Jesus in the Parable of the Good Samaritan remind us of three important truths first, to Love God with our heart, second to Love your neighbor as yourself and third, that everyone is our neighbor, who are all worthy of our love.

When Jesus told the parable there was mutual haltered between Samaritans and Jews.  However, in telling the story of a Samaritan going out of his way to provide aid and comfort to a Jew, Jesus’ emphases the concept that everyone is our neighbor.

In the Olympics Games neighbors compete, for country, pride, family medals, fame, and glory.   With so much on the line it’s only natural to hate our neighbors with the same fury of the Samaritans and Jews.

The Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade has been a force during the Paris Games taking home four medals, including the gold in the floor final.  Beating out the incomparable Simone Biles in what could be her last Olympic event.

During the women's artistic gymnastics floor medal ceremony, Americans Biles and Jordan Chiles, who were standing on either side of Andrade on their respective podiums, did something no one was expecting.

The young women bowed down to their neighbor in the ultimate sign of respect to the woman who beat them for the gold Rebeca Andrade.

Simone Biles, Jordan Child, and Rebeca Andrade lived out what Jesus has taught us that everyone is our neighbor and that all neighbors are worthy of our love.
