The HURDLE we jump on our KNEES S1e78 Gen 15:6
Historically significant; spiritually significant: What God Does for Abram He promises to do for me.
If not, I am in big trouble. I don’t have the earning power to make it to heaven. Too far above my paygrade. Cannot otherwise, without His putting the thumb on my scale of justice, have a relationship with Him.
I need God’s help to have access to a relationship with Him.
Gen 15: 6 And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
I need God’s crediting. I need to participate in this miraculous exchange of my littlefaith for his big crediting; my faith, His faithfulness. My belief His Holy life.
This faith is the pattern for every believer that follows.
Faith is the basis of salvation. Not works not effort. Not family history. Not nationality. Not wealth. Not devotion. Not tithing. Not the LAW (hundreds of years before the law was even given!), Not obedience.
This is God’s PROMISE to us. This is a promise that either I believe in today, or I don’t.
This is how unfavorable people enjoy the favor of God…by faith
This is how the heavenly math equation works.
This is the way that humans are put right before God
Gal3: 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?
7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.
Why talk about this at length. Because your spiritual life depends specifically on this. There is no plan B. There is no Christianity without this promise. “I got you. I am going to help you. I am going to put my thumb on the scale of justice when you are judged.”
I am going to credit you with a righteousness that you do not possess
I am going to give you a standing that you do not have******
I am going to provide you an access to me that you don’t deserve**
I am going to give you, Abram and those that follow you in your FAITH FAMILY, a right standing with me. I am going to give you ME.
What you NEED, only I can provide. What you will be satisfied in, is only me.
Prayer:
I would like to have the faith of Abram. I believe.
I would like to be a SON of ABRAM and to do so by joining THOSE OF FAITH
Before the fulfillment of any promise: no land, no child, no heritage before any big answers, YOU GET ME. The essential thing. The be with me.
Maybe you say, I have a. sin burden that God would never want me?
“If God knew my sin He’d never want me…”********* GOOD!
You come from an inadequate, sin-bearing family.
He tells us of the sin of David, of Peter, of Paul, and here of Abram, of Saraiwhy? To tell you that in that way too you are family!
You are not alone in your sinfulness
We all wear filthy rags to a splendor party****
THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO BE
You are ½ way there. KEEP GOING.
You understand that you do not possess SELF-righteousness.
Our sinfulness should not keep us from the heavenly altar, but should launch us TO the altar.
Where else are you going to go? More sin? More drink? More anger? More outof boundary sex? More Pride? More self?
Where else are you going to effectively go? Nowhere. Nobody.
Don’t stop there. I believe. I believe in WHAT exactly?
That it is by faith that I get enough credits to be right before God
I believe; He does the heavy lifting and yes helps with the faith too.
This is the essential element of coming to God. MUST come by FAITH.

I want faith. And of course, you want enough, enough to make it across the finish line…
He promises to help you 2 Corinthians 6:2
2 For he says,
“In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
On our knees because our life depends on this
