Redefining our relationship to productivity is a necessary component of preventing burnout and cultivating well-being. Our current societal relationship to productivity is built on Industrial Revolution era conception of work ethic. This conception wraps our value into what we can produce, dehumanizing us in the process. In order to rehumanize our relationship to our energy, we must first reclaim our worth separate from external measures of production. Additionally we must learn to tap into our values and honor our capacity as we prioritize our energy usage.

In this episode of Unlimited, I invited Lisa Zawrotny (she/her) to join me in a conversation about redefining our relationship to productivity to support our mental health and well-being.

Some of what we talk about in this episode includes:

  • The Industrial Revolution’s influence on how we understand productivity
  • Choosing where to utilize your energy based on your capacity
  • Clarifying your values and releasing shoulds
  • The glorification of overwork and weaponization of urgency
  • Defining enough for goal setting and knowing YOU are enough
