Afghanistan, India, Pakistan. Matthew Asada has been stationed across the globe, but his real passion was the recent assignment in Dubai for the 2020 Expo, along with his Michigan roots.
Listen to our guest Matthew Asada as tells us about his compelling story of world travel and assignments for the U.S. Department of State, and a firsthand account of his role as the former Deputy Commissioner General at USA Pavilion at World Expo 2020 Dubai. Matthew is a fourth generation Japanese-American and third generation public servant. He joined the U.S. Foreign Service as a political officer in 2003 and has literally been around the world. Hear about his first love of expos and other global mega events since his time in South Korea. He is currently instructing at USC Center for Public Diplomacy as well as doing some publishing. He is also interested in subnational diplomacy and recaps other anecdotes of his endeavors. He also recalls high school years in Rochester, Michigan.
