My Existence is Political: On "apolitical privilege" & the importance of grassroots activism | Political Determinants of Health Series Pt. 1

Caitlyn Season 2 Episode 6

Hey y'all! Im happy to finally bring you a new episode of Candidly, Caitlyn!

I am so excited for this episode with Thenedra of @raisingtherootsboys on IG. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you’re aware of my new series on the political determinants of health, examining the known & unknown policies and laws which affect our health. The series will also take place here on my podcast, as I bring on guests to speak on issues like the housing crisis, minimum wage, universal healthcare & more.

In this first episode, I got to speak with Thenedra, a mother of 3 boys, about the importance of politics in our lives as Black women. We talked about when we became politically involved, the privilege of being “apolitical” and the importance of local elections and activism.

I’m so excited to share this episode with you all, and make sure to drop a review or comment to let me know what you think when you finish. I’ll be featuring my guests on my podcast as the series continues, so I hope you’re excited to listen!
