Sermon July 14, 2024 - Rejecting Jesus
Jul 16, 2024
Pastor Chris Cahill

Early in his earthly ministry, Jesus and his disciples stopped by for a visit in his hometown of Nazareth, and decided to go to the synagogue to worship. The worship leaders thought it would be good to invite Jesus to read one of the Scripture readings and make a few comments on it - but were they shocked at what he had to say! And was he ever surprised by their reaction! What would you do, if the same thing happened to you?

This summer most of the Gospel lessons are in the Gospel according to Saint Mark. These readings talk about Jesus’ teachings, His miracles, and His action-packed ministry. But each of the readings also has a “takeaway” from Jesus Himself! We’ll focus on these “red-letter” verses this summer. Here’s this week’s, from Mark chapter 6, verse 4: Jesus said “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”
