Ever tried to snag tickets to your favorite band, only to find they're sold out and reselling at prices that make your wallet weep? We get it! Our latest episode is a blend of fiery rants and bittersweet nostalgia, as we share war stories from the battle to see BTS and Bad Bunny live, and discuss whether the rush of a concert is worth the chaos when live streaming is just a click away.

Remember the days when rock concerts were a test of survival? We sure do. In a candid stroll down memory lane, we swap stories of mosh pits and the transformation of our concert-going tactics. Safety and enjoyment now trump our youthful pursuit of front-row thrills. Join us for a trip through the evolution of live music experiences, where laughter mixes with serious reflections, and assigned seating gradually becomes the new rock 'n' roll rebellion.

Wrapping things up, we're buzzing over the rise of a brand-new boy band born from the Japanese survival show Nizi Project. Despite internet woes, we dissect the global strategy behind the scenes and dish out thoughts on NEXZ's pre-debut track. And because we love to keep you on your toes, we throw in a lively debate over distressed jeans and a jaunt through the kaleidoscopic Kansai music scene. Don't miss the upbeat banter and our take on the earworms served up by SUPER EIGHT, WEST. and Naniwa Danshi.

Music Industry Rants and Ramblings

Speaker 1

Hello everybody , welcome to another episode of Music Elixir with me , Sarah , and .

Speaker 2

Hello , I'm DJ Panic . Today is Rants and Rambling yes it is Because we all we like to rant and ramble . Well , we find news of our favorites and we like to talk about the article that showed up , or rant about something that is going in the music industry like scalpers yeah , we , we went off on that yeah , on our last , last ransom rambling , we were uh thinking about the lottery , and how come they don't implement that over here ? Yeah , which should ?

Speaker 1

it would be beneficial to everybody , even the artist definitely yeah , they'd get their money instead of some random person who's just buying up blocks of seats for some reason .

Speaker 2

This just only like works in japan and I think also in Korea .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think they have a similar system . Yeah .

Speaker 2

But never implemented here in the US , just to I mean well , many years ago it used to be like that . Now it's not like that .

Speaker 1

Which sucks . Yes , indeed it does , because actually I just saw something someone was posting about , like when they were going to shows BTS , for example , they did go to Permission to Dance and they went to see Suga and stuff and they were saying these are actual prices I paid for things and it was like outrageous . Basically over a thousand dollars for the Las Vegas show , for permission to dance and even to go see Suga . I think she spent like at least five hundred dollars and I was like whoa what ? Because we didn't . I was like oh my God , I can't believe that . And she said it's because I waited till the last minute and was just buying like resale tickets which were triple the cost .

Speaker 2

That's the thing . Some people are like , well , I'm not going to be on at 10 am or whatever date , that time that they go on sale , I'll just wait and buy a resale . No , I mean , yeah , if you have the money and you don't care .

Speaker 1

But it's , you know , it's insane . Yeah , well , I , I got right right on the line . I made sure to get my special code and everything , because when we went to see sugar that it did it sold out right away . Of course it was by by 309 . I had the ticket and was fully checked out by 312 . Remember I was saying it was like I got in on my birthday , I got the tickets on his birthday and finalized everything on your birthday isn't that crazy like time wise it was yeah it was , yeah , it was just so insane .

Speaker 1

But , um , you know , I mean she spent more than five times what we spent , wow , for the tickets that I got . And that's the problem is also we . We were talking about these special pre -sales yeah like .

Speaker 1

I benefited , thank god , but they also it sold out on the presale . So by the time it goes , general admission , there aren't seats until all these scalpers start posting their resale stuff , right , and that's when you so like when we were talking about , do we , don't we ? How do we get out to Las Vegas ? We wouldn't have been able to get tickets . They were already sold out before we'd have gotten in to get tickets right , and at that point they were selling for a thousand to up to ten thousand dollars .

Speaker 2

Oh , my goodness so when I saw that , I'm like what ?

Speaker 1

no , no , no , yeah , definitely big , please . It's a major pass , yeah , and we had . We had a really great view with the , the live stream that we watched so yeah , there you go .

Speaker 1

And some of them were illegal live streams . We didn't watch those I . I did the right thing , I paid for the rights to to view it and we got to view it more than once , yes , so that was cool , you know what I mean . So , hey , and now they have it up , like you can again buy it , but then you have access to it all the time , exactly .

Speaker 1

So you know , hey , we love live streaming , we , I love the energy of live shows I really do , but sometimes the crowd is yeah , you know , or the crowd is too big or whatever . Live streaming's made it so much easier , because you get a good view , you can relax , you can dance if you want to , or you could just sit on your couch with popcorn .

Speaker 2

It's been a while since my like well , that bat bunny , since , actually , since BTS , yes , since BTS , I have not sugar . Since sugar , I have not been in like a big crowd standing out there for hours just to get in , even though you have your own seat yeah so bat bunny was like my first one of the year .

Speaker 2

So it's like , man , I forgot about all this . Because after the show's done , you're like like , oh my God , I love this show and whatever , because you forget about the struggle to get in there . Exactly , yeah , no , bad Bunny is a completely different experience than going to a K-pop show . You know that we're so used to . Yeah , so , yeah , no , it's just people don't waste your money . Yeah , so , yeah , no , it's just people don't don't waste your money . Do you know ? Don't don't give . Don't give your money to . You know sculptors ? You know somebody who don't have scruples because they're not a fan ?

Speaker 1

Oh no , definitely not . You know , in the old days it was some guy standing outside theater waving tickets going . I need it . Right and there's a cop going up and down like hey , dude , it was cash .

Speaker 2

Only because there was no such thing as the cube or venmo or you had to have cash and they will be selling them for like hundreds of dollars . Yeah , even back then it was , like you know , like please super gouging .

Speaker 1

Yeah , like what the Mm-mm Yep ? Ah , the good old days .

Speaker 2

But I mean back in the day . I mean back in the day . Tickets were like 25 bucks .

Speaker 1

It still was a lot . Yeah , you know , with the cost of living and inflation and stuff , it was a lot to spend . But yeah , and if you had to try and get it from a scalper you had to have 200 bucks , yeah , ready cash to give them for a ticket I think I don't know if that , if those festivals happen up up here , but I remember being in florida it was like 25 , 25 bands .

Speaker 2

Yeah , we had those , okay .

Speaker 1

So I said it was like a radio .

Speaker 2

Ours was um 20 bands , 20 bucks okay , so I , it was uh one of the rock radio stations in uh south florida at the time is like 25 , 25 bands . You see , blah , blah , blah . Everybody's like in the hot , hot florida , everybody's wearing black . Everybody was right by the time you got in there because they were sweating and blah .

Speaker 1

You know where Six Flags is ? Yes , it used to be a place called Riverside yes , you're right , riverside Park , I think and they had a raceway , they had a racetrack and that's where the show was in the hot sun , out on asphalt like on this . Oh my god , it was miserable that is miserable .

Speaker 2

You're out there for the festival so , but that's what . That's what we did , so you go in there come out all sunburned , dehydrated and hurting .

Speaker 1

Yeah banged up from the crowd because everybody's moshing .

Speaker 2

Don't forget to put explicit context on that , because you'll get out with swamp ass . You come out of there like if you were I don't know war , because it's all if , depending on where area you were at . If it was , you got dust all over yourself .

Speaker 1

People spilling their drinks on you .

Speaker 2

Oh God , yeah , yeah Beer , because it was like the most yeah yeah .

Speaker 1

I remember those festivals .

Speaker 2

I'm done with festivals , definitely yeah , I remember those festivals , festivals , definitely . It's just like I want to see my , my group , but of course it's everybody's favorite group and you're out , really out there , and it's like I can't really see you .

Speaker 1

There were no jumbotrons back then especially not at this at a racetrack yeah no they had nothing , so you had to try and be up front exactly , and that was for lady .

Speaker 2

Is not that um safe ? Definitely not unless you get went with your . You know fellow guys big guy friends .

Speaker 1

Yeah , one of those I went to on crutches too .

Speaker 2

Oh my god , you were determined to see this group .

Speaker 1

You're like I pay my , my 20 , I gotta go see my group oh man I just carry me or what I use those crutches a couple of times to keep people away from me and you know and like I said I went to rock concerts and there's always mush .

Speaker 2

There's always a mush part when you think like , okay , cool , I got a good spot . And when the heavy spot happens , here comes the mush . When you think like , okay , cool , I got a good spot . And when the heavy spot happens here , comes the mush You're like you lost .

Speaker 2

Your friend is in one end You're on the other one . There's no cell phones . Back then You're like yelling your friend's name Son , son . You're looking like a mad person trying to find your friend and not really enjoying the group Because you're trying to find your friend and not really enjoying the group because you're trying to find your friend . Oh , that happens many times oh yeah , anyways . See , I don't remember much of those groups just because of the stress is trying to stay alive in there it's a battlefield .

Speaker 1

It can be .

Speaker 2

It can be I don't know about festivals now , I think coachella is different . There's a different vibe . Well , I think .

Speaker 1

I think it just depends on the artists performing . You know what I mean ? Because , like I don't know um who did , because part of the , the 20 bands for 20 bucks . I saw like the mighty , mighty bostons were playing .

Speaker 2

So okay , yeah , I see that people will still mosh at that right but then it was like echo and the bunny men .

Speaker 1

They're not really moshing . Blondie is sort of borderline . Um , what I'm trying to think of . Who else was there ? It's so long ago was this the ? Boston uh , no , not boston calling no right , right , this was .

Speaker 2

This was years ago yeah , okay , well , it was younger . There's no such thing as like 20 20 bands no , not anymore , it's a local show then then it's $20 .

Speaker 1

Yeah , exactly , but no , it was definitely . I just remember wondering how people were moshing , and I mean even Ian , the lead singer of Echo and the Bunnymen was like what's going on out there ? What are you ?

Speaker 2

people doing . What kind of drugs are you on ? That's what does the thing .

Speaker 1

What kind of drugs are you ?

Speaker 2

on Exactly . Does the thing drugs are you on exactly ? Our song is not for munching , definitely not . Don't be poloing to this . Yeah , it was . So we're not the damned .

Speaker 1

He's like what is going on out there ? I see people getting hurt and there's no reason for that . Yeah you know , he's like I'm right here , you gotta like .

Speaker 2

He stopped the group playing and was like you gotta chill out I'm glad that there's a front man that is watching what's going on . I seen other uh from other groups

Surviving Rock Concerts

Speaker 2

as heavy . You know , if they see something that is not good at all or somebody needs help , they will stop or ask somebody in the security like , hey , get over there , something's going on . Yeah , um , I have seen you know people , you know frontmans will be like hey , wait a minute , wait a minute , stop , stop , stop over here . Over here there's a situation . You know what's going on , especially the ladies you know , are you okay , are you ?

Speaker 2

no , get her out of there and it's like she looks like she's passing out or something . You know what I mean . Yeah , definitely , are you ? No , get her out of there . And it's like she looks like she's passing out or something , you know yeah oh yeah , no , because that happens , you're crushed in there and that can not'm getting out . I , I broke out of the girls . We were only girls .

Speaker 2

We didn't bring our guys because their guys were like I don't want to get poisoned yeah that's what the thing you know poisons were more , I want to say gear for more for females but , it was because it was just wrong . Everybody was just in there and guess what it got too cramped and I was like I can't breathe . I think that was my first time I was having a panic attack because of the amount of people that were there . Yeah , I went . I left .

Speaker 1

And well , that's the problem with , like , general admission . You know , floor like that is because everybody wants to be up front and if you're already up there , everybody's just pushing to get up there and it's , you know . I mean this has been happening since there were several bands , like in the 70s and stuff , that had incidents at concerts where people were just crushed , yep up against the barriers and so it's . Yeah , I , I hate I've stopped doing general admission because I was like I don't want to be part of that stampede . It's not , I can't . Yeah , you don't enjoy yourself , you get stepped on , spilled on , pushed around . Yeah , it's just bad , bad scene .

Speaker 2

So like I said , I'm like I'll sit in my seat . You pay money to see a concert . Yeah , you were there , but you don't remember anything because you're trying to survive .

Speaker 1

Yeah you're fighting for your life . So yeah , so we , we . We like our seats , we like to . We'll stand and dance and jump around , but we like to be able to know we have a spot that is ours and nobody else is going to stand there .

Speaker 2

Oh , one of them , sepultura . That's the one I thought . I was going to tie and a stampede of crazy mosh I was holding on to my friend .

Speaker 2

I almost lost my combat boot wow , that's some heavy duty pushing we were dressed like going to war because we knew what we get we're getting into . We weren't with guys , it was just the two of us and it's just like awful , awful . Weren't with guys , it was just the two of us and it's just like awful , awful and but . But we were kind of close . By the end we were way in the back by the bar because it was the only way that we were safe .

Speaker 2

Yeah , no , that's generally what happened people are like , yeah , sepultura was in miami , yes , like yes , I was there , but I don't remember anything because I was trying to survive well , and you're tall .

Speaker 1

Yes , comparably . I got saved at a jane's addiction show because the crowd , like I , wasn't even in the front and it got so bad . This guy , he had to be six , five like he grabbed me and picked me up and pulled me further back . I was like thank you , I think , for manhandling me .

Speaker 2

But like I was gonna , I was gonna get this little girl's gonna die if she doesn't move he was .

Speaker 1

He was like you are in the wrong place , so little girl , if you're fighting , you're gonna die . You're gonna die this much it was so packed like you were saying , yeah , you just mashed in there and once the crowd starts moving and swaying and pushing , you can't like , you can't get your arms out or up or anything .

Speaker 2

So he was just like he yanked me . If you lose your footing , you're dead , yeah oh yeah , no because people will be they can't see you and they start trampling on you . Oh my god , people will be they can't see you and they start trampling on you . Oh my God . People will be like oh my God , what kind of nightmare shows you go to that's what I said .

Speaker 1

Now we get seats and we make sure . Yeah , that we're , you know .

Speaker 2

Got our own space . Just say it . We're Gen Xers . We've been there , Been there done that , don't need that .

Speaker 2

nope , we , we like our comfort yeah , I have some older gen xers . They're like , if they ain't no seats , I ain't going . Like all the violin fans are playing at the uh look park , oh , really , yeah , oh , but of course there's no seats . No , so my friend is like big lawn , but you can bring your own chair , yeah . So so she's like dang it , I want to go see them , but I gotta bring my own seat . It's like there's just other ones , you know , like like tanglewood's also one that is standing up , yeah yeah , you have to bring your own .

Speaker 2

The cycle is awesome . Well , actually no .

Speaker 1

They do have a seating section like very small amphitheater seating , oh , okay , but most of it is , yeah , out on this big lawn , okay . Sort of like where we saw the Pixies and Weezer . Okay , it used to be Great Woods .

Speaker 2

I don't know what it's called now . That was like Xfinity .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah , so there's a big lawn area behind the seating . That's how Tanglewood is too . Oh , okay , and but most people actually like doing the lawn thing cause you can bring like a full on picnic , you blankets , bring food , wine , whatever you want . That's nice . There's no real rules , right , you just have to be careful and safe . So people like doing the lawn because you can sort of set up camp and just hang out for the show .

Speaker 2

Yeah , that's cool . I'm sure you can smoke out there too .

Speaker 1

Yes , you can Like a bad pony comes and nobody cares .

Speaker 2

The streets , the parking lot , the venue , bathrooms . Everybody thought it was like a huge clam bake girl , a huge clam bake .

Speaker 1

It was insane I can imagine you had to be there you just have to be there .

Speaker 2

It's funny , I'm wearing my pot socks you wear a green shirt , a valley for radio green shirt yes , I am sort of matches . My pot socks you're ready to walk into any other dispensaries and be like , oh customer , hey oh , the funny thing is , my dad gave me the socks oh , my goodness dad really I asked .

Speaker 1

I was like dad , do you know what you gave me ? He's like yeah , I thought it would be funny . I was like , okay , I'm just making sure just double checking okay , oh man , sometimes you're like way out .

Speaker 2

There is something I'm like what question your mind , sir .

Speaker 1

The oil age is really showing oh , my goodness , oh , this is another one of those rants and rambles .

Speaker 2

It's like 45 percent laughing yeah because we , we , you know we gotta laugh about situations that had happened to us and we're like we can't believe we survived something like that you know and you know you . You will hear like , uh , you know horrible concerts like you know , blah , blah , blah , many people you know trample , or that you know , and we're like , geez , yes , we've been there and we have survived , you know we have survived a badge of honor we , yes .

Speaker 2

So now you say why all gen extras are hurting . I'm like because we went through bottle , especially in concerts . I know right , but you're telling me why are you so young and you're hurting ? And I'm like you don't know what I've been through . I have been , yeah , I've been to mosh pits . I have been . I have fallen from a dugout to get into a venue . I have fallen off all the places . Thank God for combat boots where I wouldn't have a broken ankle .

Speaker 1

Oh , my God , yeah .

Speaker 2

No , it's like combat boots . Omg , why you go to a show with combat boots ? You have to , especially to the ones that we love . You know , honchos , heavy metal , death metal , anything that was was metal . That was my vibe , you know .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , no , me too . Well , I said I went through it all . That's true , because I definitely I saw , you know , duran duran and , yeah , pop bands . It was basically whatever was of interest to me at the time . Oh my God .

Speaker 2

We survived In Puerto Rico . The youth back then had so much angst they would mosh in a poison concert Also .

Speaker 1

Def Leppard . Well , we're Gen Xers . We had angst period . Oh my goodness , oh yeah , everything was .

Speaker 2

Angst period oh my good , oh yeah , everything was our parents are baby boomers , so you know that this was not . That was tough on them too well , some of them borderline .

Speaker 1

There's the , the silent generation into the boomers . So yeah , you know , because everybody you get a little little carryover from someone else because of the age differences . You know , even in ours , gen X , it's a 15 year span and there's a big difference between a 15 year old person and a 30 . You know what ?

Speaker 2

I mean .

Speaker 1

So you do get sort of a little carryover from each , because we've had to pick up a lot of what , what , who's uh next from us millennials yes or gen no yeah , millennials millennials , then gen z , gen z , so we , you know , because millennials started the whole social media boom thing and we had to sort of pick that up and learn how to use it because we were sort of close enough to the right age to you need to rely on some of these things to interact and and to make it in business now , because so many businesses rely on having social media and having those connections and link ups and networks and stuff .

Speaker 1

So but we're definitely yeah .

Speaker 2

I saw on the TikToks . I saw on the TikToks , this reel of or is it Reels Instagram , I don't know . I saw on the TikToks . Yeah , I think TikToks , just a .

Speaker 1

TikTok Reels is Instagram , although .

Speaker 2

Facebook Reels is Instagram . It's Instagram .

Speaker 1

Although Facebook does Reels too .

Speaker 2

Yeah , but they're the same company . Oh yeah , yeah , yeah , that's true .

Speaker 1

Well , what about YouTube has ? Oh , shorts , shorts , they have Shorts .

Speaker 2

So in the TikToks there was this one that posted we bought this house and we saw this thing on the wall what kind of USB port is this ? And then it clicks to another . But this person is calling a USB port is the telephone socket board .

Speaker 1

Oh , the landline .

Speaker 2

Yeah , so then it clicks over to a footy-ish person , like like crying I'm like oh , fg , that's how we used to get internet and talk to our friends .

Speaker 1

Yes , that was a major communication but and yeah , so if you were on the internet you couldn't use your phone exactly . Oh , the troubles we had because , yeah , a lot of people like , what do you mean ? It's wi-fi . I'm like there was no wi-fi .

Speaker 2

No , you had to plug it into a phone cord to travel through the phone line I remember that with the family and I wouldn't will be taking turns and if my mom from puerto rico will be calling me , you're like why is your phone always busy ? I'm trying to get a hold of you over there . Why your phone so busy ? It's like you know the internet . You just stop that . So it's like , okay , we need to invest on voicemail so it can go in there , call my mom . She's like get off of that computer . My mom from Puerto Rico telling me get off that computer . I'm like I don't leave my home anymore . Mom , do whatever I want . I think I have you . Oh my God .

Speaker 1

Oh , remember the dialogue . Oh yeah , your computer didn't just go and turn on . You were like You're like is it connecting . You're like , is it connecting . You're like , damn it , gotta try again .

Speaker 2

I hate it when that happens , because if it was high traffic you couldn't get in right when it was high traffic , you couldn't go in . That's why a lot of people started going like really late , you know oh my goodness the struggles . I was just gonna say people don't know the struggle is real to get some entertainment , oh my god .

Speaker 2

Anyways , we went from concerts to that . So let's talk about a little bit about news . Oh so I found out or just saw this article that popped on soompi that jyp , jyp's new japanese boy group , nex or n-e-x-Z Next .

Speaker 1

Next , next , I guess it is .

Speaker 2

So they're going to . So they drop an image teaser for their debut Ride the Vibe .

Debut of New Boy Group

Speaker 1

When is the song coming out ? The debut happening ?

Speaker 2

Of course now my internet is low . I'm over here talking Right . I'm talking smack about the dial-up and the actual Wi-Fi is like Jeez . It just doesn't complain , it's just slow . Oh , my goodness , oh my goodness .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the struggle is real with this now how did they go about forming this new group ? Was this like because we were talking earlier and I was saying how um hybe is doing open auditions like globally ? For new , new , uh , idols in the the industry and we know hype has hype , america also , but but this is definitely like fairly , fairly global . I won't say fully global , but they're going to have auditions in the us and in asia , I think australia . They're looking to create some new groups as well .

Speaker 2

So I wasn't sure how jyp , sort of oh , so on may 2nd , uh next has released an official logo motion teaser and reveal a potential fandom name ahead of their upcoming debut with Write the Vibe Jeez , they're going kind of quick with this .

Speaker 1

Just bam . Here it is no slow lead up , no teasers , just boom . So wait , so May 2nd . So that actually has happened already . So when's ?

Speaker 2

the song being released , then , okay , the seven-member boy group which was formed on the Japanese survival show Nizi Project , season 2 , will be debuting with Ride the Vive on May 20th at 6 pm Korean Standard Time . Nizi Project Maybe that's how Nezy you started . Oh , that could be , oh interesting .

Speaker 1

All right , so you know . What's even more interesting Is that you said N-E-X-Z right , nex , right , they're on Spotify . I was like I'm going to look and see what's going on . Oh , they actually had a single that came out december 18th 2023 .

Speaker 2

Eh , yeah , okay , but why just see ?

Speaker 1

sorry everybody , I'm showing panic , okay . So I wonder if they sort of put something out there to see how it would be received , I guess and now they're gonna fully debut them officially , because the new song is not out here , just this one . It has a regular version and a korean version . We'll have to check it out . Listen to it later , because we can't play it on the the podcast for you , right ?

Speaker 2

now we can't . Oh , come on now . It won't show up on my spotify . Why is it being stupid ? You're having all kinds of issues huh yeah , my internet is slow . That's weird . Mine's all good , but using your phone , are you connected to mine ? I don't think so I got my own hot spot , that's why I don't have your hot spot .

Speaker 1

You could connect that's what I have to do when I go visit my parents is I have to use my phone hot spot to use my laptop and it's probably faster right yeah , oh yeah , they don't have if I , because I don't want to use like random weird open wi-fi's around my parents house , so I'm like turn on my hot spot , use my computer yeah , no , my wi-fi is like slow , like molasses that's interesting . So I mean still , that's only the middle of december , so anyways .

Speaker 2

Well , it is there . Well . So what's with this news ? Check out the new trailer .

Speaker 1

But what they don't talk about the uh , the other song that they came out back in the day , this might have been like a test thing , a test test drop . See what happens . You know Mm-hmm , our pre-release single Miracle , yeah . Oh , congratulations , and they're a global boy group consisting of Tomoya Yu , haru Sojion , seita Hui and Yuki , formed from the Nizi Project . Sorry , nizi Project Season 2 .

Speaker 1

Okay and yuki formed from the nizi project sorry nizi project , season two okay , japan korea joint audition project known for artists such as twice stray kids , itsy and nizi you okay , nizi you yep through sony music . Oh , here it is . Next means next z generation . I had a feeling that it had there we go .

Speaker 2

We were talking about that , you know gen z-ers well , when it was like millennials next z .

Speaker 1

I was like I wonder if it's next z . So there it is . Z generation the n and z these are babies shows . They were born from the new z project . The message portrayed is the members gathered will lead the next generation to deliver new music and performances and to open up a new era . We named the group hoping that you will cut open the future of the new generation . So this single that's on here , miracle , was written by JY park and performed for the uh final stage of the audition , so it was a pre-release before they were really really a band okay so that's why , on may 20th , they will make their global debut .

Speaker 1

All right , with ride the vibe . There we go . Now we got got the skinny on them , interesting , all right . So this what's on Spotify right now is their audition Okay , song .

Speaker 2

At least we can get to hear , you know their voices and how it is and how they are .

Speaker 1

Get a taste for what they can offer .

Speaker 2

So it's a seven member group of what I can see here .

Speaker 1

I like their looks so far .

Speaker 2

It's funny they're , they're all japanese , or they're have also korean members in there uh .

Speaker 1

Based on the names , I'd say there's at least one korean , it's uh maybe two , because their look they might be all japanese minus one .

Speaker 2

Their look is very korean , like their aesthetics , right , well , it's very korean , I can tell it's a korean uh , project jy park is , you know ? Yeah , that's why yeah but I , I can see was I . I like that . But if you compare this group with , let's's say , a starto group , you can tell like oh yeah , you're starto . You might be Japanese , but you're nothing like you know , you look more Korean . It's like there's aesthetics , you know , like they use a certain vibe .

Speaker 1

Hey , they already got an Instagram . Oh yeah , jay Park has got this . Wow , they got a whole thing . Oh yeah , wow , they got a whole thing . Oh yeah , they got a whole thing going on . Listen , we just found this out . Awesome in disney world somebody's birthday cool , I'll definitely have to listen to the song . Their audition tape well , not a tape , but they're . They're audition music , how's that ?

Speaker 2

yeah , I'm trying .

Speaker 1

I'm trying based on how they're dressed and the group shots and the individual shots . I'm trying to figure out what kind of music exactly they are . It's not all like matchy matchy uniform right kind of stuff . Everybody's got their own . Look , there's some baggy pants there's some converse high tops there's . What do you call those flannel shirts ? Yeah , there's no yeah , beanies , you know formity there's no uniformity .

Speaker 2

Is is , yeah , they're . They all have a little different , everybody doing their own thing , someone wearing shorts , someone wearing pants , I don't know construction boots .

Speaker 1

It's like sort of a grunge and meets hip-hop oh , you're looking at the one .

Speaker 2

They're all wearing black and it looks like they're on a desert . Is that the picture you're looking at ?

Speaker 1

oh no , not at the moment . Okay , actually , I don't see that one at all in here . Okay , is that the picture they have on the ? Oh no , I'm looking at another group , never mind . Oh , okay , I'm like , no wonder , have on the . Oh no , I'm looking at another group , never mind oh , okay , I'm like no wonder this looks different oh , they all went to disney world hey see everybody , this is , this is just a conversation between two friends .

Speaker 1

We're like look at it stuff . Oh hey , check this out , look at that , look at this sarah was checking out their instagram and showing the pictures .

Speaker 2

But speaking of instagram , and I'm very happy to see our junie promoting his stuff oh my god .

Speaker 1

I know this is like old stuff that year before military , but it's just like oh well , remember a few episodes back and I was like geez , we should be getting an album from rm at some point he's . He was working on music before he went in , exactly and then the next week .

Speaker 2

They're like rm dropping I know , see , you were feeling the vibes , girl . The universe was sending you the signals . Yes , he is coming out with something . Yes , it looks so good . I like every photo shoot . It doesn't matter whatever he's doing , I love it . I'm so happy to see his face .

Speaker 1

He's so well , it's so . It's so funny because it's all the pictures before he went in where he had shaved his head and he kept trying to tell her . But I didn't shave my head because I'm going in the military . Yeah you did he's like it's because it's hot , no , it's because you yeah , even before going to the military .

Speaker 2

You didn't have that , you know . Yeah , all through , yeah , all through bts . You never had your hair like that shaved . Yeah , it's always being longish or , you know , tapered and colored but floofy on top , just like a kind of like a crew cut just black . Yeah , no , no , that , no , boo , don't lie . You're so cute when you lie .

Speaker 1

So cute , you know we all know the dimple shows . No , honest , that's not why . So yeah , that's coming out soon . Yes , very exciting .

Speaker 2

Right place , wrong person . I'm reading it .

Speaker 1

I'm looking at him .

Speaker 2

That's why I started talking about him , because he's just the photo where he's just laying on the floor and there's like , uh , like he's laying on um , like , um you know those balconies from an apartment that have bars .

Speaker 2

But he's on the floor and the sun is hitting him oh , okay , he has his hair one of um , his right arm , under his head , his closed eye , and then has this like slight smile oh my god , he's so cute love him and you know , just using his arm to shield himself from the sun , and oh yeah , I love him , so your baby I know , and people , of course army are going , uh , to the military because they have people in the military , so they go over there with their cameras and he's playing the saxophone you show me . And then there was another one I saw a reel of him actually playing . I'm like he looked so good in that red suit , whatever he was wearing playing the sax so nice .

Speaker 2

He looks so serious . As always , he's like I'm concentrating not to break the sax . Oh my god , I don't know what else is going on , girl , besides just seeing things on like reels and whatnot and of course , the k-drama that , oh yeah , that's still going . Another thing happened and we're like oh , we have to say any slandering out there , you're gonna get sued I know right , you know it's my statement out there .

Speaker 2

From one of the big companies just say listen , start messing with our groups , we're gonna sue you yeah , watch what you say , watch your mouth and this company is so huge . And yes , they will sue you oh yeah oh , whatever happened to the ones that gd remember gd had the same situation . Remember when you need that whole thing that you want the drug thing and also his . His lawyer was like we're gonna sue you .

Speaker 1

Well , I bet people probably just started taking stuff like deactivate the account , get it down .

Speaker 2

So yeah , oh yeah so now that I said gd oh , let's see if something happens .

Speaker 1

Yes , supposedly in august something's gonna be happening . So that's what . The last thing I remember we were talking about it and he had been saying he's gonna be in vegas in august . So my god , or working on it . He was working on it . Yeah , he's , he's been doing this .

Speaker 2

He's busy . He's scoping things around looking what's going on . He's just getting ready for a comeback . Oh my god , yeah , yeah , he's busy . He's scoping things around looking what's going on . He's just getting ready for a comeback . Oh my God , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

He's laying low ahead of this , so that it can be a big surprise . He's planning things . He's going to jump out of that cake and be like ta-da . You know what I mean , I know , I know .

Speaker 2

It's funny to be there . Ooh , ooh . You know what I mean . I know I know it's funny if he does . Oh , oh , okay . So this was instagram that I saw this real paul lynn and pinky tuscadero halloween disco you have talked about that . I found that real , forgot to send it to you have talked about that I found that real forgot to send it to you .

Speaker 1

It's okay , I got the video . Oh , I know you told me about it .

Speaker 2

You were , it was a halloween special thing , yeah yeah , I'm like is this what sara was talking about ? And I'm looking and looking and then it's like oh my god , there's kiss . So I sent it to family . Did you just rip your pants more ?

Speaker 1

yes , are you pulling a new spot ? Oh my god I was playing with the already there , rip and I created another rip further down . Oh my god girl , I'm surprised people pay good money for jeans like this I know . Just let me borrow them for a week and I'll give

Discussing Super 8's New Project

Speaker 1

you .

Speaker 2

Have your dad said anything about your rip pants ? Because it's something I can see him saying why you got them .

Speaker 1

No , he doesn't my mom does oh really , yeah , my mom will be like do you need to buy some new pants ? I I'm like , no , they're supposed to be like this . She never liked that Because when we were younger . That was the thing too , and she was like , if you cut a hole in your jeans to be fashionable , I was like , no , no , I won't , I won't . Yeah , these are all natural wear and tear . You know , when you got a pair , they're really comfy .

Speaker 1

Yeah , know , when you got a pair , they're really comfy yeah but , of course , because they're really comfy , you use them all the time and they get worn out and they start to get holes and you're like , oh no , my favorite . I had to stop wearing them to work because of that first hole . So , oh geez , I was like I tried wearing them one day with the hole and hr was like do we not pay you enough to buy new pants ?

Speaker 2

hr said that yeah it was .

Speaker 1

They were joking , but I was like no , I don't normally wear . I was like it was just a teeny little hole , but it ripped more and I'm at work so there's nothing I can do .

Speaker 2

They were like uh-huh rules have changed now , no , it was always . Okay , it was always a rule .

Speaker 1

It's just nobody really . Uh , we were a bunch of rule breakers , but oh , now that the the organization's a little smaller , I interact with more people that I never used to have to .

Speaker 2

Oh no , that is like oh , who are you ? Okay , Stay away from me .

Speaker 1

Actually , what I should have said no , you don't pay me .

Speaker 2

Oh , my God .

Speaker 1

I need a raise so I can buy a new wardrobe you should have you should have , oh man , oh , oh , one thing that we need .

Speaker 2

We can talk about what , what that it just happened this week , the new project that came out from stardew for our kansai guys , kamigata boys yeah yeah , I saw that .

Speaker 1

I was like what , where'd this come from ?

Speaker 2

it's a project , yes , from the senpai group , which is super eight . So the group composes of super eight west and naniwa danji . Ah , okay , yes , to make the super group . I have seen fans out there comparing it to another entertainment company . They say , hey , is this going to be like blah , blah , blah ? Okay , might as well just say it , because I mean , it's been out there all over ex-Twitter . Somebody posted hey , star 2 wants to be like LDH Doing tribes . I'm like , omg , yeah , we can say that , you know . So the promotion picture which I got thank you , stardew . They were all wearing black and leather , just yeah , I saw the wool and whatever . Have you seen the video ?

Speaker 1

no , I have not . I've been focused on other stuff . We we were doing something else prior .

Speaker 2

Oh my god is deceiving . That picture is totally deceiving . That's just to to give you . Oh , it's going to be so different , you know , because you know these groups . Besides , they're just so inspiring , so comedic , so like , so vibrant . Well , that promotion picture wearing black and looking cool , it's deceiving . Throw that out , because when you go see the video and hear the song all over the place and the color there is everywhere , I feel bad for Naniwa . They put these costumes on them and I'm like what's going on ? Well , they're the babies . That's why they put them on this . I don't know . I know they're all about comedy . These groups are all just grand and big in comedy .

Speaker 1

Well , they're fun , they're just happy-go-lucky . Well , we talked about this once before , how I was saying Super 8 when they were named something else in early on early days . They were sort of like the comedy group , yeah , compared to , say , the cartoon and arashi and news and stuff , like they always seemed sort of more like they were performance art as opposed to a musical group , like they were just a comedy troupe who sang once in a while , so it's funny you know , and west sort of got away from that .

Speaker 2

They're still , they're funny , but they yeah , they have their their comedic thing , but there were some songs that I'm like whoa well they were . Shadows is one of my favorite that it's like yeah , completely different well , it was sort of as an image .

Speaker 1

They were allowed to be more like a performing band , whereas Kanjani 8 were expected to clown around . I mean , super 8 were expected to clown around and be funny and Naniwa , of course , we know , can be very silly with each other .

Speaker 2

Naniwa was the cutesy side of Kansai . But yeah , they have also the comedic thing you know especially with the leader .

Speaker 1

And colorful is also . I mean , yeah , west , always the , the rainbowy imagery um . Same thing with super eight , like they always had a a rainbow theme going on . Color theme , you know , because everybody members are assigned a color , basically in all the groups , but like when you're large groups , like they were , you see it more so . But yes , bright , colorful , cheery , funny , that's what they're all about , except for shadows , which I agree , is definitely you're like , there ain't nothing funny about this .

Speaker 2

No , even their voices .

Speaker 1

I'm like oh mg I love that song . Oh mg , I love that song so much and I think they've got a few others too that give you sort of little chills .

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , yeah , oh yeah , just one cold mood . Oh yes , that's a mood right here love so , yeah , so naniwa , they're all like , yeah , they have like pants with half skirt . Uh , they're all plaid and different type of jackets . That's on , naniwa .

Speaker 1

The poor kids wore all of the seem to be all the the material well , sort of like they reached into the the wardrobe collection and just grabbed random pieces . Yeah , here , kid . Yeah , yeah it's crazy .

Speaker 2

So I'm wearing like like long skirts and half shirts and I'm like , oh , babies , they're wearing all this material . And then we have Super 8 . They're wearing , like you know , those festivals , the Okinawan festivals , the summer festivals , where they're wearing like short , white shorts with the like yukatas and whatever , so like traditional , like Japanese . I guess I'm seeing Okinawa , because I think that's the one I've seen most of these festivals from , but I guess it's just a summer thing . You wear this . So Kanjani 8 is Super 8. , Super 8 .

Speaker 2

Look at me . You said Kanjani and I went back to the old name . Super 8 is wearing like traditional , like summer clothing for like a festival . Our guys West are wearing suits with , I want to say , their correspondent colors , or maybe not . Maybe I'm trying to see it from the picture here From their correspondent color with no shirt on . It's a suit without a shirt . That's so random . No , exactly why am I ? I was like I saw this picture of oh my god , what's his name ?

Speaker 2

anyways , he's the one that always smiles , like from ear to ear , from which from west okay he is like front line and I'm like , uh that , okay , jackets open , what kind of shirt is that ? And I'm like that's not a shirt .

Speaker 1

That's his chest .

Speaker 2

There is no sure you can see he's wearing suspenders that are actually covering his nips . I'm like , what ? So ? I'm like , is he the other ? I'm looking . No , he's also shirtless . And he's also shirtless .

Speaker 2

Your boy is shirtless , my boy is shirtless and I'm like , okay , so this is a west thing . It just wears suits with no shirts on suspenders . I'm like it's like celery man going wild , that's what I'm calling it . So yeah , um , it's just cool . I , I love this . I just love this so much so the song was produced by tayayoshi okura uh from super eight , which is awesome , and the video please watch it .

Speaker 1

It's very entertaining all right , I I will definitely check that out and the song is all over the place like them , All right .

Speaker 2

So oh geez , Miss Sarah's saying girl , stop it , let's go All right .

Speaker 1

Well , we've been like ranting and rambling .

Speaker 2

I guess it was the whole concert thing where we still cannot let it go , and the whole ticket scalper thing . Please do not buy from scalpers . Stop the madness , please , please , please . People are these people are buying like seven tickets or more . I'm playing the actually buying the maximum tickets to resell them to like maximum price and it's not right , it's not fair for the fans . And uh , I'm just , I'm voicing again . Fuji kase said no , please , save your money for important things . Yeah , something more important Do not pay ridiculous prices for tickets . Put it to better use .

Speaker 1

Okay , girl , let's go All right . Plus , I'm losing my voice , I know . So thank you everybody for listening to this episode , please , awesome .

Speaker 2

Ramble , ramble .

Speaker 1

so thank you everybody for listening to this episode please awesome please rate , review and share , share , share . Give us five stars because we love our constellations and please , if you so choose , become a subscriber to maintain our podcast .

Speaker 2

I'm trying to work some voiceover or something , trying to find another hustle , extra money somewhere . I can do it . I can do it . All right Until next time . Bye-bye , bye-bye .
