The premise of the book is to open up the discussion on clarifying the role of HR in an organisation, what it should be doing and the outputs to be expected from it.
Along the way, it examines current perceptions of the function and suggests an action plan to raise its value all round.

1. Perceptions of HR activities and our reply
2. HR makes the organisational policies and rules.
3. HR is the employees’ champion.
4. HR is about managing the people and hiring and firing them.
5. HR is responsible for employee performance.
6. HR is responsible for absence levels in the organisation.
7. HR takes the lead on organisational culture and morale.
8. HR administers salaries, pension funds, medical insurance, and car fleets.
9. HR organises Christmas parties and social events (and wraps all the
presents.)
