Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of your Brain's Coach podcast. My name is Angela Shurina, I'm your host, I'm your Brain's Coach and it is my job here to bring to you all the best well-researched, cutting-edge, useful, most effective brain-body-work tools so you could take better control of your thoughts, of your emotions and, most importantly, of your actions. So you could take better control of your thoughts, of your emotions and, most importantly, of your actions. So you could get out there and, every day, start building the life closer and closer to the vision that you have in your head. So that's what we all are about, plain and simple getting better, growing, improving to realize as close to our full potential as possible in this life. And, folks, for anyone out there, there's going to be plenty, countless of obstacles in the world and inside of you. And through obstacles, through those obstacles, it's like Ryan Holiday. And through obstacles, through those obstacles, you know, it's like Ryan Holiday. One of the modern popularizer of Stoic philosophy says the obstacle is the way when you have a vision, a great vision for yourself, for your impact in the world. Guess what it's like? A champion in any arena is made by hard training. So if you have a grand vision for yourself and your work obstacles. It's how life prepares you for that vision. So if you want to take on grand vision, don't be surprised that there are going to be plenty of challenges. The bigger the vision, the bigger the challenges. So that's the expectation check-in. If things are hard, they're supposed to be hard to make strong people.
Speaker 1Today, folks, as you guessed, we are talking about confidence and why restoring your confidence is so freaking important to create the right kind of strategy, to take the right kind of consistent action so you get a chance to build the dreams, the goals, the visions that you have in your head. Confidence, folks, you need to be taking care to be taken in with that every single day, sometimes even several times per day, especially through difficulties, through failed attempts, through hard times. Have you ever felt like your confidence was like a flat tire or just something sucked all the air out of it? Maybe failures in your business, your ideas didn't exactly pan out? You get harsh feedback Some of it or a lot of it is true and based in reality, in evidence, in real life and how do you not crawl under the blanket and start taking pity on yourself and instead empower it? Create a strategy, plan of action, different, so you have a chance to make progress and to build yourself and your vision up. How do you do that in the lowest of the lowest moments, when you don't have a lot of confidence and there's plenty of evidence to back up those self-doubts? Like, what do you do? State story strategy. State story strategy. Let's unpack this A combination of Tony Robbins the best of Tony Robbins, albert Einstein, einstein and confidence research is coming to you to deliver two very powerful tools, strategies that will help you to restore, to rebuild that confidence, that internal empowerment, to bump up all of your tires so you could ride into your successes. State story strategy. State story strategy.
Speaker 1Albert Einstein said you cannot solve your problems on the same level of thinking that created it. What was he talking about? Well, he was talking about the person that created the problems needs to change in order for plans to change, in order for action steps to change in order to get different results. The problem with that is when we lose our confidence and we go through a series of failures, the reality is telling us you're not doing it right, and then this evolutionary trick comes into play, where you start feeling down and not energized. It's probably a way of evolution telling you stop, pay attention, like there is something important happened. It didn't go right, so you need to reflect, to stay put for a little bit, to create better action. But it has this double effect when, all of a sudden, you also don't feel like you have what it takes to continue and to take different action and to get different results, because, well, you've just failed. So what do you do with all of that? So what do you do with that flat tire feeling so you could get out there and create different results?
Speaker 1So, stage story strategy that is the phrase that was coined by Tony Robbins, I believe, and what Tony Robbins proved in his own example and working with world-class clients in sports, business arenas, politics. So what he proved is, before you can create a powerful strategy or action plan, first and foremost you need to fix you. You need to change what you're feeling, what you're thinking, in order to create better plans and take better actions. So how do you do that? Not by faking it, that's 100%. What is a state mental emotional state? What is it a state mental emotional state? What is it? It's not some hokey pokey thing that just happens out of thin air. It's actually a cocktail of different chemical reactions happening in your body and in your brain that creates this feeling and thinking state. And so how do you change it? Not changing your thinking, but bottom up, in the most powerful way. Well, what Tony Robbins and all of his world-class clients proved and science shows the same thing you change your bodily state, those chemical reactions, that chemistry, brain-body chemistry, and you change your feelings and you change your thoughts and from there you can create better plans, you can take better actions. So how do you change this chemistry? Well, one very simple and reliable way to do so, even though in the moment you also might not be feeling like it, but when you understand that it's a legit, a sustainable, a consistent way of changing your state so you could create better plan and could take better actions and create better results exercise.
Speaker 1You people reliably say that after exercise, after intense movement, something that makes you sweat and brings you out of your comfort zone a little bit or a lot, after that effort you feel empowered, confident, energized and, most importantly, capable. So exercise, aerobic or strength training, whatever does it for you, whatever gives you that feeling, go and do it. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes, sometimes 15, sometimes 20, sometimes five minutes. Usually the more intense, the faster it's going to take. You Do the exercise and you're going to change the first part of the equation of getting better, of taking better action and creating different results State State story strategy, state story strategy. So exercise, you change the first part. Now you got your mojo back. Now the second step Story.
Speaker 1Let's fix the conversation in your head, that nagging voice that's telling you you've just failed and maybe you are a failure. That's the reason, right. So how do we change this narrative? How do we quiet down this voice and instead turn up the volume on the empowering one that we always have? Well, probably if you haven't been sitting and doing nothing, at which point you should be starting taking action. You did take action, whether in a very close future or a little bit more distant future or not future, but past. You took action and you got some results.
Speaker 1Just, your brain remembers the very recent failure and, especially if it was a painful one, your brain might be fixated on that thing making an elephant out of fly, as in some traditions they say so making it bigger than it is, and just fixating on that recent failure. So you've got to change your focus, you've got to shift it and confidence research. That's been done and been described in, for example, one of the books I read not so long ago, confidence Code. You can Google it, confidence Code. That's the book all about confidence and how to build it up and why, for example, some of us have more of it and some have less, and how to change your confidence equation. So, anyhow, there is this beautiful practice. I give it a name confidence stock, because it's taking the stock of things that will fuel your confidence legitimately, not by faking it, but enlisting all the things that you've done, all the progress, however small, all the work that you put in. Start writing it down, not thinking about that, but writing that down to shift that focus that at the moment might be on your failure.
Speaker 1So what did you do in the recent past, or maybe a little bit more distant past? I showed up for my health every single day. I signed up two corporate clients with very abysmal network. I signed up six new clients. I got them results. I gave 20 plus workshops and talks, one of which, by the way, is on confidence Actually gave quite a few of those online and offline, and the list goes on and on and on. I did this podcast. I have volunteered my time as a coach to quite a few folks to help them out as well, to get back on track, and I've developed my brand a lot more and did quite a few things, being considered as a service provider to the government in a new country where I just moved a year ago. So a lot. Provider to the government in a new country which just moved a year ago. So a lot of things happened.
Speaker 1And again, yes, I failed at quite a few things, I screwed up quite a few things. But guess what, guys, that's not the whole story, that's not your whole story, that's not the whole you. You contain multitudes. So put all of that on paper, however small, however insignificant it might seem. But you did try, you did take action and perhaps you can do it better, more focused, with more attention, because, as Tony Robbins also says, where your focus goes, your energy flows. So confidence stock.
Speaker 1Write down everything that you've been doing, all the examples of in the past, that you are a capable person who can take action and who can change things for the better. That's what we are looking for Feeling of being capable, that you can take action when you commit to it that you can transform your state and circumstances. The smallest achievement and progress enlist it all. You need it right now and the more you write it, the more you get back to that, the more your focus starts to shift to more powerful parts of you and the more quiet the nagging voice gets and more and the empowered one gets, more and more volume. That's how you fix your story State story strategy, story strategy, state story strategy.
Speaker 1You cannot fix your problems at the same level of thinking that created it, albert Einstein. Change your state, change your story and now, when you fixed you or got closer to that, now you can create a better strategy. The thing about stress and failure and all these low states the very insightful and very important thing for all of you to understand is that and what I need to remind myself as well our brain and that's based on research, on science Well, our brain, and that's based on research and science our brain's ability to strategically and creatively think and manufacture new decisions, new solutions, new plans. That ability shrinks the more we feel like we are under stress and pressure. So you literally become a dumb version of you when you don't manage your stress, when you don't manage your state, when you don't manage your story, and that less creative, capable and smart version of you. That's the one you need to make better plan. So that's why first we got to fix our state, we got to fix our story, and then we got to create a better strategy that we are capable of now that we fixed those two things first. So now create the strategy, put action steps in your organizer, in your plan, and then go and get them done. Pick yourself up and build the rest up, and that's about it.
Speaker 1That's what I wanted to share with you today, guys, as always, sharing what I'm learning in my life and what I'm finding the most valuable, while also working with clients. It's not just out of thin air, it's out of real life experience with a personal or professional, and the latest and best research out there. So, guys, if you're feeling like you have one or all of the flat tires, this is how you pump them back up, without faking it, but with legitimate science and experience back strategy. So pick yourself up to build the rest up and go, get out there. You are capable of doing great things.
