuckers up. Yes, we better have Daxel do that. He's about to be suspended.

Speaker 2:

Three times this year. Have him take his lumps. We'll pay the fines. We'll pay the fines, bro.

Speaker 1:

It will still pay you for the year too. I need you to walk out there. You see that quarterback over there named Justin Fields. Make sure he don't have an ACL. No more Fucking, just end him.

Speaker 2:

I can't have Russell Wilson be my guy. Don't do that to me. Josh Allen didn't play all that great in this game 16-29, 180 yards, no touchdowns, no picks. He is fucking up and down their offense was just out of sorts in this game. They weren't able. I feel like the Bills offensively want to play like they're the Lions. Does that make sense? They?

Speaker 2:

want to run the football. They want to have balance. They don't necessarily want to sit there and keep drop pack passing. Khalil Shakir was like their leading receiver. Keon Coleman dropped a big pass in this game.

Speaker 1:

Trash nigga.

Speaker 2:

He had a really bad drop that would have potentially got them back into it, but it just felt like the Baltimore Ravens just jumped on the Bills early and the Bills weren't able to dig themselves out. Because I just don't think they're that offense anymore. I think Josh Allen is trying to play cleaner football, trying to play cleaner football, but it's just again, when you're playing against him like baltimore and they poured it on like that, there's just, it's a hole they weren't able to dig themselves out of and it's. I'm not going to say that bills are bad, but it's just. I feel like the ravens are a perfect match for how like that's their kryptonite. It feels like them and the chiefs, obviously, because they can't beat the chiefs or the bangles I'll give the bangles that credit too, so that I think the Ravens are a perfect match for them and I think those three teams are kind of like their kryptonite, but the Bills will look great against pretty much everybody else they play this season. Um, these are the last two games, the Monday night games. We'll talk about the first one.

Speaker 2:

It was awful, but the Titans and Dolphins. Titans destroyed the Dolphins 31 to 12. Tyler Huntley I thought he would end up playing better football. But he went 14 of 22 for 96 yards in this game. He overthrew Tyreek Hill on a deep ball twice. How do you overthrow Tyreek Hill? That's insane to me. I didn't think that was possible, but he made it possible.

Speaker 2:

In this game, will Levis threw a pick right out of the gate in the first drive that they had. Guess what. He ends up getting an injury on that same drive. And then Tennessee uses that as an excuse to get Mason Rudolph on the field and they never let Will Levis back on, even though Will Levis had his helmet on. Like coach, I'm ready to go in, coach, I'm ready to go. And they didn't let him back on the field. Mason Rudolph ended up coming into this game. He, mason Rudolph, ended up coming into this game. He engineered the win for the Tennessee Titans. Titans ran the ball well. Tony Pollard looked like old Tony Pollard again. He had 22 carries, 88 yards and a touchdown. They ran the ball well with Tajay Spears. He had a touchdown in this game 15 carries, 39 yards. They honestly didn't pass all that well. They only had 110 yards passing in this game. It really was. The Miami Dolph dolphins were so inept offensively that they just couldn't do anything. Tyler huntley played terrible. They weren't like they ran the football.

Speaker 1:

Okay, they had 160 yards total, but they weren't able to like stay consistent offensively it is weird to think um how terrible that team is without tua, yeah, who everybody thinks really isn't that good they.

Speaker 2:

that team is perfectly built for Tua, for Tua.

Speaker 1:

And it does not work with anybody else. It doesn't work with Skymore, it didn't work with Tyler Huntley, it has worked with no one else besides Tua Tungvalu. One thing Mike Evans is the third ever non-kicker to lead a franchise in points scored. He's among the greats. As in Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice, he is the third non-kicker.

Speaker 2:

He's a monster.

Speaker 1:

And there was one more piece of news, something with Levante David. I can't remember what it was, fuck.

Speaker 2:

Can you imagine a game where Jalen Waddell and Tyreek Hill have a total of less than 70 yards receiving in a game? I never thought that was possible until this game Like? This Dolphins team is totally inept. They are begging for Tua to come back, concussions or not, and I think Tua's only looking at his team play while he's sitting there on the sideline. It only encourages him more to play because he's looking at his own brothers struggling like they are and Tyreek Hill's freaking out on the sideline Again like people are saying he might want to get like oh, what if we trade him Like? This is like I think this Dolphins team is is breaking apart at the seams and I think they need to a back so bad to kind of make them right again.

Speaker 2:

But that's the part is that it puts to a back and risk again to getting injured Like he has been, and that's that's even scarier proposition. But you know, it is what it is. I just think they they need them to come back more than they could ever thought they ever that they thought they would have, and I think, even more than anybody else. And like the fandom thought is that nobody thought it would be this terrible without him, because of how potent that offense is supposedly, but apparently two is a much bigger cog than in that wheel than we ever thought was possible. Last but not least, this is the last monday night game lions seahawks. Lions beat the seahawks 42 to 29. Jared Goff went a perfect 18 and 18 for 18 in this game. Amamra St Brown went one for one in this game. Um, jared Goff had two touchdown passes. Amamra St Brown, in that one touchdown on that one pass he made, completed it to Jared Goff for a touchdown pass. Um, they ran the football effectively. Jameer Gibbs 14 carry, 78 yards, two touchdowns. David montgomery an absolute monster. Did you see that monster play that he had where they tried to tackle him and he like bounced right off him and he ends up taking it? Yes, for a huge gain, um, absolute monster in this game. David montgomery just really that's a perfect running back duo. Jamison williams two receptions, 80 yards and a touchdown. Sam Laporta four receptions, 53 yards.

Speaker 2:

It just shows when this Detroit Lions like I said on the last podcast, like I've been saying their defense is bad, detroit Lions' defense is awful. They kind of let Seattle back in the game after Detroit was destroying them in the first half. In the second half they kind of let the Seahawks stay in the game, even though of how potent that Detroit Lions team was. That defense is not good for the Lions, especially that secondary, not bueno. But when the Detroit Lions play with this type of balance, running the football, passing the football, like I said, jared Goff only attempted 18 passes, he got all 18, but he was perfect for the game when they play like this, they were a very hard team to stop offensively and they were able to protect their defense from being able to have to be on the field too long, and it makes this Detroit Lions team a very scary team to have to play.

Speaker 2:

Seahawks did the best they could though. Geno Smith 38-56, 395 yards, one touchdown, one pick. Kenneth Walker had a great game 12 carries, 80 yards, one touchdown, one pick. Kenneth Walker had a great game 12 carries, 80 yards, three touchdowns. Kenneth Walker was an absolute monster in this game. Dk Metcalf seven receptions, 104 yards.

Speaker 1:

He should have had a touchdown, didn't he fumble near the goal line, so he had a play where he was being like five or six guys trying to drag him down and someone just ran over and punched the ball out. He is on the goal line. I'm talking, he is dragging himself with one arm and one leg to the goal line.

Speaker 2:

And they just punched the ball out. I'm going to be honest.

Speaker 1:

If he scores that, it's a fucking highlight play. It's just he is holding it in one arm, he goes to reach and they just hit him and the ball comes out.

Speaker 2:

It's very unfortunate Is that play in the Geno fumble, that interception that Geno had. Those two plays could potentially be them winning the game rather than losing it because of how bad that Tewart Lions offense was. But they did the best they could. Geno Smith has been an absolute revelation. He's been for years now. He's a good player.

Speaker 2:

It's just I think I heard somebody say this it sucks that geno smith we've had to wait so long for geno to get his opportunity to be that guy, because when he's been with the seahawks he's played very good football. He's passed the football well, he's played very well. It just sucks that he didn't like most of his 20s. He was spent being a journeyman, not even playing, because he was a backup on the on a team like. Remember the like? They brought him in to take over for Eli and everybody thought it was so crazy that they did that. So they ended up benching Geno back on the benching Geno and trading him and then Eli got to play for another two years. So, like, all that being the case, it sucks that Geno lost so much of his career being a journeyman, but now that he's found Seattle and he's played very well, he's been, he's just been a very good player for them over the last few years and I have to give him his flowers on that. But the just this Detroit Lions team offensively is a very scary one. Um, if they can just their defense just get a little bit more stout and make a few stops, um, the Detroit Lions should get all the way back to the NFC championship game again, if not the Superbowl, uh, because of how potent that offense is.

Speaker 2:

So that is all the games from last week Done. Talking about that, let's go ahead. We do have the Thursday night football game. It's going to be tomorrow night. Let's go ahead and do our predictions for that. So Buccaneers-Falcons is the Thursday night football game tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

Buccaneers, buccaneers all the way. Yes.

Speaker 2:

Let me make sure I write this down so I have it for when we do Friday's pod Buccaneers At Falcons, you're taking Buccaneers. Tampa Bay, you know what I'm going to take Tampa Bay too. I think, baker, they found their mojo back in this game. Atl's defense is good, but I don't think they're good enough to stop Mike Evans from doing what he wants to do, and I think Buccaneers' defense is playing okay football and they're going to be able to at least stop Kirk Cousins from being all that effective. Get after him, sack him a little bit. Tampa Bay we'll go ahead and stick to that. Should they should. Tampa Bay We'll go ahead and stick to that. Should be a good game, though Falcons coming off their big one that they had last week against the Saints.

Speaker 2:

Another they have. It's funny they're playing each other in division so early on in the season. I can't, can't be me. I have to wait until week 11.

Speaker 1:

I play the Ravens this week and then don't play on the team until week 9.

Speaker 2:

There we go See all week and then don't play on the team until week nine. There we go see.

Speaker 1:

Like what's happening later on again, but last year it was I played ravens browns.

Speaker 2:

Uh way to the game, so you know yeah, you know there's a team that's already getting a bye week this week. Yeah, so early on in the year. I think the eagles are getting a bye this week they're so don't matter and there's another team getting a bye. I would absolutely kill it, because now you get to play 13 weeks straight of football.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely insane to have this early, I know but for the Eagles it does actually help them, oh yeah because they're at Robertsville to hurt.

Speaker 2:

I think it just so happens to be the perfect time because of the injuries that they have.

Speaker 1:

I think it's three teams this week. I think there's Um bye week.

Speaker 2:

Make sure we'll get that before we end up the podcast here. Um bye weeks for all 32 teams. Week five buys. Oh, there's four teams on by.

Speaker 1:

Detroit Lions chargers, that that hurts.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, chargers, eagles, titans. I feel like it hurts the lines. I feel like the Lions are starting to get into a groove offensively and then, not to mention, you have to play so many weeks after this with no break.

Speaker 1:

I think it just hurts the Lions. I think it helps the Titans. They've got to figure some shit out at quarterback.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, eagles definitely helps Chargers. They have to get healthy Because they were missing both tackle last game. So they definitely need to get healthy and get some of their guys back. But again, I think the only team of really consequence is really going to want to do things later on in the season is Detroit, I think. The Eagles, I guess, would want to do things, be in the postseason and all that, but the way they've been playing it's kind of hard to really think that they have aspirations of that right now with how big their issues are. But yeah, but no, it just sucks to have a week five bye. It's gross. It has to suck for those players having to have so many weeks in a row where you're definitely playing a game. All right, that is it for us. We've made, we've recapped all the games from last week. We've done a Thursday Night Football Picks. We've done a Thursday Night Football Picks. We've talked about all the little news and stuff from basketball and football, and so that is going to be about it for us today With that.
