Devotional: Keeping Company With Jesus

There is an old saying that a person is judged by the company they keep.  When Jesus chose disciples, He was not concerned about appearances.   Jesus wasn't looking for role models; Jesus was looking for real people. Jesus chose people who could be changed by His love, and then He sent them out to communicate that the glory of God was available to anyone – even to those whose lives were marked by sin and failure.

All of us have been marked by sin and failure.  We have been in the grip of sin so deep that it has led to failure in marriages, failure in relationships with our children, failures in so many things that for many our lives are not worth living.  

Jesus sees beyond our sin; Jesus sees beyond our failures.  Jesus sees us as a magnificent embodiment of the Father, made by God for the glory of God.   

Remember, Jesus is not looking for role models, Jesus is looking for real people like you and me.  So, keep company with Jesus and everything will be alright.
