Mental Puddles

Here are some of the mental puddles we step in all the time. The objective is to start noticing them as they approach, so we can sidestep them. This allows us to operate from higher, dryer ground to avoid walking around all wet.

Be on the lookout for these.

  Life shouldn’t contain pain.

  It’s not my fault.

That’s just the way I am.

  If only . . .

  I’ll be happy when . . .

  Mom/Dad loved my (sister/brother) more.

I’ll wait for them to make the first move.

  I don’t need to apologize.

  Fat turns into muscle.

Nobody understands me.

  I’m right.

•  Opportunity is looking for me.

I’m sure you have your own candidates to add to the list of puddles to avoid. These are just a few starter suggestions to keep you high and dry.

All the best,

John
