Sunspots
Sunspots are highlights of the many ministries and missions happening on the surface of the Sun – That is, the Synod of the Sun. A region of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) with ALOT of dynamic and hopeful ministry happening in the name of Jesus Christ. We are Presbyterians in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Sunspots can be anything from small congregational ministries, regional networks to international missions. They are caused by the interactions with the Holy Spirit. Like the cap on a soda bottle: shake it up, and you can generate a big eruption! Sunspots occur over the 11 presbyteries in the synod with intense Holy Spirit activity, and when that energy is released, solar flares and big impact can erupt from Sunspots. We pray that you will find inspiration, resources, community and connection in the Sun.

Living in Liminal Space: Youth Ministry in a Post-Christian, Post-Pandemic World
This summer, the Synod of the Sun began a series of conversations called “Living in Liminal Space: A Conversation Seeking Wisdom on the Way”. Hosted by Bridge Interim Synod Leader and Stated Clerk Steve Shive, these dialogues are a way for people to discuss the liminality of a post-pandemic and post-Christian world, as well as the liminal space in which the Synod finds itself now.
On July 13th, Steve hosted Gary Holloman, the Director of Synod Youth Workshop, to talk about Youth Ministry in a Post-Christian, Post-Pandemic world. The conversation with a dozen participants on Zoom took place while the event was taking place at the University of Tulsa.
You are invited to join this conversation. You can present your questions and thoughts via email to synod.leader@synodsun.org.
