Discussing the menopause with Vanessa Barnes
In this episode, I invite Vanessa to share more information about The Menopause Charity that has been launched to disseminate information, resources, and tools for women about the menopause.
About Vanessa
Vanessa Barnes is a former solicitor who together with GP and Menopause Specialist, Dr Louise Newson, plus a wide range of other experts in the field of menopause care and those with personal experience of the menopause, set up and recently launched The Menopause Charity.
Vanessa is a trustee of the charity. The charity was established in September 2020 to address the urgent need for better perimenopause and menopause information and care for all women regardless of their economic, ethnic or geographic background.
The charity has been set up by a very special team of people who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill sets and who are all united in their passion to improve the quality of menopause care and raise awareness about it.
The charity’s aim is to transform the experience of the perimenopause and menopause for better health, happier lives and brighter futures.
The charity’s goals are:
- To ensure that every woman has access to good menopause care and information, and knows that this is her right.
- To break down the taboos and stigma around the menopause and build understanding within both the medical profession and society in general that decreasing hormone levels around the menopause are a health risk which merits treatment.
Further resources can be accessed through The Menopause Charity.
