Jurors in the Kyle Rittenhouse case have spoken rendering a not guilty verdict. Within hours jurors deciding the fate of three men charged with killing Ahmaud Arbery will start deliberations.
Was justice right in the Rittenhouse case? Will justice get it right concerning the killing of Ahmaud Arbery?
We cry for justice, we march for justice, we pray for justice. However, what happens when justice is wrong? When conviction goes to the innocent, and the guilty are acquitted.
These are bitter pills to take the failure of when justice is wrong remains for generations. But in the mists of this pain, there is hope, the prophet Amos in a lament of the injustices of the people of Israel tells of God’s restoration of justice saying when the Lord comes justice will roll down like waters and righteousness will prevail like an ever-flowing stream.
God is the ultimate juror and on the day of the Lord, justice will be set right. But in the meantime, justice will be right, and justice will be wrong. As Christians, we must continue to fight for justice with our activism, our money, and our prayers. All as we eagerly await the day will justice can no longer be wrong for with our God justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
