Strong winds create dangerous fire issues

Wilson County area firefighters have been kept busy, as weather conditions — warm, dry weather with low humidity and strong, gusting winds — continue to create fire danger. Among the fires within the past week, Wilson County District 1 Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched March 15 for a grass fire located in the 1500 block of F.M. 1346 near the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, “which was spreading very quickly due to the elevated winds and extreme fire conditions,” according to Battalion Chief Bobby Blankenship.
