OK ASIA
Hello everybody, welcome to another episode of Music Elixir, with me, sarah and DJ Panic. Uh-huh, and we're going to be doing a Rants and Rambling.
Speaker 2Yes, I was like come on, take it, rants and Rambling.
Speaker 1Rant rant, rant, rant rant rant.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, we rant a lot.
Speaker 1Yeah, we do.
Speaker 2Especially with the ticket thing. We have re-ranted for like three weeks straight yeah cool or yeah right three about three episodes worth of ticket issues and just being mad and having our rant out there on that yeah, yeah, which you know. Now I'm just gonna be ranting on pre-sales. No, I'm kidding, but I mean, yeah, I will rant a little bit on that but we did.
Speaker 1We talked about that before too, though. Yeah, you know, like it should be set aside just a certain number for pre-sale, not because so many times pre-sale has sold out an entire show. You're like what the?
Speaker 1yeah, that's not fair actually my friend who's gotten us a lot of the tickets, sent me a thing. She was trying to get tickets to a show for us and she was like damn pre-sale. See, she couldn't, she couldn't get in. Usually, I mean, she's usually like got, like whatever a code, she's right, whatever she needs to do. She didn't have it for this particular group, okay, and she was like damn pre-sale oh, you see, I'm telling you, yep, sure, pre-sale get the tickets you want anyways.
Speaker 2So yeah, we're gonna. So that's our bit of a rant of the pre-sale more coming up. I mean, more more news are coming out, the whole ticket master thing that we have shared, uh, in live nation. So we'll see, you know, and I've been seeing some things that are now running differently with ticket master because, oh, I went to check, so xg is coming to the uh us, yes, yep and uh, I I was there.
Speaker 2I'm gonna try and get tickets for the new york show. There was a pre-sale, but not one pre-sale, two. Oh really, they had two pre-sales and then the general. I'm like two pre-sales. Why you need to have two pre-sales so you have the fan club fan club pre-sale, okay. Then you had a tiktok pre-sale.
Speaker 1I'm like tiktok are they the sponsor? Is that what I don't know, because remember I was saying how you know there's like, if you have a certain credit card, yeah, the pre-sales. So that's like they sponsor the venue or the you know yeah, the artist because of the venue and whatever. This is tiktok a tiktok pre-sale.
Speaker 2That's weird, I don't know. I guess you, I don't know. So so that it happened and then the regular general uh family was able to obtain the tiktok pre-sale. Of course there were slim pickings and then the cheapest ticket was like 168, and that's without the tax and bs wow so that's when I said to you uh, it's too expensive. Yeah, I was gonna go to the.
Speaker 2Uh, go towards the cheaper one because, you know, and of course family was disappointed and I was like listen, you gotta think this is just the one seat, that's not the tax and the whatever fees, and then you gotta remember we're gonna be staying in new york. New york stays in a decent hotel has gone up over our regular price, which we usually pay like 300 a night. But we split it on people with yeah, yeah now is way beyond that. Uh, I think I've seen one for like 500 wow, yeah no for a decent hotel right.
Speaker 1Well, that's the thing, yeah, to stay someplace, nice exactly something that it just we don't feel like. I'm gonna get murdered in at night, you know, or like there's a creepo in the bathroom.
Speaker 2You know what I mean.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, I mean, and that's also you can find, because actually when family came with me, and my sister down in New York for the Last Rockstars. That hotel room was 224, I4 I think. Oh, that's not bad at all.
Speaker 1No, but that was last year, no, or two years ago, ah no, last year, last year, like well, a year and a half ago, yeah, and that I mean then that was a special deal, so I mean you can find cheap places. When we went to sugar, that was fairly inexpensive, yeah, and I told you, though, like two days later, when I looked at the, the same hotel, yeah, the prices of the hotel rooms had doubled, doubled. We got in before they realized that something huge was happening, exactly yeah, because that hotel was full of army.
Speaker 2It was, that hotel was full of army because every time we went to the lobby there was somebody dressed in their army gear you know, or coming in. We're like yeah you went to okay, so yeah, sure, you know, yeah, yeah, definitely they.
Speaker 1Yeah, they caught on quickly and increased their prices, so yeah, it just sort of depends like what's going on at the time. Oh man, boston's like that too, though.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, it's expensive staying in boston that's why I was like, if it's in boston, we just drive over there and drive all we need to pay is the I don't know 40 parking, because that's right now what we're looking at yeah, or $20 parking. You have to find cheaper ones.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, you have to again search around Exactly and figure out where you're going Instead of the overnight stay, which is hundreds of dollars you know, just drive back yeah.
Speaker 2Usually, though, we can find parking from like $15 to $40, depending on how close we want to be to the venue how how long we're staying all that exactly, and if we're gonna, usually we have something to eat, some dinner or whatever, and you know what restaurants are around. We see we plan accordingly. You know we'll spend the 100 200 for that day then, just like that plus whatever stay, which will be too expensive.
Speaker 1Hey, we cheap, but we want to have fun in the cheap but not break bank exactly.
Speaker 2You know just like, oh, the cindy lapper farewell, farewell tickets, oh, wow gee, I'm like I gotta see her before she retires. I'm like, oh no, no, now I know why you're retiring, you're gonna take all this money and run for real. Yeah, it was the cheapest one. I that I saw was the 333. That was a funny 333.
Speaker 1Wow, really yes was that resale or was that just? No, that was the regular price, wow yes oh my god in boston dang I know, girl.
Speaker 2That's why I'm like I don't even want to see the resale on those right oh my god so yeah, but so that's uh yeah once. I mean, it's concert season, we just gotta sit tight and see who is coming to Boston. We have been very fortunate that a lot of the acts that we wanted to see or have been seeing are coming to Boston. Hello.
Speaker 1Epic Hi. Yes, I know right, I am this close to buy the last thing I know I was like I was was gonna talk to you about that. I'm like should we buy that? Maybe buy the little mini keychain, oh my god, I do.
Speaker 2It's so cool though I'm like, do I want a light stick?
Speaker 1is it park? You do? I want a light stick. Oh my god, they've got a name for it yeah, park q something like that. But yeah, I was like hey you know, but then I am, yes, from monster x coming to boston, coming to boston we just saw p harmony. Yes, we did p sorry.
Speaker 2P1 harmony p1. P1 Harmony P, harmony, p, harmony.
Speaker 1P1 Harmony. I made it an I instead of a one. I don't know what the hell is wrong with it. But yeah, we saw them.
Speaker 2I thought Ashigako was also coming to Boston. I saw Sims. Who else is actually coming?
Speaker 1Oh, the DPR kids, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, do you wanna I?
Speaker 2don't know, ian. Yeah, we should try. Okay, we'll see. See how it goes, I know let's see, doesn't always work out but I know.
Speaker 1So, but see like with epic high, that was through their ticket like their website. Yeah that you got the tickets I got some cool seats.
Speaker 2I got some cool seats. I'm like I always wanted to sit there.
Speaker 1Now it's my time, so it's cool, but part of that's also because the the venue is not one of those owned by the big super. Yeah, so they can sell their own tickets.
Speaker 2Yes yes, we've been there before for the uh day six. Yes, what's up the orpheum um? The seat turned out the best, unless hopefully they have fixed the seats, oh my god I don't know well, where we're sitting is different. I don't know if they have fixed it okay we'll see hopefully they have done some maintenance for this.
Speaker 1I haven't been to the orpheum in a few years now.
Speaker 2Well, I haven't been since day that was my first time was day six? Oh really, yeah, oh, okay, at the Orpheum.
Speaker 1Because I saw Simple Minds and Echo and the Bunnymen there, ah cool, like I think right before the pandemic. Oh, that's why I'm saying it's been a while since I've been. It's been a few years, okay.
Speaker 2So we're hoping that the seating is better. Yeah, Well, you know, Because let me tell you that seat that I was on for day six. It was falling apart.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, I mean, the Orpheum is another one of those. It's like the Wang, the Bach Theater there and the Wilbur. They're old, old theater theaters.
Speaker 2Yeah, but those things look like they were remodeled. They have fixed them. What at the Wang?
Speaker 1Yeah, when we went to see P1 Harmony. They did some updating, but if you go to the Wilbur next door, not so much.
Speaker 2Well, hopefully they just revamp the whole, you know, remodel the whole, you know everything orpheum.
Speaker 1For years they've been talking about. You know, we're gonna remodel, we're gonna remodel.
Speaker 2I have not seen it happen maybe I'll look, see if I, if I can find any news about you know, going to their websites and see if they have done some um sprucing up of the venue you know I mean wow, was this like around colonial time I don't know how old it is, but it's definitely old?
Speaker 2it is definitely old okay, speaking of venues, just recently about, let me see. So today is June 15. I saw a post from somebody that we love to follow. His name is Jeff Benjamin. He's an awesome person, not just because he's a writer for Billboard and Forbes and whatever, but no, he's just an awesome person. He's an awesome person. He's an awesome reporter and his interviews are so cool too. Love it. He understands K-pop, so that's why I always follow him and go to him for anything that's going on in the craziness that is K-pop news, you know. So he just posted on his ex Twitter just to share a final update here Artie Fest, which is a festival out in Europe, has announced on Instagram that its inaugural festival is now officially postponed following three artists pulling out of the lineup.
Speaker 2Three artists pulling out of the lineup uh, the afterglow party after party will continue as scheduled with a new location. So apparently this adifest is, uh, um, out in europe I forgot exactly where in europe, but they were doing like a k-pop thing and three groups have actually pulled out of the event and I'm like huh, like what the heck? But the funny thing that earlier this year, you know, there was another one that happened actually this year, last year, but this year for some reason it didn't Weebridge.
Speaker 1Yes, remember.
Speaker 2Weebridge. Around April of last year year they did their thing. That was in vegas. So this year they were, of course, trying to revive. We bridge same situation people, they pull out and then for some reason they're just like, uh, we're just gonna cancel the event yeah, no, that one, well, because they had the issues with the one the year before.
Speaker 1Yeah, they still did it. Even though they tried, everything got foobarred in a big way.
Speaker 2And then, guess what? There's no K-pop New York. There's only K-pop LA, not K-pop.
Speaker 1K-con, k-con, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2K-con LA. One thing that I was watching for kcon la they were already putting out the prices of the tickets without a lineup and people were posting. I ain't buying no tickets. Where's the lineup?
Speaker 1yeah, where is the lineup? You expect us to buy something without knowing, without exactly, without knowing, without exactly what about?
Speaker 2spending thousands of dollars for a festival that will probably not happen and you will take my money because, of course, tax and all the fees are not refundable, you know oh interesting.
Speaker 1So this ARIA Fest, it was going to be the first one. Yeah, oh yeah, I was under the impression that it was something that had happened before.
Speaker 2No, it's no from ben, he said jeff sorry, jeff said the. Uh just share update here. Inaugural festival yeah. So it was supposed to be a first kind of k-poppy or our asian show, I guess.
Speaker 1Festival yeah did you found their x twitter. No, I found their instagram. Okay, so I guess it was going to happen in greece, which would have been pretty cool, yeah but I'm not seeing.
Speaker 2It was going to happen on june 20 in Falido Arena, Athens, Greece.
Speaker 1And they're saying there is some sort of after party thing. Yeah, that is still happening, but yeah, that had nothing to do with the actual so.
Speaker 2Jeff said that the after party will still continue, but the actual festival is not happening. But the actual festival is not happening, but they were actually. Uh, but they are going to refund the tickets for those who have actually bought them gosh.
Speaker 1What a nightmare, though, and you know they didn't even launch this festival.
Speaker 2I feel so sorry wow that's just great.
Speaker 1I was, yeah, I was trying to see who was even technically in the lineup to show up for it, and yeah is nothing yeah, all I've been seeing are the.
Speaker 2Due to our secret this is on june 12 due to our this is and I'm reading from adi adia fest officialtwitter due to our circumstances during the preparation process from the festival. So who and chanyeol will unfortunately be unable to attempt adia fest 2024 in the light of the current situation. We inform you that the performances of the aforementioned artists have been canceled. We apologize from for any disappointment or inconvenience this update may cost. We are dedicated to ensure satisfaction, satisfaction experience for all our guests. And they just keep apologizing here. Wow, so that was one.
Speaker 1Oh, ab ab6 was gonna be there. I'm finally finding stuff about who was gonna the group one and only was supposed to be there from japan, who else? Look like sister 19. Uh yeah, I think they're a duet group from the.
Speaker 2Who else Look like Sistar19.
Speaker 1Ah, yeah.
Speaker 2I think they're a duet group from the group Sista.
Speaker 1They're K-pop, mm-hmm. Chanyeol of EXO.
Speaker 2Yeah, which is more K-pop. Let's see.
Speaker 1So Suho Omega X Wow.
Speaker 2So it looked like they have a pretty good roster. Yeah, abc6 oh my god, our boys remember we saw them and they were so good.
Speaker 1Yep, so yeah, it looks like a really good.
Speaker 2It was supposed to be a really good lineup. Uh, unfortunately I don't know what happened. Not enough solo tickets, we don't know, we? I just came upon this post from jeff and I'm like what is this? You know, um, unless they just kept it relatively local for greece? Yeah, you know, I mean, even on their ex twitter, they only have like 738 followers. What about their instagram? How many followers do they only have? Like 738 followers? What about their Instagram? How many followers do they have there?
Speaker 1I'd have to go back to it. I was going to say there's something weird, though. Two days ago they put out a statement about we want to remind everyone that we do not tolerate any form of harassment, bullying, discrimination, hate speech or other harmful behaviors to other guests, artists or team members. Maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment is our top priority and we will take action if necessary. So I mean, I guess all kinds of stuff's been going down. Going back to the instagram seriously want me to do this now. Instagram wants me to update now.
Speaker 2Oh, no, okay, I follow. I found it. Uh. They have like 10 11 000 uh followers okay so yeah, that's a bit more, but it's still 11 000. That's not a lot of followers and all the groups how so? Who was like really sponsoring this? And there's not much like promotion on instagram. They have like four posts unless everything was real, no is it?
Speaker 1well, it's because they're affiliated with another group, like do you see the MAD TV? So that's TV Greece Radio. That's like their media organization, I guess.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1In Greece, so it's something I guess being put together by.
Speaker 2By a bigger company.
Speaker 1Yeah, ah, because there's the ARIA group also.
Speaker 2Yeah, global Hence called ARIA Fest, of course.
Speaker 1Yep, huh. So I'm wondering if they've done other festivals, non-k-pop related, I don't know, interesting, because the ARIA group has a different. The ARIA Fest was just for this event they opened that account.
Speaker 2They wanted to try out different. They want to venue out different. You know music genre yeah and maybe that's when things started to happen. People were like, uh, new, well, it looks like I don't know Other things have happened.
Asian Music Festival Organization Chaos
Speaker 1I don't know. It must be. This specific festival just didn't work out right Because, looking at the ARIA group, they have a lot more different things going on since like 2022. Okay, I don't know, but we've had our share of brouhaha's going on with the oh yeah, Our first place.
Speaker 2This is the first festival that we encountered that we started using the word shit show. Wow, and Jeff was in there.
Speaker 1How about that. Yeah, this is where we met him.
Speaker 2That's exactly where we met him. He was out there in the common area with everybody, and also the poor artists that were in the common area with everybody, and I'm like, oh my God, oh my God, we met awesome people. Yes, we did.
Speaker 1Definitely. And just I mean oh my God, we met awesome people.
Speaker 2Yes, we did, oh wow. And just I mean, it was definitely an experience that was so nutty and they just did not want to pull the plug. These people did not want to give money back. That's what happened.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2You know, I think they just spent as much as they could and they didn't want to lose the money. They did not want it to lose money and, oh my goodness, there were people that flew from europe to not be given what it was in the package, because there were packages, yeah, no, the the tears, yeah, based on what you were gonna participate in and yeah what you were gonna see, even for the media. They didn't even provide it what they said they were gonna do yeah we were supposed to have a special special section.
Speaker 1That, yeah, the special section then turned out to be also the fan section yeah, and it's like just pushed to the front of the flag I'm like, um, seriously, this is supposed to be our section, but because they're so overcrowded and mismanaged, you know the location now, there's just you fence for yourself well, and the other thing too was, uh, it was supposed to originally have like food stalls and drinks and all this stuff, and like there was a bar in this venue that they switched to yeah, it wasn't even open the whole time, nope, and originally they weren't gonna let you out and re-enter, but they had to because people are like we're dying of thirst, we're starving and you have no provisions here for us.
Speaker 2So they had to switch that up too yeah yeah, that was we had the access because um we were media yeah we were able to go in and out that we're like, okay, let's go, I'll get something and get out of this craziness, you know.
Speaker 1But I mean a lot of fans didn't well, and a lot of people just chose not to try and move anywhere because then they'd lose their spot. Exactly yeah, it was just that, was definitely exactly.
Speaker 2That was the crowning glory of shit show oh yeah, kexpo, never gonna forget it, never gonna forget it, but the memories, you know oh yeah, the memories.
Speaker 2We met some awesome people I soon you know contact out of them, you know, so that's cool yeah, that's the best thing I got out of it, you know, just, you know, meeting other people in the media and be like, yeah, remember this. I'm like, oh, you know, how are you? You know, so, yeah, like what's going on? You know, kcon not releasing a lineup, releasing the ticket prices, first WeBridge, you know, pulling the plug on their second year, and then this RDS Fest. That didn't even. You know they're like we're not even starting anything.
Speaker 1Yeah, they didn't even get know. They're like we're not even starting anything we started and get off the ground yeah.
Speaker 2So, uh, what's going on with k-pop or just asian festivals? You know, yeah, I don't know. Wow, well, you found that out. You know, like that message from adi fs, you know the whole, we don't tolerate that yeah, I don't know what that was in reference.
Speaker 1Like if people are giving them a hard time because of what happened, or if people were complaining about the artists that were going to be. I mean, you know, it's sort of weird because that that message was from a couple days ago, so okay, it's just, yeah, yeah, very weird.
Speaker 2So I just wanted to touch on that and like another thing that, yeah, I'm just keeping an eye on, like what is going on, so you know what. So it's better off, it's just your favorite, just come on tour yes instead of having this kind of festivals if you know things are not going to work out.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's just weird because there's I mean, look at Coachella works, and yeah, there's a few other big events, lollapalooza and you know things that that do work out. Is this because of the artists? Is this because of the media companies? Is this because of the organization that's trying to host the festival? Like, where is the problem starting Right? Because that's it's just, it's just weird, people, you know. Is it the artists being flaky and being like, yeah, sure, we'll do this festival?
Speaker 2Oh wait, no, we don't want to go there exactly. Yeah, that's not good. It's just especially like more than one is just start pulling out. You know it's like right what happened. You know, this is some things that the what do you call it? The festival was promising but then really not delivering, at last minute, you know. And then artists are like well, we're pulling out.
Inappropriate Fan Behavior at Events
Speaker 1But remember what happened, um, when they did have k-con in new york and we went, a couple of bands had trouble. Like a couple of groups had trouble with visas and permissions to travel, right. So I mean, if it's something like that, that's when you know you're doing this, the company hosting and the company sending should be in better communication about exactly what's necessary. Right, you know. But I mean, of course, there's all kinds of messed up things, like if you fly into Canada and then try to come back to the us too soon, they freak out, or vice versa. You know, I mean, like it's, there's so many weird rules of traveling. Okay, if you've been to a country, you can't leave and come back too soon.
Speaker 2Yeah, no travels travels are strange something got complicated creature.
Speaker 1Yes, so okay, we know other artists who've flown over like every other month. So yeah, it's just weird it is something, something deeper going on that we we don't know about yet, but we can't sure it'll come up, definitely, yeah, somebody will start talking about it.
Speaker 2So this happened to me. You know, like blah blah, blah blah, you were like, oh, so that's what happened, you know, okay. So, oh my God, what else is happening? Oh, we know, jane is back.
Speaker 1I was going to say my boyfriend came back from the military.
Speaker 2Somebody was sexually assaulting your boyfriend.
Speaker 1I know two, apparently two people that's.
Speaker 2You know. That is so just inappropriate behavior I've been seeing this. People are like, well, he asked for it. Why did he want it to have people hug him um, hugging, not kissing. Yeah, he wasn't asking for his. What is this? This is victim blaming they're victim blaming that's not right.
Speaker 1He wanted to do sort of like the old fan meets, where they'd, you know, hold your hand or whatever he wanted to do something a little more special a hug. He did not. Yeah, it was not an invitation to like nuzzle his neck and give him a hickey.
Speaker 2You know what I mean, okay girl wasn't a hickey, because he was like, really like I'm just saying it's like I mean his expression on like ah you know like yeah, what the heck is going well, like I said, that feels so bad for him that's such an invasion.
Speaker 1You know what I mean kissing your neck, and yeah, yeah, no, it's just too much it is sexual assault.
Speaker 2You, just you, know well we were.
Speaker 1we we sort of talked about this a little earlier too. I was like kissing on the neck is a much more personal than even a kiss on the cheek, you know what I mean. Or a kiss on the lips, because usually that's like a quick little, you know? Yeah, like the neck, that's an intimate moment for people, and you don't get to do that to your idol on stage during an event like this now well, you know, these people are now in.
Speaker 2They're in deep shit. They need to hide in the sewers because people yeah, I'm sure just these two ladies, because they're a female are now, um, oh yeah, army has their face, probably their name, where they live, yeah, and uh, yeah, watch your back, may want to change your hair color. You might want to move, move, or maybe a new country? Yeah, just yeah, live in a very remote area.
Speaker 1Well, because they yeah, they're being brought up on charges. Oh yeah, that's there's.
Speaker 2So we uh, there was an article that came out on all k-pop uh, that happened on june 14. It says fans who kiss bts jin during fans yes, you said two uh during the free hug event face sexual harassment charges. Charges is not going to be enough, girl. Well, that's what ARMY's saying. That's not enough. We are going to bring hell to their lives.
Speaker 1I guess they're banned for life from any bts events. So yeah, when everybody's out and they start gathering and doing tours and stuff, these people will not be able to go. No, I don't know how that'll be upheld, but it's I'm probably their photos at the door entrance. Do not let these people photos probably they have taken fingerprints.
Speaker 2Uh, you know their name. Ads.
Speaker 1You know address oh yeah, date of birth, everything they got everything you're criminals at this.
Speaker 2You are a criminal because if you're being given this sexual harassment charges, you are a criminal.
Speaker 2Yep you are so let's see, if they do sexual harassment charges, you are a criminal, yep, you are. So let's see, if they do sexual harassment charges, will you be a sex offender? I'm not sure, ha, I don't know how that is. If it is that way, and if you are in the United States and let me check this out, because if you are happy with those charges and you have come out guilty of those charges, I think you would be, are become to be, a sex offender. So if you have lived in the us, a sex offender you have to then tell people where you live, if you move.
Speaker 1Yeah, you have to disclose it when you're applying for jobs. Yeah, exactly, exactly, but I don't know, see, I'm not sure if harassment like I'm not sure it falls under the same category. I don't know. Either way, these fans are in deep doo-doo Because, like it wasn't, it wasn't enough that you're getting a hug from my boyfriend, you have to attack him and everybody. Please do not freak out. You know how I have. I have a boyfriend in every band.
Speaker 2I think everybody does.
Speaker 1So I don't understand. You know, I barely wanted to do the handshake when we, when we met the gazette, I felt like weird, like shaking their hand, like I shouldn't be touching you, you know what?
Speaker 2I know I was like shaking their hand, looking at their faces oh my god, rookie.
Speaker 1So like you know, I just can't imagine like that, knowing that he's like willing to give you this hug, yeah, why do you have to take it that step further? Exactly like he's not doing just a handshake, like the usual fan meets, he's, he's going one step further and, and that's not enough for you, oh, my god, and everyone. Yeah, someone was like they're trying to say they were swept up in the moment. I was like you don't kiss someone's neck. Swept up in the moment, no, especially someone you don't know. You know what I mean you don't know him Swept up in the moment.
Speaker 2It's a moment that, let's say, you look at each other's eye and there's like a long embrace, yeah, this is not a long embrace, and look into the eye exactly that moment, you were one in a sea of faces.
Speaker 1You know exactly. But he was doing this is his job, like the fan meet stuff. You know they shake your hand, they sign your your album, like it's just part of the job, and part of the job is not getting attacked by people while he's doing it, I know Anyway you know, I'm not trying to detract from the people who got to go do that. I personally probably have just passed out as I approached him. I feel, like I don't know if I could hug him Right.
Speaker 2Well, remember, when we met the Gazette, left like oh my god, what did just? Happen yeah I mean just getting a hug. I'll probably just faint.
Speaker 1Right, that's what I mean. I'm like I don't know that the hug would even happen, because I'd be like, exactly I'm gonna have some smelling salt right next to you, because I'm gonna be like oh you know, I'd like, probably like, hold his arms and be like it's you and then faint exactly. Oh my god poor guy, I know.
Speaker 2I've seen some fan cams. They're like, oh, they're like freaking out.
Speaker 1I'm like, I'm surprised nobody jumped on her jump on any of these fans like not just only well I'm surprised the security guy didn't rip them off and drag them away somewhere. Yeah, like the fact that they got to just continue on with the rest of the well, I guess that was the end of the event, anyways, but like get your butt escorted out under heavy guard poor guy.
Speaker 2I know when I heard that and even after even after that he was still.
Speaker 1Jen was like so that's it, that's all of them, everybody's done. He was willing to give more hugs. Such a sweet guy he is. He's been back 24 hours doing all of this stuff. You know Craziness. Well, you know there's been a series of sort of bad behaviors with fans Down in DC TXT. Did you see that? The storming of the gates by the fans they like, knocked over the fencing and rushing what.
Speaker 2Yeah For general admission. Is this happening for general admission? I?
Speaker 1think so, yeah, that's messed up. And then some people's P1 Harm down in pennsylvania maybe I thought it was in the south, it might have been further, so maybe nashville one of somewhere where they went yeah like they got swarmed by fans and they sort of yeah you know, tried to take it in stride, but like people were stalking them yeah, yeah. Like following them everywhere. And it's just you know, and then trying to be like no, we just happened to be there.
Speaker 2Yeah, playing it off yeah.
Speaker 1Okay, whatever you say.
Speaker 2Just like dude, yeah, yeah, you're in the middle of the street yelling their name, yeah, so to get their attention. Mm, hmm, I name, yeah, so to get their attention. I'm like, ah, no, no, it's. I feel bad for these kids and let me tell you our boston show omg, we talked about it. The fans were off the hook. I needed earplugs yeah and I'm like I'm trying to listen to the guy talk.
Speaker 1Yeah, exactly you know well, it's just there's a difference between, like, we've been walking in the streets of boston and seeing bands that we were going to be seeing perform the next night or later in the day. I mean, even here where we live, there's a couple of little venues, yeah, and the artists come and I've seen them on the street and usually like, because I'm so not expecting to even see them, yeah, I'm like, hey, you know, like poor Henry Rollins.
Speaker 1I, I'm gonna say the poor guy, he must have been like what the hell is wrong with her, because I, he had a coffee. I had a coffee. I was like, oh, hey, and then I'm like he has no idea who I am. And he was like hi. And then bolted because I think he was afraid I was suddenly going to be like oh yeah, but we did that with uh.
Speaker 1Knights are ab yeah, they were passing by, but like hey, see you later, aren't you the band we're gonna go see, you know? So I mean, it's just, you know what?
Speaker 2I just remember remember okay, oh, sorry, when we went to see Fishbone and Madness yes, and we were having ice cream the two slender guys that went by us, that Rachel goes like oh, those two are going to the show. Look at them, all decked out. And they turned out to be in Fishbone. I was like, wait a minute, those were the guys that Rachel was like, hey, those guys are, they're all decked out for this show.
Speaker 1Well, because they're newer. They're newer additions, newer members. Exactly Did he know, Like, oh hey, we're like, yeah, that's like really cool outfits, outfits. But but, like I said so, even though times where you know you, you follow this band and you know them perfectly and everything, when you're out in the real world and you just have these organic encounters, yeah, you're not expecting it. You know, like like, if you go hunting down your favorite artists, you're stalking them yeah, of course you're gonna shout their name when you see them.
Speaker 1Yeah but if you, but if you were really just happened to be out and about and you saw them, your reaction would be totally different. Oh yeah, you'd sort of be like this stunned silence, pretty much, you know, or a possible like, aren't you so-and-so?
Speaker 2exactly like wow, that person looks so much like. And then later on, oh my god, it was them. Because you don't expect that exactly. You don't expect that.
Speaker 1So that's, that's what I'm saying when it's when it's just a, a natural occurrence, like, yeah, you don't have time to none of it registers. Yeah, you just stand there looking stupid afterwards, because you're like oh you just to you know.
Speaker 2You know, come on, these are people like you and I. You know they're doing like you and I do going out for a coffee, getting something to eat, getting going to the newsstand, go doing, going shopping. Yeah, they're just like us. They do regular thing like us.
Speaker 1Yes, they do have something extra that we admire so much about, but you know, let them be people right, exactly, and plus, they're always at a disadvantage because you, like I said you, you don't know them. You are a fan, you know their birth date and their favorite color. You know what I mean. But, like, as far as being able to say, hey, jin, you don't know him, he'd be like who are you? What? Right, you know what I mean. Right and that's how it is with these artists is is we. We know them in as much as we have access to so much of their lives, but they don't know you and you can't expect them to always be like hey, hi, nice to see you when they're trying to have dinner with their family.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, that's no private moment with you know, other members or artists that they're hanging out. You know what I mean. So, yeah, like we got to keep these things in mind, keep them in check and and, like I said, I've I've been a silly, giddy fan girl when we met, because I was like you know, I mean like I couldn't form a sentence. I was like that was him.
Speaker 2But they're so, so down to earth and I'm like why am I gaga over a punk band? But it's because it's sims, right, you know. And I was like, why am I like that?
Speaker 1they're you know, but this is also different. This was an organized meeting, so they were expecting to just have to deal with people like me going Exactly.
Speaker 2And that's different.
Fan Behavior Etiquette and Updates
Speaker 1That's completely different. So this thing with Jen, it should have been different. The behavior of these people was so wrong and so inappropriate yeah and even if you knew him, even if you were friends with him, is that how you would behave? Is that how you greet your friends? No, when you give them a hug, you nuzzle their neck and kiss them.
Speaker 2No, exactly so I'll go to sarah's like hey, right, so this is yeah, so this is not yeah even unless you're in europe, there's different kissing because it's the the side of the in puerto rico is the same team too. We, we do that, but I think lately that has stopped and it's just now in just family and really close friends right but like just somebody that just randomly meet.
Speaker 2No, yeah no, no, definitely that's what they have let go with I never liked that when I was growing up, when I was a kid, and I'm like why? Is everybody kissing me. You know, when you're a kid you're like oh, it's a cute man. It's like who are you?
Speaker 1why are you?
Speaker 2kissing me, you know. Yeah, it's just creepy, but anyways, yeah, yeah, that just so good. Sexual harassment yes, there you go, take that charge, mm-hmm, and get the wrath of army.
Speaker 1Yeah, most of what we're saying is just remember that you're idols, they're people too. They're just like us. Act appropriately if you're going to a planned event like this, yep, act appropriately. If you see them out on the street, it's okay to acknowledge them. If you make eye contact, but don't rush at them, don't scream, then just let it be what it is a moment that you, you know, recognize exactly. Let them live their lives. So, unless it's your meet and greet, don't be like right, don't go hunting them down. You let it happen, naturally. If it's gonna happen, you know exactly they're just they're.
Speaker 2The job is to be an entertainer. That's it. It's an entertainer, that's it not. Not your private sex toy, yeah?
Speaker 1and not at your beck and call for you know they don't. They don't owe you anything. No, they've entertained you, they've put out an album, they did their show, whatever, they don't owe you anything more, exactly. So let them. Let them be people and live their lives exactly. Have a meal in peace, go buy a new pair of pants, you know. Let them do these things.
Speaker 2It's like enough, enough, geez, there was. What else happened today? Um, not today, but this week, june is back. June got sexually harassed. Jeez, what a welcome I know right uh festivals starting and not even happening. Uh tickets now it's gonna be more pre-sales than than regular, I know this is yeah for yeah for xg. Two pre-sales like what the hell?
Speaker 2two pre-sales I was like crazy yeah no, I'm like man, um, but yeah, but tickets are getting expensive for sure, especially for very popular artists, definitely. But you know, a lot of the our favorites are coming to our area, which I'm very happy, you know, I'm I'm very, very happy, I don't know what else to what else has happened?
Speaker 1oh to be or not, to be no yeah and their prime streaming.

I think the announcement happened this week, so they uh showed this drone um and youtube drone show really cool on June 12th that they're going to be prime streaming this show they put down August 16th from us to the world.
Speaker 2So, going to be part of prime to get that show. When is August 16th? Is that on a weekend? Better be on a weekend and hopefully we don't have a concert that day, because we're like?
Speaker 1I don't think so.
Speaker 2The 16th is a Friday.
Speaker 1Okay, no, we do have a concert, but it's like the week before, so we're good, okay, anyway, so cool, awesome.

Speaker 2That was like my first and last concert experience of Arashi.
Speaker 1Well, I did that, I did the Smile Up concerts, I did the Waku Waku school. I mean, I was like I was crazy, you're like I'm supporting crazy.
