It's All BS
It's All BS
Season 2 - #19 What Could You Learn if you Just Listened?
A couple of weeks ago I had an incredibly embarrassing and frustrating thing happen to me. As you may know, I have a foot that is fused in the walking position. When I go down stairs, it requires precise balance and placement of my foot to navigate that.
On this particular evening, I was leaving a writers’ night in downtown Nashville, and I did not properly place my foot while going down the stairs, causing me to tumble down the steps and hit my head on the concrete. The ambulance came, and I went to the hospital. It was a whole big thing. I’m fine now, but here’s the problem... I tried to explain the situation, but everyone had already decided the truth of who I am and what had happened. Nothing I said made any difference.
I don’t like this story, but I’m telling you because I think it’s important that we discuss it. So often many of us are told things that are not true, and we’re expected to believe things because everyone else says they are true. But in today’s episode of It’s All BS, I want you to consider, what could you learn if you just listened?
We talk about:
🔹 How just because we have a preconceived notion about someone or something, it doesn’t mean we’re right
🔹 How we can tend to ignore our own work because of the “truths” others say about us
🔹 How you can decide when you want to keep fighting for something and when you want to give yourself a mental rest
🔹 Recognizing when we do this to each other
Always consider all the options, listen quietly when people are trying to tell you something, and then make your decision. Never make a decision until you have all the facts. And whatever you do, Beautifuls, practice your listening skills. 💕
If you could use some personalized support around this area of your life, I have a limited number of openings. So let's talk and see if we’re a fit. Book a chat here!
