3.6: Deconstructing Politics & Our Idea of Pro-Life, ft Shane Claiborne
Jul 06, 2024 Season 3 Episode 6
Tiffany Dawn

Today we're talking with Shane Claiborne, exploring politics and the idea of being pro-life. What does it mean to be pro-life? What issues are important to consider (through the lens of Jesus) when we're voting? What does the Bible teach us about politics? What does it mean to BE a peacemaker?

I LOVED this interview and can't wait to share it with you. Welcome back to  "Outgrowing the Good Christian Girl"!
 XOXO, Tiffany

 HERE ARE TODAY'S QUESTIONS:
Q1: What does deconstruction mean to you? (@5:01)

Q2: For me deconstruction has had a lot to do with how I understand Scripture and its intent. How do you understand biblical intent and how has that evolved on your journey? (@14:02)

Q3: You have a ton of resources for people who are trying to navigate faith, deconstruction, politics, and pro-life. Can you tell us about these? Where else can my listeners find you? (@19:03)

Q4: Now let's get into our discussion on politics and pro-life. My first question is: What does the Bible actually teach us about politics and our political party? (@21:17)

Q5: In what ways should faith inform our politics? What issues are important to consider from a biblical worldview that we don't always think about? (@29:30)

Q6: Some Christians would say that biblical justice is different than our culture's idea of social justice. Can you talk about this? What is justice, and why is it important to God? (@38:58)

Q7: How do we look at current events as Christians? So often we use our western understanding of scripture as a cop-out, or in a way that can do more harm than good. But how do we look at current events through the lens of Jesus? (@44:03)

Q8: In a nutshell, how can we respond to world events as peace makers? And what does it mean to actually BE a peacemaker? (@52:24)
