House Wine
House Wine
Marsala & Pantelleria
Hi wine friends! The schedule is a little out of sorts this week so I am releasing this on Friday and we will be back not next Tuesday but the Tuesday after with regular schedules episodes.
Marsala may not be the most popular wine now, but it used to be! I call it in this episode "A wine that peaked in high school" which is not really an unfair analogy. From being the wine of kings to a wine that most people only use for cooking, it has had a wild ride, but deserves a bit of recognition none the less.
This is the story of one of the worlds least popular wines and how it came to be so.
I used some great resources:
The Oxford Companion to Wine, 4th Edition by Jancis Robinson
Native Wine Grapes of Italy by Ian D'Agata
Wine Grapes by Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and Jose Vouillamoz
Vino Italiano, The Regional Wines of Italy by Joseph Bastianich and David Lynch
I also talk about some great wineries:

This podcast is 100% independent, it is written, narrated and produced by myself, Rachael so if you heard something you liked then scroll down and leave a comment or review, that is the best way that you can support the show.
Until next week, I hope you drink something delicious!
