Josh Gibson is in that number, Lyman Bostock Sr, is in that number, Cool Papa Bell is in that number too.

This week Major League Baseball officially recognized the statistics from the Negro Leagues.  Putting hundreds of players who were excluded from playing in the Majors in the record books,

Now their fetes are inscribed in the same record book and treated the same as white players.

Racism is discrimination and prejudice against people based on their race or ethnicity. Racism is present everywhere in government policies, in business practices, in showbusiness and in sports.

While racism can be found in the church, Heaven is the one place where racism does not exist.  Romans 2:11 tells us that there is no partiality with God.   God made us in his image, so we are judged by our faithfulness not by our race.

The plea, “Oh Lord I want to be in that number” was answered by Major League Baseball for players in the Negro Leagues.   However, for you and for me “Oh Lord I want to be in that number”

is more than a plea from the iconic jazz song “When The Saints Go Marching In”.  It is a rally call for us to make it safely home to Heaven so we like so many Saints before can rejoice because we are in that number.
