In John Chapter 13 and 14 Jesus gives us a Father’s Day gift in the form of Godly fatherly instruction as he shows us three ways he cared and loved his disciples.

Humility

First, Jesus showed humility by washing his disciple’s feet as depicted in John 13: 1-20. The father’s day gift from Jesus is this: A Godly father realizes that they must humble themselves to be of service to their children, setting the example for their own humility.

Telling The Hard Truth

Second, Jesus is willing to tell his disciples the hard truth. In John 13: 21-35 we see telling his disciples a hard truth as he foretells his betrayal, death, and resurrection.

This hard truth that Jesus told was a shock to the disciples who are in a state of denial.  However, later after Jesus is gone the hard truth about his betrayal, death, and resurrection becomes the foundational truth of the disciples’ message as they spread the Gospel.

The father’s day gift from Jesus is this: A Godly father is willing to tell the hard truth even though it may bring temporary discomfort to his child the glory will come.

Giving Hope

Third, Jesus provides hope for his shocked disciples by giving them a new commandment in John 13:34-35 to love one another as he have loved then. Then Jesus provides the ultimate hope saying in John 14:1-4 that in my Father’s house there are many mansions.

The father’s day gift from Jesus is this: In the brightest days and in the darkest times Godly fathers are dispensers of hope.

Humility, Telling the hard truth, Giving hope.  Father’s day gifts for all fathers from Jesus.
