S2E6 - Justifying Life w/ Trent Peek

CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers Season 2 Episode 6

On this episode, host Joyce Kline catches up with director, writer, actor, past CineVic president and overall man-about-set, Trent Peek.

Trent recalls going from “not ready at all” to being chosen to direct Sarah Nicole Faucher’s CineSpark winning production, Going Home.

This film tells the story of a young deaf woman trying to work in the film industry. Being not many of these things, Trent shares the reality of directing an independent short from a different perspective than his own.

Not shy to try different departments, Trent recently found himself doing set dec on the Netflix series Maid, filmed throughout Greater Victoria. Let’s just say he has a new appreciation for what goes into production design.

This episode also touches on a near death experience that reframed Trent’s outlook on career and life.

Lastly, Joyce finds out the meaning behind Trent’s philosophy of, “keep it real, and if it’s not real, don’t keep it.”

Be sure to check out Trent’s film, Going Home in-person(!) at CineVic’s Short Circuit Pacific Rim Film Festival on May 6, 2022 at The Vic Theatre in downtown Victoria (or streaming online May 8-31).
