Beau Shaniuk & Lauren Landers

In this episode of T Time, we gratefully and excitedly kick off this month's plans with our very first PRIDE Month guest, Ellen! In this reboot of the new (and improved) Ellen Show, we introduce you all to family friend and long-time LGBTQIA+ community member, Ellen, who is a 48-year-old lesbian woman, wife, mother, and healthcare worker. With nearly 30 years of education, experience, and exposure to life in the LGBTQIA+ community, this week's guest walks us through what life has been like for her as a White, cisgender lesbian woman, and how it has changed over the last few decades. From gay bars in the 80s and Don't Ask Don't Tell, to the legalization of gay marriage and transgender High Priestesses, Ellen uses her storytelling to offer very interesting perspectives on the progress that has been made for LGBTQIA+ individuals, while simultaneously highlighting the progress that still has yet to be achieved. We also learn her perspective on the experiential differences of the various letters in the queer acronym, as well as why it's so important for other members of LGBTQIA+ communities to work to protect trans and non-binary folx.
