First Corinthians Part 18: Prophecy

Scan the tabloids at your local grocery store check-out line, and you’ll see a litany of “prophecies” about future events. Biblical prophecy, however, is much different. Sure, there were times when there was a foretelling of future events, but practical prophecy is simply telling the truth of God for the benefit of others. Biblical prophecy is aligned with Scripture, founded on love, and yielded to the Holy Spirit. It is not something that we can produce on our own. It inspires the Spirit of God within us, and brings encouragement, correction, or comfort to someone else. It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of the Lord speaking through us, and fear of getting it wrong shouldn’t hold us back from pursuing prophecy.
