Miriam's Meditations

Chapter 5: Who Am I?

Miriam Season 7 Episode 5

We dive deep into our own energy field in this chapter, making a commitment to listen deeply to our feelings, and inner guidance from moment to moment, acting upon what is right for you in the present. We do a short breath practice then play with some exercises Orin shares in this chapter. Learning to view things from the perspective of another person, or our pets, or even the sun or a tree. These expansions of ourselves into the world of another helps us create a compassionate field of light, even for those we find difficult. We end with breathing into our hearts and allowing the light of compassion to find us and fill us.

Miriam:

Blessings and welcome to Miriam's meditations, breathing in and breathing out, starting with their very self, and our perceptions of who and what we are. And that is the theme for this chapter in personal power through awareness who am I. And a lot of what we do in our practice is we learn to breathe mindfully and do our best practice is very much centered around that piece of work of learning who we are. And we all exist as a focus of consciousness, within a vast sea of other consciousnesses. And we are all woven together, and a magical pattern that creates the life that we enjoy. And it can be a bit of a challenge to know who you are within all of that consciousness that's flowing around us at all times. So some of the hints that Oren gives us this week, and the practices that he shares, help us to understand the how to make that discernment, it's a level of discernment. And I want to be careful not to make it into a situation of me and other, we are not othering the world, we are not turning into something that is outside of ourselves, we are learning to be discerning of how our pattern works within the pattern of the greater consciousness that is creation, we are all part of it, we are not separate. And I do want to make a bit of a disclaimer here at the beginning. Because in this chapter, we do talk about paying attention to others and their energy, and also to make a commitment to be an uplifter. And to carry a healing frequency as we move through the world. And I just want people to understand that if you are in an abusive relationship or a difficult relationship where you feel unsafe, your first job is to get to safety, find resources and support that bring you to a safe place. And from that safe place, then you can begin to practice some of the things that are in this chapter and in this book, that your safety and your well being is the Paramount task. So do not interpret these ideas as a way to try to fix another person or fix something that is causing you to be unsafe. That's not the message at all. Your safety is priority. So I just wanted to make that distinction in some of the work that we're going to undertake this week. So let's just close your eyes and begin to drop into our inner world. And noticing the breaths in this moment, how we are breathing in breathing out how our body feels today, you might be full of life and vitality and energy. Or you may be recovering from something that has happened to you in the recent past. May it be emotional or physical occurrence that has your energy a bit diminished or recovery mode. So just take notice of where you are in this day in the spreads. And let that be perfectly fine. If you are recovering and healing, let the breath practice today be about healing, drawing in healing light with each breath. If you are full of vitality and joy, and the thrill of being on vacation and a beautiful location, share that light with all of us, all of us who are listening and participating. We create a beautiful pattern together allowing a kind of exchange of our energy focuses. So let's just notice our breath as we breathe in. And let it out of the sight breathing and again and exhaling. Let your shoulders drop away from your ears. Once more breathe in. And as you relax out. Let your face soften. Let your ears relax, let your jaw soften. And now as you breathe in and out and your breath be very peaceful. Coming into an awareness of Who you are, in this moment in this clarity. And in this chapter, the very first thing that Oren asks us to do is to make an commitment to yourself a commitment to listen to your feelings and your inner guidance from moment to moment and to act upon what is right for you in the present moment. In order to do this to do accomplish this, we must be able to listen. And in order to listen, we've become quiet and breathe. And take a pause before reacting to the world. And as we've been practicing listening to our breaths and being with our breath practice, we may have become aware of our own Higher Self and inner guidance or even higher intelligence in the form of a guide. And learn to listen within whether you can discern the difference between your inner knowing and a guide self. It's not that important, really. Just learning to listen for that inner knowing and moving through the world with a kind of deliberateness and openness. We are tuning our sensory capacities and this essential following of the breaths in and out of our bodies. Your breath is carried with you everywhere you go every moment of the day or night, always available to help call you just sent her. So we make that commitment right here in the beginning of our practice, to listen with him recognize our guidance and commit ourselves to acting upon our guidance. letting that be a fluid exercise as we move through the world. All right, let's bring the first two fingers of the right hand touch the third eye and we'll do our spiraling to open the third eye with the breath. And as you are doing the spirals drawing 36 spirals on your forehead. I'd like you to draw your breath in a spiral into your head and out. So let's breathe in and out together to begin and that is a third eye and now drawing our spirals begin 1-234-567-8910 1112 1314 1516 1718 9020 2122 2320 420-526-2720 830-930-3130 230-334-3536 Pause. Inhale is third eye and exhale your third eye cleansing and clearing your intuition. Now right here on remain stationary left hand comes up and place it upon your heart. Heart mind uniting breaths. In inhale your third eye and exhale down into your heart. Breathe in again, your third eye. Draw the breath deeply into your head collecting the energy there and exhaling it into your heart releasing to the hearts knowing. Once more breathe into your third eye and exhale into your heart. Heart and Mind begins to blend. Now breathe in your heart. Allow the breath to rise, lifting empathy head and blending and then exhaling back down into the sweetness of the heart. Breathing your heart. The breath arises as different wings of a dove, blending with the mind and then exhaling freely and simply into the heart. Once more breathe in at the heart. Allow the breath to lift. Blend and exhale, releasing two hearts. Knowing heart and mind are wedded in a spiritual union. Now you're left hanging dropped in your lap, your right hand remain stationary. alternate nostril breathing, Inhale through both sides of your nose. Exhale through both sides of your nose. Now close off with your thumb your right nostril and breathe and the left side only. Close off with your fingers. Lift up your son. breathe out breathe in same clothes off with you sir. Lift up your fingers. breathe out breathe insane close off, out breathe in same clothes off out as insane and other in seeing that your hand dropped to your lap and breathe out now just take a look relaxed, easy breath. Now let's do some tapping on the breathing space. With your fingertips. Just begin to tap on your breathing space. Breathing in breathing out tapping. Tapping. Now, pause for a moment. Exhale. Breathe in, tapping, tapping, tapping all of your breathing space padding as you retain the breath. padding. padding. Exhale, let it go. Breathing again tapping, tapping tapping on your upper back if you can reach, tapping on your lower roots, adding his retained breaths. And exhale, let it go. Eyes open palms up for two cleansing breaths. Breathe in. Exhale, three puffs. Exhale, exhale, breathe in. Cleanse now close your eyes let's do two retained breaths and one cleansing. Breathe in and breathe out. Now inhale, full and complete breath rising to the top of your breathing space. Pause and stretch and open around the breath. Notice the nourishment of breath as you retain. And now open your mouth wide and let it go. Really empty of the breath. Again, breathe in a full and complete breath rising to the top. Pause, stretch. Expand around the breath and let it go. Surrender. Eyes open palms up for a cleansing breath breathe in. Cleanse The reason Glenn's. Eyes closed. One minor Yogi exercise. Inhale as you inhale arms arc into a prayer pose above your head. I draw to myself my perfect blueprint of being inner outer everywhere and exhale as your arms drop down to your love not just breathe easy and peaceful. Your breath can be very quiet. As I am breathing, I am making a sound so you can hear me that your breath can be very, very quiet if you like a delicious, smooth, easy breath and noticing how your breath might be different from when you began in this practice earlier on. Notice your body and its relaxation. Notice your emotional being and whether you feel a fluidness about your emotions. Sometimes as we do breath practice, we can have a strong emotional response. Allow yourself to feel your feelings. This is Oregon's first instruction here. After our commitment to our knowingness is to feel how we feel. allow ourselves to be fully in the world and open. As you honor your own higher path, you're honoring the past but not others. We can try to practice being selfless. Even as we are honoring our own feelings, and our restrictions here or to try to practice being selfless in small things. Like where we sit in the restaurant at the table, what restaurant we'll be going to if we are going with others, allowing ourselves to listen to others and be soft in the small things. In our greater things, our commitment is to our own purpose and to the higher purpose of life. And as we commit to this higher purpose five, we are allowing others to exercise their own purpose of life. If we are working toward a common goal and we are working in joyous service, we begin to see how all of these purpose people walking a path of purpose how it all blends together. But he cautions us that we are not responsible for others happiness. Each of us is responsible for our own well being emotional well being physical wellbeing, mental well being and that includes following a path that brings us joy. So even as we are committing to this path and it brings us the ability to be a healing influence in the world. We are not responsible for others growths order to force them to some kind of shift. Our ability to handle energy as we are moving through the world comes out of disability to focus within follow our purpose. Listen to our inner guidance and your own field of energy, your patterns, your frequencies began to become clearer and clearer to you. Even as you're moving through the sea of consciousness that is our world. And an exercise that is shared with us in this chapter is to try a shift in perspective of putting ourselves in another person's shoes. This person might have very different way of moving through the world, belief patterns, different thoughts, different decisions about their world. And if we can take a few moments to imagine ourselves in the shoes of someone else, just choose someone. And allow yourself for a moment to look at the world from their perspective. And it can be someone you love dearly. Someone you cherish. We don't have to start with a difficult person in our world. Even just imagining someone you love and how they are in the world can be very informative. This was very interesting to me, as I read through this chapter, which Oren has entitled Who am I that so much of the work in the chapter was about honoring others perspectives you can use this technique to share the perspective of your pets. What might it be like to be them for a moment, my dog is very small. And so I look at her viewpoint by laying on my stomach on the floor, and seeing how her perspective is of the same place that we share. But I am looking at it from five feet above the ground as she's looking at it from about eight inches. It is a very different way of being you can also imagine that you are tree which is a very different lifetime. how peaceful it might be, to just be in the same place and let the world turn around you. And you follow the sun's course across the sky. The wind your leaves your roots reaching deep into the earth looking for water and nutrients at all of the creatures that come to take shelter and your branches the squirrels and the Chipmunks, the birds, the flies the tiny little microscopic organisms, the moss that might hang from your bar such beauty and these other consciousnesses spread your consciousness out and experience all of nature around you. Wherever you may be, even if you are indoors. Let your whole self expand to the natural world around you. If you are in a city, where there does not seem to be much natural world remember the sky above you and the earth below our natural home all of this is alive and aware from its own specialized consciousness imagine the sun itself, a conscious being. What sort of consciousness might that be? The Giver of Life was a small planet. And our friends the trees are eating that light and turning it into sugars. On behalf of all of the other life on the planet, this amazing interactions taking place every day, every night all the time. The sun a consciousness is very expansive standpoint, perspective number bring yourself back into your own body and your own perspective and notice anything that has shifted or transformed from doing these exercises of changing your perspective notice your own field of patterns within the whole of creation and perhaps as you have expanded your awareness with these experiments in perception, you gain some new frequencies of awareness that you could carry home with you to your home base, where you reside. Going a little deeper into your inner being and your knowingness. This field that is you all of these complex patterns, frequencies and vibrations. And as you have been doing these practices with your breaths and your meditation, you are creating coherence, higher and higher forms of patterns we're seeing you more and more beauty of harmony. So, that as you move through this world, on purpose listening for your guidance, your patterns become healing once for all you encounter. So, other humans, animals plants, the world around you response to your patterns. So, as you think of others, especially other people that you are encountering, and now, we will think for a moment of those that we have difficulty with and thoughts and words that you may have expressed about this person perhaps they have not been of the highest order you may offer yourself forgiveness in this moment. For any rather lower order expressions that you have made, it is fine you have changed and moved to a new location. In reality one were higher frequencies and octaves are readily available to you. So, as you think of this person that might be challenging, imagine their perspective, why they are doing the things they are doing, thinking the thoughts and having these ideas carrying these beliefs if you can hold with the expression that they are simply different and not make either of you wrong or right then you can come to a kind of equilibrium of balancing order can come into play a kind of compassionate coexistence. And you can be the one from whom this compassionate frequency and vibration flows. Without a thought, without even correcting your mind. You can simply find this high order of compassion and let it radiate from you and possibly resonate with this other person. Now, who am I? Now who are you? Who are you is this fresh expression of who you truly are? Even with the difficult interaction of the past? Can it be shifted to some fresh point of view where you hold it very gently Even with great love all of us here together during this practice at the same time in the no time there is shifting going on there is opening we are sharing and supporting each other in this challenging work we are creating spaces opening doorways enhancing cooperative energies theory why Now who am I who am I breathing breeze away any resistance just recognize how you're feeling and breathe into it the breaths be a holy indexer of beautiful light sunshine where there might be shadows nourishment and plenty now, you're standing on stable ground you have made this transition you have practiced with the assets you know how it comes about there is true safety hair and any fears that might be arising you can just looked him squarely in the flow of that and let it dissolve in your clear eyed gaze, seeing it all for what it is this has been truly expansive and your participation has made it so your willingness has provided your frequency for all to combine together and do this work as one. Breathing into your heart and then just breathing out with ease. As you breathe in and out of your heart, allow yourself to come back to your body to awareness of the room around you or the natural world if you were sitting outside just becoming aware of the space around you. Even as your eyes are still closed, feel the temperature any breeze or smell feel your feelings or fluidity of your emotional body and the groundedness of your physical body feet upon the floor or the ground. Your crowd your head toward the sky and all of the freshness that is now within you through this beautiful practice and I bring my hands together my heart it recognition of the life that you are in a deep gratitude for your sharing is all of us in this way did you peace namaste Mahalo for listening, follow rate and review Miriam's meditations on Apple podcast, Spotify, Google podcast or wherever you're getting your podcasts.
