The late 1980s saw UK-based bands dominate with records like Up Front, Cool & Deadly, and Premi Strikes Again. However, Punjab still had some young and hungry vocalists after the death of Chamkila, including Sardool Sikander, Hans Raj Hans, and the now-forgotten Kuldip Paras.

Although Paras never saw the success and longevity of his contemporaries mentioned above, he recorded two classic albums, Jee Karda Chuk Le Javan and Gal Mukdi Aake Daru Te, which cemented his legacy as a folk hero.
