In this episode, Tony Casement, Head of Creative Communities and Sally Jones, Theatre Manager chat to us about Party Week taking place from 25th May - 31st May at the New Wolsey Theatre.

Celebrations begin on Wednesday 25th May with live music from Rush - A Joyous Jamaican Journey  which is a hugely entertaining and informative show, taking us through the story of reggae music and the Windrush Generation.

On Thursday 26th May, it's the chaotic cabaret cult of An Evening Without Kate Bush, and on Friday 27th May, Ronnie Scotts bring us Claire Martin & Ian Shaw, as they present A Century of British Song.

Saturday is a day of celebration which starts at 10:30am, with Palaver Party for kids, and straight after that we open up the Theatre Square for The Big Picnic - from 12:30-2:30pm. The Big Picnic is a celebration of the coming together of our local communities where we will tip our hats towards the Platinum Jubilee. There'll be spreads of food, live music, street theatre, magic, arts and crafts and face-painting. The Big Picnic is a free event, so please bring your friends and family!

Sunday afternoon at 2pm brings us the family show Punk Alley, which is an original, vibrant and fun punk-rock show (BSL with partial captioning). Sunday night brings us the Comedy Store Stand-Up, which is strictly 18+ and this special Party Week closes on 31st May, with two performances from Oily Cart, presenting Sound Symphony - this is a playful journey through music, sound and silence; highly interactive and sensory, made especially for autistic people. A relaxed performances for ages 8+.
