Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the podcast. Today is Saturday, October the 5th, and we're back for the podcast.

Speaker 2:

We here. We're a little later on in the day. We had a lot of things going on yesterday. I'm not even sure what happened yesterday Today baseball games going on no-transcript while at a baseball game Michigan State played late.

Speaker 1:

That's what happened yesterday.

Speaker 2:

Michigan State played late yesterday. So, yeah, that was a whole thing. So what we're going to do is we're going to recap, slash, give some updates as to what games are happening right this second, and let me tell you there could be a potential earthquake shaking moment happening in as to what games are happening right this second, and let me tell you there could be a potential earthquake-shaking moment happening in Tennessee right now. Again, there's a little time left to see that play out, but we'll talk about that here in a bit. That's all about college football. We'll do the review, slash, recap of the Thursday night game for the NFL and then we will go through and make the rest of our picks for the rest of the NFL games and do all that. And we're on a time limit here because, full disclosure, we have a movie to go see Very, very jam-packed day. So let's go ahead and get into things before we go too much more into the madness.

Speaker 2:

So, college football happening today last night, oregon Michigan State didn't go all that well. I think it was 28 28 to 10, I believe, was the score. Wasn't a very pretty football game. Your defense played very well and to a certain extent I could uh, like. That is what I think I get it losing sucks. There is no moral victories, all that, but like, if there is something to hang your hat on, your defense plays some very good football and they did it against Ohio State and for the longest time before Ohio State just kind of had a little more bodies. And then against Oregon last night they played a very good game.

Speaker 2:

Your offense wasn't able to get anything mustered up. Your quarterback, up and down, plays fumbles. It's just a lot of it. Almost really it's like a series of unfortunate events just keeps happening to your offense and again, some of it's a good portion of it's driven by your own quarterback being up and down in his play. But I can see where things are going and it's not like your team has given up on the coach, because that's a very obvious moment. It's like when the team gives up, they don't care anymore. Um, that clearly has not happened for your team. So I think, if nothing else, I get it moral victory suck. That is something to really hang your hat on. Is that? Your coach is there, looks like he has all the like the team has confidence in him. Um, your quarterback, even though he's making mistakes, he's gonna. I do see flashes, and again those flashes can be drowned out by bad football. I totally understand that. That's what you keep saying when you keep watching his games.

Speaker 1:

Because the flashes are drowned out by bad football. He just doesn't play good football and it's it's frustrating. I see, like on 4th and 2, he throws a 48-yard catch to the two-yard line. He throws a bomb and it's a beautiful ball.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was like the five or something like that. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And then very next play he goes to run and fumbles the ball.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, dude what the fuck Like. Come on, dude, I can't even be happy for 30 seconds.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it didn't amount to anything, because my defense got it back.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

But you could just see as my defense slowly wore down. Yeah, because we kept them to seven for a while.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We were getting interceptions, it's just those interceptions weren't being reciprocated. There was nothing going.

Speaker 2:

Good, yeah, you're not taking advantage of the moments when they did happen. You guys got a couple turnovers off of it. You guys forced dan uh gabriel into, I think, two, two interceptions, um what I think both of them in the red zone right.

Speaker 2:

yes, so like your team was making good plays and like, especially on defense, it was just offensively you just weren't able to muster up enough to get back into the game. But it was 31 to 10. I had the score wrong there, but no, and then Oregon is offensively. Their quarterback from Oregon, dylan Gabriel, not great. I think the best way their offense wants to run is a very quick game offense and when those plays weren't happening it almost felt like they were just kind of stalling out. They were able to run the football effectively, but that was kind of like they just kept going over and over and over again. But it's just kind of when the defense from Michigan State just kind of is like, oh, we're making good plays, offense isn't taking advantage, it's going to happen at some point and then Oregon's good enough to where their offensive line is going to be able to kind of lean on you a little bit by the end of the game. So I don't feel any more confidence about what Oregon is based on how this game went. No, I don't.

Speaker 1:

Oregon looks almost If a team like Michigan State and that defense can find that many chinks in their armor. We're not the best defense in the world. We're a very stout and put-together defense. Yeah, but we were finding chink after chink after chink. It was the way that we made him have to throw and, as you saw not, he's not an easy thrower at all yeah, it was the first interception that he threw.

Speaker 1:

It looked like it took him a lot to throw that ball. Yeah, like he was trying to put some mustard on it and it looked like he just was struggling. It looks like he just don't have a good arm.

Speaker 2:

He's small. He's a very small dude and that's like part of the reason why nobody really looks at him as like a, like a draft prospect for the NFL, which is why he's in his fifth year of college football playing with Oregon. So like when he throws man, it seems like every throw he tries to make. It's like he has to try so hard.

Speaker 1:

It's straining.

Speaker 2:

It's straining and he doesn't have an easy arm. Like you could tell, there's some people that just have an easy throwing motion where they don't have to put a lot of energy into it and it kind of pops off their hand. That's not him. And when it came to the wide receivers for Oregon, it wasn't like they were very explosive.

Speaker 2:

But even though they were fast as all fuck, they were fast, but also I think, even if they were able to get behind the defense and all that, can Gabriel make those passes downfield? I doubt it.

Speaker 1:

That was one thing I did see is they would get behind the defense and he wouldn't throw those balls. He wouldn't be able to throw them.

Speaker 2:

And their offense really is quick game. That's what they did with last year with Bo Nix. But Bo Nix was more athletic, so he's able to run outside the pocket and kind of he just makes you have to worry about him in that way. Dylan Gabriel is not that, he's not a runner at all, so him, he's kind of like a distributor, distributor, point guard back there and if you're able to stop that quick passing game, you're going to be able to stop their offense from to be able to do a lot of what they want to do. But no very good credit to the michigan state defense. It's just their offense has ways to go um. But yeah, that's pretty much it I got. That's all I got on that um. So for the rest of games going on today, I'll start my game. Uh, ohio state won. I was watching my game while watching baseball today that that was a whole different type of experience.

Speaker 2:

Ohio State beats Iowa 35-7. The first half was 7-0. Our offense was not able to get anything going in the first half. We had a fumble from Jeremiah Smith Very few mistakes that he's had this season, but that was one that he had. He had a fumble there. I think we had a pick in the first half and we had a missed fourth down so it was a turnover on downs. So those were three scoring drives we could have had that were messed up on our own doing In the second half. Ohio State was able to defensively but our defense was great. We kept Iowa to like 119 yards when they're averaging over 250 on the season. So our defense was able to stop them from doing what they want to do pretty much all day. Our offense just kind of took a little bit of a minute to get into it.

Speaker 2:

Emeka Gbuka had three touchdown receptions today. He was awesome. Will Howard, as much as he had a little struggle in the first half, through that pick he went I think he went 15 of 19. Only had four incompletions. Four touchdowns Played. Only had four incompletions. Four touchdowns played great. Jeremiah Smith another one-handed touchdown reception in this game was awesome. We averaged over six yards of carry in this game. Will Howard also had a rushing touchdown. I think offensively, just as things go on, it's just they get better and better throughout the game and our defense is just so good it's going to be very hard for you to kind of get points on them. I think I heard a stat earlier watching the game was that Ohio State in the second half was like 119-10 scoring differential. So if Ohio State's defense keep doing that, our offense will take advantage.

Speaker 1:

Well, heck, I think every other game your offense is a slow burn, your defense is a slow burn.

Speaker 2:

I think our defense, even if it's a slow burn. They're not letting people have it. No, they're not letting it go.

Speaker 1:

It's just they're giving a little more leeway than they probably should. So I think right now your team's just a slow burn through the first half, yeah, and then it's in the second half where they really pick it up and no one else can really come close. It's just on certain teams. Eventually it's not going to work.

Speaker 2:

We're playing Oregon next week, so the question is I don't think it will be hard to have us. We're going to their house, we're playing in a hostile environment. There is no lack of juice.

Speaker 1:

You have no other option.

Speaker 2:

I didn't even say that. It wasn't like they were ruckus out there Again. Maybe it's just because they thought they were playing Michigan State because they didn't have to wake up for the game. But they had a full house and it wasn't like I could hear them through the television, like it was meh at best, but maybe they'll be even a little bit crazier when I sit in town.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's the thing. They started to wake up later in that first quarter we got yeah, because then towards the second quarter they're like damn, we really are. Right, and then I stopped watching after halftime because we were down 14 at the end and you're just like the way that game was going.

Speaker 2:

You're like our offense isn't going to do anything. We're done, no, and then in passing.

Speaker 1:

I kept looking at it and I was like, all right, we're down 21. Fuck it, Yep. No, I totally agree, it's not worth it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure, I totally agree. Um, we're on to Oregon next week. Um, next game, uh, georgia beats Auburn. Coming off the loss last week to Alabama, they came back to look pretty good um and took care of business. I think they won 40. Uh, what was the game? Make sure I have that right. Um, that game was 31 to 13. Um, georgia's kind of took, took, took lead in the first half and just never gave the lead back. Their defense was able to suffocate Auburn. Auburn wasn't able to kind of do what they needed to do, to kind of get into the game when it came to, just like you know, scoring enough points. And Georgia's offense is like weak as it can look. At times they have explosive moments, but again in this game they didn't need to, because that auburn offense wasn't really anything to like really be worried about. Um, nebraska ruckers. Uh, let's see here that game. I think ruckers is currently up. I think ruck like 14 and nothing or something like that.

Speaker 2:

Let me make sure I got that right 14 to 7 actually. No, they already won. Nebraska beat Rutgers 14-7. Kind of a slug fight of a game, but Nebraska 5-1, able to stay on top. They're in the race to be one of the better teams in the Big Ten because of it. Next game Bama Tough fight. I kind of mentioned this earlier. Bama is currently in an absolute doozy with Vanderbilt right now. Let me make sure I repeat this Vanderbilt, also known as the Stanford of the SEC, Vanderbilt's currently up 40-35, with less than two minutes remaining and they are driving down the football field and all they have to do is keep running and make Bama use their last two timeouts.

Speaker 2:

And if they can do so I think one more or two more first downs. This game is absolutely over. This could be an earthquake-shattering type of game After last week where Bama looked so great and everybody was talking about how great Bama looks and Kalen DeBoer is such a good coach and you don't have to worry about it like Nick Benickson being on because of how great Kalen DeBoer is and they come out flat against this Vanderbilt team. They think you could just roll over and Vanderbilt came to play. They were able to run the football effectively. Their defense was able to stop Bama from really doing anything in the first half. Obviously Bama kind of woke up in the second half, really started like scoring some points as they're able to kind of lean on the you know less talented Vanderbilt team, but Vanderbilt offensively. Every time Bama was able to like they got a few scores of Ryan Williams, like they, every time Bama threw a punch, try to get back into the fight. Vanderbilt has taken it and they have taken the ball back, taking time off the clock and they have put points on the board every time and this Bama defense was not able to stop Vanderbilt from doing what they want to do in this game and literally all they need is one or two more first downs. This game is over. So, as long as they don't mess this up, this will be one of those crazy upsets that Vanderbilt fans and their faculty will be talking about for years to come Again.

Speaker 2:

Will this change Vanderbilt into being one of those teams people have to be scared of? No, because it's just. They're just not that type of program. But again, for this season it's very huge, especially when everybody thought they had their minds made up as to how great this Bama and Georgia were coming off of. Last week. Bama comes and loses this game where me coming off last podcast I was talking about. Both teams had a half where, like you could either win or lose to anybody based on what, what half of football you watch in that Bama Georgia game. And that second half of Bama showed up in this game and Vanderbilt is was good enough today to kind of hit him with that poison and kind of take him out in this. Uh for this, for this bout looks like it's about to be over here, one more first down, this game is over.

Speaker 2:

So, all that being the case, as soon as that game is over, I'll make sure to put the little final nail in that coffin on that one. But I just want to make sure I kind of mentioned it there that this could potentially oh first down, this game is over. So Bama's done. They've experienced their first loss of the season to the Vanderbilt Commodores. And Jason, I remember you asked me last week about what Commodores are. I have no idea what Commodores are. I think we looked it up.

Speaker 1:

A Commodore, as of the Commodore 64, is one of the first original gaming titles. It was hooked up to a PC or a monitor and it played very much retro games. They would be rudimentary in a way that you would find like well, commodore games?

Speaker 2:

I have no, but I don't think they named their school, the Commodores, off of that. It'd be cooler if you did. It would be Because I don't know what the fuck?

Speaker 1:

it is a rank in the Navy.

Speaker 2:

Yes, that's exactly what it is. Yes, when we looked it up last week.

Speaker 1:

It's above. Below an admiral, but above a general.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

And it's fucking lame.

Speaker 2:

That is lame. No, it's true, that's fucking lame. They're nowhere near water. You are nowhere near water.

Speaker 1:

You are a fucking landlocked college.

Speaker 2:

So why would that be the thing? Why would that be the thing?

Speaker 1:

I have no idea.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the other thing is Niautas game. It's over. Bama takes the L Ins Insane. Nobody ever would have thought that a game like this would happen to Bama after what happened last week, with them being able to take down Georgia Only. A couple other games I kind of want to mention in college football before we get to the NFL stuff.

Speaker 2:

Michigan goes to Washington and plays them at 7th. I think that game has already started by now. That game was a big one just because Michigan, with as bad and as good as they have looked at times with the gadget offense they're doing, and the defense has times they look very good, but other times really can't stop anybody. They're facing a Washington team that can score. Um, their quarterback has hasn't thrown any interception on the season. He's played very well and they're going to Washington like Michigan has played their first five games of the season at home. So like even with all the struggles that they've had when they beat USC and like when they've struggled with other teams, like they've had to do it at home. So what happens when they take that offense? That isn't as effective and they have to go somewhere where it's going to be a hostile environment and you're going to have to play in their house and have to deal with all that and you don't have any belief that your quarterback can really take advantage, like be able to really throw consistently down the football field field. How can your offense really run when you have to go into a hostile environment? That's going to be the big question for this Michigan squad. And can Washington take them out? I do think it is a possibility. Would I put money on it? Probably not, but you know it is something to at least mention.

Speaker 2:

Usc. Minnesota just started their game. Can USC, coming off of their win last week to Wisconsin, can they face another Minnesota team? Minnesota's a little bit better offensively, so can they face a Minnesota team that at least have a little bit more of a pulse offensively? And then Minnesota's defense is built a lot like Wisconsin's, where their offensive and defensive lines are a lot of big boys, and so USC will not be able to run the football as effectively as they have in prior games. So like can USC take advantage of this moment, especially being in Minnesota? Can they do what they have to do in order to win this game? That is a big question they have to answer.

Speaker 2:

And Miami plays Cal Again. Miami should win this game. But again, playing a Cal team, they have to go all the way across the country. Can they take care of business like they needed to? They should have lost last week to va tech so like. So it shows that they have an intensity, propensity for playing down to their competition and not playing good football. So a cal team, that isn't necessarily the best, but they can. They take advantage of bad moments from miami. If they were, if they're given them, is the biggest question.

Speaker 2:

Ole Miss coming off their bad loss last week to Kentucky. Um beat on South Carolina handily 27 to 3 game wasn't really much of a doubt. Um, it is definitely a game they needed because if they would have struggled in this game as well, people would really start making, making uh questions about whether this Ole Miss team can even be, even get into the play, let alone be a contender in the playoff. So that is the big game they definitely needed in order to take advantage of that.

Speaker 2:

Texas A&M-Missouri this is like the two more games I have to mention A&M-Missouri Texas A&M beat Missouri 41-10. Absolute stomping. This game honestly wasn't really close at all. Missouri went scoreless in the first half and then the second half only got those 10 points. Missouri was looked at as like one of the better teams in the SEC. Like not really. I think people understood that Missouri kind of were they were feasting off a bad schedule as to not really facing all that great of teams. So the question was was anybody going to be able to take it to? Like, take them out before they get through all their schedule? And they're like looked at as like, oh, they don't have any losses in the sec, so we have to put them into the playoff, even though everybody knows that they've been struggling against teams that they have been playing in on their schedule. So, like, will we have a fake team from the SEC get into the playoff just because they're an SEC team, even though they didn't really play anybody in their conference or on their schedule? Glad they got that loss to put a nice little ding on their record. It'll make it a lot harder for them to breeze through the rest of their schedule and just walk right into the playoff without people at least asking questions.

Speaker 2:

Penn State takes care of UCLA. Their offense is still up and down very weird but their defense comes to play every week and, honestly, this is the same story for every Penn State team that's ever existed over the last 20-something years. Their defense is good. Offensively, they like to struggle. Can they play a game like this and beat Ohio State? Can they beat Oregon? Can they beat the big boys in their own conference playing this way? No. But again, if you only lose one or two games on your own schedule, a team like Penn State can still get into the playoff. But the question is, can you win multiple games? There is a question they're definitely going to have to answer and their offense is going to have to be a lot better if they're going to be able to meet that challenge, even if they, you know, managed to, you know, not get beat too bad by the other teams on their on their schedule, and that is a SMU loses the Louisville SMU beats Louisville 34 to 27 and Indiana is currently undefeated.

Speaker 2:

I have to mention they beat Northwestern today 41 to 24, and the way that Indiana schedule looks like their tough as games are looking like Ohio state and Michigan are the two like toughest games on their schedule left, and then I think they also have to play somebody else too. Let me, let me check real quick. I'll mention this cause it's kind of like a crazy story that they've been looking as good as they have. They had to play Nebraska, washington, michigan state, michigan, ohio state and then Purdue 10 10-2 is really on the on the like, definitely on the table for them and if they only lose two games, like they would probably be the third or fourth best team in the Big Ten by the time the season's over and like they actually might get into the playoff if they go 10-2, and for an Indiana team that nobody thought anything of coming into this season, it is definitely a definitely a weird thing to think about the fact that they've like this Ascension coming off, the brand new head coach and all that coming into this season, in saying the thought that they have an opportunity to really make the playoff if they kind of do what they need to do. It only lose two games.

Speaker 2:

With the schedule that I have left, it's kind of crazy. Um, but yeah, that's all I got for college football. Jc, you can stop being quiet now, uh, because there's things that you now care about to come into things. So that's it for college football. Man, it's crazy to see bam lost to vanderbilt. That's a insane thing. People are gonna be talking about for weeks. Um so thursday night football game that happened a few days ago. Tampa bay went to atlanta. Atlanta beat tampa bay 36-30 in overtime. This game was truly a back-and-forth type of affair. There were points where there was a fumble that was not called. That should have been. Kirk Cousins played a great game of football 42-58.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that boy Kirk goes, that boy Kirk goes as much as we talk bad about Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2:

We have to give him some of his flowers when he does play well 42 of 58, 509 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 pick. He was out of his mind in this game. It was crazy how good he was playing. Like they didn't really run the football that effectively. But again, kirk was so hot that they kind of abandoned it. They abandoned it early. Kirk is on one.

Speaker 1:

I think Tampa Bay is a team, a really hard team to run against.

Speaker 2:

anyway, yeah, they are no, for sure yeah.

Speaker 1:

Vita Veya and Levante David in the front seven. So it's not. There's not exactly many places to go.

Speaker 2:

Right, you're not wrong. Speaking of your favorite wide receiver ever, drake London, we have to give the Miss Flowers too 12 receptions, 154 yards and a touchdown. Darnell Mooney 9 receptions, 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Speaker 1:

So he's only ass on the Bears, got it? What the fuck.

Speaker 2:

Kyle Pitts 7 receptions, 88 yards. The touchdown winner, Kaderil Hodge 2 receptions, 67 yards and a touchdown. Exactly we didn't know who he was until he scored the touchdown to end the game in overtime and again, I think we talked about this before. With overtime it's kind of unfair. The rules suck. I prefer the the.

Speaker 2:

At least they change in the playoffs, where at least both teams have an opportunity both teams should have an opportunity at all times and again I'm not saying the college football, the college football overtime is perfect, but at least I find it to be better because at least both't have an opportunity at all times. And again I'm not saying the college football.

Speaker 1:

overtime is perfect, but it's better.

Speaker 2:

But at least I find it to be better Because at least both teams have an opportunity, on offense and defense, to make the plays to win a game.

Speaker 1:

We're going to give you both the chance to swing this football Right. Show who's the better team here. Show who deserves the win. And the way they do it have the same overtime rolls.

Speaker 2:

And I get it. They're like, oh, your defense has an opportunity to end it. But I'm like offense is just so good nowadays. Well, the problem.

Speaker 1:

I think Tampa Bay was just as fucking hot.

Speaker 2:

No, you're not wrong.

Speaker 1:

Honestly, Tampa Bay fucked up by taking their foot off the pedal.

Speaker 2:

No, they did.

Speaker 1:

I don't understand how baker is doing that well, has three touchdowns in the first fucking half. You look, oh, let's stop throwing yeah, they.

Speaker 2:

They really did not do much else in the second half they switched to the run almost entirely they were like. They almost felt like they were trying to drain the clock out. They were like, oh, we gotta, we can't have this football game keep going back and forth. It's almost like they just stopped believing in what they was on and they were like, hey, let's just try to.

Speaker 1:

They'd be doing that shit. Kyle Shanahan would be doing.

Speaker 2:

Let's try to shorten this game a bit, and at some point you just kind of have to go with the flow of the game and it's kind of they put Baker in a box man in the second half.

Speaker 1:

Let him keep throwing. Yeah, y'all were doing so well.

Speaker 2:

It was working At some point. You just kind of have to just go with it.

Speaker 1:

Let him sling the football dude Go with it. They decided way too late, when the game was kind of already getting out of hand, to let Baker start throwing At that point. He's fucking cold. You don't throw your starter pitcher in. Let him throw four straight shutouts. Be like yo, I want to take you out. It's like, let him throw eight fucking innings, yeah, and he has a out for a closer what the fuck is wrong with you, bro insane. You have to let your guy finish the game out, yeah uh and dude.

Speaker 2:

That's not how you win football games like tempe was able to run the football effectively. They had 160 yards rushing they did. But, like at that point, like you just kind of, you have to have some more balance there, especially with how the game was going you can run, you gotta score.

Speaker 1:

If you run twice and throw once, that is a much more balance. They're running every single play.

Speaker 2:

You can have all the balance you want, but if you're not getting points on the scoreboard by the time the drive is over, you're not doing your job.

Speaker 1:

I agree.

Speaker 2:

That's just not how it goes. Oh no it was a good Thursday night game. It was a great Thursday night game.

Speaker 1:

There have been a lot of bad ones, but this was a good one.

Speaker 2:

No, this was an awesome. It sucks that.

Speaker 1:

Tampa didn't have a shot.

Speaker 2:

I would have liked to see Tampa have a shot in that. It seemed like it just ends so quickly.

Speaker 1:

You're like oh we're over time.

Speaker 2:

It's exciting and the next thing you know, atlanta goes out down the field. In three plays it's over and I'm like, oh okay.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes having shootouts is what I want to see.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Like the Colorado State last year.

Speaker 2:

Playing too man, it was fucking annoying.

Speaker 1:

I didn't want to be awake no more.

Speaker 2:

It keeps going like is this game over yet, but man it was impressive how well they started doing.

Speaker 1:

It elevates when you have an opponent that's that good as good as you, if not better than you, at that moment. It elevates the play and it makes these the moments you want to talk about.

Speaker 2:

They had Georgia last week. In that second half they just kept scoring back to back, to back to back to again. It's like, oh, is this game over yet? But it's like they're just meeting the moment.

Speaker 1:

Offensive showdowns in football are what you want to see.

Speaker 2:

That's what the NFL wants to see. The way they make their game, they lean it toward the offense so much that they want to see points scored, so like if that's the game you want you have to give both offenses a chance in the biggest moment in overtime.

Speaker 1:

Don't take it away from them at the end. Moment in overtime. Don't take it away from him at the end. You took away exactly what you've been looking for.

Speaker 2:

Exactly Again. Bay did it themselves too, by not throwing as much in the second half. But you know, it is what it is. All the credit to Kirk and the Atlanta Falcons, because we've been talking trash about when they've been bad, but in this game they played very good football. Kirk played great, all their weapons played very well. You just have to give all the credit to the Falcons for playing well at home and winning that game. Alright, let's go ahead and go into the rest of the games here. We have to go ahead and pick our game so we can do this thing. We both picked Tampa Bay, so we both lost that game. See, that sucks.

Speaker 1:

I pick Baker every week. You pick him Fucks me.

Speaker 2:

No you're not wrong. But let's go ahead and go on to the rest of the games here and we'll just kind of talk about them as we go. New York Giants and Minnesota. We're not in really much of a rush at all. It's only 8 o'clock, we're going quick.

Speaker 1:

Giants Minnesota. The, the Giants give me no reason to say they're going to win this Jets Minnesota. Oh, you said Giants.

Speaker 2:

I might have that's all I need New York Jets going to Minnesota, minnesota looking like probably one of the hottest teams in football.

Speaker 1:

They're at Minnesota, at Minnesota, minnesota. I'm picking Minnesota. If they were at the Jets, then I have more reason to, but in a way that I am looking at Aaron Rodgers, as he is not who I think he should be right now. On the other hand, I'm looking at the Vikings on. They are everything. I think they shouldn't be.

Speaker 2:

Their offense can't be stopped right now, man.

Speaker 1:

Their offense can't be stopped and their defense is playing good football.

Speaker 2:

That sounds like a great team to me, and the Jets are not playing well offensively right now.

Speaker 1:

And again.

Speaker 2:

Aaron Rodgers can wake up tomorrow. Oh, by the way, this is in a different country. They're playing in London in the morning, so they'll be playing 9.30 am, so they're both out on long flights. So Aaron Rodgers can wake up tomorrow on his ayahuasca stuff and be like hey, I want to play some good football today. They're playing indoors, I believe. So like, but we gotta get minnesota's so hot man I don't.

Speaker 1:

I have to pick minnesota now. This is a game that they could very likely lose it being over in london sam donald can show his rear, his ugly head, like hey, he can have some bad games, but again there's been great players that play shitty in london. No, you're not wrong, that's a long fucking flight, but you know I'll take the Vikings.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to take the Vikings as well. I just think they have so many off the weapons. The New York Giants, new York Jets I do keep saying Giants the Jets defense doesn't have enough to stop. Who are they going to put?

Speaker 2:

They've been bad man, justin Jefferson. He's been on a freaking tear, and offensively with all the weapons that they have. It's just very hard. Aaron Jones playing good football. Aaron Rodgers knows what that guy's like. They're just on a heater right now. Carolina going to Chicago. Carolina new lease on life, even though they do they even have a win yet.

Speaker 1:

No, they're still winless.

Speaker 2:

No they have a win who?

Speaker 1:

did they beat? They lost to the Bengals that week but beat somebody else the week before.

Speaker 2:

Did they?

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

They're 1-3. Oh, they beat the Raiders. That's who they beat.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because they went out there and Dalton just started fucking slinging the football football New lease on life man.

Speaker 2:

I think Andy Dalton has really unlocked that offense.

Speaker 1:

Now their Chicago defense is very, very good the defense for Chicago is good and they've been playing very well. Encounter that Panthers defense is very bad and they are not playing very well. They don't have a pass rush, no, so it becomes a shootout Now with Caleb hasn't been playing all that well though.

Speaker 2:

He played okay last week, but it really wasn't great football, yeah, and in the way that I feel like Dalton.

Speaker 1:

Just he's a seasoned, a well-seasoned vet. He knows what he's looking at, he knows what defense he's seeing, he knows where to throw the ball.

Speaker 2:

And he can manage not getting sacked. He gets the ball out of his hand, he's going to manage that too. He's not getting sacked.

Speaker 1:

He's hand, he's gonna manage that too, so you're not getting sack. He's not throwing a lot of picks now. He has not faced many good defenses yet. True, this is the best is that he's facing? Yeah, I want to lean the panthers here, but that sounds like a terrible fucking idea so bad.

Speaker 2:

But how stupid would we look if we come in the next podcast and be like oh yeah, we pick carolina to win this game?

Speaker 1:

and and they lost by 40. Yeah, Like what the fuck.

Speaker 2:

I don't think Chicago has it in them to beat a team like that by 40. No, but again, this is the kind of game the Panthers lose by 40.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I want to. I'm leaning Carolina. Everything in my bones is telling me Carolina is a team to pick they're playing better football and Chicago is not offensively. But I can't, I just can't. I'm going chicago, I'm gonna go carolina, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna trust the red rifle again with my hopes and dreams. Wow that I have trusted him with many times before and he has failed on me.

Speaker 2:

I thought you learned from that man I have not old habits die hard it's not hard that that literally is the name of the podcast. Now, that's's perfect.

Speaker 1:

I have to. I'm going to give him everything I've ever given him my hopes, my dreams of a playoff berth, of an AFC championship, everything he could not give me.

Speaker 2:

Honestly, he wasn't the reason In those moments. If we're going to go down, memory lane.

Speaker 1:

He wasn't not the reason. Yeah, but he played good football in big moments In 2014, he threw four interceptions to the Steelers Not good interceptions. I'm talking shitty. What the fuck are you doing interceptions? You remember this game? Just how I remember this game. This nigga was ass. It was solely him.

Speaker 2:

It's inevitable. It almost felt inevitable at that point. He is a playoff choker.

Speaker 1:

He is not good in the playoffs, oh yeah. He is a wreck because he could put up some fucking numbers On the regular season.

Speaker 2:

He's a freaking monster. That boy had an arm he could grow Him and AJ Green, they were tearing it up.

Speaker 1:

Them motherfuckers could go yeah Him, aj Green Giov, until they got to the playoffs and all them niggas sucked. Every single one of them sucked, and AJ was probably hurt, dude, in a way that we always had a pretty good front seven. Geno Atkins and Carlos Dumlatt were those guys.

Speaker 2:

They were those dudes. Yeah, it was very hard to run football against them, but when? It came to the playoffs them.

Speaker 1:

Niggas were ass. They couldn't stop fucking anything.

Speaker 2:

And I love them.

Speaker 1:

I love them to death. Geno Atkins I curse and pray. I never got to see those teams play Because they were good. They were above 500 teams almost every year. In that 2014 year, we were 14-2. We were fucking unstoppable. We were 6-0 in the AFC. We were fucking everybody up Just for the 9-8 Steelers. I'm like just fucking iced us yeah. We scored seven fucking points. You scored 38. Yep, you had been pretty much meh all year.

Speaker 2:

You had been okay, hey, that's how it was going back. Then it's how it goes. The year before we were like 11-5.

Speaker 1:

Dude, we were fucking icing it, fucking, losing it. I never, ever want to be that team again. Just having Joe Burrow got us to the second round? No for sure.

Speaker 2:

We've been to the.

Speaker 1:

AFC Championship twice. You, at one point during our Super Bowl, were like. I want to tell you how to act like you've been there. But you haven't been here before, but you were like you've never been here, so I don't know what to tell you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That was spazzing the fuck out. I didn't know what to do. Yeah, this is new. We were assed the year before.

Speaker 2:

We only won three games.

Speaker 1:

Yep, the blowup was crazy and the year after I knew what I was doing A little chill yeah Made the AFC championship. We lost Some bullshit, but we lost.

Speaker 2:

You'll never forget that, never forget.

Speaker 1:

Never in my life, never forget, but again, that's all. I'm putting my hopes and dreams in the red rifle for the final time.

Speaker 2:

I'm going Chicago man, that defense is good enough to where I'm just like by all means. But again, I wouldn't be surprised, I really wouldn't the Carolina's offense the more they look good, it puts even more emphasis on like, like we were trying to take up for Old Bryce Young, but I'm like the longer this goes If.

Speaker 1:

I'm the fans of that team. I'm looking at this nigga like Dude, you fucking suck.

Speaker 2:

Again, it's still on the team too for not helping him, which is great and all but everybody says they're not helping him.

Speaker 1:

But they put 36-year-old Andy Dalton out there and Andy Dalton's like fuck, I can go beat the Raiders, right, right. He said fuck it.

Speaker 2:

I'll beat the Raiders Exactly.

Speaker 1:

And he had like 208, eight yards. That game he played a great game.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, awesome uh I, like all the wide receivers, are happy now they're getting the ball. They have a semblance of an offense. They're able to pass it all over the field they can pass, they can run the football.

Speaker 1:

Now suddenly their o-line's fucking okay like they know how to block.

Speaker 2:

Uh, yeah, I dude like the whole team has confidence in the red rifle. I'm looking at bryce, young like there's no way.

Speaker 1:

you weren't the problem now. You had to have been the problem. Yeah, because we take you out, we throw in a veteran quarterback and he's fucking fine Again. That is Andy Dalton, who's played with a lot of shitty Bengals teams.

Speaker 2:

So like he knows how to play with bad football teams With bad O-lines.

Speaker 1:

He knows how to, so he does know how to play, so I don't know, but again it's like a transfer.

Speaker 2:

They look like a totally different football team, like that's how it is so different, it is so different.

Speaker 1:

I have a love-hate relationship with Eddie Dalton.

Speaker 2:

No, yeah, for sure you should Like again. That was a very pivotal time for you as a fan. Things could have gone one way, they went another.

Speaker 1:

Very painful times for hate I get it.

Speaker 2:

I truly do. He still, when he retires, probably makes it into the Bengals ring of honor.

Speaker 1:

I think he probably should right he probably does.

Speaker 2:

He had the stats.

Speaker 1:

He was there for a long time. He was the leading passer in every single thing.

Speaker 2:

I think Carson Palmer still is. Carson Palmer was there forever.

Speaker 1:

He was, but no, he has more yards than Carson Palmer Dang.

Speaker 2:

In a Bengal uniform, in a Bengal uniform, let me. Because Carson Palmer did went and he went to. He was there for eight years, went to the Raiders.

Speaker 1:

Went to the Raiders for a year and then went to Arizona. And then stuck in Arizona for like six years.

Speaker 2:

He has more yards in an Arizona uniform than a Bengals uniform.

Speaker 1:

Crazy, Crazy crazy, crazy yeah.

Speaker 2:

Next game, speaking of the Bengals, baltimore goes to Cincinnati 1 o'clock tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

Okay, now we're both playing terrible fucking defense, but this nigga, derrick Henry 200 yards last game. I ain't got no D lineman.

Speaker 2:

Do you have anybody back for this game? I'm checking.

Speaker 1:

Murphy's still out with a knee injury. He's questionable. We need somebody to pressure the quarterback if we can't pressure Lamar Murphy's questionable we need somebody to pressure the quarterback If we can't pressure Lamar Murphy's questionable.

Speaker 2:

Mckinley Jackson's questionable.

Speaker 1:

BJ Hill's back.

Speaker 2:

He's on the injury report.

Speaker 1:

That's very helpful.

Speaker 2:

Mike Hilton's questionable. Sheldon Rankin's questionable.

Speaker 1:

DJ Turner out there on safe wires.

Speaker 2:

Again, you's not like, you don't have to worry about their like, their passing offense is pretty much non-existent. It's the run game you have to worry about and it's like a sledgehammer. We couldn't stop from what they've been the last two games.

Speaker 1:

We couldn't stop from Andy Stevenson. We couldn't stop fucking Brian Brian Thomas Jr. We couldn't stop Chuba Hubbard. We could not. We cannot stop the run.

Speaker 2:

And now it's Derrick Henry.

Speaker 1:

It is.

Speaker 2:

Derrick Henry and if they decide, unless the Ravens come out and decide, hey, we can pass football now when they have Derrick Henry sitting back there, but if they come out with the same game plan, that they had against the Bills we're fucked. It's a sledgehammer. They're going to keep pounding until you give up. You're going to cower in fear at some point if we keep going at this. And then you add Lamar in there, him able to run the football and be crazy Fucking.

Speaker 1:

You're on the option attack Dude, we're fucked. But in the same way I look at my offense like, hey, we can sling this football anywhere on the field.

Speaker 2:

And that's the thing is that if the Bengals can kind of jump out to an early lead and like really be efficient, if they can jump out to an early lead and where Baltimore is not, able to have that same game plan that is the way the. Bengals can win this game.

Speaker 1:

We've only led one game going into the second half this year, and it was against Kansas City. So early lead is not a thing.

Speaker 2:

You cannot have a slow start In this game. If you have a slow start, it plays right into the Ravens.

Speaker 1:

We're very much a slow start team and that's the only problem. We're very much a slow start team and that's the only problem. I'm going to go Bengals here because we're at home. Okay, and I just think, after last week where DeMar Chase and Teagan found their groove and our running backs found their groove, I think we had a that my O-line looks pretty good.

Speaker 2:

Your O-line has been playing well. It's not like the Bengals. I mean it's not like the Ravens' defense is like amazing. Agre, I mean, it's not like the Ravens' defense is like amazing Agreed Especially on a secondary.

Speaker 1:

You can get them. You can get on them if you— With motherfuckers like Kyle Hamilton and Miles Murphy back there.

Speaker 2:

But again they don't pass. Defend very well.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 2:

They don't. Their defense is not—their defense is taking a step back from what it was last year yes. So like especially you're facing Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins, I'm like come on, man.

Speaker 1:

I just think we took a step forward last week. We've taken steps forward since we played the Chiefs. We're never going to have that first game against New England again. That is never going to happen again. And we took a step forward against the Chiefs and we took a step forward against the Commies, took a step forward against the Panthers, and now we're here. Have we won one game? We've won two, You've won one.

Speaker 2:

You're one and three right now.

Speaker 1:

Goddamn and we took another step forward against the Panthers, and right now, I think all we can do is go up. I think this is a team we can beat.

Speaker 2:

You can? No, you can. I just think you guys have to start so fast man and that's have to start so fast, man, that's the thing.

Speaker 1:

I think we can. You've seen it. I've seen it Against the Panthers dude. I walked in and we were fucking.

Speaker 2:

we already had a touchdown, your defense is like there's been moments where your defense has been nothing and you're like, oh, we can get the Super Bowl without a defense. I get that, but at least your defense at that point, at least they'll be able to get a couple stops.

Speaker 1:

They could do something. They could do something. No, I'm looking at my defense right now. Your defense is being held for hostage. They're just out there like there's nothing they can do. There's many times I'm looking at it like it's Cam Taylor Britton. That's fucking it.

Speaker 2:

That's it Outside of him.

Speaker 1:

there's nobody else doing anything, because Trey Hendrickson's out there by himself, so he's just getting fucking double teamed.

Speaker 2:

He's getting double teamed.

Speaker 1:

What they've been doing is BDL was their last game, but they would legit just push them both to the same fucking side and run to the opposite side. They were not running to the left, they were going to the right?

Speaker 2:

No, they were running away.

Speaker 1:

Jay Daniels, not once did he ever think about going left. He went straight right, no question. It wasn't even like they do, like a little curl around. No, he would run straight out to the right and they would just send four people that way. Yep, so I just, I don't know, I'm going bangles.

Speaker 2:

I have to come in I can see the game plan. I really do see the game plan. It's just can they pull it? I feel like the ravens can win this game more ways. The bangles can. I gotta, I gotta go baltimore here that's perfectly reasonable.

Speaker 1:

I I might even.

Speaker 2:

I'm sitting here like I really want to pick the bangles I really do but's just, and the Bengals are on their last breath here, Like they lose this game. Things start getting very hard. The rest of the season we have to win.

Speaker 1:

We have to win a bunch of the AFC North games.

Speaker 2:

Like you'll be 1-4 at that point. That's a hard hole to dig yourself out at the top of 3-1, which is insane for me to say right now, Even though I believe in my Steelers always.

Speaker 1:

The fact that 3-1 is crazy. Fuck around, let us be a top-ten pick. We'll pick him. I got a blue card. Fuck around, go ahead, fuck around, let that happen. I wish you fucking would. We will fuck you up. Jermaine Burton Dude like I mean, I don't shoot.

Speaker 2:

There's no good no that Luther Burden from Missouri.

Speaker 1:

There is no good that comes from us losing a bunch of games and there is no good that comes from us winning a bunch of games for anybody Because we went 1-3 the year after we drafted Burrow. You know what fucking happened the year after Chase. Number five, let's draft tomorrow Chase, fuck it Super Bowl Like come on hey.

Speaker 2:

I'm glad you at least have this type of mentality about it. It's not ending your life.

Speaker 1:

Win or lose. Joe Burrow, you're signing the next five years.

Speaker 2:

No, he's here and again, the confidence that comes with. We got Joe Burrow, it's fine.

Speaker 1:

If we could not sign Jamar Chase or T Higg fuck yeah, we can get a receiver here.

Speaker 2:

No, I like the confidence you can have, because I sure wouldn't be able to have the confidence if I was one and three right now. No, you're a lot better than me at this point.

Speaker 1:

Well, I've been in this position before. True, we're always in the position every year. So I'm just like, yeah, this is.

Speaker 2:

Back, skin to wall. Time is like Burrow is going to come out. This lights out tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

We win the next nine games to be fucking 10-3. I've seen this story before. I've seen this story four fucking years in a row.

Speaker 2:

But it's just some of these. Some of the details are very alarming and it makes me worry. Oh no, it's all very alarming.

Speaker 1:

No one's happy in my locker room. Joe Burrow's not fucking happy, no he's not. He's following the coach into his office Like, come on, man, we gotta get this figured out, you don't follow your quarterback in your own office and the defense is just man.

Speaker 2:

The defense is just they're struggling. Next game Miami going to New England.

Speaker 1:

Miami looked as awful as they could possibly be last year. Last week, new England all day. You're going to New.

Speaker 2:

England. Dude, you can go.

Speaker 1:

Miami, I don't have any confidence in Okay, I'm going to go to England because Miami looks like shit.

Speaker 2:

They do, and they're just waiting for Tua to get back. I feel like as soon as they get Tua back, they're just going to have their mojo again, but until then they're playing against a good New England defense man, even though as much as I don't believe in the New England offense.

Speaker 1:

That defense is crazy. The defense is good you think they're finally throwing Bo Nix. No, my, my bad.

Speaker 2:

Drake May. Drake May At some point.

Speaker 1:

You got to do something because Jacoby Brissett ain't working.

Speaker 2:

This team is scarred by what happened with Mac Jones, so they are going to hold on for dear life and try to do this the right way so they don't have another Mac Jones situation. They literally just drafted a first-round quarterback. Two years ago it was two or three years ago. Three years ago it wasn't four.

Speaker 1:

Trevor Lawrence got paid. It's been four years. Has it really been four years? Trevor Lawrence, justin Fields Okay, zach Wilson.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay. So yeah, it's been four years. So the fact that they literally just drafted him and it did not work out, so I feel like they want to protect him as long as they possibly can until he's totally ready, because this team I've kind of had this thought New England Patriots are not a well-run organization. They weren't before Bill Belichick and Tom Brady got there and then, ever since Tom Brady's left, it's gone to crap. And now Bill Belichick is gone and the ownership I get it Again. I feel like it was the perfect concoction for the 20-year run that they had, but I could see this organization never having a winning season for a long time if this whole thing with Drake May doesn't work well.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, we're probably looking at the next 10 years of them not winning Because they have no talent Offensively, they're pretty much screwed.

Speaker 2:

They trade away one of their best defenders in Matthew Judon. They have one great corner when they picked up Christian Gonzalez, but outside of him I'm like who else do you have? Players won't want to go there because all their fans are racist. They have a lot of things not in their favor. That was all covered up by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for those 20 years, and now you don't have either of them. I'm not even going to talk about whose credit is whose, but both of them are gone.

Speaker 1:

They're both gone. There's nothing to attract defensive talent or offensive talent. There's nothing to attract anybody to your city. Boston is a really shitty city to play in any sport, especially if you're bad.

Speaker 2:

Just because of the fans. The fans can turn on you really quick. Yes, they're entitled Like you've spoiled them. I get it. You've spoiled them to a certain degree, but they're kind of racist and entitled, which is even worse.

Speaker 2:

It's a shitty city with a lot of stupid people. Right, they just do a lot of winning. I get it win a lot. So like I just think that organization is not ran all that well and if this whole thing with Drake May doesn't work out well, I feel like they're going to be in a huge hole, that they're not going to go things out of which is why they're going to be. It's a pit they're going to fall.

Speaker 1:

They're going to fall, fall they're on the ledge, which is why Drake May is their last little bit of. I doubt he plays this year.

Speaker 2:

No, they keep saying over and over and over again Drake May is not playing.

Speaker 1:

Yep, he's also not playing Michael Penix.

Speaker 2:

True, but at least he's kind of a set. But Atlanta's had moments where they've been good, Like they have.

Speaker 1:

I know, but I'm also looking at Atlanta, like Kirk Cousins is.

Speaker 2:

He is, but also like he's played well.

Speaker 1:

Again the decision to pick up Pennix in the first place. It's crazy. It's crazy. I truly think the Falcons freaked out Because I think Pennix was like a second third-round pick, but then four quarterbacks went off the board and they freaked out, yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I felt like they panicked because they thought they picked up Kirk and they were going to be fine. They were going through the season just fine and I felt like they just fell in love and they could not help themselves. Again, that's not a sign of a good organization. It's not a good sign.

Speaker 1:

It's not a sign of a poorly run organization.

Speaker 2:

Because they could have used a defensive player. That would definitely be helping them right now, but they're still a good football team. Right now, they're picking the litter of defensive players.

Speaker 1:

There was not a defensive. Exactly, and he was for the Chargers.

Speaker 2:

No, the first one was to the Colts, Leatu Latu.

Speaker 1:

I believe was the first defensive player.

Speaker 2:

He's been really good for the Colts.

Speaker 1:

I should know they beat us last game.

Speaker 2:

They did so. Yeah, so the fact that they but again, not least, they have a succession plan with a coach that just got there, with a GM that just got there, they have a plan long term.

Speaker 1:

This young, with a coach that just got there, with a gm that just got there. They have a plan long term. Take it, this new england team does not have a plan. A bunch of games it does. I guess it doesn't hurt you, you get another year. You can go draft, maybe.

Speaker 2:

Receiver and o lineman, another great, another player, but again, you don't need just one you need a couple you need. You need receivers, you need line men, you need uh. Do they even have a tight end you believe in? No, not even a tight end. They have offensively.

Speaker 1:

Ramondre Stevenson, that's it. That's it, and their defense is good.

Speaker 2:

They're well-ran, but do they have other than Christian Gonzalez? Do they really have a bunch of players?

Speaker 1:

So I think we're going to be watching a very, very, very slow bird from the New Zealand team for the next three years of they're going to be building a team.

Speaker 2:

If Drake can be good, that'll be the first good step.

Speaker 1:

They're going to be building a team. So I think if he comes out next year and he's good, then they're going to maybe sign some good role players to fit the team, yeah, and then they're going to draft better. Build slowly and then they'll be a little bit better.

Speaker 2:

And they still have to prove they can draft. They still have to prove they can draft.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it's going to be a very, very, very slow build. Yeah, like we're going to be watching a fucking Browns with Baker type build. They took that fucking, they threw him in there, but they had everything else around him ready to go Yep.

Speaker 2:

Like Totally agree. So New England beating Miami today, tomorrow. Oh yeah, we went on this thing, but Miami New England still wins that game and Tyreek Hill, he like was saying stuff about a trade and I'm like, oh god, no, because apparently people were like starting to get behind the idea of Tyreek Hill potentially going back to the Chiefs after they've had their issues.

Speaker 1:

I swear to god, if I have to fucking watch Xavier Worthy and Tyreek Hill run past them, I will be a Chiefs fan. No, I won't. I can't do that. I can't do that.

Speaker 2:

But no, we can't let that happen, we just can't.

Speaker 1:

I'll fucking switch divisions. I could be a fucking Again.

Speaker 2:

I don't think there's been any actual proof that any of that would actually happen. But again, just the conversation of that happening makes me want to throw up. I could be a Lions fan, I could be a Lions fan. Next game Cleveland going to Washington.

Speaker 1:

Washington by a fucking mile.

Speaker 2:

Washington's on a freaking tear.

Speaker 1:

Cleveland's just been that bad.

Speaker 2:

And Cleveland's been awful. Cleveland has been bad by every sense of the word. Deshaun Watson's been awful by every sense of the word. They have moments where they look like they can play okay and the defense looks like they can be okay. They can't run the football. Deshaun Watson doesn't look like he knows what he's doing on a football field half the time Defensively. Where's your MVP at? Where's your defensive player of the year at? He looks like he barely shows up most of the time. Their own fans are booing them. They're going to Washington, who's a totally different place. They have their young great quarterback. You know what's funny? Deshaun Watson has to look at Jaden Daniels and was like I was you six years ago.

Speaker 1:

I was better than you six years ago.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to say better because Daniels looks amazing right now, but again it was. I was you. Whoa, whoa. Six years ago it was Mahomes and Watson, you're not wrong, you're not wrong, you're not wrong.

Speaker 1:

So six years ago I was better than you. I was better than all of you. It was me versus Mahomes. That is crazy to think. That was just six years ago, bro. Six years ago, half these niggas weren't here and it was you and Mahomes.

Speaker 2:

Dude.

Speaker 1:

I'm not going to let you know that you said that.

Speaker 2:

That's crazy to think about.

Speaker 1:

You had no Joe.

Speaker 2:

Burrow, you were the young hotshot.

Speaker 1:

Holy shit. There was no Joe Burrow. You had a non-starting Josh Allen. You had a very young Lamar.

Speaker 2:

You had none of these current quarterbacks and you was that dude. And you was that dude. You were looked at as wanting to be one of the future pieces of the NFL.

Speaker 1:

They were in college as backups. Some of them were in high school. Some of them were in college as backups, if not starters. Looking at you, like I want to be that guy. And now in the NFL, like damn, I don't want to be near that guy.

Speaker 2:

People were looking up to Deshaun Watson as to being the guy, the quarterback, that made them want to like oh, that's the guy. I want to be in the NFL.

Speaker 1:

You were supposed to arrive at my home the next couple years. And it's funny because he's still in his athletic prime, but he just doesn't like getting the massages.

Speaker 2:

His muscles are too tight. It was the most. That's the.

Speaker 1:

It's the secret sauce, dude the fact you've been trashed since you had. When's the last time you got a massage? I'll be walking with every day. When's the last time we got a massage, bro? Apparently his wife is terrible at it dude she must garbage.

Speaker 2:

It could be the one person he could be doing what he was trying to do with those women. He could do it with her and it could be reciprocated.

Speaker 1:

but she must be terrible at these massages. He's become like you got man hands, bro, Don't touch me. You feel like a lizard.

Speaker 2:

But no, washington's on a different level. Right now, jayden Daniels is playing awesome football Offensively. It is very hard for you to stop them running throwing everything. And again, even if Cleveland's defense does show up, their defense will only give up by the end of the game because their offense isn't good. So insane how that kind of goes. But yeah, washington, better football team. They should win this game, especially at home.

Speaker 2:

Indianapolis going to Jacksonville, jacksonville currently is winless Old boy, trevor Lawrence, is playing awful football. Their defense probably looks like the worst in the NFL. Indianapolis is going to have Joe Flacco being their quarterback because they're saying that Richardson is probably not going to play tomorrow. So I'm going to believe in the old man, joe Flacco. Again. I have to give him his credit because he just beat us last week, so I can't call him Joe Flacco. This week it's Joe Flacco Got to give. Have to give him his credit because he just beat us last week, so I can't call him Joe Flacco this week it's Joe Flacco.

Speaker 1:

Gotta give the old man his respect. You gotta call him Joe.

Speaker 2:

Flacco until he loses Right, or he looks like the Joe Flacco of last year in the Texans game, where he starts throwing a bunch of picks even after having a hot month where he totally implodes in that game. In the playoffs I'm going to go with Indianapolis, so am. I.

Speaker 1:

I see the reason not to.

Speaker 2:

The coach sucks. The coach is going to get fired at some point for Jacksonville. Doug Peterson he's going to get fired. Trevor Lawrence I don't know how not everybody Does that fix it though.

Speaker 2:

No, I don't think that fixes what Trevor Lawrence is right now. They lack offensive pieces. They got rid of some guys and they don't really have the same. They draft the young, uh, wide receiver that played very well, uh, brian robinson jr, but like he's still figuring it out, so like he's not a dominant guy as of yet. So in the they're able to run the football okay sometimes, but it's just not consistent offensive football and, like I said, their defense is already so bad that they pretty much start off in a hole as soon as pretty much every game they get into, because they're just at a deficit. They're just not a good football team whatsoever and their coach is a lame duck coach that's not going to be here much longer. So definitely don't believe in that. One of the probably the game that probably isn't getting talked about enough for being probably going to be a dynamite game. Tomorrow Buffalo goes to Houston. Tomorrow that's going to be an absolute awesome game, again Houston, even though Houston they only have one loss in the season so far. Yeah, they're 3-1.

Speaker 1:

Buffalo's 3-1. Should I put CJ Shroud or Kyler Murray?

Speaker 2:

Who does Arizona play? Arizona plays San Fran.

Speaker 1:

CJ Shroud right yeah.

Speaker 2:

That.

Speaker 1:

Buffalo defense ain't great, they're good. It's not as good as San Fran.

Speaker 2:

They're competent, but San Fran's defense is a little bit harder to face, for sure, yeah, and the way they got beat up last week by Washington, it doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

Speaker 1:

Agreed. Okay, so I have Jaden Reed, xavier Worthy, rashid Shaheed and Marvin Harrison. Marvin in. Should I take any of them out for Tank Dell, zay Flowers or Debo or Tyreek?

Speaker 2:

No, Tyreek.

Speaker 1:

No right.

Speaker 2:

Debo no, he's still coming off the injury. You're not sure what kind of guy you're going to get out of that. He could explode. But again, I'm not confident about that 50-50 ball Right.

Speaker 1:

And then you said Tank Dell, tank Dell or Zay Flowers.

Speaker 2:

I don't like either of them either. Keep what you got in. I have Kenny Walker playing the Giants.

Speaker 1:

Kenny Walker. He was a monster. Last game For Devon Aitken or Brees Hall.

Speaker 2:

They're playing Minnesota, so probably for Brees Hall. Oh, devon Achan too.

Speaker 1:

Brees Hall is in New England, no take out Devon Achan. He's on in-round. Okay, take out Achan for Walker. No, no, keep Walker in. Take out Achan for.

Speaker 2:

Walker yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 1:

Going against New England man. They're going to stop the run. Now I have Rasheed Shahid and Marvin Harrison at flex. Should I take out one of them for HN?

Speaker 2:

No, I don't like HN versus New England, especially if they can't pass the football around.

Speaker 1:

That makes the game against us much more 50-50.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, we do play each other basically this week.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you've just been lining me up to beat you. Thank you, Joe.

Speaker 2:

Hey it, it's fine. I have my guys set for the most part. I'd probably make a note. I have Justin Fields playing quarterback for me as my second guy, but for anybody that doesn't know, we have a two-quarterback league we do and a four-little family league.

Speaker 1:

we do it's all good. I had that boy, kirko change, in my other league, kirko change 34. Oof, yeah, it's awesome. I may actually getting 71 points. What the fuck Buffalo-Houston. Houston. I have to go Houston. Houston's so fucking good.

Speaker 2:

The thing is that Houston their protection of Stroud looks iffy sometimes, which is fine.

Speaker 1:

but again I'm looking at Buffalo D-line. Who do you really have that's going to get after him? You're not wrong. In the same way I'm looking at that second year like you can't stop all of them and Houston can stop the run.

Speaker 2:

They are able to at least play good against the run, and that's what they're best at right now.

Speaker 1:

That's what Buffalo is banking on. They run the ball a lot. They run the football a lot Now, in a way that Buffalo doesn't have enough people in the secondary to stop Nico, nico Collins, tank Dell and Stefan Diggs. You cannot stop them all. It is not fucking possible. Nope, it's the same shit the Bengals did.

Speaker 2:

You can't fucking stop them all and CJ just keeps making plays every game.

Speaker 1:

Somebody's going to get the ball, and if they don't get it, you know what they're going to fucking do they're going to run the bitch, and they can run the ball pretty effectively.

Speaker 2:

And they might be able to get. Mixon back for this, Especially if they get him back. I feel a lot more confident about it.

Speaker 1:

He didn't do bad last game. Cam Akers didn't do as bad as I thought he would. No, he didn't. He didn't do bad, especially off his second ACL.

Speaker 2:

He did not do bad last game, but I have to go with Houston CJ man.

Speaker 1:

They're just an overwhelming force.

Speaker 2:

And again, buffalo's been very good too. I just think, I just believe, and I think if they can get Mixon back, it makes me feel a lot more confident about this. But Houston at home, I think that's probably the difference. Las Vegas going to Denver, las Vegas still trying to trade.

Speaker 1:

Denver, denver, denver A team that's not confident in what's happening.

Speaker 2:

Vegas won last week even with all that issues going on.

Speaker 1:

I know, but now it's apparent to everybody. So I'm going to go Denver.

Speaker 2:

This is in Denver, it's apparent to everybody.

Speaker 1:

So I'm gonna go denver. This is in denver, bonix is playing okay football and that is good enough to beat the raiders, because the raiders are having that, but I think okay is a generous statement yeah, but the raiders have been playing not good.

Speaker 2:

They haven't even been playing okay some days I don't know, they only won last week, but again I think that devontae adams thing has to be a big distraction for this team. Um, they're going to Denver, a team that at least has their defense playing better, I guess, and I think offensively they're able to run the football effectively, even if they can't pass all that well, but again they're facing a Vegas team that still has a bunch of injuries. Yeah, I'll go Denver, why not? I honestly I think these are two teams going in very different directions. Again, I'm not saying Denver is all that much better than what Las Vegas is right now, but I just think Las Vegas just has a little bit of a crisis going on in-house.

Speaker 2:

Next game Arizona going to San Fran. I've kept picking Arizona these last couple weeks and it has not worked out well for me. I'm not going to do it this time, especially against San Fran. I think San Fran keeps getting more and more of their pieces back. Yes, chris McCaffrey still isn't back, but they practically have everybody else. Iuke still needs to kind of get back into things. I just think Arizona, offensively, they have some pieces that do all that well. Obviously, kyler Murray, marvin, harrison, jr. Who's the tight end's name? Arizona, trey, mcbride, mcbride, and then you also have James Conner. Like they have pieces, but I just think defensively they are just so bad. Defensively they can't stop a nosebleed. So I'm just going to go with San Fran. It's just a much safer pick.

Speaker 1:

Agreed. I have to dude. Arizona is good, but their defense isn't great. Their defense is not good at all and against a strong defense like that, they're going to get to them at some point.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, you're not wrong. Next game Green Bay going to the LA Rams LA Rams coming off the bad loss last week. Who did they lose to? Last week? La Rams. Last week they lost to the Bears 24-18. That defense for the Bears isn't all that great. Green Bay coming off of their loss. But they have Jordan Love back. He played decently well last week. Jordan Love's going to have a full week of practice Going to be able to kind of get back in the groove of things.

Speaker 2:

They are going to be without. Who's the wide receiver's name for them? What's his name? Romeo Dobbs, dubbs, dobbs. He's going to be out because apparently he missed a practice. So they have suspended him for a game. So they're going to be without one of their better wide receiver weapons. But here's the thing about their offense their offense isn't predicated off by any one wide receiver. They could just throw anybody out there and they just kind of say, hey, today is your day, you're going to have, you're going to get the ball pretty good, decent amount, and that's how they kind of run their team. Again, I just don't think the Rams defense is going to be able to do enough to stop the green Bay. But again, I do think they're going to be at least the Rams, at least for the first two, three quarters, with Matthew Stafford at the helm with uh, uh, why am I free in the coach's name?

Speaker 1:

Sean McVay.

Speaker 2:

Sean McVay coming in scheming things open. They're going to keep the game close, but I're going to keep the game close but, I am going to pick Green Bay to win the game, you taking Green Bay as well, oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

How many games do we have?

Speaker 2:

left, we got three more.

Speaker 1:

Okay Go play a quick game. Okay, let's play this. It's called Monkey's Paw, so you make a wish.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

And I'm going to make a spin on it to make you regret it.

Speaker 2:

Okay, is it sports wisdom guessing.

Speaker 1:

Wish for anything.

Speaker 2:

Okay, um, I wish I don't know For anything. I feel like this is a trap because it is Alright. I'll just keep it to sports things, because I guess we're on a sports podcast. It's for anything. It's like this is a trap because it is All right. I'll just keep it to sports things. I guess we're on a sports podcast. The Steelers will win the AFC North and make it to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1:

That's all, yeah, not win the Super Bowl Again.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to go crazy here. There is no genie.

Speaker 1:

Just make it to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2:

That's it. So you're going to make me up my own expectations and then ruin it for me. Alright, Steelers win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1:

Steelers win the Super Bowl. It's on the same day of a large terrorist attack that hit the Pentagon.

Speaker 2:

Why would they wait to do that then?

Speaker 1:

It happened right after the Steelers won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2:

But I still win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1:

And millions of people died.

Speaker 2:

How is this a fun game? It's not there's no fun in the game. Do I get to live?

Speaker 1:

You get to watch the Steelers win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2:

Then I die.

Speaker 1:

No, no, everybody in the Pentagon does.

Speaker 2:

Oh, pentagon, I don't know. I wouldn't be probably as sad as I think I'd be, but no, it's definitely not a great situation. I definitely wouldn't feel great.

Speaker 1:

Let's say you were to wish for all the pedos to disappear.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

But they disappear from sight.

Speaker 2:

They're all now invisible Exactly what they wanted.

Speaker 1:

Exactly. This is why this game's fun Joke's on you. I'm now invisible, that's a bad game.

Speaker 2:

Joke's on you, I'm now invisible.

Speaker 1:

No, the game's fun All right.

Speaker 2:

Next game New York Giants going to Seattle.

Speaker 1:

Seattle, the fuck. That's a shitty game.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know right.

Speaker 1:

We were at a Wadden-Denny-Jones, so 45 interceptions. Malik Naim just stared. I'm like bro, what the fuck.

Speaker 2:

Seattle's defense, their strength in their secondary. It's not like the Giants can really run the football right now. Their offensive line is actually playing better, at least protecting Daniel Jones a little better.

Speaker 1:

Better for what?

Speaker 2:

More time in the pocket means more time for him to make mistakes and I think defensively they have moments where their defensive line can come out and play some better football, but their secondary is cheeks and I think against Seattle with oh no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2:

Nope, it's going to come to me, geno Smith. Geno Smith playing better football, being able to run the offense, getting it to his playmakers. I just don't think they have anybody to stop Jason. They don't have anybody to stop DK Metcalf. They don't have anybody to stop Kenny Walker. Don't have anybody to stop the last wide receiver's name, the small guy. I forget his name.

Speaker 1:

Tyler Lockett.

Speaker 2:

Tyler Lockett. See, you had a face like you actually didn't know.

Speaker 1:

I know the names, I know all names.

Speaker 2:

Nope, we had a moment last week. We didn't know and we had to figure it out together.

Speaker 1:

So we have moments.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, the Seattle better team at home. Hostile environment, I don't think the Giants are good enough to win that game. Next game, sunday night Dallas going to Pittsburgh. Dallas without a lot of their weapons that, demarcus.

Speaker 1:

Lawrence isn't playing. I have to pick Pittsburgh, don't I? Yeah, I do.

Speaker 2:

DeMarcus Lawrence ain't playing Michael Parsons, michael Parsons ain't playing.

Speaker 1:

They're going to be without any sort lamb and the offense has been fucking ass with those.

Speaker 2:

They can't run the football. It really is dac.

Speaker 2:

Throwing to cd lamb is their best offense so I'm going pittsburgh yeah, and I think pittsburgh coming off of the loss to the colts, where we've already mentioned that. But I do feel more confident about cj, about uh, why did I say cj stroud? About justin fields? He played well. I think if they allow him to get more the, to open up more of the offense, for him to kind of go out there and make plays earlier on in the game. I'm not saying go away from running the football, keep running the football, but don't let him sit there and be like throwing check downs over and over and over again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, pittsburgh should win that game. Dallas just hurt right now they're not able to do what they have to do. New Orleans going just hurt. Right now they're not able to do what they have to do. New orleans going to kansas city that last game, monday night. Who you got? I'm taking kansas city, no I'm taking kansas city.

Speaker 2:

I'm taking kansas city, I think going new orleans going there is going to be very hard for them to kind of get that win in that hostile environment. Um, I think patch mahomes even without having rashid rice he's going to make patch was going to make mistakes. It's going to make Patrick Long's going to make mistakes. It's going to make you think, oh, this team is so bad. But by the end of the game their defense keeps a minute and then they're going to have a spot to take the ball and go down the field and score either a field goal or a touchdown to win the game. That's exactly what happens, because that's how this whole team works and I just New Orleans being the other team on the other side is Derek Carr going to be able to throw the knockout blow to take out Kansas City? I just don't believe so. Even and especially with their best offense being Alvin Kamara going out there and making plays. Kansas City's rushing defense is very good and they're going to be able to stop that from happening and with that, even with all the other weapons they have on their team they're very much a run-based offense and offense and if they can't do that, derek Carr is not gonna be able to shoulder the load on his own, and I just think Kansas City, being inevitable, is going to be able to make enough plays, win that game, even if they don't look all that great like they haven't. All this all the time this season. All right, and that is all the NFL games. Uh, these the Yankees are currently playing. I just kind of want to give an update on them because we actually do care about the Yankees playing that game. As of right now, yankees are up 4-3. This is game one, the top of the sixth. Hopefully Yankees can get a win in that, win this game in order to get to the AL Divisional and then it gets to the what is it? The ALCS. Hopefully we can do that. We'll kind of give updates to that as we go on the podcast. And Hopefully we can do that. We'll kind of give updates to that as we go on the podcast. And that is about it. So we have a movie to go to, so I'm going to end the podcast here.
