Devotional: The Head Scratching Decisions Of The U.S. Supreme Court

The term head scratcher refers to something that is difficult to understand.  A thing that causes puzzlement or confusion.  

Head scratching is my description of recent decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States.  

-      Laws that provided a stable framework of regulatory actions were overturned. 

Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo 

-      Laws that protected and expended voting rights were gutted. 

      Shelby County v. Holder

-      And any notion that the actions of a president were bound by law has been dashed.  

      Trump v. United States 

Psalm 119 is a celebration of God’s law.  Its 176 stanzas is an exaltation of God’s law.  Commandments, statutes, ordinances, decrees, words, precepts, promise, law are the eight different terms use to describe God’s law.  

Those terms are used to refer to God’s law that is not like man’s law.  Which can be used to advantage one group over another.   

The intent of God’s law is to bring us closer to him through prayer, thanksgiving, worship, and the study of his word.  

The Psalmist in Psalm 119:18 ask God to open his eyes so that he may see the wonderful things in His Law.   

When we open our eyes to the wonders of God’s law there is no confusion, there is no division there is no head scratching.  There is only love, glory, and peace.  

Let’s open our eyes to the wonders of God’s law.  For when we do, we can stop the head scratching.
