On today's episode of Yours Mentally we talk about mental health accessibility for minorities in India. This episode is in conversation with Dr Shruti Chakravarty who is a therapist and the chief advisor at Mariwala Health Initiative.

TW: Mention of suicide

We begin the episode by asking Shruti that people often say that “mental health is a privilege. What is your opinion on that?
We then ask if a campaign conducted for the welfare of marginalised communities generally include a mental health check-up? Why or why not?
We also ask if there are certain mental health illnesses that are more prevalent in marginalised communities? Which ones and why?
We talk about what kinds of systemic barriers and problems does Mariwala as an organisation face while advocating for mental healthcare for people below the poverty line?
We then discuss how has Mariwala made mental healthcare more accessible for marginalised communities and how it has contributed to raising the stigma around mental health.
We ask Shruti what can we as privileged people do to aid mental healthcare for the marginalised communities?
We also talk about how has Mariwala Health Initiative helped the LGBTQIA+ community specifically?
Lastly, we ask, what is Mariwala’s vision for the next few years? What change do they hope to bring?
