ISSW special edition EP14 - The merge between science and practise. A talk with Grant Statham and HP Marshall
ISSW is a melting pot and a meeting place where scientist and practitioners meet. In this talk we discuss how science transform into practise. Grant Statham works for parks Canada and is in may ways the founding father of the modern avalanche warning service. In the studio we also have HP Marshall from Boisie state university. He is an associate professor and use a range of methods to try to understand the physics of snow. This include methods like microwave radar, remote sensing of snow and ice, glaciology, snow stability modeling, avalanche detection, spatial variability of snow, calibration and validation of remote sensing of snow, high-resolution snow measurement techniques.
So how does all of what we learn in science transfer into practise that is usefull for practitioners to fundamentally keep us all safe.
Participating: Grant Statham and Hans-Petter Marshall
Host: Audun Hetland
