World of Horror with Mom & Mac

Mother and son team Mom and Mac discuss, analyze, dissect and explore international horror movies. Conversations are casual but spoiler-heavy. We take turns choosing a genre or subgenre of horror and pairing an international film with an American one. Past episodes have included: Funny Games, One Missed Call, Let the Right One In/Let Me In. Genres we have covered are Animal Attack (BOAR from Australia and TREMORS); Creepy Kids (GOODNIGHT, MOMMY from Austria and ORPHAN); Battle Royale-type films (BATTLE ROYALE from Japan and THE BELKO EXPERIMENT); Haunted Houses (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME from Venezuela and BEETLEJUICE). Hi, WoHos!

This week we looked at Alex Garland's MEN. Yep. We did that.

Mom was at first more sympathetic to Garland's jazzy style of filmmaking, but that didn't last long when we dove deeper into it.

There is a lot to recommend this, but there is a lot that suggests that you may want to run far, far away from this one and watch CIVIL WAR instead.

Next time we are talking about movies about stalkers with SINGLE WHITE FEMALE from the US and THE CRY OF THE OWL, which is an American-British-Canadian-French-German co-production (according to Wikipedia). It is based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, so you know Mom is onboard!
