I have been looking at taking a defensive driving course.  While driving is something I do almost daily passing the course will enable me to save hundreds of dollars in auto insurance premiums.

The brochures for the course have provided some helpful tips like checking the air in your spare tire and the proper way to grip the steering wheel.

This summer at Greater Bethel AME Athens we are doing the Forge Bible Study.   From the forthcoming movie the Forge Bible Study uses Biblical principles to tell the dramatic story of redemption that is possible to receive and to give because of our faith in Jesus.

Fans of the movie the War Room will be pleased to know that the actor Karen Abercrombie will revise her role as Ms. Clara.  In an important scene from the movie Ms. Clare offers this sage advice about life and driving

“We can’t treat prayer like a spare tire that we only pull out in an emergency.  Payer is the steering wheel that you hold on tightly every day, no matter where you are going.”

God’s Word and prayer are the most helpful spiritual tools we have to align our hearts to the will of God.   Psalm 119 reminds us to “Open our eyes so that we may see the wonderful things of God.”

So, the question is this, “Do you tent to use prayer primarily for emergencies or do you maintain daily connection to God?”

If you are not in constant prayer its time your own defensive driving course.  On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday a group of us meet for 15 or so minutes of prayer and devotion at 6:30 AM ET join us by calling 857 779 9977.   Now if getting up early is not your cup of tea leave a prayer request on our 24/7 prayer line 720 708 1288.  If that does not work for you go to my website www.marbenbland.com where you will find sermons, blogs, podcasts and more.

Drive safely and continue to hold on to the wheel.
