Belize | Eco-Tourism and Sustainability
Sustainability & Environmental Specialist Jordan Flagel shares the story of TREE Explorations, his eco-tourism tours in the Amazon jungle, how to offset carbon emissions and where are we heading with the future of travel and tourism.
TREE Exploration provides life-changing experiences in nature and actionable change in the environment in Belize, Guyana, and Jamaica. TREE was originally created out of a master’s thesis that focused on how ecotourism could be used to further the conservation of tropical rainforests. It was named Tropical Rainforest Education & Exploration, with a fitting acronym for a group of tree-lovers. Although the trips are still focused in the tropical rainforests of Belize, Guyana, and Jamaica, their goal to improve sustainability has a worldwide focus, with an emphasis on shifting energy sources and sequestering carbon. Tree Exploration is a Founding Partner and Signatory of Terra Incognita’s Ethical Ecotourism Code of Conduct.
