Tiffany Dawn

Today we're talking with Wendy Snyder about parenting young children in a firm but KIND manner. What does Jesus Himself teach us about parenting? Has our preoccupation with sin caused our kids not to trust their hearts and bodies? What are some practical parenting strategies?

I LOVED this interview and can't wait to share it with you. Welcome back to  "Outgrowing the Good Christian Girl"! XOXO, Tiffany

HERE ARE TODAY'S QUESTIONS:
Q1: What does deconstruction mean to you? (@5:07)

Q2: For me deconstruction has had a lot to do with how I understand Scripture and its intent. How do you understand biblical intent and how has that evolved on your journey? (@7:54)

Q3: Let’s dive into that Bible verse about “sparing the rod.” Would you speak to the idea of spanking? (@14:03)

Q4: What is the biblical precedent for using other methods of discipline, or a gentler approach to parenting young children? (@21:50)

Q5: There are many misconceptions about what “gentle parenting” even means. What are some of those misconceptions, and what does “gentle parenting” or “positive parenting” even mean? (@24:20)

Q6: Let’s talk about Psalm 51:5, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” I grew up thinking that misbehavior came from sin, whereas modern psychology seems to be at odds with this. Can you help us better understand Psalm 51:5 and this idea of seeing kids as sinful? (@31:25)

Q7: What are a few tips for more loving, more compassionate parenting? Especially if your child is struggling with behaviors that seem negative? (@38:46)

Q8: If a parenting is struggling with setting and following through on boundaries with their children, what advice would you give? (@46:25)

Q9: You have a ton of resources for parents who want to learn more about a powerful and positive approach to parenting. Can you share those resources with us? (@51:38)
