Speaker 1

And welcome to another episode of the Gamer Heads Podcast. My name is Roger Along with me. This week we have the full cast back. Mike is back from prison.

Speaker 3

Welcome, mike. I'm a hardened man, roger, being in prison, being in prison, I'm out, though I'm out yeah, I made it out two weeks, two weeks in prison, no three weeks yeah, it was a rough. Did you get any new way three weeks?

Speaker 2

what was that? Did you get any new ink?

Speaker 3

oh yeah, yeah, I got a. Uh, I got a teardrop on my butt. That's not where you should be crying from Mike. Yeah, that jail, that prison boy, that's rough out there, have you been.

Speaker 1

It turns you into a different person altogether?

Speaker 3

No, I haven't. But.

Speaker 1

I hear that you talk to Dominic Mysterio and you two have a lot in common. It sounds like.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah. You know we both got deadbeat dads and we both have terrible hair Damn.

Speaker 2

And a sweet little pimp stash.

Speaker 3

You're rocking there, mike, just like Dom is these days. I see it looks nice.

Speaker 2

You look like you could be a matador.

Speaker 3

We both have a crush on Alexa Bliss.

Speaker 2

Well, that's Alexa Bliss, isn't she still on?

Speaker 3

the show Liv Morgan. That's right, we both got a crush on Liv Morgan.

Speaker 2

Blonde girl short, you know.

Speaker 3

I got a crush on her too, but it's bad out there in the prison system. It's as bad as they said it was. Everything that they told you about prison is true, like, for example well, you know, when you first go to prison, they call you new meat.

Speaker 1

So you immediately have a target. This isn't your first time, though, Mike. This isn't your first time.

Speaker 3

No, no, no, this is my first time in this prison, oh okay, okay, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got a punch card. Yeah, but this place was brutal. So, for example, when I first got there, the inmates they were putting on their performance of Les Miserables and they were having auditions and I nailed Jean Valjean, you know.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 3

And I did great. But then, you know, a bunch of them came out to me. They're like, hey, nice, try new me, you're not playing Jean Valjean somebody. And I'm like what the heck? I thought I nailed her. And they're like, yeah, well, guess what? You get to pull the rope. That does the curtain.

Speaker 1

So I'm like all right, fine.

Speaker 3

Like so I'm like all right, fine man. I'm like all right, well, I don't want to make anybody mad. So I ended up doing that. So it's like opening night. So I'm sitting there, I've got the curtain, I've gotten ready to pull the ropes open the curtain, I'm going to hey, I'm going to pull the hell out of this curtain. And then a few of them came up and stabbed me. So yeah, it's just as bad as you'd think.

Speaker 1

But it sounds like there's some culture going on there.

Speaker 3

Oh, no, no, they didn't even put on the show. It was all just a ruse so they could stab me. There were two weeks of song and dance and they had me going. Man, I thought we were all set to put on Les Miserables. They did though.

Speaker 2

Then you caught a shiv.

Speaker 1

That's not a prop, shiv. You did the whole dress, rehearsal and everything.

Speaker 3

We did the whole dress rehearsal. We had the costumes.

Speaker 1

That was really playing. I mean, they really played into that man.

Speaker 3

It was a full house yeah.

Speaker 1

So, Well, I'm glad you're back In a life, I'm so you're back in a life, I'm so glad Thanks for keeping the seat warm for me. You're welcome. And then, of course, we have our CEO and president.

Speaker 2

We have.

Speaker 1

Phil, I have zero following.

Speaker 2

I don't even know why I'm here. We got Mike back.

Speaker 3

I should probably just exit stage right, but I hear that's where they've got the chance to step over my body when you're oh well, oh weird.

Speaker 1

I just got an alert for a job opening for a curtain anchor uh well, welcome everybody to the show, welcome to our patrons matt, jill and sarah, and you can also support the gamer heads podcast listener. For as low as three dollars a month, you can support our independent game journalism and help mike get out of jail. Uh, as well in the process, like we actually talked about that a couple weeks ago, maybe last week or a week before. We talked about how we spend all our patreon money to get you out of jail every, every time we go to jail.

Speaker 3

I know I I listened to the episode I heard you, did you really?

Speaker 2

you're a better man than I am yeah, no, it was.

Speaker 1

It was a good episode, it was a fine episode thank you, yeah, so, uh, yeah, if you want to join the gamer heads uh nation, you can do so by going to our patreoncom slash gamer heads podcast and uh donating there or signing up there, and I'll put a link in the show notes as well so you can support the show and support independent game journalism guys before well, we can say something. Mike, will you say something?

Speaker 1

I'm sorry yeah, they get support me too well, that's true, that's true, yeah, yeah, I mean it's actually, we're in the hole. We're actually like we'd say yeah, that's true. That's true, we're, we're. We actually are in debt because of your antics, yeah, so yeah, I get, yeah, I got.

Speaker 3

I do a lot of stuff that puts me in jail yeah, so yeah it's silly. You know yolo right. It's weird you thing you know YOLO right.

Speaker 2

It's weird. You would have thought of the three of us, the one of us that would end up in jail repeatedly would be me, but it turns out it's Mike. It's super weird the way this all works out, yeah.

Speaker 3

I lose my temper pretty quick, and that usually winds me up in the stony lonesome every once in a while.

Speaker 1

That's what I call my bedroom. Oh uh. Well, guys, before we get into, uh, all the things we're gonna be talking about today, uh, I do have an icebreaker. I had something. Wait, you do we know. Wait, well, do you know I did, but I don't remember it. Oh okay, well, that was helpful, so do you want me to tell you a story? Okay, sure, yes, go ahead.

Speaker 2

I don't actually have a story, oh okay, Story time with Mike is after the icebreaker. Mike follow the format. God damn it. That's right.

Speaker 3

That's right Story time, story time.

Favorite Relaxing Video Games

Speaker 1

So, icebreaker, here's your icebreaker. What is your go-to game when you need to de-stress or unwind?

Speaker 2

Why are you asking me this question?

Speaker 1

Well, I know yours, but it's still fun to ask the question, isn't it? I mean, isn't?

Speaker 2

it. You just want me to go first, yeah sure Phil yeah. So what? I'm not trying to think and I'm trying to de-stress from my hard, hard, grueling day of work, of slaving over the mine pit, snope over the flat top or a grill or a fryer or a pizza station, or just pacing around with a clipboard. I come home and I play countless hours of either MLB, the Show or Overwatch. It's almost like I say I play these every day.

Speaker 1

I know that's true, and week, which also now gets me to be a little worried about how stressed out you are if you're playing that every day.

Speaker 2

Have you seen my beard?

Speaker 1

Do you walk around with a clipboard at work? Is that a?

Speaker 2

true statement. Uh, it depends what I'm doing, yeah, but like, if I'm doing inventory orders, yeah, I've got a clipboard in my hand. Do this immediately makes you look more important yeah, or if I'm doing like temperature checks and prep lists and shit like that. Yeah, I walk around with clipboard. I spent fair shake of my day with clipboard in hand. Wow, that's pretty badass you walk around, you walk around.

Speaker 1

I know you walk around gamer heads with a clipboard. I didn't know you did that as a chef as well.

Speaker 2

So here's the fucked up part is that I look, what you see right now is what I look like at work, just without the headphones in, like blue Cubs stocking hat sweatshirt on until I making food. Like my day-to-day appearance doesn't change much, or my attitude or the way that I talk like it's what you see is what you get, what you hear is what you get.

Speaker 1

It's not easy I know that's what I love about you, phil, is that you're authentic. That's what they call it. That mike, what is your go-to de-stressor unwinding game?

Speaker 3

yeah, I can't follow that. It's it's.

Speaker 2

It's too funny lines into, yeah, into stone with the, with this homemade, yeah, that's what I do?

Speaker 3

Yeah, I make.

Speaker 2

It's called chicken scratch.

Speaker 3

I'm good at digging out out of the prison walls and stuff. No, I distress with Fall Guys because I could just be mindless with that and I'll usually put on some music or something while I'm doing that and then another one that really helps me de-stress really helps me. De-stress is a tetris effect.

Speaker 1

Oh, connected I can see that, yes, that's on very trippy. The music is great do you have that on vr? Because on vr now too of course I have it on vr. That's the only way to play, yeah I think it's on, I think it's on the meta quest plus right, isn't it I?

Speaker 3

don't know, I bought it anyway so okay, speaking of which, I don't know if you had it, but um, right now for star wars. Uh, star wars pinball is on sale for like eight bucks on the meta quest store.

Speaker 1

It's good all right.

Speaker 2

Well then, never mind, you have it is that from the people that do pinball fx?

Speaker 1

yes, it's really good, and I think the star wars one. I think the people that do pinball FX, yes, it's really good, and I think the Star Wars one. I think the triggers actually do work as the buttons on the flippers.

Speaker 1

Yeah, because the because the the FX ones, it doesn't. And I understand why because I think your fingers would get pretty tired if it act like flippers, right, so you're a bitch, wow, well, I mean flippers, right, so you're a bitch, wow, well, I mean they act like I shouldn't say that the actual flippers I'm saying you actually have to hit the like, put your hands up to the flippers to make it look like it's you're actually doing the flippers, I think oh, okay, I got.

Speaker 1

You have to have them like elevated you can't just have them down by your side whereas the fx one you don't have to, but the star wars ones I'm pretty sure you have to actually have your hands up by, like make it look like you're actually using the flippers, and I think you can play that with controller less as well, just hand or motion control, I think. But don't call me on that.

Speaker 3

I won't.

Speaker 2

Mike, to kind of piggyback off of what you said, not to cut you off at the knees, roger. That's one of the reasons why I also do play the show is because, like when you said, you can play fall guys and listen to music or whatever, like, I play the show and listen to podcasts. Yep, just not. I don't need to hear the commentator anymore. Why do I need to listen to it? I'm here. It'd be like yelling into a canyon and expecting a different result. I don't need to do that.

Speaker 1

I know what the canyon's going to say back to me. That's fair. I don't listen to our podcast either.

Speaker 2

I really don't actually you have to you partake once and you've got to listen to it again when you're ready there is no need for you to listen to it again.

Speaker 1

That is a good point. Uh, for my wait. Was there anything else? Mike was that? Was that? It was that you're a de-stressor. The fall guys pga golf. That's a good game. That's a good game it is I get into that one too quite often. Uh, I know I said this last time you were on the show, but uh, mini golf, vr, mini golf game, that's, oh yeah, walkabout mini golf game.

Speaker 3

That's a walkabout mini golf.

Speaker 1

That's a good distressing game For me. Actually, there's a couple of games hidden in time game.

Speaker 3

Oh, that is a good one too.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you sit back, good call, you don't have to think much. It's really relaxing. I like that game A couple of new games that just got added to my distressor list Stitch. So it just came out last week on the Switch I think. I think it was on Apple Arcade before, but basically it's a puzzle game where you're stitching together. It makes it look like you're stitching together like pictures, right, like, and like there's harder puzzles, but you can play easier puzzles and that's really relaxing.

Speaker 1

Let's Revolution is pretty relaxing as well If you play on the easier mode. If you play on a harder mode it's not as relaxing, but you can play an easier mode, then it's pretty relaxing and it's fun and I like enjoying that game. You can play an easier mode, then it's pretty relaxing and it's fun and I like, uh, enjoying that game. And then the new one that I just got into, uh, and I just interviewed graham reed who made this game. It's a super space club. It's on the xbox and that game is super chill. And, uh, it's like a arcade space shooter with really, really good music.

Speaker 3

Wait a minute. Does it play like Geometry Wars?

Speaker 2

That's exactly where my brain went to.

Speaker 3

How on earth could it be relaxing if it plays like Geometry Wars?

Speaker 1

I don't know. I think it's the music. It's the music. It's just a laid back kind of game. It's fun. I should say the music is laid back, um, but it's not one of those games you have to like concentrate. You can kind of just be in the groove right and just be in the moment. Yeah, that's what I really like about the game. Um, yeah, the music just puts you in this chill vibe, like and yeah, I I would highly recommend people going to get that game on the Xbox. It's on Steam too, but it just came out on the Xbox last month and it was actually one of IDX at Xbox's highlights of April. So that is a game to go check out.

Speaker 3

One thing I didn't I wanted to throw out there, and this is something all three of us can agree on, because we throw this game out there every once in a while.

Speaker 2

Bellatro.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, Bellatro a while balatro oh yeah, balatro.

Speaker 3

No well, balatra, yeah, but a different, another one. Come on, we all know it balatro ding dong, oh ding dong xl.

Speaker 1

That's a good game too, that's true, yeah it's funny because, like ding dong, xl and balatro are like two games that I will never like delete from my switch because of the fact that those are just games I go back to.

Speaker 1

Bellatro is so good to go back to, though, too, but the problem with the problem with Bellatro though I sit down, I'm like I'm just gonna play one game, and then, like three hours later, I'm like, oh my God, I played three hours of this game. What the heck. Oh, just one more. Just one more this game. What the heck? Oh, just one more. Just one more. I could do it.

Speaker 2

Just do what it's another two hours. What the hell just happened, dude, that even happens to me with the show, because it's all like, because I've been playing it for so long, it's all just muscle memory, where I don't think about anything. I just do things and like all of a sudden, like I'll be listening to a two-hour podcast and I'll be on the. I'll be two and a half episodes deep and I'm like whoa, whoa, all right, I should probably stand up and make some food. All right, I'm calling it a night, yeah.

Speaker 1

There's very few games that do that for me, but for sure, bellatro is one of those games that just all of a sudden, I just lose track of time. Yeah, it's very good. But yeah, ding Dong XL is a very good game. It's, yeah Like I like that game a lot and that, yeah, very chill game. Uh, okay, before we get into games of may did, did you, did one of you really have a story that you want to tell? Is there a story time?

Speaker 2

mike, does you really?

Speaker 1

have a story besides your time in prison.

Speaker 3

We already covered that, so well, roger, yeah, like, of course, I have a story, and this is not me joking around. This is I'm gonna tell the story of what happened to me over the past couple weeks.

Speaker 2

I thought we already covered. You have my attention do you?

Speaker 3

did you cover it on the show? I don't think we covered it on the show, because I need to give this word of warning to as many people as possible wait, you're going to prison. We covered that already no, real life oh, not prison stuff okay what happened to me in the real world.

Speaker 1

No, what happened to you in the real world?

Speaker 2

I said what happened in the real world, roger okay.

Speaker 3

So we were. I was going out, I was taking the wife and son out to get, uh, some ice cream and all of a sudden we both on our phones, started getting notifications oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry, yes, yes, yes, that's all right.

Speaker 1

That's okay, sorry I actually thought about this before we started recording, and then I forgot to ask you how are you doing so?

Speaker 3

yeah, no, everything's going good now, happy, everything's good, but but basically what happened? What happened was, uh, I'm not going to get into a huge long story, but but basically a lot of our stuff was hacked, and it was because of that stupid AT&T breach. Oh no.

Speaker 2

Is that what it all came back to?

Account Hacking Nightmare and Recovery

Speaker 3

That's what it came back to. So somebody got into my main email and started going into everything that was connected to that account Same thing with my wife. They were going into everything that was connected to that account. Same thing with my wife. They were going into everything. They were changing email addresses, and this was on Sunday afternoon, I think.

Speaker 1

Oh shoot.

Speaker 3

And everything was taken from me. Everything my Xbox account, my Nintendo account, my son's Fortnite account, which he spent the last eight years building up. All of it was taken and for the next two, three days it was an absolute panic of trying to get all this stuff back. Trying to get all this stuff back. So I got a hold of Comcast, you know, and updated a lot of information, at&t, a lot of information. I got to say this major shout out to Nintendo and Microsoft for being able to recover my accounts for me. Recover my accounts for me. Nintendo, they needed to get some information from me to verify that the Switch was mine. So then they put a hold on the account and I had to do some changes and everything like that.

Speaker 3

Microsoft was worse, though. Microsoft, that account was going to be gone. Luckily, luckily, I kept my Xbox and S in sleep mode and not full shutdown. So it automatically went back into my Xbox account and it showed a different email address. So they logged into my Xbox account, changed the email address and they refunded pretty much every purchase that I bought over the past six months so they could put money onto my account, so they could sell the account to somebody else what I ended up doing to the awesome person at Microsoft and I wish I had their name or something, because they did an amazing job. Basically, they deactivated the account, but then I had to create a new Microsoft account and they transferred all my profile info to the new email address of the new Microsoft account. So I got to save all cause I would have lost all my purchases, all my money that I had on the account, everything. So I got everything back. Thank goodness I got everything back. The only thing that I lost were my microsoft rewards points, which I had built up a good amount of those, but you know what I'm, they were free points.

Speaker 3

So, um, the worst, like the worst, the hardest was was epic games. Um, and that's the, the, you know the fortnite people, because they took my wait. Did they take? No, no, I had my account linked, but it was my son's account and that's what worried me the most, because this was very important to him. And I was looking on Reddit and I heard nothing but horrible things about Epic's customer service Horrible, horrible things. So I go online and I do their talk to the person. The virtual chat with a real person, chat with a real person, the biggest asshole I had ever met in my and I don't swear the biggest asshole I had ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my entire life this part and I am begging, and I said that I am begging you, I need your help. Is there anything else I could do for you today?

Speaker 3

yeah you could fucking help me it was. It was the. I was like so and I screenshotted everything, all the responses that this guy gave, and it was just like if somebody, if I was in, if this person was under me as a supervisor, I'd kick them right out the door. The moment I saw that, like, this person didn't care one bit. Five minutes later I tried again. I got another person. Over the next four days or so, this person helped me out. I got my son's account back.

Speaker 1

Nice.

Speaker 3

But it was a very, very difficult process. We had to prove that the account was his through. We had to take pictures of past purchases. So, luckily and I don't remember how he was able to get on, I think it was through his PlayStation was still logged in or something like that. But we took pictures of every single purchase he made. Oh, it was his PlayStation purchase history. So they're like oh, here's your proof, You've shown us proof that you made all these purchases, so we're going to give you back the account. So we get the account back in. He logs on, his skin had changed his you know his character. His character had changed his back. Uh, bling had changed everything like that. And guess what? It was changed to the rarest items he had. So whoever was stealing this was going to try to sell the Fortnite account.

Speaker 3

They, they, they put on the the rarest skins that he had. Take a picture and try to sell it. Oh my gosh, so it so. And then it actually even I. I even got actually even today, just today, my wife got a notification from Microsoft that said, um, you know, um, here's your verification code. Somebody, somebody, just tried to log in. So here's your verification code.

Speaker 3

And the good thing is about with her, with her account we, we bought a laptop like seven years ago, and we just created a microsoft account for her. There was no money on it, no, nothing, right, she had the, the verification. So we, um, I went on and I changed her password just to be safe. And then I logged on her account today and I saw, over the past two weeks, like 15 failed attempts to log in and it was Brazil, south Korea, china, singapore, there was one in Little Rock, like from all over these places trying to log in. So, thanks to AT&T and their piss poor management, it just caused a week and even ongoing of headaches, but thank God I got everything back.

Speaker 3

So what I'm telling to all you listeners please take the time, go to every account that you have saved on, especially your Nintendo, and, whatever. Make a password that is super long, super long. Make your password that is different from every other password that you've got. If you have to write it down, I write it down. Make sure you enable two-factor authentication. It doesn't matter if it's annoying that you get a text or you have to go into the authenticator app. I guarantee you, I could tell you from experience it's a lot better than what I had to go through.

Speaker 3

Yeah, so I've, I went in and I updated everything. So the good thing is they didn't get into our bank account, yeah, jesus. So, which is good, but we've got the protection and fraud protection and everything on our bank account, but the headache that it caused and on the almost nightmare that it would have caused, especially for my son, that was the worst part. Um, it is. Uh, like you know, I was waking up at two in the morning, my heart racing, and I'm checking my phone just to be safe. You know it, it it did a number on me. So, um, I'm just saying like to, especially if you have an AT&T account, um, make sure you're going in and updating everything that you have associated to your email.

Speaker 1

How did you what we tipped off? Was it just that there was purchases being?

Speaker 3

made. No, we got a notification that says oh, it said it was a notification from our email provider saying you've added somebody to your email account, or something like that. It was like it was like a verification email and if we didn't have it set up for notifications, we would never would have never would have gotten anything. So oh my god it was, uh, it was an absolute nightmare. An absolute nightmare, but but everything's all good now.

Speaker 1

Now through like AT&T.

Speaker 3

Well, there was a big data breach at AT&T where they stole a bunch of emails, social security numbers, everything like that. Oh, and another thing Make sure you call Equifax. Call Equifax and put a freeze on your social security number, so that way nobody can try to take out credit accounts in your name, because you can always temporarily unfreeze it if you want to get, like, a new car or new credit card or something. Wow. So I learned a lot about taking care of yourself financially and stuff like that. Yeah, I'm sorry you went through all that.

Speaker 1

I know that was very stressful for you, yeah it was.

Speaker 3

But you know what, hey, if my story can help at least one person protect themselves so it doesn't happen to them, then, hey, you know what I'll take that hit yeah.

Speaker 1

Wow. So Well, I would like to say it was. You know I mean it sucks, I was hoping for a happier story. Know, I mean it sucks, I was hoping for a happier story, but I mean, at least everything's good now.

Speaker 3

So it is Well. I mean, it was a good ending, so like having a massage chair.

Speaker 2

It's a happy ending.

Speaker 1

There you go Unbelievable. Okay, I don't even know how to transition out of that, mike, honestly, so I'm just going to try. No problem, let's look at games that are coming out in May. So we'll pull up the list here.

Speaker 2

I was about to say in other good news there's video games coming out this month, holy hell.

Speaker 1

There's a lot of games coming out this month. Oh my God, mike, I'm just just gonna start with you. What, what are, like your top three games that you're most looking forward to this month of may?

May Game Picks and Current Playthroughs

Speaker 3

oh god three. I think I could only find two, really, uh, yeah well, that's fine. That's fine too, yeah well, well, of course, the first one is going to be paper mario, the thousand year door. Yeah, so it's another game that I can't wait to purchase and then not play it for six to seven years. Um the other one what was the other one.

Speaker 3

Hold on a second. It's around here somewhere and I maybe that was it. Maybe it was just that one. Oh yeah, system Shock. I never played System Shock and I heard good things about it, so I think I'm going to pick that up. That comes out on May 21st and then yeah, that's it. Yeah, I got nothing. Man To me. Yeah, there's a lot of games this month, but nothing that really interests me. Nothing man To me. Yeah, there's a lot of games this month but nothing that really interests me, oh man.

Speaker 1

Well then, I'll make up for it.

Speaker 3

All right, you do that. Well, you do four, then you can pick four.

Speaker 1

I can pick more than four. If you need me to, I can pick quite a few here Before I give my talks though. Phil, what are yours, what are your picks?

Speaker 2

I though, phil, what are yours, what are your picks? I, too, have system shock on my list, because I never played it and, being the big fan of bioshock that I am, it feels like the right thing to do and play. Uh, as discussed with jill and yourself, little kitty big city, which I also saw, is coming to game pass, so that'll be free to play, which is even better. Um, also on jill's recommendation, if I feel like turning on my switch, maybe I'll grab laura lee, laser eyes or whatever the hell the name of that game was, and then I have no idea what it's about, but the name of it sounds intriguing, so I'm also have Crow County or country on my list.

Speaker 2

Don't know what it is and probably not in my my, what I would normally play. But you know what? I'm throwing it out there because it sounds like it could be something cool.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it it looks like a playstation one type horror game. That's what it looks like, okay, yeah, yeah, uh, those are good picks there. Uh, for me, um, I would also say the paper mario game I never played the original yeah, I never played the original one, so that's kind of exciting. Sorry, mike.

Speaker 1

I said sorry Don't make me do that Baladins. I got to play that at PAX East. Baladins is really fun. It's like Paper Mario, like looking, like the look of it, but it's RPG and it really leans into the RPG. You roll dice in this game and if you don't roll high enough dice then you don't get the skill that you need to do to succeed at that task. And it's a time loop mechanic too, which is very cool. So that's Balladins. That's coming out on May 15th. A Little Kitty, big City, may 9th. A lot of games coming out on May 9th. Amow city, may 9th. A lot of games coming out on may 9th ammo well, may 9th. Uh, cruel country. On may 9th. Like. Those are all games I'm looking forward to. Uh, and I'll say this other one here duck detective, the secret salami. Uh, that game it looks very cute too. So you're a duck and you're like a salute, like detective, detective, yeah.

Speaker 3

Is there some kind of meat involved in this, maybe like?

Speaker 1

a salami. Yeah, maybe Is it a secret? I don't know, I would think so, but it's, it's. It's made by oh boy, I can't remember the company's name. Well, I'll just look at it real quick here. Happy Broccoli Games. And yeah, they did. I don't know if you guys played this game or not, but they did. Kraken Academy I reviewed that game. It was really good, so I'm looking forward to this one as well. So, yes, the games of May. I guess we can transition to then games that we're currently playing. And, phil, I'll start with you.

Speaker 2

What games are you currently playing? I already talked about them.

Speaker 1

Nothing else.

Speaker 2

Well, that's not 100% true, not even close to 100% true, but I'm saying it is. I finished SpongeBob Okay, oh nice, not even close to 100, true, but I'm saying it is, um, I finished spongebob okay, oh nice, not 100, but I wrapped up the entire story mode and all that kind of good stuff. But again, I'm saying it's worth playing through. If it's on game pass, it's worth playing through. I'm gonna dive into my next children's game after this. Don't know what it is. Maybe I'm kind of actually in finishing mode so I might finish up. God damn, I can't believe I finished alan wake. I'm gonna finish up alan wake this week. That is my big goal for the week. Okay, um, outside of that, it's not that I have anything against alan wake. I just have a problem with finishing games because I get so close to the end I'm like, well, I just don't want it to stop. So I know right, so I just don't finish and it's stupid and it's dumb I do the TV shows too.

Speaker 1

It's so moronic, I do the same thing, just finish the game, be done with it.

Speaker 2

Delete it, clear up the space in your hard drive and go on with your day. I also did start Jedi Survivor.

Speaker 1

Oh nice.

Speaker 2

The new one, nice, yeah, whatever the newer one is, as soon as I started it up I remembered exactly how much I enjoyed the first one. Oh shit, it is just called survivor. I remembered exactly how much I enjoyed the first one and how tight the gameplay actually is. I'm really really into it probably only about an hour, so I can't discuss it too heavily, but it's also been out for a year and a half, so I'm not telling anybody anything that they don't know. Um, but again, lots of fun. Playing as a jedi looks dope soundtrack is amazing. Don't even know what else to say about it.

Speaker 2

I did complete another level of Evil West, yeah, of which I'm now probably 70% done with the game. I don't have many bad things to say about it, except it's kind of janky in spots and the frame rate drops in spots. But it's like playing Bulletstorm, which is not a bad thing. I thought Bulletstorm was a highly underrated game. I think that was from People May Fly was the studio on that? One Couldn't tell you who made Evil West, but it's got those vibes with some zombie or some vampire action.

Speaker 2

Same style of gameplay, not as duck and covery as a Gears of War, but it also feels very similar to Gears of War as well. Couldn't really tell you what's going on in the story, except that your family has been hunting vampires for years. I dig it. I'm going to keep playing it. I'm going to finish this game. There's no doubt about that one. Again, I'm just now on my quest to finishing things, which is why I don't understand why I started Jedi Survivor, except for the fact that I've got OCD. But here we are. Yeah, I think that's about all that I've really been playing.

Speaker 3

Nice, nice that is quite a few games, so cool. Uh, mike, what about you? What have you been playing? Uh, I also played some evil west. Uh, I just did the prologue chapter, so, um, and I just started the second level. I guess you could say so, there's no I, I that's about as far as I got, so, um, and then so yeah, and I agree with everything. It's fun, it's, it's definitely pretty basic and I like that. Um, you know, you don't have to worry about micromanagement, which is awesome.

Speaker 3

Nope, you just go from point a to point b, chain attacks kill uh vampires in gruesome ways and, uh, I like the, uh, the characters are very interesting, like they're, they're memorable, they're colorful, so, um, and we, I haven't seen a game like that. It's almost, it's almost like borderlands ish, just without the cheese actually. No, it's pretty cheesy not take that back.

Speaker 2

It is pretty cheesy I'd say it's real cheesy mike yeah, some of the dialogue is just like okay, yeah, it's like almost cringe.

Speaker 3

early 2000s dialogue, absolutely. But, I love it. I love it, though. So yeah, I played some more Evil West. Let's see what else did I play Fall guys. I finished up my whatever it's called the Fame.

Speaker 2

Pass, new Season Pass or whatever, yep.

Speaker 3

Big changes coming up for this new season too. What are they doing? They're introducing a piggyback mode where you can actually jump on your partner's back if you're doing duos.

Speaker 1

Yeah, mike, we're playing, so I can just jump on your back and you can carry me to the finish line. So that way you can literally carry Roger.

Speaker 3

You can literally carry Roger yeah. And then I think they're also reducing. I think they're reducing and I don't know if I like this change. I think they're reducing it to just three rounds.

Speaker 2

Oh.

Speaker 3

It's like it doesn't matter. Yeah, I don't know if I kind of liked it when there was a final round and there were only like eight people left out of like 40.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

So they're changing it to be faster, so like and I think they're also changing it where, if you beat a level or if you make it to the finish line or whatever, on one stage and instead of waiting for everybody else, you can immediately jump on to the next stage if you want, but then don't you still have to wait for everybody else? I don't think so. I'm going to have to see exactly how they're doing it, but there's only times where you need to work. Everybody needs to be together. If it's like a survival, yeah, yeah. Or you know what I mean.

Speaker 3

Or if it's like volleyball or something yeah we're going up against each other, otherwise you're just racing to the finish.

Speaker 1

It doesn't matter I suppose, if they keep it, I mean what to see, how that, but if how they implement that.

Speaker 3

But if you're playing, yeah, I'm not sure I have to.

Speaker 1

I've got to play it to know for sure but if you're playing three rounds and it's just all racing, then it could just be like, yeah, I'm just gonna finish the race as quickly as possible yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3

I don't know how they're gonna do it. There was a whole press release and stuff and I fell asleep while reading it, so um, I do that quite often.

Speaker 2

It's amazing the amount of times that I wake up because my phone falls on my head yes like laying on my back or on my side and I'm just scrolling something and I doze off and I say that was just. You know, I'm not, I do that too.

Speaker 1

I'm so glad that you guys mentioned that, because I'll do that too. I'll be sitting in bed, I'll be looking at my phone. All of a sudden I'm like, oh god, oh, did I drop the phone on my head?

Speaker 2

I must have fallen asleep dude, I used to do it with books too, back before I had a live-in girlfriend or insignificant other like, and I'd lay in bed and read a book and I'd doze off reading the book and next thing you know I got a paper cut on my nose. That's too much it's tough one to explain.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah yeah, I was reading a book.

Speaker 3

Really promise, promise that they used to happen to me too, when I was an airline pilot. So I'd be falling asleep and the next thing, you know, the ocean would hit me in the face we only get one time with that and then they they don't let you do that again. And the next thing, you know, the ocean would hit me in the face. We only get one time at that, and then they don't let you do that again. Yeah, and all of a sudden everybody starts freaking out.

Speaker 1

You have rotation, I'm pilot, hey you know I'm going to share this real quick. So my son has been playing a lot of Minecraft and he wants to buy all these packs, like, oh, oh, can you buy me the D&D pack?

Speaker 1

can you buy me the? You know all the different packs and then one that he wanted really bad was these airplane packs. So I bought him the airplane pack and, sure enough, what did he do? He takes a big jetliner and he lands it into the ocean and then he can't get it out. He's like, yeah, I'll just leave this here, there's other planes he'll get. I'm like, dude, what I said, I'm never getting on a plane with you, ever if you're flying.

Speaker 3

So it's very funny nice, uh, what else was I playing? Oh, you know what? There was a big sale on a few, uh, a few items, so I purchased uh for the switch. Sorry, phil, I purchased um garfield pinball on pinball fx and softball pinball.

Speaker 2

Okay, well, there's a garfield pinball on pinball FX and South Park pinball. Okay Well, garfield pinball, what's up? I've never seen Garfield pinball. I have South Park pinball, but I've never seen Garfield pinball. Yeah.

Speaker 3

That's. I mean, it's Garfield and it's pinball. So I just here's the thing that was. It's. It's really hard. Good job of voicing Garfield. He's close enough, but I'm sorry, that's like we need to. We need this. See, this is what we need to do. We need to find a way to get AI to perfect Lorenzo music's voice so that way we can get new episodes of Garfield and friends.

Speaker 2

Mike, I have mad amounts of respect that you can name the Garfield voice actors without having to look at a thing like anything.

Speaker 3

I like seriously.

Speaker 2

That brain of yours is something magical and special.

Speaker 3

It's. I'm remembering the voice actor for a cartoon character. That's not.

Connections Between Voices in Cartoons

Speaker 2

No, that's, that is something, because my brain does not work like that. I just got done watching Monday Night Raw like two hours ago, and I could name one of the matches that I watched, and wrestling is something that I pay attention to on a weekly basis and you can pull the name of voice actors off the top of your head like that.

Speaker 1

Kids don't do drugs didn't he do the voice of peter venkman as well?

Speaker 3

yes yeah, yeah and that's always the weird thing, and that was a weird thing that I thought I was the only one who thought that that was weird.

Speaker 1

It is weird, it is weird, but you know what's really strange?

Speaker 3

Okay, so Phil's looking at it like what's going on. So Lorenzo Music was the voice of Garfield in the cartoon Mm-hmm, and Lorenzo Music was also the voice of Peter.

Speaker 2

Venkman in the real Ghostbusters cartoon. Lorenzo Music was also the voice of Peter Venkman in the real Ghostbusters.

Speaker 3

Bill Murray was Peter Venkman in the movie and Bill Murray was the voice of Garfield in the Garfield movie that came out in 2004 or something like that. Okay yeah, it's just weird and it was the funniest thing. I seriously thought I was the only person on the planet who actually recognized it, until I heard them mention it on an episode of rick and morty and I'm like, hey, I, I thought that exact same thing yeah, no, I thought the same thing too.

Speaker 1

I'm like whoa, that's weird, uh. And then, yeah, I thought it was weird that bill murray did the voice of garfield in the movie.

Speaker 3

But he thought. He thought it was going to be a movie about the president, and that's why he signed up for it it's like the game madison joke.

Speaker 1

Are you serious? Is that seriously?

Speaker 3

100, serious he? He signed up for the garfield movie thinking it did not, knowing it was about are you serious?

Speaker 2

yes, I thought really upset right now that I don't have sound effects, but I'm not in charge of this I thought.

Speaker 1

I thought that he took it in honor of the voice that you know, that lorenzo did the voice of him in the cartoon. But now I don't think so.

Speaker 3

Well, no, I was making that up.

Speaker 1

No, you're probably right, I was making up that stat just to think that was cool. But that's what I thought I make up. What were we?

Speaker 2

talking about games games games you've been playing Games you purchased, so does it have Lorenzo Music's voice.

Speaker 3

No, it doesn't. It has Frank Welker's voice, but it's still not bad. Whatever it is.

Speaker 1

what it is.

Speaker 3

But it's a pinball game with Garfield, so that's cool. What else, oh, I got a guitar for.

Speaker 1

We're talking about video games here, Mike. No, the new guitar that came out. What the hell is happening here?

Speaker 3

The new guitar that came out, the new for Fortnite.

Speaker 1

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, for the.

Speaker 1

Rock.

Speaker 2

Band or whatever.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, PDP released a new guitar. So I actually got that because I love rock band and I haven't played rock band in ages and I had all these dlc from the xbox 360 era which I can still download for rock band 4. So I went into my history and I just started redownloading all these awesome songs. So I'm been just playing the fake guitar, uh, and rock band nice.

Speaker 2

I think I still have like three guitars and yes, I know they go for a fair shake those are worth money yeah, I have I have one I have one.

Speaker 1

No, maybe I have two guitars, uh, and then I have the drum set and I have the keyboard now too, actually oh yeah uh, and then some mortal combat.

Speaker 3

Just a little bit of mortal combat, just a little bit nice uh that's it, I promise.

Speaker 1

For myself. This week has been super busy for me. We had planning at work and that takes up a lot of my time and it's very stressful. So thank goodness for Magic Mind though, because if it wasn't for Magic Mind, I wouldn't have the energy to get through the day and to play games and talk about the games that we're playing. But I will say if you are interested in finding more out about Magic Mind, you can go to our show notes and click on the link and you can actually get discounts on your purchase as well. So go to the show notes and check that out.

Speaker 1

But let's talk about the games I'm playing. Uh, I mentioned stitch. So, yeah, I've been playing that game and, yeah, very relaxing. Uh, it's a cool puzzle game. I didn't. When I saw it on the nintendo direct, I'm like that doesn't look that hard. And then I start playing. I'm like, oh, okay, I can see why this is complicated and, yeah, it's cool. It's a cool puzzle game, um, but very relaxing, but also challenging. Uh, again, super space club mentioned that enjoying that game a lot. Uh, a game that? Uh, oh, another game that I reviewed you can go to jesus, what's that? Phil?

Speaker 3

is that the gong?

Speaker 1

yeah, what's at the club? What happened over there? We're pulling roger.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah uh, I'm fidgeting with something, as I tend to do when it whacked off my beer can whoa uh-huh yeah, uh, so I uh I reviewed the game.

Speaker 1

Uh, lunar land or lunar lunar lander beyond, lunar Lunar Lander Beyond. So it was a re-imaging of the original Lunar Lander that came out in 79. I really liked the art it was all hand-drawn art and it had a story, which was cool because the original didn't have a story, yeah, and I liked the direction it was going and I liked some concepts because your characters could get like, they would get stressed and then they would see weird things in space, like eyeballs and hands grabbing and weird stuff, right. So you had to like yeah, it was interesting, it was an interesting concept, and your stress level would go high if you run into walls or if you get shot at and took damage, um, and really you fly around and like land obviously a lunar lander to like either deliver things or pick up people and stuff like that.

Speaker 2

Um and then, if you're, I like roger's new shtick of describing games by using titles that are in the game yeah, I know they use a lunar lander games by using titles that are in the game.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I know, they use a lunar lander um this lander, see, and it's on the lunar, yeah, the moon, I mean um, so, so, uh, it was cool, the concept's cool, and then you would get new pilots and you had to switch pilots out if they were too stressed out, so like, or um, they took damage, so their health was too low too.

Speaker 1

Um, the part that I did struggle with is, boy, it was, it didn't control. The ships didn't control very well, especially the first one, uh, and you would have to use, like there's this thing that was kind of like a handbrake, it was like a stable, it's called stabilizer, and it would allow you to like make a quick turn and like slow down and make a quick turn another place, because a lot of times you're kind of sweet, you know going through like a maze and but that uses fuel and you have limited fuel. And boy, there was. There was one mission that I landed the lunar lander and I had no fuel left and apparently that was a achievement. So I got that achievement, but it is really challenging. Uh, the first couple levels are easy, and then I was just starting going like, oh, my goodness, this is really hard, this is really challenging.

Speaker 2

Um I'm still stuck on landing the lunar lander.

Speaker 3

Yeah, landing it I'm still stuck on eyeballs and yeah and grabby hands grabby hands, yeah, or the duck, that's a detective yeah, uh.

Speaker 1

So I've been playing that um a game that I've been playing that I wish I wasn't playing. I mean, I'm not playing anymore and I wish I wouldn't have bought the new turtles game. Game, it's terrible. Is it bad, it's so bad.

Speaker 2

I've seen like five, five and a half for reviews on it. Oh my God, it's so bad.

Speaker 1

It's so bad Cause it's it's it's based off of the 2000.

Speaker 3

Oh, it's a yeah, it's a coin muncher game.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it is. A funny thing is when we were in florida a couple years ago, the hotel that we stayed at had a small arcade and it had this game in the arcade and it was fun. Yeah, granite, I didn't put in tons of quarters, but it was fun the bit that we played. So I was like, oh, this is gonna be super exciting to play this with my son and we sat down and it's four players, you can play all four turtles. Um, it's not good. Like the. The combat is terrible, it is boring. The animations are all like not good, uh, and and the turtles like it's probably their real voice of the actors, but it is it's just them yelling the whole time like whoa, whoa, and it doesn't.

Speaker 1

it's like listening to a morning show. Yeah, and they, yeah, uh, and then they have, um, each straw has a special ability, but it's just dumb. It's their stupid dumb abilities. And then in like, like, for instance, because I played it as donatella all the time, his thing is he takes his bow stack out and holds it up in the air and lightning strikes down to all the enemies and zaps all the enemies. I kind of get why, because obviously his tech background, but still it wasn't, it wasn't good.

Speaker 1

And then there's cameos, so like you'll find leatherhead just in the middle of the like, he's like a, it's like a pickup, right. So you pick this thing up and leatherhead shows up and he takes up the enemies, but everything pauses, everything pauses. You have to watch this animation happen, even when you do the special moves by the turtles, like it has to be a zoom up of them and they do their move and then it's a special move and it's so not good. And we played one level. So I think there's like five levels maybe, I think, and they're not, they're all disjointed. So it's not like they're all connected, it's just like, oh, you play this level, then you fight the boss and that's it. There's no story. No, actually I don't get it.

Speaker 3

The turtles arcade game Didn't have a story.

Speaker 1

The original one, the original arcade game.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I mean aside from shredder, oh yeah, but I mean the levels were connected.

Speaker 1

At least you played. Yeah, that's you know you play the level and then also you go on to the next level and you play in the next level. None of this is. It's like oh, you beat the level, okay, now you go back to the home world and you pick the next level you want to play. Yeah, and I'm like this is very basic, it's very well remember this, it's, it's.

Speaker 3

This is a dave and buster's game pretty much, that's true, that's true, but no, I get it I got it.

Speaker 1

So anyways, yeah, my son was oh my gosh, he was so excited to play this game, mike, oh. And then we played it, and after one level he said can we just play the shredder's revenge?

Speaker 1

so we hopped into shredder's revenge might as well, yeah I will tell you like it's so weird, because I was like no, I mean, come on right, it's just a beat them up. Every it's it's. It's a beat them up, it's fine. And then you play it and you're like, oh yeah, shredder's revenge is so much better, like just so much better. It just the animation is way crisper. It doesn't feel like broken and and leggy like that's the best way I can describe it just felt leggy, it felt weird, it felt disjointed. Everything, everything about the experience felt disjointed and I was just like so upset because, yeah, he was super, I was super excited to play it. He was super excited to play it. Not good, don't? I'm just gonna like and it's too bad do you have a sound effect?

Speaker 3

you have like a toilet flush sound effect that you can play, or something Um, don't like.

Speaker 1

If you're listening to this podcast and you're thinking about picking up the game, like, I'm just going to warn you it's not. It's not shredders revenge, and it's not. It's not. It's not like the other turtle beat them ups. Don't play turtles, all right, yeah, no, whoa, whoa, whoa. Play good turtle games. Um, I'm excited for the.

Speaker 2

I know you, you won't be mike, but I'm excited for the roguelike turtle game that's coming out here this year yet, yeah, I'll pick that up. Really, is that?

Speaker 3

the last ronin one. Yeah no, not the last one, it's uh, it's, it's a roguelike. Yes, I know it's a roguelike, but I think the animation I if I'm not mistaken the style is the idw comic okay, it's something with um splinter, something to do with splinter I remember splinter's kidnapped and you got to do roguelike stuff.

Speaker 2

Yeah sounds like me summarizing a story.

Speaker 3

Mike, nice job yeah people are saying it's like hades, like the turtles version of hades or something like that. Huh.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it looks cool. This is where I would talk about Evil West. You already talked about it. Do you want to talk more about it? Phil Thoughts Any final? Do you want to talk more about it? I don't know, you kind of covered it when games you're playing.

Speaker 2

I think so. I mean, I've covered it a couple of times, yeah, and it's not getting any better or any worse, which is not bad.

Speaker 2

They get to stay in the course, which is for a game like this. It's absolutely fine. Yeah, yeah it's. If you've got game pass, it's well worth picking up and playing through if you like action adventures. It's moderately challenging in points, but once you get the controls down, it's not too bad. It don't feel like I've died unfairly. The structure of the game is built to not get you lost, so I mean there's not too much traversal and exploration where you just stand there and go okay, where the should I be right now? Um, yeah, I don't have anything bad to say about it. It's. It's pretty dope yeah, um cool.

Speaker 1

Well, I think that's. That's all I have, unless you guys have something else. This is all I have for the show this week.

Speaker 2

Well, I had something, but I don't remember it, so it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1

Okay, then why don't we tell people how they can get a hold of us before we head out? Mike, how can people get a hold of you?

Speaker 3

You can find me on Twitter at PezGuyMike.

Speaker 1

And Phil, how can people find you on social media?

Speaker 2

I'm at. I like how you add the social media part, because you figure I'm just going to give some kind of a smart ass answer. Uh, you can find me on twitter at b now 23 uh, and listeners.

Speaker 1

You can find gamer heads on twitter at gamer heads pod.
