Losing credibility and trust

Editor: Re: “Meta’s shift to ‘Community Notes’ makes trusted local newspapers even more vital,” Jan 15, 2025. I agree 100 percent with Dean Ridings. In his article, Ridings says that Meta’s actions to eliminate fact checking, “further highlights the importance newspapers play in providing reliable, vetted information to their communities.” Ironically, in the same edition the publisher praised Joseph Mercola, who did not agree with the destruction of millions of chickens to prevent the spread of bird flu and herds of cattle quarantined to prevent the contamination of the milk supply.
